Command-arrow Previous Folder in Mountain Lion

On a computer that is still in Mountain Lion, I miss the command-arrow shortcuts to switch to the previous/next folder, equivalent to clicking arrows in the top left corner of any Finder window. Cannot find a different shortcut in the lists. If I need to define this myself in the System prefs, what is the exact name of this command? thanks.

I don't find those keyboard shortcuts: OS X keyboard shortcuts.  Those arrows in a Finder window use the shortcut of COMMAND-[ and COMMAND-].

As indicated in the linked article, read/write is good.
However, if you using Time Machine, and you are going to be making lots of changes and the folder is going to hold a large amount of data (like tens of GB), then choose SparseBundle so that Time Machine can work with it efficiently.

  • Displaying the number of files in a folder with Mountain Lion?

I recently purchased a new iMac with Mountain Lion and I pretty much hate it. I have been a fan of just about EVERY update, so I am not resistant to change. I just think this is an inferior product. It is slow, clunky, and the update alerts remind me of everything that I hated about PCs. Meh.
Anyway, one of the main problems I have with it is that in previous versions, when I opened a folder, there was a little bit of information at the bottom of the folder that told me how many files were in that folder. As a photographer, I use this information ALL THE TIME. I realize I can click on the folder and "get info" to see how many files are in it...but this is extremely inefficient (especially considering how slow the brand new system is -- in spite of the 3.4 Hz processor and 16GB of RAM).
I can't seem to find anything in the preferences that allows me to change this. If there is a way, I would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me how! Thank you!

Where do I put my Sampler Instruments, Plug-In Settings, etc..... in Mountain Lion?

    User/Library>Music>Audio Music Apps>Sampler instruments.
Give it a try, I'm not clear about what you're trying to achieve.  I personally don't have hardly more than a few "samples" that I have edited in EXS24.  So then I just import them from those projects when I want to use them in new projects.
There are much more knowledgable peeps than me, and I imagine your problem can be solved!

  • HT6114 Do I have to re-install all of my software that was previously installed on Mountain Lion onto OSX Mavericks?

I have about 4 Digital Audio Workstations (DAW's), Adobe Master Suite, Native Instruments Maschine Studio, Komplete 9, and loads of other plugins that will literally take days upon days to install.
Will I have to re install all of my software or are all my programs automatically integrated into the OSX Mavericks upgrade?
I have completed a Time Machine Backup already of everything.
    Thank you guys kindly

If you are upgrading an existing system, then the only software affected is OS X. All other files are left in place untouched. Some of that software may require updating for Mavericks compatibility. You also need to be sure all your hardware meet the Mavericks requirements.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?

  • Does the Undo command work in Finder anymore (Mountain Lion)?

I used to be able to Undo an accidental file move, etc. with a quick Command-Z. Not anymore. Is there a workaround, or some other option I am not aware of? Thanks.

It's a long shot, but here goes. My previous employer used a different email login scheme than the default Outlook suggestion. They used three letters followed by 4 numbers, XXXNNNN, instead of the first part of the email address [email protected] So, if you setup Oulook with the default settings, without correcting the login entry, it would not find the server.
Keep in mind that many employers specifically try to block the use of home computers with their exchange mail servers for security reasons. Your employer's IT group also have the option with Exchange server of remotely removing the email from your cell phone.

A number of my adobe apps are now not there?  where are they kept to see if there is an update for them for ML?

From what I found was the reason I did not find the folder was that I had no incompatible software to put in one.  So all was well with the pre work I did on app prep before the install.  Thanks much.

    Hi there,
Did anyone else notice that command click in spotlight on mountain lion does not open finding in the folder of the file that you clicked on?
Worked up till the last version....
Or am I doing something wrong here?

I had this bug too until I came across a fix for a seperate Archive Utility issue. The fix also fixed this Spotlight issue for me.
The fix is to kill a process called appleventsd in Activity Monitor. I'm not sure if the fix will survive a reboot.
    See this for more https://discussions.apple.com/message/20995764#20995764
(Before enabling the fix, try decompressing a zip file or othe bz2 file uing Archive Utility and see does it jus stall. You may have the Arvive Utility issue too)
