Command (⌘) 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 do not function
The command key (⌘) works fine with most commands (e.g. ⌘C, ⌘V) but will not work with the numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0. I am typing this from the my macbook so obviously the numbers by themselves work fine.
Here's the even stranger part: I can go to system preferences, under keyboard preferences and set (for example) ⌘0 to a certain menu item (by entering ⌘0) but the applications will not accept/complete the command. The control key on the other hand works fine in combinations with numbers 5-0.
This has been driving me nuts for a few months — I was hoping 10.6.4 would fix it since it seems to be software problem, but no luck yet.
Any ideas?
I found the solution:
After I was confident that it wasn't a hardware problem by testing it with an external USB keyboard (duh). I found this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa;jsessionid=830967710E8EE57C1F84CA9D26D3 FF8F.node0?messageID=11294225� that says that the preference file com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist was problematic. I trashed it, restarted, and problem solved. (I don't know if the restart was necessary)

I guess the first thing you now need to do is to get the latest drivers for your printer because as you say you uninstalled it from your machine and now reinstalled it again. I don't know why you thought printer should have been uninstall;led but anyway, please reinstall the driver and then see if it is recognized by your operating system and try scanning something as a test from outside the PSE13 before going back to PSE13 and trying to scan your real image.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7 workstations, the appdata folder is redirected to a network share at \\server\profiles and several users are unable to use bookmarks getting an error about the file being in use. I'm wondering if maybe my antivirus (Trend Micro) or my backups (Symantec) might be locking up the places.sqlite for these users? Though I don't understand why it would be for some users and not others. I can't be the first one and I'm not coming up with anything searching google endlessly. Anybody else run into this?
hello, yes this is likely caused by an external program locking access to the bookmarks/history database. you could try renaming the file in question & see if it is working when it is regenerated, this will clear bookmarks and the history though, so keep a backup...

Blue line or blue frame appears and icons do not function ?
When I boot up my Stream 7 tablet a blue line appears on the screen. If I try to tap an icon, the selection does not function?
If I click an icon or a place on the start up screen I blue line seem to frame the area and nothing will function?

ThanksI am having a hard time visualizing the issue.. are you able to grab some pictures? If you shut down the tablet (Hold the power button if you can't shut down normaly) and reboot then no matter what you did, you should get the logon screen and then normal tab window (abit, missing tabs if you had been deleting them).

My issue is with the keybaord of my Macbook Pro. Just yesterday I noticed the following problems with my keyboard.
Error Issue:
Right Shift key+D
Right Shift key+C
Right Shift key+E
Left CMD+C
Are all not functioning. I don't know what happened, I ran the keyboard viewer and tested all these keys out, the weird thing is that I can use the alternate keys on right and left, like shift and CMD.
Please help your urgent feedback is appreciated.I suggest trying the following (check after each step):
1) Reboot

I installed the latest version of Firefox when I was prompted. It was not until after the process was complete was I informed that certain aspects of my Norton and Words programs would not function, and that currently there is no fix available. How can you resolve this? Can I go back to the previous version?

MarkSymantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have released an update for Norton 360 to make it compatible with Firefox 4, for details see http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about other Norton products, but if you run Norton LiveUpdate it should inform you if there are updates available. If no updates are available, you can downgrade to Firefox 3.6 if you want to use the Norton add-ons.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

JTree cut and paste multiple child and ancestor nodes not function correct
Hello i'm creating a filebrowser for multimedia files (SDK 1.22) such as .jpg .gif .au .wav. (using Swing, JTree, DefaultMutableTreeNode)
The problem is I want to cut and paste single and multiple nodes (from current node til the last child "top-down") which partly functions:
single nodes and multiple nodes with only one folder per hierarchy level;
Not function:
- multiple folders in the same level -> the former order gets lost
- if there is a file (MMed. document) between folders (or after them) in the same level this file is put inside one of those
I tried much easier functions to cope with this problem but every time I solve one the "steps" the next problem appears...
The thing I don't want to do, is something like a LinkedList, Hashtable (to store the nodes)... because the MMed. filebrowser would need to much resources while browsing through a media library with (e.g.) thousands of files!
If someone has any idea to solve this problem I would be very pleased!

Brightness Keys (F9 and F10) Do Not Function
For the life of me, I can not adjust the screen brightness using either the F9 or F10 keys. I have to go into System Preference>Displays and then use the brightness slider to adjust it higher or lower. The "Automatically adjust brightness" button is unchecked.
Not having functional F9/F10 Keys is very annoying.

Not the MBP's problem, actually, just that there's more than one kind of brightness to control - we say "it's not a bug, it's a feature"
The F9 and F10 +do not+ control screen brightness, they control the brightness of the keyboard backlighting (the lights under the keys). The F1 and F2 keys control screen brightness.
You do need to have the box for "Use function keys to control software functions" unchecked as the previous poster indicated, or if you need those keys for software functions, you can use Option + F-key to control hardware.
Now, when you press F9 and F10 and see the prohibitory sign, that is because the keyboard backlight only operartes in dim light. So, go into a dark room, your keys will light up, and F9 and F10 will control that brightness.

Recently my system got update from MS now its running on Windows 8.1. After updating my games are not working properly
the games were running at very low FPS even key event and mouse event are lately taken. Even i updated drivers still its not working.
In windows 8 all games were running very smoothly. Only after updating i am seeing this issue.VRA
