Command clicking in timeline disabled?

I am trying to select multiple clips in the timeline by holding down the Command key and clicking on them. FCPX just keeps jumping to the new clip I click without maintaining the highlight of the previous clip. Command key works with all other key combos in the timeline and Command click highlighting works in the browser and index. I have reset keyboard commands to default. Anybody else have the issue or any idea how to fix it?

Haven't heard of this one.
Try these:
Delete preferences.
Revert to Original Layout.
Duplicate the keyboard layout and use the copy.

  • Photoshop CS6 [ Command + Click ] Layer Selection "Problem" Solved

    Good afternoon fellas,
I've recently noticed something uncommon when working with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS X 10.8.x.
When I naturally tried to select a Layer by the [ Command + Click ] (let's say) shortcut, it failed. This little thing was driving me nuts, and I know it must be getting some people hairless, too.
Anyway(s), by looking another read-only thread, I noticed the problem has not been solved and some pretty lame recommendations were given. By try, I finally found the solution and was able to fix this little annoyance that maybe we've all been through. So here it goes the workaround, so maybe you'll never consider downgrading to 5.5 again like I was considering:
    1) In Photoshop, make sure the Move Tool is selected by pressing "V";
    2) In the tool's submenu, forget about selecting/marking "Auto-Select". I know it sounds nonsense, trust me;
    3) Although, make sure "Layer" is selected right next to the "Auto-Select" button, and you should be done as I am.
Hope this can help a few people! I would be very happy to know, since I just created this account to help you guys out.
I don't know if this issue has been solved and posted already, I'm sorry. I just want to make sure we'll be all happy!
    Cheers,
    "Let it go, Jack."

Did you actually took a look into Photoshop CS 6 before posting?
Been using Photoshop since legacy 6.0.
This was one feature that started off without being able to enable/ disable 'auto-select' sometime in 2003-2004 releases which was later appended to newer versions of Photoshop.
I see your screenshot and I'm aware there is a 'tick' mark that appears next to Layer or Group when you choose either of them.
But, without enabling 'auto-select', the selection you make in that dropdown will not have any effect.
    Try it for yourself.
    Create a new document
Create any layer (rectangle, ellipse, whatever)
Once created, deselect all layers (layers panel should not highlight any layer)
Disable auto select. Choose 'Layer' from dropdown. Single click on the layer you just created. See what Photoshop says
Now enable auto select. Choose 'Layer' from dropdown. SIngle click on the layer you just created. See what happens in Photoshop (Layers Panel)
Cause I really wouldn't waste my time posting something wrong.
I didn't say you posted something wrong. Neither would I be 'wasting' my time in responding to a post that I feel is incorrect. End of the day, this is a community and we're here to help each other and at no time should other fellow members be deceived by incorrect information.

  • Error when double clicking a timeline clip

    Hello,
I'm editing a movie on the latest and legal version of Mac's Premiere Pro CC. I began working on various projects and some days ago I merged them into one. Now, when I double click a timeline clip to preview or modify the in/out point of it an issue closes the software.
Message: Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.
If I double click the same clip in the project window the preview works without problems.
Everything was working perfectly on the independent projects. I have done that thousand times by importing various projects into one and it have always worked well.
I'm working with Apple ProRes files.
    Thnks for your time!

First thing to try is clearing the preferences: with Premiere closed, go to Documents/Adobe/Premiere Pro/8.0 and rename the folder "Profile-<username>." Launch PPro and see if the crash still happens. It's kind of a generic troubleshooting step, but a good place to start.
Also, go to File>Project Settings>General and check the Renderer setting. If it's set to use GPU acceleration, set it to Software Only. [Given that your graphics card has only 1/4GB of RAM, GPU acceleration should not even be available as an option. But given some recent changes, it's worth double-checking.]

  • I would like all links to open in the active tab, unless I command-click on the link.

