Comic Life, OmniOutliner, FreeVerse Games - how to install from Tiger?

These applications (along with some trials I do not need) were bundled with Tiger that came loaded on my laptop. I actually liked and used these applications.
The bundled applications loader does not mention these (only iLife and the Trials). How to I install these application on my fresh install of Leopard?
Thanks.

The applications (mentioned above) that came loaded on my MBP (Tiger) are not on the Tiger installation disks? They are now lost forever as my Leopard needed upgrade did not work well and Apple support asked me to do fresh install?
They do NOT come preloaded on any MacBook Pro, except possibly a used or refurbished one where someone loaded them as a "favor". If you got them on a MacBook Pro that was new, it was purely by mistake, as the specs never show the MacBook Pro as ever coming with those applications. Only the iMac did.
They never came with Tiger nor with Leopard retail.
The MacBook Pro installation discs only include iLife in addition to what was found in Mac OS X retail and several 30 day demo applications.
Fresh install is not a Mac OS X installation option:

An erase and install means you can only restore iLife from the original installation disks, or iLife retail if you need to install Leopard. iTunes comes with Leopard retail as well. For different portions of iLife which came with various versions of Mac OS X retail:

  • How to install from Tiger DVD on Lombard with CD drive

I've installed Jaguar on a G3 Powerbook Lombard, and downloaded XPostFacto 4. I want to install Tiger, but I only have the DVD version, and there is only a CD drive in the computer. Can I install Tiger from a networked DVD drive, or is there another option?

There has been at least one report of success using an external USB 1.1 DVD drive to start up the Mac OS X 10.4 DVD on a clamshell iBook
Okay, it seems that the DVD will boot from a USB DVD drive after setting the Boot Disk to the USB drive.
However, running XPostFacto returns a "XPostFacto does not work with this model: Powerbook 1,1" (1,1 referring to Lombard). I've also searched around the XPF forums with little luck. Tiger will also not natively install on a Lombard, but I found this article that details a OSInstall.dist code change to allow Tiger to install.

I may try this later, and post back with results. For now, I'll be running 10.2.

  • How to install from a Solaris 8 install .iso?

I want to try to install Solaris 8 in an LDOM. I know that it is "not supported" - but it may be possible, according to some discussions I have had, so I want to try.
Unfortunately, when I try the naive approach and add the iso image of the CD as a virtual disk to the domain and try to boot from it, it tells me the file isn't executable. The explanation, it seems, is that the CD actually contains several slices, and only the first one is visible when you look at it as an iso file. So, I guess my question is: Is it actually possible to get to a point where I can try to install from this CD image into an LDOM?

Well, if it was supported you would be able to ;)
The thing with the SPARC installation CD's is that they are indeed sliced, i think the reason for it to be sliced is that different slices supports different CPU architectures, so that slice 2 (or slice :b when you boot it from an OK prompt) was originally, long time ago, used for the sun4c CPU's, slice 3 (or :c) was used for sun4m and slice 4 (:d) was used for sun4d.
Then came sun4u which used slice 5/:e
Then slice 0 would contain a HSFS filesystem which actually contained the packages and the installation program.
You can get the vtoc with dd, and then extract the slices you want with dd and access them using LOFS. But yet again this is probably futile. I don't think there is a single chip in the T4 hardware which is supported with Solaris 8.
Given how powerful the T4 seems, and how ineffective Solaris 8 could sometimes be at utilizing resources, it would also seem like a waste..
Have you had a look at native zones? that way you can run Solaris 8 / 9 in zones under Solaris 10..

  • How to Install OS Tiger on USB Drive

    Hi,
I tried to install Mac OS X Tiger on the newly purchased USB HDD. When I try to run the install from within Leopard, the setup will prompt me with destination hard drive. It doesn't allow me to select the USB drive and says "It cannot install on external drive because it cannot boot from this volume".
How can I install on the external drive?
    Thanks, Pj

I need some help. I backed up my wife's iMac to an external USB drive using Superduper. It said it created a bootable clone. However, when I go to startup disk in the Preferences, the disk does not show up.
I see people talking about whether it's GUID, and I don't believe I set it up as that. Didn't know I needed to. I can't believe you simply can't boot from a USB 2.0 external like a Firewire.
Anyway, there's very little space left on this external, and I need it to be bootable. Can anyone help?

  • Software update for A2109A - how to install from external sd?

