Come on Apple - this is not enough!

Come on Apple - this account mess has to be streamlined! Really!
My setup: 3 different Macs, 2 iPhones, one iTunes Library, my wife, me.
We both use all 3 Macs and have our own accounts on each machine. We have both our own MobileMe account. (Wife has sub account of my main account).
We want to have ONE iTunes library where all our music and iPhone apps are stored and synchronized. We want to access this library from all our macs for music and video.
We don't want to sychronize stuff manually. The mac where we synchronize our iPhones is usually not the Mac where we are listening to music. To backup our iPhones it is ok that we have to use one dedicated Mac.
Does this setup and these requirements sound familiar to someone?
But Apple - what you did for us is a big mess:
1. We have iTunes accounts, MobileMe accounts and user accounts on each of our Macs. When do we use which? How do they relate?
2. We need to activate our computers. If I do this from my account on one of our Macs the same Mac under the account of my wife is not activated. So: I did not activate "the computer" I did activate "the computer for MY account".
3. Why can't we use "home sharing" without having to connect this to an iTunes account? What is its relevance? But: We can buy simultaneously from another iTunes account.
This leads to:
My OS account (not "my computer"!) is connected to my MobileMe account, while I use a different iTunes-Account but home sharing is achieved with my MoblieMe account again.
My wife's account on the same machine is connected to her MobileMe-Account while her iTunes is connected to my iTunes account. This is neccessary to be able to share apps for our iPhones.
Do we have to activate our computers for each user separately? In our case this would mean: 3 Macs, 2 users = 3*2=6 active computers. But the maximum is 5. If we had a child with its own account would we need 3*3=9 activations?
Apple rarely recognizes in its documentation that multiple users on one machine exist. There is no such thing as a description on i.e.
- "How to use multiple iPhones on one Mac in different user accounts with the ability to share apps".
- "How to setup home sharing for different users on the same machine"? Is it even necessary?
- Apple, give us recomendations and example setups. Incl. where to use which user!
Another thing:
- With home sharing we have the abilitiy to MANUALLY add files to our library. Manually! Seriously: If my wife wants to hear music on the MacBook in the living room she wants to hear music and not copy files over Wifi.
Probably this all works somehow - I didn't check it all out. But it is completely intransparent and not user friendly. Apple is supposed to be all about easiness and ergonomics. I can't see any of this here.
To come to a conclusion:
Apple:
- Please recognize the you are offering a multi user operating system and provide documentation, use cases, and the usability the name Apple usually stands for!
- Every company in the world tries to Single Sign On their employees to the corporate network. But you force us to think about OS users, MobileMe users, iTunes users and activated computers. And that without adequate documentation.
- Please give us a family iTunes-Server: One library for all, auto-sync for mobile Macs.
- Recognize the fact that the real users today are not single persons but in many cases families.
And btw: Often you have this information: We have a family account! Why is there NO functionality attached on the main account of a familiy account?!
I could write a rant like this for MobileMe as well - don't get me even started here. (Why can't we have a family calendar and address book? Why is Exchange support more powerful than MobileMe? Why is Google synchronizing more powerful than MobileMe).

I could not agree with you more.
My wife and I have 4 Macs (all intel running Snow Leopard), 1 Dell (XP with iTunes), 1 iPod Touch, 1 iPod shuffle, 1 iPod Mini, 2 iPod Nanos (for various environments) MobileMe, and 2 iTunes accounts.
She buys songs for her, I buy songs for me. We manually sync the songs so that each Mac has all songs (which as you can imagine is a giant pain in the you know where).
Apple, as Sanaponic said, you market a multi-user operating system.
So stream-line this experience to make it easy for multi-user homes to enjoy the media we purchase from you!

If you're not a developer then you really should not have upgraded.
I'm unsure how you can fix this as you have already done a back-up on iOS 7 and apple don't support firmware downgrades.

other then that it's unclear what you are trying to do or if it's 1 or 2 things
playing music videos simultaneously would imply you trying to play more then 1 at once, this is not something it support out of the box I'd say.
then there is the 2 apps, are you refearing to apps which should let play many music videos at once?
and do they freeze when you try to download them, or when you try to start them,
and maybe the name of the apps, in question would make it easier for people to help.

You can't have content in iCloud without having it on your phone, you will need to look at deleting items from your device that you don't need. Movies and TV shows from iTunes are possibly a good start because they tend to be large and can be redownloaded at a later date.

