  • Which  kind of FireWire Camera do you use with Podcast Capture software?

    Hi,
i have a little question to ask you.
Could you tell me what kind (product/model) of FW camera you use in order to record video with
    Podcast Capture 2 ?
we had verified that some FW cameras give problems during acquisition, in the details Podcast Podcature stops automatically the recording giving this error "QTErrorMediaChanged
The recording has been automatically stopped because the format of the input media changed or the media samples were invalid."
    Thanks

I've found that PC capture is a bit buggy. For me, sometimes it won't recognize the camera that's attached to the computer. I know that it's not the camera, cause if I quit PC Capture and launch quicktime, then do a video capture, it sees the camera fine. Also, it seems to be 100% reliable.
So I use it. When you're done recording, you hit stop, then click the pulldown menu ->share->Podcast Capture
It's an extra step or two, but it's not too complicated for the teachers at my school who have difficulty identifying when their network cables been pulled from the wall when the clue is "My Internet Doesn't Work."
    As to your question, Sony.
Get a cheapy DV camera. One that takes a tape. If you get one that uses a hard drive or DVD media, I've found that you're asking for trouble even if you can get it to work.
You can defeat the auto off feature on all Sony Camera's by removing the tape. For whatever reason, if you have a tape in the camera and just leave it on, it'll power off after a bit. I guess it wears down the drum or something. Take the tape out and it'll stay on indefinitely.
    Hope it helps!

  • Using Keynote with Podcast Capture and Dual Screens

    Hi everyone,
We are trying to use a dual screen setup to record some Keynote presentations using Podcast Capture (i.e Dual mode, with the Keynote presentation in one screen and the presenter in the other).
The problem we are having is that when in full screen mode, Keynote takes control of both displays, thus stopping the Podcast application from being displayed. Even if we switch off the Presenter Display on the second screen, the second screen turns black.
I know we can start and stop recording with hotkeys, but we would prefer to be able to see the Capture app in one window with the presentation full screen in the other.
Perhaps this is just an oversight on Apple's part, but I'm finding it hard to believe its not possible. If anyone else has a workaround then please share.
    Thanks.

Other applications are not visible when Keynote is playing back.  Keynote takes over control of the graphics system when playing back presentations to enable Keynote to display properly.
When I play back Keynote and I want to look at a second application, I use a second Mac.

  • Comm Errors with NI 3.1.1

I have upgraded my software to NI V3.1.1 I  get the following errors with various SMAR devices using a Rockwell CN2FF linking device:
    Read VFD List...Fail error- NIF_ERR_COMM_ERROR (Error Code=-11)
Open_VFD...Fail error- NIF_ERR_BAD_DEVICE bad device data (Error Code =-47)
I can go to the function block app, monitor mode, all data seems to be good.  The network is up and running fine. The devices that I receive the errors on change every time I log on (Via Laptop).  I have tested the network wiring and terminations , no problems were found.  What could be causing this?
I received the same errors using 2.3.6 before upgrading to 3.1.1

I've had issues with this in Version 3.2 of NI-FBUS Communications manager when I power cycled the devcie on the network many times.
NI would try to write new VCRs to communicate with the device but would write a bad VCR and then I would get those exact same errors.
The only way I could get that to work right was to write zeros to all the VCRs in the device and then delete it out of Configurator and let the device re-enumerate itself.

