Command for sleeping the display?

Hello!
Is the a way/command that can sleep the display and not the computer? the only way that works so far is waiting for the thing to go idle.
cheers

You'll find the settings in the Energy Saver Preference Pane.
I have my computer set to "never" and the display set to 45 minutes.

  • Is there a way to just sleep the display to sleep in 10.6 w/o system prefs?

    I just got a 2009 24 inch iMac, running os 10.6.
Is there a way to just sleep the display to sleep in 10.6 without having to change the energy setting in system prefs?
I'm used to a separate display attached to a tower. I work as a photographer and I like to keep my monitor display on when I'm working so it is warmed up, but I want to turn off the display only when I'm not working.
I would like to keep the computer running since other computers on my network need to access it for files and backup, but I would like to just sleep the display.
There is a 3rd party widget named Display Sleep, but it doesn't seem to work with 10.6.
Any suggestions in how to sleep the display easily?

    Hi Gregory
Go to: *System Preferences > Exposé and Spaces* > select the Exposé tab and setup an *Active Screen Corner* to *Put Display to Sleep*.

    Hi,
This is not possible in WD. That is because you cannot trigger anything on the client side in WD.

  • Need example vi using AT commands for dialing the modem at the remote end

Can any one give example vi for dialing up a modem and sending data to remote end

    Hi sindhu6,
Presuming that you are connected to your modem via a serial connection:
I did find a forum related to your enquiry: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/AT-commands-in-labview/td-p/1213335
And I did find an example from ni.com: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2577
Basically, what you need to do is to find out what are the AT commands used for your modem and send the command over using VISA related functions (e.g. VISA Read VI). You can send the command in a sequantial method. You can do this by using the method found in the first link. The best would be that you can create a state machine where by each case/state will consists of commands that you need to run in a sequence (let's say a sequence of AT commands for sending a message via TCP/IP communication).
You can also use a sequence structure but I would not suggest that since you cannot stop the sequence half way and if your command is very long, this may look pretty messy for your code.
    The main question is:
What is the version of your LabVIEW?
What is the modem that you are using and how is your hardware setup is going to be (e.g. how did you communicate with your modem)?
    Thank you
    Warmest regards,

  • Powershell command for adding the package

    Dear All,
Am using SCCM 2007 and Powershell v1.0. First thing I would like to ask is does the version of powershell and sccm are interdependent? Why beacuse, am searching for the cmdlet to add the package to the distribution point. Still I didn't get the command to
add. All the commands that I got are used in sccm2012 and powershell v3.0. When I use any of the commands, am getting "System.String() does not contain this method" as the error. I searched in Powershell prompt to get the list of cmdlets used. I
did not find any relative command to add the package to the dp.
    Please help.

  • When I sleep the display of my MacBook Pro it will turn on again by itself.

Exactly 10 min after I turn it off my display it will turn on with a black screen for about 10 sec. then show the lock screen. It turns back off a little time after.
    Other Info
-I turn off my computer's display with 'hot corners'
-No mouse or external device connected (Somtimes ethernet)
    -Non-retina diplay version
    -Still in warrenty
    -Only chrome is open
    -Done a virus check
Has been happening in 10.8 and 10.9

actally it has helped me very much over the past several years and has removed virses from my compyers/PCs and has increased my performance greatly
It's almost certain that the only malware that it has found was Windows malware, probably attached to e-mail messages. Most Mac users have never encountered actual Mac malware.
As for increasing your performance... that's not really possible. All anti-virus software, even the most well-behaved, will have at least a slight negative impact on your system's performance when it's doing anything. If it's not doing anything, it shouldn't have any effect at all, ideally.
No anti-virus software is capable of improving your machine's performance. Even if you did happen to be infected with one of the rare pieces of Mac malware out there, Mac malware does not typically have any noticeable effect on the system's performance.
For more information on this kind of thing, see my Mac Malware Guide.
Now, as to the problem, I don't have the same knee-jerk tendency to blame anti-virus software as many people on these forums, but the issue you're seeing is likely caused by some kind of third-party software. Anti-virus software usually involves low-level modifications to the system that can cause problems, and it's wise to rule this out by removing your anti-virus software when you run into a strange problem.
If uninstalling ESET doesn't help, look at the list of login items in System Preferences -> Users & Groups. What items are listed there? Also, tell us what the contents of the following folders are:
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/
    /Library/LaunchAgents/
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/
(If you’re not sure how to locate a folder from a path, see Locating files from paths.)

  • Command for calculating the difference between channel points

    Hello guys,
Please tell me if there is a command (or a way) to calculate the diference between channel points, and when there is a diference between points greater then a certain value, to give you where are those points.
I record some CSV data, a force during time and travel, and I want to put on a graph the exact value when I have a decrease of force greater then 0,1N.
Thank you again for your time.