I'm having a very similar problem, so I was excited to see the link above. But when I click on it, it redirects me to the nike.com main website (I'm assuming Nike redid their website since the above link was posted). Could you please point me to that article somewhere else or tell me how you fixed your problem?
My exact problem is this: I was running until recently with my iPod Nano 6th gen and the Nike+ sensor kit (sensor that goes in the Nike+ shoe plus receiver that goes in the iPod Nano). When I would sync my Nano with iTunes (I would have the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option checked), all was well with this set-up as far as syncing my stuff to the Nike+ website goes.
I recently realized that for the iPod Nano 6th generation, the sensor/receiver combo is not required anymore. So I ran two runs without the receiver. I kept the sensor in the shoe though as nowadays I mostly run with my recently purchased Nike+ Sport GPS watch and I like to have the sensor in the shoe in case the GPS signal gets lost at some point during a run. Anyway, those two runs that I ran without the receiver won't sync to my nikeplus account. I can see them in my iPod Nano's history and I can see one of them (the latest one) on the Nike + iPod tab of iTunes when I sync my Nano. The difference though is that on iTunes this latest run appears under a "Sensor 1" selection, whereas all my previous runs with both the sensor and receiver would be under "Nike + Sensor" selection. Within the "Nike + Sensor" selection, under nikeplus.com, there's the "Automatically send workout data to nikeplus.com" option and below it a Login ID that shows my Nike+ website log-in info. Within the "Sensor 1" selection, the Login ID is missing. I've tried renaming "Sensor 1" to something else but it didn't make the Login ID appear.

It happens sometimes. Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem that points to a hardare problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar is in order.

How come my apple id is not being verified by my device?

For so,e reason, my device won't accept my apple ID when it is put into either FaceTime or iMessage. Tried numerous times, even on different wifi networks, with no luck. I am the web master for myschool. We use sharpschool and when I go into edit our web pages all is see is the html code. I would like to have the sharpschool user friendly "word" edit come up. This does not happen with IE.

html code is all I see when editing the school website. As the web master I can write code but prefer the edit friendly version as it is quicker. IE does not show the html code.

Not enough memory error when disconnecting device on a virtual com port

I maintain a large application that collects data from many data source channels (using coustom hardware read thru a conventional COM port) and I am adding a GPS data source on a USB port using a virtual COM port driver. The application runs 24/7/365 and works well including the GPS data, if undisturbed. However, the application needs to tolerate a physical disconnect and reconnect of the GPS device without user intervention. When I disconnect the GPS, the application becomes unresponsive most of the time (the mouse responds and other programs that are open on the desktop work fine). I abstracted the serial code and made a separate vi (below) for testing. When I disconnect the GPS from the COM port, I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message 9 out of 10 times and the vi is unresponsive until I clear the error message (the tenth time it continues working). I built the vi this way to collect data continuously. I suspect that this is the problem with the full app but I don't see the Not enough memory message there and therefore the full app does not respond and must be terminated via Task Manager. The full app runs full screen mode.
The LV app runs on Windows XP and LabView 7.0 (the client doesn't want to upgrade).
I have tried probing the error message lines at all points in the vi but they don't show anything when the 'Not enough memory' message occurs (they show the expected device not found error after clearing the error message).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

I think he was meaning to say without user intervention on the software side.
I have seen odd behavior if you disconnect from a com port whilst LV still has the port open. There are a couple things I myself woud try, being the experimenting type that I am. Perhaps setting up a com port check to see if it has a valid connection before polling for data. If not then a blank case or some other generic code.
The issue with this would be if it became disconnected while LV was polling data. Hard to get around this condition. Is there a way that the cause of the of the connect/disconnect (whether human or otherwise) could be set up so that a signal can be sent to the controlling system (pre-disconnect and post-connect) to trigger an event to handle the software side? A simple signal switch or something. Just thinking out loud. Withoug knowing all the particulars, it's hard to make detailed recommendations.

