Comma in name causes bad email address formation

I tried to add several names in my address book in the form "Last, First" using the "Last" field of the address book. When I create a list composed of such names and refer to the list from Mail, the names are not quoted or escaped leaving the bare commas to fool the SMTP server into thinking I have bogus email addresses. I suppose I should stop doing this, but old (Military) habits die hard.
G4 Tower MDD 1.25 GHz 1.75GB Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I have no trouble with any of my other (several thousand) contacts in Address Book, only those with parseable punctuation, notably commas. I have many Military, Government and ex-high tech contacts that like this format and when I migrated from Solaris (phone company) to Mac I exported all my contacts which had been input using "Last, First<[email protected]>" into address book. The original quotes are gone but the problem remains. Adding quotes does not help. Maybe a goof up in the import method.
I suspect this can't be solved unless I change my ways or go back to using a LDIF compliant address book client like Mozilla under Darwin.

How to distingush delivery failure notices & bad email addresses

Hello, All:
Is there a standard for the format(content, subject, headers, etc) of delivery failure notices?
What would you do if you want to get the bad email address (Undelivery address) from the delivery failure notice? Is there a systematic way to get the bad email address instead of earching for the address string in the email?

Hi, the exception SendFailedException only happens when any of the recipient addresses is detected to be invalid by the "Transport" during message submission. It is not exactly the same as the user email does not exists.
I have tried the SendFailedException and functions you suggested. The transport does not give this exception even though the recipent's address is not valid :(..
I think the JavaMail code passes the email message to the SMTP server, the SMTP deals with the actually sending. Therefore, JavaMail code can not get its hand on the invalid email addresses.

I had a name for my user name not an email address and now I cannot get access to my itunes account

I had a simple user name through the itunes store. It was just a name not an email address, now when I sign in it sends me to an old itunes account which does not recognize purchases that I have made over the last 5 years.
Any clue as to how I can access my old account again? I tried asking the system to send me a password with my username (which is not an email address) and have yet to see an email that was on flie with that address.

Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple, Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change display name of workflow email address in sharepoint 2010.
In my environment, if I assign a task to a user, the email is as below:
The “test” is the site name, the [email protected] is the “From” user.
Do you want to change the “From” field in the workflow?
If so, you can have a look at the "Send email extended" custom SPD workflow activity (http://www.codeplex.com/SPDActivities
) which allow you to specify the sender.

MSEXchange not rejecting bad email addresses

I have written a specialized email application In ACCES 2010 for my department. At first I couldn't send email outside our domain so the server folks turned on relay and gave me a static IP address. However, now the mail server does not reject bad email
addresses unless I leave off everything to the right of the @ sign. Example my real address is
[email protected]. But if I change something in the address, such as
[email protected] I don't get an error message back from the mail server, error handling is ignored and it counts as being sent. This is true for emails going both inside and outside the domain.
It seems to me that something needs to be configured on the host, or I need to do something in my ap. (I'm no expert here.) The Send part of the code is an ACCESS 2010 function. (Mail server is MSExchange 2010.) If nothing is wrong it works great.

If you mean your rescue email address, it's in the Passwords and Security section, after you answer the two security questions.

I have the following regulare expression which I am using to validate email address format.
This allows addresses of the form

What I'm looking for is something which will allow both.

The authentication works well; however, Sharepoint shows the users’ email everywhere including at the top right suite-bar. I rather to see users’ display name instead of email. Is there any way to have SharePoint shows user’s display name instead of email
address when the primary SAML claim is email address?

Name beside my email address wont change

When i try to send an email from a different computer the name beside my email address shows my dads name. I went to appleid or something like that and changed the name to my name. But when i try to send an email it still shows his name. How can i change this or just remove his name from showing up.

Go to www.icloud.com, open contacts, mark your card, click on the little icon in the lower left corner, and choose "Make This My Card".

Handle name is my email address when I post?

I've created 2 accounts and with both accounts it appears my handle name is my name but when I edit the profile it shows my email address as my handle?
I've never posted or replied before and noticed today when I tried that when I do a preview my email address shows as the handle even when I have my profile set to not show my name or my email address?
I've read the FAQ's and help but don't see what I'm doing wrong.

IÂ´ve got the same problem and was wondering, why no one has it too.
I donÂ´t want my username to be my email adress. My profil shows my name as the handle, so itÂ´s curios that the email adress appears when previewing the post.
But itÂ´s also curios that in the Forum Settings my email adress is my handle. I have not expected differences between those.

A friend of mine has established an email distribution list on GMX. The address has the format:
group2%[email protected]
Mail.app is not able send messages to this address. All other participitants of the list do not use Mail.app and have no trouble. But me, the only Mac user, can not send messages to group2%[email protected]
What's Mail.app doing? What must I do to communicate with this group by Mail.app?

Following is my understanding, please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
We have a user Will Smith, and need it changed to
[email protected] via creating Email Address Policy.
If [email protected] has already existed in our org, it should be changed to
[email protected] .
Based on my knowledge, we can use %xg Variable Paramenter to change to
[email protected] .
However it cannot automatically change to
[email protected] if the [email protected] has already existed in our org. It means that the Email Address Policy has been changed.
To prevent duplicate addresses, we can apply some complex Email Address Policy, some like 3 letters of first name and 3 letters of last name via '%3s' and '%3g' Variable Parameters.
Maybe some scripts can achieve the goal. I suggest asking the Script Center for help, so that we can get more professional suggestions.