  • Modbus TCP comm error with fixed IP address

I am trying to communicate to a slave modbus device over ethernet using the LabVIEW Modbus library.
In the Modbus library, there is an example via "MB Ethernet Example Master.vi" that uses a fixed IP address to communicate to a slave device. When running the VI, I get error 56 indicating a timeout from the read input registers block.
I have enabled VI Server TCP/IP communication via port 502, which is consistent with modbus protocol on the slave.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
TCP/IP communication errors most often are caused by timeout conditions in either the LabVIEW TCP/IP VIs or at the operating system level. If you are sure that the network cable is properly connected to the slave device, a timeout condition of some type is likely the cause of the errors. The particular error code and symptoms associated with the error depend on whether a LabVIEW operation timed-out first or if an error is generated first by the operating system.
There are two typical error codes in cases where TCP/IP communication fails as a result of a timeout condition:
-Error 56 is generated when an operation exceeds the user-specified time limit. This error is caused by the LabVIEW code not receiving a network response in the defined time limit.
-Error 66 occurs if the TCP/IP connection is closed by the peer. In this case, Windows notices that no data is returned within a reasonable time, and it closes the TCP/IP connection. When LabVIEW attempts to communicate after Windows closes the connection, error 66 is the result.
Try to increase the length of the timeout value wired to the timeout terminal of the event structure in the Ethernet Master VI. Also, make sure your command that you are trying to write is formatted according to the manual for the slave device you have. Sometimes if the data is formatted wrong the slave cannot recognize it.

  • Podcast Capture 2 erroring randomly

We are having problems with Podcast Capture randomly displaying the error message "Recording stopped because the format of the source media changed." This happens randomly like I stated. Today, it worked fine all morning, then in the afternoon two times it came up for the instructor.
Our setup is this. We have the video from two Vaddio EVI-D70s going into an Extron PIP422 Picture-in-Picture Processor. The output is going into a Canopus ADVC-110 via composite video. Audio is coming in through the left audio in. There is nothing plugged into the right.(both analog).
The output is coming out the Canopus firewire and plugging into a new Mac Mini running 10.6.3. With this we are doing a single video capture.
Any suggestions why we are getting this error message?

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Podcast Capture but since it works only with Podcast Producer on Mac OSX Server you may be able to get help in the forum for that:

  • Podcast Capture freezes

    Hello,
    Configuration :
--- 1 capture agent on a MAC MINI under MAC OS X 10.6.5
    --- 1 PCP2 server on an XServe under MAC OS X 10.6.5
After 10 minutes capture, Podcast capture preview image freezed, but timer continued running.
After checking capture agent's status, it said "Running", but in fact, capture had stopped.
So, I stopped the capture after 30 minutes, and the video was in fact only 10 minutes long ; it stopped at the same time Podcast capture preview image freezed.
    I got these 2 error messages :
    --- on PCP2 server in /var/log/system.log :
pcastmongrel[67561]: No preview received from agent
    --- on capture agent in /var/log/system.log :

  • Using Podcast Capture with a mobile me feed?

Hi, I have a mobile me account with about 5 gb in memory. I was wondering if I could use podcast capture (snow leopard 10.6.2) and use my idisk in mobile me as my feed/ server to connect to. I will eventually be publishing my podcast to Itunes and I am trying to figure out how to either get a free onlien server or use mobile me... Is there anyway to do this? If not what solutions do you recommend thanks, cmacintosh

Podcast Capture needs to work in conjunction with Mac OSX Server and Podcast Producer: as I understand it, it's not intended for the ordinary OSX.

My recommendation would be to use Podcast Maker, which works seamlessly with your iDisk. Please see my answer in this thread:

  • WinProducer2 start error, won't run with nVidia Capture drivers

I'm not having a good experience with the bundled WinProducer2 that came with my MX440VT8x-128.
If I have either of the versions of the nVidia capture-drivers that came on the card's CD (that's v. 1.16 or 1.18)  installed, or the 1.22 version from nVidia's website (as of 2-20-03),  and then try to start WinProducer, I get the same start-error every time:
"WinProducer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows....need to restart program...an error log is being generated."
If I look at the Dr. Watson log, it says WinProducer 2 generated  "Exception Violation c00005."
If I uninstall the nVidia capture-drivers, WinProducer2 opens right up just fine, but, of course, with no capture capability.
I downloaded and tried (after uninstalling v.2) WinProducer3 from InterVideo's website yesterday (2/20/03), with the exact same results!   ???
    Anybody else having this problem?
This is under Win2k, w/SP2,  then added SP3, with no improvement.
    Stenn

After I made the original post, I tried a lot more things that didn't help:
I booted in safe mode and tried it but PSP gave an error message that it wouldn't run with the screen resolution that low (800x600); so it did try to run. So I booted normally and set the screen rez to 800x600 manually, then tried to run PSP and got the same error message.
I did a clean boot with all start-up programs and all services disabled; PSP still wouldn't run.
I disabled my anti-virus and PSP still wouldn't run.
Disabled my video card in the device manager and booted with my on-board video; PSP still wouldn't run.
There's never an error message as long as the screen rez is high enough; when I try to run it, it looks like it's starting to run but nothing ever happens.