I've searched for answers to this question, and I was able to adjust the values for preferences in about:config so that all links open in the active tab, but after doing so I am unable to command-click to open a link in a new tab. Is there any way to change certain preferences so that command-clicking will override the browser.link.open_newwindow preferences? Or maybe there's some other way around this?
This might seem like an odd request, but several sites I use (Tumblr especially) open nearly all links in a new tab by default, and it quickly gets out of hand. A "same-tab unless command-click" configuration would allow me to control where every link opens. Also, I would still like all links from external applications to load in a new tab.
    I'm using Firefox 32.0 on Mac OS X 10.9.4.
    Thanks

Your request sounds similar to this old thread, except that you want a different setting for the third preference: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/985943 How do I get when I click on a link it will not open in new tab? I want to open in the same tab where I clicked on that click.]
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste <strong>about:config</strong> and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste <strong>link.o</strong> and pause while the list is filtered.
    (3) Double click these to modify the values as desired:
    <strong>(A) browser.link.open_newwindow</strong>
3 = divert new window to a new tab (<u>default</u>) (checked*)
2 = allow link to open a new window (unchecked*)
'''1 = force new window into same tab'''
<strong>*</strong> First checkbox in Options &gt; Tabs
<strong>(B) browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction</strong> - for links in Firefox tabs
'''0 = apply the setting under (A) to ALL new windows (even script windows)'''
2 = apply the setting under (A) to normal windows, but NOT to script windows with features (<u>default</u>)
1 = override the setting under (A) and always use new windows
<strong>(C) browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external</strong> - for links in other programs
-1 = apply the setting under (A) to external links (<u>default</u>)
'''3 = open external links in a <u>new tab</u> in the last active window'''
    2 = open external links in a <u>new window</u>
1 = open external links in the <u>last active tab</u> replacing the current page
    Does that combination work?

  • Command + Click on link to open in new tab suddenly not working

I am an enthusiastic user of command + click to open a link in a new tab, but it suddenly stopped working earlier today and I cannot figure out how to re-enable this feature. I'm on the beta release cycle at version 7.0, with several addons installed, including (perhaps relevantly) Tab Mix Plus.

This is a link to a modified (by the Greasemonkey devs) version of Tab Mix Plus. Works around the bug until the TMP guys do so officially.

  • Command click to open link in new tab no longer works in google scholar

Well the question basically says it all. Starting a couple of weeks ago, i have not been able to command click links to open in new tabs (I am on a mac, OS X 10.6.8). This includes links to google books as well as library links. This only happens on google scholar. It also happens in 'safe mode'. I have contacted google support who have stated that this is a browser issue. They have not changed the coding of the scholar site. This is very frustrating. I have used FF for years and am now going to have switch to Safari, whose own command click function continues to work in google scholar. Any thoughts/ suggestions?

Yes this issue is definitely related to Firefox. As I stated at the outset, the command click works fine in safari (although I prefer not to use it due to its restriction of automatically opening enw files in EndNote).
I was curious as to whether the issue was triggered by new coding on the part of Google scholar. Doesn't seem that way. Although I am still curious whether some of the style coding of the scholar page is creating issues... Given that command clicking works on every other page including regular Google searches...
The point though, was to generate some leads as to where this problem may best be addressed and what is the best language with which to do so...
Any advice on how to actually get these questions to Firefox support? That is how I wound up here in the first place!

  • Command-Click Channel Icon Selects inverse in CMYK/RGB channels?

Photoshop CS4, Mac, PPC OS 10.5.8.
When i command+click on a channel icon to select the contents of a channel in CMYK or RGB mode, it selects the white/highlights instead of the shadow/content of the channel. The opposite is true when I command+click on spot color channels.
I'd like to be able to command+click, say, on the cyan channel and have my selection be the contents of the cyan channel rather than the white/absence of cyan. What am I missing? I know I can command+click, then select inverse, but why is the behavior different between CMYK and spot channels, and is there any way to change the behavior?

Not just looking at the marquee. If I copy the contents of the selection to another channel it is definitely the inverse of the channel that I've command+clicked. Not having any actual problems selecting with the usual selection tools.

