Did you install anything else with liveupdate?
Can you try System Restore Point?
Simple guide if you're not sure what it is:

Doesn't remove anything, but helps with broken registries and other things that might have corrupted system files.
If still no go, try to use CCleaner to clean everything (uncheck things like browser history, saved passwords etc) and perform full cleaning (look through it can clean, so you don't remove things you don't want to). Then go to Registry cleaning and do the same (still in CCleaner). Then reboot and try again.
And last see if the crash description has changed (if it still doesn't work). We'll think about something new then.