  • Podcast Capture and Epiphan Appliance

    Hello,
We have purchased an Epiphan VGA2USB LR appliance, which is interfaced with 'Apple Mac Mini' or 'Apple Macbook Pro' computers.
We currently use 'Apple Podcast Capture' (under Mac OS X 10.6.5) in order to capture audio and video signals and to send it to a Podcast Producer 2 server (under Mac OS X 10.6.5 server).
We have recently applied the new version of Epiphan drivers (3.24.10) and we have encountered many crashes since this update. You will find below some logs in order to help you to identify the source of our problem ?
Have you already encountered this kind of problem and if yes, is there a solution ?
Thank you in advance for your answer.

I have seen these kind of crashes before (not just with the Epiphan). One thing you can do to avoid this is the following:
    • In System Preferences > Epiphan, set the resolution to 'Fixed' and select a smaller resolution like 800x600 or 640x480.
    • In the same panel, lower the maximum framerate

  • Podcast capture to User blog pages?

    Hi All
It's probably related to workflows but I'm still getting my head around PcP interacting with blog server.
PcP publishes podcast created from podcast capture to a group blog page. no probs.
What I'm not getting is how to tell Pc Capture to post the created podcast to a User blog page. I can change the publishing location by changing the "Group Short Name" in the PcP pane of server admin. This is not a very multiple user friendly.
It would make sence to me that if you log in to Pc Capture as "User X" that the default post would be applied to User X's Blog page.
Is there any way of making Pc producer behave like this? Or does it already do this and I'm just being silly?
    Thanks All

I've been working on this on and off for a couple weeks and here's where I sit.
As of 10.5.4 the pcastaction command has a userblog option which takes the following flags.
    --basedir=BASEDIR --serverurl=SERVERURL --title=TITLE
    --username=USERNAME --pcastserver=PCASTSERVER --otp=OTP
    (--content=CONTENT | --contentfile=CONTENTFILE)
    [--authorize=AUTHORIZE] [--outfile[=OUTFILE]]
Now if I try and use the Group administrator information for username or otp then it exits with and error. If I put my information in for username I don't know what or how to set the otp.
Has any body else figure out how to deal with the otp flag?
    Thanks,
    Derek

  • Error- "Unable to capture video..."

What is the solution to allow video capture in the preferred WMV mode. I know AVI mode works but compression sucks. Plus, my laptop was always able to capture vid in WMV until recently.
Now i get this error!!!!!!!!!!! Pls advice on this error:
"Unable to capture video. Pls check hard disk space and the following are set correctly: video/ audio compressor"
I know I am not the only one with this issue. yes, already tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and software fron the Creative website.
    THanks a lot for solutions!

    Addl info
    1) When using Skype, Camera and Mic work fine.
    2) When I get error - the camera view on my screen balcks out

  • I am trying to download my photos from my iphone to my mac-iphoto. It keeps trying but about halfway through it says there is an error with a photo therefore it wont download any of my pictures or videos.  It wont tell me which picture is the issue.

I took a lot of pictures and video on my recent trip to Ireland.  Now I am trying to download the photos and videos from my iphone to my mac - iphoto.  I have tried 3 times and each time (at a different point) I get a message telling me that there was an error with one of my photos and it wont load the pictures.  Help!!

Try using Image Capture to download to a folder on the Desktop.  If there's a damaged file on the iPhone that's preventing the download you can isolate it with Image Capture and then delete it from the iPhone.