  • Command for exceuting the sql script to a db from linux home

    Hi All,
Can someone please tell me how to execute the /addev/ad/11.5/sql/adcdexcp.sql against case122 from my linux home for our product.
    Thanks in Advance

Do not fully understand your question.. but some basics:
You need an Oracle OCI client driver and Oracle client on the client side. E.g. Oracle Instant Client and Oracle's SQL*Plus.
You need to connect to the database server (using SQL*Plus as the example):
    sqlplus scott/tiger@db-alias
Where db-alias is a TNS alias for the database.
Once connected, you can use SQL*Plus to load the contents of a SQL script, and send a single SQL command (or PL/SQL anonymous block) at a time to the Oracle server for execution. E.g.
    SQL> @/addev/ad/11.5/sql/adcdexcp.sql
I suggest you point your browser to http://tahiti.oracle.com (Oracle Documentation Portal), and look for the SQ*Plus User Guide for the Oracle version you're running.
If you can be more specific and provide proper details as to what you are attempting to achieve, forum members will be a better position to provide assistance and advice.

  • Dl9040 Commands for measure the parameters

    Hello,
I have a problem that I haven't achieved to solve with the DL9040 Oscilloscope from the Yokogaya company.
I want to measure the parameters of the oscilloscope like the frequency, rms, period, etc. But I don't know exactly what commans I have to send. I have found the following commands:
:MEAS:MODE BASIC;    -- Configure the measure.
:MEAS: DISP ON;           -- Display of parameters on.
:MEAS:TRAC1:AREA1:FREQ: STATE ON   -- Enable freq parameter.
    :MEAS:TRAC1:AREA1:FREQ:VAL?  -- Query the value.
However, sending these commands the response of the value is NaN. I don't know if these commands are right, but I have read the guide and I haven't found any other to do the specific measure.  Has someone used this oscilloscope and can tell me where I'm failing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

Yes, I have also tried to use the driver, but unfortunately it doesn't work....The function to read measures from the driver is the following:
I don't know exactly that I have to do and I'm very confused.
    Thank you very much.

  • What is the keyboard command  for opening the disc drive on a G5

fried old keyboard and am using an older one that doesn't have an "open" button. Thanks in advance

Yes, it’s the same for me. In this case I didn’t know about drutil. I don’t want to take this off-topic, but just a quick question to you, chorleyman: I see you’re using a Firebox. Are you satisfied with it? I believe it’s Core Audio compliant. Back then I had to decide to get the Edirol FA-66 or a Presonus Firebox. I’m absolutely happy with mine, but I’m just curious...

  • Thank you for restoring the display of points, but I'm a little confused-

Thank you for having restored our ability to view points.
    One question though…
In the announcement, the following information was provided: "Although the Levels have returned, not all expanded functions associated with those levels have been reinstated (for example, not all Level 3’s have notify capabilities). We are working on enabling all of the expanded functions associated with all Levels."
And therein lies the basis for my confusion. As a Level 3 [now nearly level 4] subscriber who was given Notify capabilities just days prior to the switch to the new Apple Discussions software, I discover that I do not now have such privileges anymore. Does the phrase "…working on enabling all of the expanded functions… mean that I, for example, will soon have Notify capabilities restored, or will I have to wait until I achieve Level 4 to earn this?
I don't mean to sound like the whiny kid in the corner, I just don't clearly understand what will happen in the near future to my privileges and those of others in a similar situation.
And—speaking of privileges—I can no longer find a list of them associated with point levels. Am I just not looking in the right place?

    Michael --
The Hosts are still working on restoring Notify capabilites to Level 3s.
No one know when this will happen. L3's will have them as soon as it's been proven not to overload the system.
Another thing that is "on the list" is the ability to have custom avatars.
Currently, no one (L3,4 or 5) is able to have a custom avatar as part of the discussions preferences.
The boards here are a work in progress when it comes to the new system.
Many new enhancements have been introduced. Other perks that we all enjoyed in the previous system have been worked out in the first 4 months.
Many of the negatives from the old system are no longer here. Many more positive suggestions are being worked on. Patience "is a good thing."

  • How to force the display to sleep, while keeping the computer running?

I'm running some compression and transcoding programs on my iMac G5 (iSight) that keeps the CPU at 100% for hours at a time. My Energy Saver prefernces is set to sleep the display after a few minutes, but never to sleep the computer or the hard disk.
Like I'd expect with such a high CPU load, my computer's screen does not go to sleep.
Is there a program or command line utility that I can run to force my screen to go to sleep, but keep the computer running?
    iMac G5 17" (iSight)   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    To put your display only to sleep;
Go to System Preferences, click on 'energy saver', check the 'Put the display to sleep when the computer is inactive for' box, and then set the time. Note; this just puts the display to sleep, not the whole computer. Your hard disk will keep running. I find this much more convienent than putting the computer in 'full sheep'. It wakes up much quicker without some of the hassle some computers display coming up from full sleep.

  • Is there any way to turn off a PB display without sleeping the computer?

I'm using my PB G4 12" to stream audio content from the web. I just purchased 7 megabit DSL service and I use iTunes to play internet radio pretty much constantly. As a result my PB never goes into deep sleep mode anymore. The HD does seem to spin down and the display goes dim but as long as iTunes is running the display is always, at least partially, illuminated.
Is there any way to sleep the display fully without putting the remainder of the PB into deep sleep which would interrupt my internet radio stream?
    Thanks

Now, If you want to turn off the screen as well, you can just use the energy saver pref pane in system preferances. Here you will see the option of "set display to sleep after X min" And set computer to sleep after X min.