Report Builder 3.0 - Not enough storage is available to process this command

I have a customer who uses Report Builder to create adhoc reports against a SQL data warehouse. However, users intermittently encounter the exception "Not enough storage is available to process this command", which appears to relate
to creating/drawing the report.
It would appear that a user can define the required Report SQL, run the report and export it to Excel. However, on occasions, when the user reviews/amends the report SQL, or specify a new value for a existing report parameter, and then try to run the
report, they get an exception, as per the snippet below:-
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Not enough storage is available to process this command
at System.Drawing.BufferedGraphicsContext.CreateCompatibleDIB(IntPtr hdc, IntPtr hpal, Int32 ulWidth, Int32 ulHeight, IntPtr& ppvBits)
at System.Drawing.BufferedGraphicsContext.CreateBuffer(IntPtr src, Int32 offsetX, Int32 offsetY, Int32 width, Int32 height).
The error can also occur after trying to re-export the report to excel. In this case the export works.
In all cases, the user is given the option to continue or quit, but clicking continue just causes the error to be re-displayed so the user has to quit Report Builder and re-open it..
We have monitored the user's resources (citrix session) and they are not using all their RAM or temporary folder space.

As per my understanding, you got the error on occasions when you change the parameters to run the report, export it to excel or preview the report, right?
Did your report have large amount of rows or columns or did you have image or chart in the report? Did this issue happened on the other reports too?
Your issue can be caused by many factors:
If you have some image or chart in the report. Based on the callstack crashing at System.Drawing, it looks like GDI+ may be a problem. Make sure you have the latest updates installed for GDI+. The interaction of the content of the report with GDI+
may also be something to investigate. If you have many images in the report, each image is a distinct GDI object and could potentially cause a problem.
It also probably running out of space on your computer, so you may need to check the space on your c: drive. If you are running out space, you can try to reboot the computer or delete a few things or somehow getting a bigger hard drive to check the
issue again.
If the issue only happend on this report, I recommend you to recreate an same report to have a test.

Apple 23 Cinema not working with nvidia 5200...help!!!

Hey all!
I have an Apple 23" Cinema that is not working with my Windows XP machine using an NVIDIA 5200 128meg graphics card. The montior, when booting Windows, just flashes its power light 3 times...goes off...then repeats the sequence.
So, I tried a Dell 2007WFP with the XP machine using the DVI port of the card. When booting, it seems like it's going to fire up the monitor (shows splash screen and Windows logo) but then goes blank when it hits the desktop.
Oddly enough, when I plug in my Apple 30" into the DVI port of the NVIDIA card, it works just great. No fuss or muss (other than a resolution change).
The 23" also works fine with my MacPro BTW so I know the monitor is golden.
Any takers on this one?

Hi Talon, I just accidentally came across your thread. Maybe I can help. I own a 23-inch cinema HD display but mine is ADC and I have to run mine through an ADC to DVI adapter.
Anyways on to the discussion...
The nvidia 5200 is a rather old-ish card (or chipset). The feature set in these older cards are not necessarily symmetrically reciprocal (what?) throughout the feature set. In other words, the feature may work in one mode and not in the another mode...etc...
You may have seen these specs on your 5200 card/chipset:
+Dual RAMDACs (up to 400 MHz) for display resolutions up to and including 2048×1536 @ 85Hz+
and thought this would be great, my resolution is less than that @ 1920x1200 on my 23-inch cinema display. However I believe this may be referring only to the vga output signal and not the DVI. Read on...
Further down in the specs for the 5200 card/chipset you'll see:
+DVI support for compatibility with nextgeneration flat panel displays with resolutions up to and including 1600×1200+
Unfortunately, this is not enough resolution to power your 23-inch display at 1920x1200. Windows may even show the resolution 1920x1200 as available (if you're able to get to the screen) but what I think it's not telling you, it that in order for you to be able to use that resolution you'll need to switch to dual mode DVI, and the card does this automatically.
For example: 640x800 to 1600x1200 uses single mode DVI and anything above that (like our 23-inch cinema HD monitors @ 1920x1200) +using this particular card/chipset+ will be using dual mode DVI whether the monitor can support that mode or not. From my experience with my HD cinema it uses single mode DVI.
As someone said above your 23-inch is in *single mode DVI* and from my experience only accepts *single mode DVI input* from the graphics card.
From my understanding of the specs and your description of the delimma, I would suppose that you are able to get the 30 inch display to work because the 30 inch is a *dual mode DVI monitor* and your graphics card does work in dual DVI mode up to your 30-inch resolution but ONLY in dual DVI mode.

If you were to ask my recommendation, I'd go buy a new video card that has higher resolution on the single mode DVI output. I can tell you that my ATI 2600 HD Pro (AGP) (windows version, not mac only) has two DVI ports that are both dual mode DVI capable but also dumb down to single mode DVI signaling at high enough resolution to support our 23-inch cinema HD single mode DVI displays.
