Hi,
I would like to make a 'comic' page on my iWeb-site. With the daily comics of Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes and others.
Does anyone know how I can do that?
I allready looked on the site of Garfield and the Gocomic-site but I can't find instructions.

You can take screenshots of the comic strips, crop them, export as a JPEG and drop them on to your iWeb page.
I use EasyCrop for this from....

Making a flash comic

OK, first, I'm new to Flash Designing, so sorry if I seem a
little slow.
I'm trying to write a comic for a website (A parody of the
old RPG Quest for Glory), but I've been having trouble with making
the pages. Finally, I chose making Flash Videos for the comics.
What I'm trying to get is: when the page loads, the first
picture of the comic (each picture is too big to be a strip)
appears in the center of the screen. There is a button on the
top-right that says Next, and in later pictures there is a button
on the top-left that says Previous. And if someone presses the Next
button, the picture changes to the next picture. However, I am
having a few problems getting that.
I'm using Flash MX 6.0 r25, IE7, and Frontpage 2000. After a
few weeks, I finally managed to get each picture into the video,
and I found out how to change one picture without changing the
rest. I just recently found out how to stop a video from moving on
it's own and how to put it on the webpage.
However, I am currently having two problems with it.
First, when I've programmed the buttons to "goto" "NextFrame"
in <current scene>, I test them and they don't do anything.
I solved the second problem with sizing...I was putting in
the wrong dimensions (it was 640x380 instead of 400x380).
Third, when it's on the webpage and uploaded, every time I go
to the webpage, the video is just a white square on the screen. The
internet explorer says that it's loading, but nothing happens. I've
seen this problem on some other websites, and it happens to
everyone else.
Is there a way to solve these problems? I need this website
up before the end of February, sooner if possible.

Hey, I took a look at your .fla file and got it to work (i
looked at it again right now after i uploaded it to my server and i
forgot to delete one of your buttons so you'll have to do that). I
also stuck it into an HTML page to see if there was a problem with
it loading and that worked too.

(probably badly) how it works. I have no idea what the deal was
with those pushbutton things you had but wow, that was a lot of
unneccessary, confusing code; especially for what you were trying
to achieve. I'm not suprised that they weren't working, I had no
idea what was going on with them. My mp3 player has less code haha.
Anyway, check out what I did and let me know if it helps.
You can just go into the individual button movie clips that i
made and edit them to how you want them to look without upsetting
any of the code.

How close is BC to making their Forum Module more current?

What I mean by this is, I'd like for their forum module to have all the bells and whistles like most other forums: ability to add emoticons, create links within responses, post images via sites like photobucket, etc.
I started creating a forum for my comic book art website and I'd like to create a community of like minded artists But the ability to post one's artwork seems to be limited to only copying and pasting images into the reply. This is actually kind of cool, but most forums allow you to paste img code links, type text and then link it, etc.
BC's forum module is lacking in this respect.

Web design questions (Was: A number of questions..)

Ok so!
What fonts are known to go well together when making banners or headers? I have been messing around with a lot of fonts and im really just looking for some new ones!
I know this question really depends on the banner itself but what is a recommended size of a font when making a header? lets say 860x250 ?
Are there any real kind of "must nots" when designing banners?
When Placing text onto A banner where is the usual place you would see it? I know it changes from site to site but from just looking around a lot of text seems to be in the left bottom corner, is this a norm of some sort?
Are there any known font combinations which would go together well when making a full webpage? As in fonts for the sidebar, content area, footer etc, any combinations?

You are asking design questions, but most web designers, including those who frequent this forum, have no design expertise.
Your questions are good, but incomplete. The right typeface and size depends on the impression you are trying to create. For instance, you wouldn't want to use the typeface "Comic" for a website selling financial services.
Many corporations have lengthy documents detailing their identity for graphic design and advertising. Such documents define which typefaces may be used where, and how. Assuming that you don't have such a document to work with for the creation of this web banner, think about the business, organization (or whatever) the website is for. Should it convey conservative dependability? Edginess? Family friendliness? The typefaces you choose should take such qualities into consideration.
There's no definite answer to any of the questions you have asked. But that's OK. You should research websites that create the kind of impression you want to make and study how they accomplish it.

