• Link to Open New Window not working on Intranet

I hope someone can help me. I created a PDF file with pages that contain links. I directed the linked files to open up in a new window. The linked files open in a new window on my hard drive but when I uploaded the pdf file and the links folder to our intranet at work, the links work but the files do not open in a new window. They open in the same window. Please help.
Thanks

• JavaScript to Open New Window Not Working

I am trying to program a button to open a pop-up window. I
have read several of the previous posts regarding this problem
(seems to be pretty common), and have tried the resolutions, but
still no luck. My button (despite the code) simply just advances to
the next screen. For the button, I have programmed it so it
launches the following JavaScript code:
javascript: openNewWin();
In the standard.js file I have copied the following code per
a previous post:
function openNewWin()
var o = window.open('CDMTS Course Map.htm','Course
Map','left=0, top=0, width=1280, height=800, titlebar=no,
menubar=no, toolbar=no, location=no, directories=no, resizable=yes,
scrollbars=yes, status=no');
o.focus();
In the post that I received this direction, it mentioned
something about putting this code in the Publish folder of
captivate. I'm not 100% sure that I've placed it in the right one,
but I think so.
Can anyone help me with this problem? It seems like such an
easy thing to do!
Thanks,
Kristi

• Command-T opens new window not new Tab with Snow Leopard

Does anyone else have this issue? Command-T opens new window not new Tab with SL.
And yes all my settings are correct!!

Greetings,
If your preferences for Tabs are correctly set (the top two checkboxes are checked) and it's still opening a new window, then it would seem your preferences may be corrupt. In that case, you should quit Safari, go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.Safari.plist file.
Then restart Safari, setup your preferences again, and test to see if it works.

• JavaScript and "Open In New Window" not working.

I've been using Safari 5 since it came out and there were no problems. But recently my JavaScript has stopped working. Whenever I click on a link that is supposed to run a script nothing happens. Similarly when I click a link that is supposed to open automatically in a new window, nothing happens. I've tried reseting Safari but that did not help. I had this same issue with Safari 4 and the update to 5 solved it, but now I do not know what to do.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab.
Make sure Java is enabled.
And, from a Finder window select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
I had this same issue with Safari 4 and the update to 5 solved it, but now I do not know what to do.
If nothing above helps, install the v10.6.4 Combo Update
Then repair permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac*.

• "Open Link in new window" not working with OBIEE 10.1.3.4

Hi All,
Recently we upgraded from Siebel Analytics to OBIEE 10.1.3.4.
In OBIEE Go to Settings > Administration > Managae Interactive Dashboard > Select any Dashboard > Right Click on Properties tab > Open Link in New window:
This throws an error saying "javascript:void(null)".
In Siebel Analytisc the above functionality used to work.
Does anyone knows thereason behind this?
Regards,
Apoorv

Get Firebug and inspect the element. You'll see that it actually is this:
onclick="javascript:saw.runThis
URL('saw.dll?PortalProperties&_scid=To2OnvCVXpY&PortalPath=/shared/paint/_portal/PoC\x2520FINS&Done=ManagePortals\x2526Done\x253dAdmin');return false" href="javascript:void(null)" FF doesn't even give you the "Open..." options and all IE versions as of 7 show them but actually don't do anything when you invoke them.

• Open Link in New Window not working

Using iWeb 08, I create a new entry on my blog/news page, highlight the text, go to the link tab, paste in a website, make sure 'Link to an External Page' is selected, and put a tick in 'Open Link in New Window'.
When published it opens in the same window. Is this a bug or how can I correct it?

Try redoing your link and, this time, deselect the link on the page and look at the inspector window to see if anything has changed. Then check the 'make hyperlinks active box". Your linked page should open in the browser when you click the link on the iWeb page.
If this is OK do a "publish all to .Mac" and empty your browser cache before visiting your site.

• Open Browser Window - Not working correctly.

I click the thumbnail on my homepage, I get a larger image in
a new window. Unfortunately, the homepage also redirects itself to
the larger image. You can see this at www.real9.com
I want the homepage to stay where it is, but the larger
window to open in a new window. I used the Open Browser window in
Dreamweaver to set this link up, but its not doing what I want it
too.
Help would be much appreciated, I have been trying to fix
this problem, but no success.
Thank you.

That's one way of handling it. My own preference is to leave
the link in
there and add a return false after the onclick handler. That
way the
link will still work if JavaScript is not available.
To implement that, your onclick for the link looks like this:
onclick="MM_openBrWindow('pics/inside_large.jpg','LargePicture','width=640,height=480')"
Change it to:
onclick="MM_openBrWindow('pics/inside_large.jpg','LargePicture','width=640,height=480');re turn
false"
Careful of word wrap. It's all on one line.

