Command Save does not work

I cannot save my document with the keyboard "Command Save".
File>Save is greyed out also.
The only way to save my changes is to either close the
document and choose save changes before quitting, or to close the
Foxfire preview, an reopen foxfire preview and save changes before
the preview comes up.
This is a real pain. How do I get "save" back?

I too am having a similar problem. For the past 6 months I've been working on the same site, but now starting today I can no longer save. When I go File > Save, the option is there, but nothing happens. When I press Ctrl+S, nothing happens. The only way to save is to close the tab and click "Yes" when it asks me to save or preview in browser and click "Yes" when it asks the same thing. Save As seems to work just fine.
Some help would be really nice if anyone knows what's going on..
P.S. I just got done installing some Windows updates, so I'm kind of suspicious that the cause of the error might be due to one of those updates...
Also, I should mention that I'm using Coldfusion 9.. and Dreamweaver CS4.

Command+S does not work

When I am running any program in Snow Leopard (Word, Safari, Lightroom...etc) and I press command+S to Save it never works. Every other command works to Close, Quit or Save As but just Save does not work. It did not work also in Leopard before I upgraded to Snow Leopard.

you probably have some keyboard shortcut set somewhere that takes over command+s.
check your keyboard system preferences->keyboard shortcuts. if there is nothing there run the following terminal command and log out/in
rm ~/library/preferences/.Global*

Try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try a bookmark.
If that didn't help, check Safari / Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari.
If Extensions aren't the issue, reset Safari. From the menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.

Shift-Command-R does not work anymore

Hello all,
I've noticed that the shortcut shift-command-r does not work anymore on my macbook pro. I used it for the calendar to refresh all calendars, and its also handy to open the reader in safari 5.
When I open the keyboard viewer from the language and text menu I can see it when I press shift, then command but when I press "R" nothing changes, only shift+command stay highlighted. Other letters do work, so its a bit strange.
Anyone know a solution for this?

Nope thats not the problem, the listening key is Esc. It is as if the keyboard does not register it when the R is pressed in combination with the shift and the command together. As I said, the keyboard viewer shows every keystroke except the shift-command-r combi.

Satellite A660-11M on Windows 7 - Toshiba Power Saver does not work

I have a Satellite A660-11M and I work on Windows 7 Ultimate
The problem is that I have download all drivers and updates but the toshiba power saver does not work its installed with no error and TPSLaunch (green icon) does not open when I click on it and no icon I found in the control panel for the program afterIi install all the Value Added Package!

Toshiba Power Saver is only for XP installations, you can't install the XP Drivers (and most Vista Drivers) in Windows 7.
Make sure all your drivers are for the A660, and make sure they are for Windows 7.

Screen Saver does not work

My screen saver only works when no one is logged on. Otherwise, the screen saver never kicks in. I have a Toshiba Satellite M305-S4848.

Im a little bit confused about your posting First you write about Power Saver and then about green icon Which one you mean exactly and whats the problem?
If you mean Eco mode you have to install Eco Utility from official Toshiba website.

I have a MacBook Air using Maverick. I have files in the trash I want to recover. I do not have "Put Back" and Command Delete does not work.

After installing lion, my screen saver does not work

I installed lion, now my screen saver does not work. I have tried all the hot corners, nothing. Dashboard and mission control work fine but cannot start screen saver.

Command "S" Does Not Work To Save Work In Any Application

Hi. For some reason that I haven't figured out yet, holding down the command key with "S" as the keyboard command shortcut does not activate the SAVE menu in Photoshop CS2 or MS Word. It used to work and of course the "S" key and command keys work fine in other keyboard commands except this one. I am using an iBook G4.
Does something have to be activated in preferences somewhere to fix this?
Anyone else have this glitch?

Hi Niel. Sure enough, I went into Speech sys preferences and Com + S was the keyboard shortcut. I changed it to an unrelated one. However when I went into PS CS2, I selected Com S and I got the Save As dialog box popup. I went into the Keyboard Shortcuts menu under Edit and Com + S was listed for Save and Save As was Com Shift S. I went ahead and deleted the Save As keyboard shortcut, but I'm still having trouble getting Com S to just Save. Of course I can do it with the mouse, but I would still like to use the correct key command. Any more ideas what might be going on?

Windows 7 Defrag from command line does not work

We are running Windows 7 in a virtualized environment. When running windows defrag using schedule or from command line, it does not work. The command that I am executing as administrator is
C:\Windows\system32>defrag /c

It displays the above message and exits back to the command prompt. However if I run the command defrag C: it does work. Defragmenting from the GUI works as well as long as both the disks (C: and System Reserved) are selected and when I click on
Defragment disks, works fine.
I am concerned about defrag running from the task scheduler with the command "defrag /c" (auto scheduled using Configure Schedule... from Disk Defragmenter) does not work and the system never gets defragmented automatically.
This happens only with some of the windows 7 VM's that we have.
There are no entries in Event Log that point to the defrag (using task scheduler). Any ideas what may be going on?

Could you defrag as below method:
1. Open Disk Defragmenter by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type
Disk Defragmenter, and then, in the list of results, click
Disk Defragmenter.
2.Under Current status, select the disk you want to defragment.
3.To determine if the disk needs to be defragmented or not, click Analyze disk. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Once Windows is finished analyzing the disk, you can check the percentage of fragmentation on the disk in the
Last Run column. If the number is above 10%, you should defragment the disk.
4.Click Defragment disk. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Quick save does not work

On my Pavilion dv7-4270us laptop the quick save, f5 key, feature does not work on any game I load. The options are grayed out and says unmappable or just don't work. The quick save does work for the same games on my Toshiba laptop running vista. The HP is running 7. Needles to say this is rather annoying. Any ideas as to why this is?

I didn't try that. But the problem is when I load any game the quick save function in the control set up menu of the game always states the quick save and quick load options for the game are not mappable. Most times it is the f5 and f9 key that is set to those functions but not always. As I stated before these functions work on my Toshiba Laptop but not on the HP. HP running 7 Toshiba runnig vista. The HP is less then one month old. Thanks for the help with this. I hope you can figure this. I have no idea.

Command-I does not work!

I am running Mac OS 10.6.4. I bought this iMac brand new with 10.5 last year, installed Snow Leopard with the drop-in install DVD, and it has always had this strange quirk. Anytime I try to use the Command-I shortcut for "Get Info," it won't work. It doesn't work in Finder, iTunes, Safari...any application! My Command key is not broken, because all of the other shortcuts seem to work just fine (e.g. Command-S, Command-Q, etc.). The only one that doesn't work is Command-I.
I've scoured the internet but cannot find anyone with the same problem. Anyone know what's going on or how to fix it?

No. Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.