  • Command click in 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0.4

I just upgraded to 10.4.11 on my MacBook Pro laptop.
Before the upgrade, when I wanted to open a website new window, I would "Command click" on the link and it would open the site in a new window.
Now when I "Command click" it does not open in a new window, but it makes some funky "tab" at the top of the browser. Is there anyway to open in a new window -- I don't like this new system.
    thanks,
    Dan Coogan

That's easy. Go to preferences -> Tabs.
the first option defines the ⌘-click behavior.
    Hope this helps

  • Command click to open new window not working

Command clicking my favorites in Safari does not open them in a new window.
"Command + Click opens a link in a new tab" is checked under "Tabs" in the preferences plane.
    MacBook Pro (17-inch)
    OS X (10.10.2)
    Safari (Version 8.0.4)
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Eric,
Thanks for the prompt reply and suggestion.
Unfortunately command - option/alt - click doesn't do it either.

  • Command+Click in bookmarks isn't working properly

before I updated the recent security update, the function works just fine in bookmarks.
In Safari, command+click is suppose to open a link in a new tab section (it's set under the safari preferences). This command+click works under bookmarks as well. However, after I installed the recent newest security update, the shortcut key doesn't work properly.
I usually would only need to hold down command and click "once" on the link in bookmarks. But, now I have to click "twice" or even "3" times to open the link in a new tab. It's annoying because sometimes it may open 2 of the same link. (my keyboard and touch pad work perfectly fine)
Is it just me? Or anyone else has the same problem?

Shutdown and flip your machine over to check the fit of the battery compartment cover, and then the battery itself.  An apparently common problem is battery swelling which both pushes the cover down/out, while pushing up on the underside of the trackpad, causing strange inputs/behaviors.

  • Command click in spotlight (mountain lion)

    Hi there,
Did anyone else notice that command click in spotlight on mountain lion does not open finding in the folder of the file that you clicked on?
Worked up till the last version....
Or am I doing something wrong here?

I had this bug too until I came across a fix for a seperate Archive Utility issue. The fix also fixed this Spotlight issue for me.
The fix is to kill a process called appleventsd in Activity Monitor. I'm not sure if the fix will survive a reboot.
    See this for more https://discussions.apple.com/message/20995764#20995764
(Before enabling the fix, try decompressing a zip file or othe bz2 file uing Archive Utility and see does it jus stall. You may have the Arvive Utility issue too)

Command Click in edit changes color white balance and tint in edit, what is happening?

    robwouds:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Must be a hidden keyboard combination for temperature and tint. Not sure if the user can set different settings of each that the keystrokes will take you thru. Just hit the reset button in the Adjust pane to get it back to normal.

  • Can't select multiple objects in Pages 10 with "command+click".

I've always been able to "command+click" to select multiple objects in Pages. However, since I updated to Pages 10, this shortcut does not work. Any thoughts?

Apple is trying to make the iOS version and Mac versions match. Some incredibly stupid or lazy developers/designers took the iOS version as the standard and changed the OSX version to match. The stupidity in this is that iOS is not a good platform for work in the first place, it's incredibly cludgy to edit/write documents on the ipad, email maybe but editing real documents is a pain is the wazoo. The iPad is ok for watching videos, reading, browsing, but not for efficient work. Being able to select multiple items and work on them is a basic feature of most editors and has been for years. Microsoft Office for OSX is so much better that it will be difficult for Apple can catch up even if they wanted to. It's too bad for Apple makes prettier apps. And now MS Word for the iPad is available and free.

  • Why doesn't command-click always open links new tabs?

Right-clicking on links and selecting "Open link in new tab" always works as described, but command-clicking on links only sometimes opens them in new tabs. I am guessing that it is Javascript related, but why can the contextual menu work, and not the click?

''Edit: You might already have this set if the right-click option always works.''
By default, Firefox will divert standard new windows to a tab, but if the link actually is a script that launches a window with special parameters, like a dialog, then Firefox will honor that. There is an obscure setting to disregard those parameters and force all scripted windows into a new tab as well.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''link.o''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double click these and set the value as desired:
    '''(A) browser.link.open_newwindow'''
    '''3 = divert new window to a new tab (<u>default</u>)''' (checked*)<br>
2 = allow link to open a new window (unchecked*)<br>
1 = force new window into same tab
'''*''' First checkbox in Options > Tabs
    '''(B) browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction'''
'''0 = apply the setting under (A) to ALL new windows (even script windows)'''<br>
2 = apply the setting under (A) to normal windows, but NOT to script windows with features (<u>default</u>)<br>
1 = override the setting under (A) and always use new windows
    Does that work?