• Firefox opens new window not tab

Firefox opens a new window rather then tab from any other process calling firefox. Example screen grab utility needs to load a new url. FF opens a new instance of firefox. It use to open a new tab.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• Open browser window - not working right in different browsers

My client wants to link to a video on another company's site (he has permission). When I use the DW behavior of Open Browser Window in a specifc size it acts weird, depending on which broswer is used. I've used this function many times over the years and never had this problem until now.
Here is the page: http://www.jesseyoung.com/clients/pristine/services/chimney_sweeps.shtml If you click on the blue graphic "Chimney safety institute of America" it is supposed to open in a 620x460 window. But the client says that sometimes it opens a second full browser window of the site, and also a window with the video, which is not sized properly. It happens with Safari and Firefox, on both is Mac and PC. On my PC it all seems to work fine.
Any suggestions? Could this be something to do with the fact that the video is hosted on someone else's site?

• Back button in new window not working

When opening a new window and navigating to further pages the back button is still grey and does not work.
When opening a new tab in the same window and navigating to further pages it works correctly.
Therefore the problem is only when opening a new page.
This is different to problems other people are having on this forum as they have problems on all tabs/pages.
Mac OSX 10.4.11
Firefox version 3.6.17

Thanks cor-el for the reply. Your reference to Add-on was very helpful.
It was the add-on called Image Tweak that was causing the problem.
Just as a side point and this is aimed at Firefox, as usual the instructions within the help section of Firefox are for PCs and not Macs. The basic instruction for Safe Mode does not seem to apply to Macs even the 'Hold down shift key' instruction.
Putting in 'Start with Safe Mode Mac' in the search facility comes up with 294 results - none about starting in safe mode.
Thanks again cor-el.

• Open Browser window not working in IE8

This site: http://www.addieville.com/ruger.htm works fine in all browsers, including IE6 and IE7. However, when I checked IE8 and click on a link, it does nothing. The only way to get the another browser window to open is to right click on the link and choose open in new window. What is my problem? (or better, IE 8's problem...)

amykay38 wrote:
One other thing - that version of IE is on XP - does that pose a problem?
I have just fired up my old XP machine. For some reason, clicking those links in IE8 on XP opens the link in a new window, but causes the main window to crash. It doesn't do that on Vista.
One thing I noticed is that you're using a script called minmax.js. Presumably, this is to emulate min-width, max-width, etc on IE. This is needed only for IE6. Since IE7, Internet Explorer has supported minimum and maximum widths and heights. The script is generating an error in IE8.

• Master Password Feature: After sometime (10-15 min.) the drop down list for the field on any site does not show; opening new window (not refresh or new tab) drop down appears.?

I manage a ton of accounts for different customers suing the same login pages (GoDaddy, WordPress, etc.) I use the Master Password Feature to help keep track of the many variants in logins and passwords.
After some unknown period of time, even closing the page tab so a new page session is started at the remote server, Firefox does not provide me with the usual drop-down selection list of the previously used login names. However, if I open a new FF window (file/new window) from the menu bar, the drop down becomes available.
How can I refresh the original window session in FF or change the timeout length?

Well, you said LOV...that might mean you are using JDev 11g. Are you? If so what technology stack are you using?
Assuming you are using JSF (?) you might be "backing" your list component in the application scope...but that is not likely.
If you are using ADF/BC on your business component level, you can clear your view object from which you are querying the possible values of this list...unless your you have made a method to compile this list...in which case you know what you are doing...so that is probably not the case.
Essentially you want to requery the VO upon which your LOV is based...unless you are using JPA or something...and then I know "requery" is not the right word...is it?

• Hotmail opens new window not new tab

I have used firefox for a long time and had no problems. Now, all of a sudden when I open my bookmarks or hotmail they open a new window and not a tab. I never changed anything to make this happen it just started happening. I turned my computer on and restarted it but it didn't help. I already tried different things and then I went on firefox support and I read my problem on the forum and what I should do about it. (I have a mac) Someone said to go to about:config and then go to browser.link.open_newwindow and chage it to 3 but when I typed in about:config it says warning this could void your warranty do not go here unless you know what you're doing! Needless to say, I got scared and stopped!!

You posted with an old and no longer supported Firefox 3.0.6 version.
You should update to a more recent Firefox 3.6.6 (or 3.5.10) version.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See Troubleshooting extensions and themes and Troubleshooting plugins
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