I bought my wife and son an A2109A tablet each just a few days ago. I immediately did an ota update. When I checked if there any further updates it said the tablet had the latest software from 297 days ago.
I see everyone on forums talking about a jellybean release for this tablet so I had a look on Lenovo's site and sure enough, there is an update released on 20th Feb 2013 with the filename a2109_jb_gpl_rc1_227.tar.bz2. I downloaded this, put it on an ecternal sd card and booted into recovery mode. The tablet did a search for an update, found it but couldn't verify the update. I chose the "install from external storage" option, but it couldn't see the file. I renamed the file to "update.zip" and tried again but it aborted again both automatically and manual install.
What do I need to do to install this update?

You tried to install the kernel source on your tablet? You can't do that, What OS are you running? if you don't have jb, the system update should allow you to update.

  • How to install from DVD onto machine without DVD drive

My boss has a laptop without a DVD drive, and wants to install Tiger. Tiger comes on a DVD. What is the best way to complete this install?
If I put the DVD in my laptop, then mount it as an external drive will that give us access to the DVD within it?

You can copy Tiger to CD's (if you already have the Tiger DVD's) and do the install from CD's. Or if your boss has a firewire port on his laptop you can plug in a firewire DVD drive and run the installation from there. You will need to hold down the option key to select which drive to start off of.
If you haven't already purchased Tiger you could buy the CD version on eBay.

  • How to install from FCP 1 via upgrades to FCP 3 on new G4

I finally bought a new Powerbook G4 to replace my G3 350. (It really is it quite a bit better... Amazing how things have come along in six years...)
Anyway, I started with FCP when it first came out with version 1 and bought upgrades for 2 and 3 which I used on my G3.
How do I get version 3 onto my G4 ? Version 1 will not install in "classic" mode on the G4 and therfore I can not install and use the upgrade discs to get to version 3 on my G4. I tried dragging the whole version 3 applicaion over from my old computer and put the preferences into the OS9 preferences folder with no luck.
Is it actually possible to get FCP onto this computer with the discs I have (original version1, upgrade 2, upgrade 3) ?

Contact Apple to get a new installer CD for FCP 3.
One of my friends had this problem, and he received a new CD.
(I'm not sure if Apple still does this kind of upgrades, but you can try)

I recommend that you upgrade FCP 4 or 5 then you only have to enter the old s/n during the installation.

  • [SOLVED] How to install from AUR?

Ok, I know I'm posting too many questions too fast but I'm at the last step in configuring my videocard driver to install X and I'm stranded in the middle of nowhere, sorry for too much posting.
I need to install a package from AUR but even I read the guide (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_User_Guidelines) I can't make it clear enough on how to do it so please correct me if there's anything wrong.
    a. first of all, I need to download and install wget because I'm at CLI ready to configure X but I need the latest test drivers that fully support my videocard.
    b. mkdir ~/myuser/build && cd ~/myuser/build
    c. I need to download from here (http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34773) the Tarball, PKGBUILD and all the files listed in "Files", right?
    d. Once I have files downloaded all I need to do is follow the instructions in the wiki,
       1.  Acquire a PKGBUILD  and any other required files (e.g. patches)
       2. Run makepkg in the directory where the files are saved
       3. Install the resulting package with pacman
    Thanks for any advice!

    guys,
did you ever saw that Heineken TV Ad where a woman shows her dresser-room to her fellow friends and they start screaming like (women does) crazy, and while they still screaming a lot they start to hear a somewhat identical scream from other part of the house that in fact shows up as the boyfriend/husband of the first lady showing his buddys his special fridge-room filled with green bottles?
Well, that was my *exact* impression yesterday after having KDE4 up and running with composite turned on faster than any Fluxbox system on a iCore 7, and that's the top part of the iceberg.
I think the best thing I like about Arch it's it's simplicity - besides it's speed. Okay, it may seem somewhat obscure to profane because editing configuration files is something strange to profanes, but if you have a little knowledge of GNU/Linux like myself once completed the Beginner's Guide, looking at /var/log/pacman.log and start tweaking you found yourself with a very powerfull yet easy to use, easy and fast to learn system. Arch is incredible, that's why it's gaining so much popularity, and it's community is superb.
I'm doing my first steps around it and find Yaourt a very cool tool, I love all the info it shows about installed and AUR packages and the way it colorize, very pragmatic-oriented (as Arch is).
On the other hand Packer is a swift tool to replace pacman.
Thank you guys for your kindness and time spent on this n00b, best!

