"Command Failed" error in Oracle Discoverer 10g

Hi All,
I am getting "Command Failed" while exporting XML work book in discoverer administrator.
Here the steps as I followed.
Step1: Login into Discoverer Administrator and connect EUL database.
Step2: Choose File->Export
Step3: Choose selected objects in the End user Layer radio button
Step4: Choose Workbooks object from drop down and selected workbook
Setp5: Click on browse button to chose the XML path in your PC and checked the button for “Generate XML for exported workbooks.
Please let me know how to resolve this issue.
The "Command Failed" error is comming only for cutom workbooks, not for oracle seeded ones.

Differences between Oracle Discoverer 10g and 11g (EBS & Desktop)

We are in the process of upgrading from Oracle Discoverer 10g testing to Oracle Discoverer 11g.
We have had several requests (from functional users) for documentation that might reflect the changes in this release level. Does anyone have relevant documentation that might help explain what has changed so that they can be better prepared.

We are in the process of going from 10 desktop to 11 plus. I do not like it as other end-users I have talked to don't either. In desktop, I could have multiple reports open at one time, move tabs from one report to another so I wouldn't have to rebuild the report again. Also, there are times I have 3 or more sessions of desktop running with multiple reports running in them. In plus, I am limited to one session and one report. That slows down productivity big time. In desktop, exporting crosstabs to excel is more user friendly than plus. For desktop, it will fill in the cells below with the data above it if it changes. In plus, it looks like a pivot table. I have read other posts on how to work around that, but not always functional. Using Dense_Rank() works sometimes depending on how the report is written. IT is researching another way but haven't heard back from the consultants. Or, I will have to modify all my excel files with formulas to do that for me. Also in desktop, I can select all and copy paste the results into excel and all data comes in. The row and column headers, page items and even the title section will paste into excel. Plus only gives you the data, no row or column headers. So I have to export it every time I need the data. I have formatted excel files that all I need to do is copy paste and data flows beautifully. As for organizing and saving reports, desktop is much better. I can save reports out on our network under different folders so I can find them faster by topic. Granted, if that directory is an open one, anyone can change/delete it. In plus, the only advantage of saving it on the database is I can sort and search for reports or users. If you make any changes in plus and then walk away from your desk, plus will shut down after a certain time period. If you didn't save it, you have to start over. Don't know if this is something IT can fix???
As we see it, plus is a step back in technology. I hope someone can change that opinion. Don't know if we are not getting the best support from whoever is working with us (Oracle or 3rd party) or we are missing something???? If so, please share.

we would like to know if they are any differences between Oracle Discoverer 10g and 11g and any issues with 10g that are overcome in 11g.
Please make us aware of any merits in going for 11g over 10g.

Error installing Oracle Developer 10g R2

First off, please let me know if this is the wrong forum.
I'm trying to install Oracle Dev 10g R2 on a Windows XP SP3 x86 computer, but I'm getting an error every time I start it. We have it extracted to two folders, one for disk 1 and one for disk 2. I go into disk 1, install, and click setup.exe. The command prompt comes up, I can see it say everything passes, then after maybe 10 seconds it crashes while trying to load the Oracle Universal Installer. The error message is: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in setup.exe [2320]".
I only have Visual Studio 2005 installed right now (we're trying to create a base image to make system deployment easier, and the dev that needs this particular laptop requires a different version of VS than the rest of the devs so I haven't installed 2008 or 2010 yet). Could that be the cause? Does 10g R2 require VS 2008 or 2010 to be installed or something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I re-imaged the laptop, and the install went through this time.

Currently we are facing issue while starting the WLS_DISCO discoverer service through node manager as:
java.io.IOException: Server failed to start up. See server output log for more details.

i have a created a table in oracle database 10g

i want insert an image and retrieve an image through programing(don't want block level) in oracle forms 10g
without using java beans(and finely working in both windows XP2 and Solaries)

You can use WEBUTIL to do so, but
without using java beans(and finely working in both windows XP2 and Solaries)WEBUTIL also contains javabean. I don't know why you have this restriction, i'd say you won't succeed without any java-bean.