Muse website exported to html, fonts differ on tablet. how can I fix this so font is same on all, using comic sans

When viewing website on desktop, font is as it should be. However on my tablet and phone font is different. What can I do to correct this ... Do I need to create a separate website for Desktop, tablet and phone?

I reviewed your screenshot. Fonts selected are web safe. I edited the global stylesheet in Dreamweaver after exporting to html to reflect the desired web safe font. Now fonts are very inconsistent. Some are as they should be and others are not. See screenshots.
Is there anyone else that knows of a solution or is this a glitch that has not been resolved yet?

Flash For Online Comics?

I'm making a website for my original online manga, but
instead of using html I was wondering if there was a code/program
for viewing the images in a flash comic viewer. I guess it's
possible to set it up in Flash with just a play/back/forward button
for each scene/page. I was just hoping there might already be a

App and Website Development: CS5 Suite

I was planning on buying the CS5.5 Master Suite on the college discount, but I was trying to figure out if I actually need every program.
Pretty much I used up my Flash and Dreamweaver trial, and have been using my friends computer to get practice.
So my important question is whether the Web Premium Suite would suffice for (Android/iOS)App design/building and also Website design/building??
Also it isn't as important as those two, but I down the road here I wanted to make my own manga/comics and anime shorts.
The Web Suite has all the Flash, Photoshop and Dreamweaver, the ones i have used and sure that i need.
But the only thing missing out of the Web Suite is Premiere Pro(After Effects, Audition & Encore) and InDesign.
Pretty much I just need to know what programs will be needed for those kind of projects and which suite would accomindate me best.

I guess i figured that much, with any kind of video editing/making, it would make me wish i had the Master Suite.
I have exactly $1,400.
Master would take 975$ and intuos4 Small would be 225$.
I planned on a medium at $375, but if I get the medium, it would leave me with only $50, while the small would be $200.
Adding $450 to either total(medium($500) or small($650)) leaves open money for small things like financing a website, licenses, and peripherals.
If I don't start getting my anime going until this other stuff is rolling, I could wait 3 months when I get my next $1400 and get the production suite, if anime and video become an bigger interest.
I just didn't want to get the Web Suite and find out that I need Premiere Pro or InDesign for Web or App.

Images not showing on websites

After updating to the new OS X i have been having some issue with view images on websites. I like to read comics online but now i only get a blank screen with a small square that has a question mark in it What could this mean? am i missing a plus in? i have already update my adobe reader. please help!

Go step by step by step and test.
1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
    Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.

Flash Player 11 constantly crashing on every Website with Flashcontent...

Hi,
I am having problems with the latest Update of Adobe Flash Player to release 11. I am on a Mac(10.6.8) running the 64bit kernel. At the moment I installed Flash Player 11, every Website with Flashcontent is crashing. This also happens in Chrome, not only Safari or Firefox. I did everything Adobe provides as possible solutions. Do an uninstall with the uninstaller, then install fresh. I had a look in both of the Internet Plugins folder to make sure everything got removed correctly. But the new install won't work.
What works is uninstalling Flash Player 11 and installing Flash Player 10.3 again. Everything works like a charm then. Well... except in Chrome of course.
Just as a last bit of information: I never had any beta or alpha versions of the player installed.
Can anyone please help me? Does anyone else encounter this problem?

Can I transfer comic content from an ipad to my PC?

Hello, I've bought a lot of digital comics and mangas. My ipad 4 is 32GB version and I only have around 5 Gb left, can I transfer comics or mangas I bought to my computer as backup data in order to have more space ? Thanks.

Yes, you can copy photos that you take with the iPad, copy to it via the camera connection kit, or save from emails/websites via the windows camera wizard on a PC - there is a bit more info on this page

How to pick a file from a website

Hi All,
I have a requirement like this. I need to pick a file from a website for which i have the link and the file name . Its a .csv file. can i use file adapter to pick that file? can i mention the http link in the source directory field? or suggest me some way to pick that file . Its a website not a web service.

A work around i see is to use run operating system command before message processing option in sender file adapter.
Here I'd write a .bat file which which will execute a java class..
Basically I'll write a java class to download the file from the URL and keep it. And this file will be picked up by XI.
May be the same thing can also be achieved using scripts but i have no idea on dat...