    This http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR_Helpers
If you look into PKGBUILDs you see the good old './configure && make install' but by using pacman you don't have to worry about dependencies and if you remove the installed app, it gets removed all the way, no garbage left behind.

  • How many install will "Tiger" allow?

    Greetings all,
Quick Tiger question. Is their a limit to the number of times you can re-install it? By that, I mean on the same mac. I was just curious if one day I ws going to try a re-install after breaking something and the computer was going to tell me that I had run out of installs. Probably a really dumb question but I'd like to know.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi Chris;
Back when I still had my G4 MDD I also got an SATA drive and a Firmtek card. My plan was to use it to extend the life of my G4 so that I could get a G5 at the end of last year by using it for my project files.
After doing my testing I changed my mind and decided to move my OS and appls to the SATA disk instead. It was much faster then my old ATA drives. The way I moved everything over to the new SATA drive was SuperDuper. I simply created a clone and the booted from it. It was very easy and straight forward.
For my project files, I decided to create a RAID 0 Array with the two drives which gave me nearly the same performance as the SATA drive.
This configuration worked very well until I got my Quad in December.

  • How to install from a back-up

There HAS to be an easy anwser to this, I'm just an idiot.
    The deal.
I want everything (Applications, and settings, etc) on my "Old" computer transfered to my "New" one.
We moved. Overseas. In doing so we bought a "new" iMac (left the old one stateside). I have an external HD that we ran Time machine on from the "Old" iMac.
I have already used Migration Assistant (2.5 hours of migrating, thanks USB 2.0 ). We thought it would work, but though the applications are present, we have to re-enter serial numbers, and settings didn't come through (things like presets in Aperature are not present).
We had a HD crash on our "Old" iMac, and after getting fixed, we did some kid of reboot from the Time Machine Back-Up, and everything was honky-dory. Is it because it was the same machine?
A side note, when we bought our "New" iMac, we had them install more RAM. When we got home and first turned the machine on, it just booted up. We didn't get that usual cool video of "Welcome! Bienvenue!...You are awesome for buying a Mac!" video that plays at the very beginning when you boot a new product. Do we need to somehow do a "super-reboot"?
I'm no expert, but I can usually figure something like this out. But it ain't coming together today! Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks ahead of time.

If your Mac came with a cd drive then you'll almost certainly need to use that cd drive to install Windows. Some have published workarounds by changing a .plist file but it is not always successful.

  • 10.5 lost master discs - how to install from scratch

I've mislaid my master discs but need to repartition the hard drive in order to install Bootcamp and Windows.  If I re-format the hardrive I'll have no master System to update.  Is it possible to download initial installation for OSX10.5 ?

You can user SuperDuper to "clone" your hard drive to an external firewire or USB drive. Then you can boot from the external "clone," and then you can erase and reformat the internal drive. Before doing that, it would be good to check that the clone works properly. Then after reformating, you can clone from the external drive back to the freshly formatted internal drive volume where you want OS X to reside. Then boot from that internal drive volume and verify that everything is working.
    1 = internal drive
    2 = external drive
    Clone from 1 to 2.
Boot from 2. Check that 2 works just like 1 did.
Erase and reformat and repartition 1.
Clone back from 2 to 1 (choosing the volume and partition that you want OS X on).
Boot from 1, checking that all files and programs are as they were originally.

  • Used iMac (fall 2006) has no OS.  How to install from flash drive?

We purchased a used iMac from Notre Dame University.  The hard drive has been completely wiped clean, as is their policy.  We have a USB flash drive with
Mavericks on it, but when we follow the installation instructions, nothing happens.  We get the icon "OSX BASE", but when we select it, the mac goes
to a gray screen with a flashing question mark and never moves from there.  Any advice is helpful.

You will need to call Apple and order a set of replacement disks for your specific iMac Model, or purchase a Snow Leopard DVD.
"Fall 2006," is not a good enough description, as there were both Mid 2006 and Late 2006 iMac 17" models and a Late 2006 iMac 20" model.
All of these models shipped with versions of Tiger 10.4, and all are compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The Late 2006 models can be further upgraded to Lion 10.7.5, provided that they have the minimum 2 Gigs of RAM.
None of these iMacs would be compatible with Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite.