Getting past "Fetch VLAN configuration - Command failed" errors in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 - How?

I've got a handful of devices in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 which show up in the "Archive Failed Devices" view. The "Failure Reason" is some variation of "Fetch VLAN configuration - Command failed" sometimes including "TELNET: Failed to establish TELNET connection to x.x.x.x". What does this mean? How do I overcome this? In all cases, the device is configured to use SSH and has valid SSH credentials. In all cases, I can SSH from the command line of the NCS appliance to the devices listed in the "Archive Failed Devices" view.

I was able to fix the "Fetch VLAN configuration - Command failed" by allowing tftp from the device to PI server in firewall. See if this can help.

"Attempt to open workbook failed" error while opening Discoverer report

Discoverer is opening and connecting but its throwing an error "Attempt to open Workbook failed".
same report is opening If I call from a .bat file.
Only problem is coming when I call from from using host command.
Please do help me on this as its very urgent.

We are having exactly the same problem. I've come to the point that there's a problem between Discoverer Desktop 4i and XP SP3.
The scenario we have is:
a) If an user with SP2 creates a workbook and saves it into the network shared folder,
a.1) It can be opened by users with SP2 as many times as the want. They just receive the "Open Workbook as Read Only" warning message.
a.2) Users with SP3 can open it only if the workbook is not open by any other user. After that all users receive the "Attempt to Open..." error message.
a.3) If a user with SP3 makes any change to the workbook and saves it, it doesn't matter which SP version you have, the file becomes "corrupt" and only one user can open it at the same time.
b) If an user with SP3 creates a workbook and saves it into the network shared folder it can only be opened by one user at the same time
I've also made tests and the same error occurs if the .dis file is located in a local directory (c:\My Documents for example). I can not open it twice in my computer in two different discoverer desktop instances, and I have SP3, while another user with SP2 can.
Any ideas? Our Discoverer Desktop version is 4.1.48.06.00

Error installing oracle infrastructur 10g

operating system: RedHat AS 3.0
The installation hangs every time on 59%.
The error massage is: The OPMN Process Manager failed to start.
I try to start opmn manually : ./opmnctl start
open failed for /oracle/dcm/config/dcm.conf (No such file or directory)
opmnctl: opmn start failed
And I check dcm.conf, it's true no such file there

What version of Application Server Infrastructure are you trying to install? 10.1.2.0.2 or 10.1.4, or older?
1. Have you worked through all pre-requirements stated in the Installation Guide?
2. Did you have any warning in the installer on the Prerequisite Check screen?
3. Check the whole log-out put on the Configuration Assistant screen in the installer
4. Check log-file in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs
5. (don't try to do any manual commands like opmnctl start during the installation)

The problem was with a few environment variables. Our DBA has changed the convention of f90 and hence the change in environment variables.

Impdp command returning errors in oracle xe

I am using a CentOS server with Oracle express edition installed on it .
I tried to import a dump file with the impdp command and got following list of errors .
ORA-39002:

ORA-02354:
ORA-39776:
ORA-12952:
What could be the possible cause for the errors ? Any help will be appreciated .

The errors that came were because of the exceeded size limit that is 4 GB ... The dump file is a valid data pump file and i tried importing partial dump .
Now , i am using the following import command and am still getting some errors :

Assertion failed error on oracle 9i Dev.Suite

hi,
I installed oracle 9i Dev. Suite but I cannot start forms builder & Reports developer as it says assertion failed-line 428: on microsoft visual c++ runtime library dialog.
when i ignore it shuts down. i have forms 6i on a different oracle home and it is working fine. any suggestions?

You definitely need some environment variables set. The most common cause of this error is failure to set the DISPLAY variable. If you do a search on MetaLink for the combination of those two errors, you should see articles that will help you. One such article is Note.1075912.6 Troubleshooting FRM-91111 internal error - window system startup failure followed by FRM-10039, which contains several suggested solutions.