Trying to make my website an RSS feed...need some help

I want to make my site RSS distributable. I have been reading what I can find about RSS feeds but I am missing something.
I can make a valid XML file that passes a feed validator, I can make an RSS feed button so you can enable my page to be added to an RSS feed reader but I am thinking my page HTML is still missing some appropriate tags to complete the process. They do not appear as "readable" even after added to a feed reader. It has been very difficult for me to locate a good tutotial to tell me what to do with my pages assets to make them adequately "readable." I don't know if that means it is so easy I'm over-thinking it or what.
To maybe make it a little more problematic, I'm trying to do this with a site that includes a picture gallery, its a web comic. I have seen Web comic aggregators pull in WordPress sites with a clickable gallery that in theory is the same as what I have made at www.norestcomic.com but as I said, I can't legitimately pass my website all the way through a reader, even though it passes validation. I don't think the gallery itself is breaking anything.
I would really prefer to not use WordPress because I like the potential for Muse and what it could mean to my site but the RSS feeds will become an important means of marketing and distribution for the site, so I do need to resolve this.
As an aside would anyone know if RSS inclusion or RSS feed readers are coming as a widget? Can I officially request it? Thanks.

I am still trying to resolve this appropriately for my needs but I did make some progress.
It took a number of trial and error attempts but I did make it so that some HTML code I added would make my site appear as an RSS readable page. HOWEVER, the HTML export of my site still maintains some of the great MUSE functionality so even with a good RSS header and trying to manually update my RSS support information RSS readers do not read it like other RSS capable sites. There are a number of RSS comic sites I was trying to link my site into and they all come back to me saying they can't read my site...usually treating me like an idiot because many non-technical people can do this though WordPress, etc. Me trying to have some control of the look and feel of my site is apparently a silly notion.
I am still working on it and will update this thread if i can reach a better resolution.

Comic project part 1:Need to pop. an array with 100 images(001.jpg-100.jpg)

Hi guys. I am trying to break down my project logically. In the first part, I need to populate an array with 100 images, named 001.jpg through 100.jpg. Any takers?

Well, I dont think its quite as complicated as it might seem. I dont want to build a comic reader that lets you download new titles. I want to build a page flipper that lets me flip back and forth between 100 images. Back button, forward button, website button in middle on the bottom.
My goal is to post the completed code online for artists to use. I will see my comic start to finish to make sure it works. Then I will do another and finish the documentation (which goes from signing up as a developer, signing up the itunes connect banking information, and finishes with submitting the app). I want to provide artists with an easily customizable framework upon they can drop their comic images appropriately named into the project folder, and compile.
Its a glorified slideshow, only one that requires a button push to advance. This way artists can be artists, not programmers. I had swiping as the interface (I have a 90% functional app, but there are changes that need to be made. Not a lot, but enough that I have to keep asking questions) until I realized that the comic can be read one handed, so I am moving to buttons! Doh!
There wont be any updating. Each issue is self contained.
Another issue with my sample code: it is set up now where I can name the images "image001.jpg" "image002.jpg" etc. This is a little cumbersome. I am hoping the array method will allow for the code to pull the images, and no one will have to trouble shoot 100 image names to find problems. I hope I am not being unclear in my explanation. Thanks for your kind words. My app works as is. But artists will immediately see the shortcomings. If I can fix only one or 2 small issues, it will be good enough for thousands of artists to pick up and use to sell comics. I have the source code for anyone that wants to take a look.

Posting comic strips or images separately from blogs

I want to make a website for my comic strips. Right now I am using Wordpress blogging software with a Comicpress plugin. This plugin allows me to post images with my blog entry but not IN my blog entry. I can then archive the blogs and images separately.
It requires using a lot of code and I'd much prefer using iWeb does anyone have any suggestions on how I can use iWeb for my comicstrip purposes?

Comic Life

I have created a page in Comic Life and would like to add it to my website. I was hoping to do this by adding another page in iWeb, but have not been able to do this. Has anyone done this ?

In Comic Life, select File/Export/To an Image.
Export your comic as a JPEG.
Create a new blank page in iWeb and drag and drop your image onto it.
Resize as necessary.
