Command-shift-4 is not working!

Command-shift-4 is not working for me!
I know that the deafult shortcut for taking screenshots is command-shift-3, but i want to take portion of the screen and that is command-shift-4.
I have tried everything wich is;
1: Log out and restart then login, not working.
2: Repair the permissions, not working.
3: Unchecked the box for shortcut and checkd it again in System preferences > Keybord > Shortcuts, not working.
4: Created a new Admin-account, not working.
5: Resetet PRAM, not working.
6: Reinstalled the whole system, not working.
I will say that this problem only appears in OS X Lion but not in Snow Leopard.
If there is anyone who can help me fix this problem i would be really thankfull.

Any idea why command-shift-delete is not working?

I have had a MacBook Pro for a few years, and recently purchased a new iMac. the iMac arrived, and I transferred everything from the MBP to the iMac using the Migration Assistant. Worked very well, from what I can tell. The only thing I am unable to do is delete using shift-delete and empty the trash using command-shift-delete.
I should also say that I did the initial setup of my iMac with a separate Admin account, then deleted that account to use the old account from my MBP on the iMac. I suspect this is a permissions issue, and I have seen articles that suggest deleting this trash account and letting OS X recreate.
Any thoughts on what else to try?

baltwo - I acknowledge that I wrote this incorrectly as shift-delete. That said, I am unable to delete a file/folder using command-delete. Also, unable to empty the trash using command-shift-delete.
I had already tried resetting my keyboard shortcuts, and this did not help either.
And these shortcuts worked on my MBP prior to the migration.

The Full Screen icon does not appear in Firefox 16.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8, and command+shift+F does not close the full screen view.

I accidentally entered full screen view and was unable to exit. The Firefox Help article at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-make-firefox-and-websites-go-full-screen?esab=a&s=full+screen+mac&r=0&as=s says I should see a Full Screen View icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Firefox window. That icon not there. I cannot find it. It does not appear in either the full screen or non-full screen views.
Further, the Help article's advice to exit full screen view by using the keyboard sequence command+shift+F does not work. I had to unplug my iMac and reboot. Firefox then opened in non-full screen view.
Ideally, hitting the Escape key would cause Firefox to exit full screen view.

I forgot one detail. This happened while I was having trouble seeing the mouse cursor (I use Apple's Magic Mouse). It had disappeared briefly. I had to drag the cursor out of the Firefox Window for it to reappear. I accidentally entered full screen view while the cursor was not visible.

Command-Left/Right Arrow not working

Very strange behavior I'm seeing today.
My left/right arrow keys work. Even Option-Left/Right works correctly.
But, Command-Left-Right do not work. No movement at all.
Curiously, Shift-Command-Left/Right work fine.
I've not changed any keyboard shortcuts recently. I've checked the keyboard shortcuts that are currently defined. Nothing that would indicate a problem, but clearly there is.

Just found a solution that worked for me here. Basically, it seems to be a bug with the Dock. If you type "killall Dock" (the command is case-sensitive) into the command line in Terminal, it restarts the Dock. After that the arrows seem to work normally again.

You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Do not let iTunes scan for new content, but do enable iTunes Match on the empty library. Once the scan is finished you may delete tracks from the cloud. When you are done switch back to the main iTunes library.

See the above post for more information - here's a synopsis:
CTRL+SHIFT modifiers are not working while running LabVIEW in a Parallels 7 virtual machine. This problem affects both LV2011 and LV2012. I'm not certain that this is a LabVIEW bug - could be an issue with my virtual machine environment or it's configuration - except that CTRL+SHIFT modifiers work in other applications on the affected VMs. It's just LabVIEW that appears to ignore shortcuts with the CTRL+SHIFT modifiers.
Any ideas?

Although possibly not related to your problem, I have to remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. On top of this, it has known unpatched bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum security, stability, performance and usability. As for your issue, I'm not sure if this is the case, but there is a little know keyboard shortcut to change the keyboard language on Windows. And it's very annoying, since it's easily triggered. I don't know exactly which one it is, but I think it's CTRL+SHIFT, the ones on the right. I suggest you ask Microsoft for support on this one. Firefox doesn't control keyboard languages.

My shift-r, right shift-f, and right shift-v is not working.

I've seen questions in the forum about shift-r not working, I've looked into my system preferences and it appears there are no short cuts associated with shift-r. My right shift-f and right shift-v are not working either. I'm using a new iMac (10.7.2) with the bluetooth keyboard that came with it. If I use caps lock I can get capital R, F and V. It's very strange. I'm assuming it's a setting that's messed up versus a bum keyboard? Thanks for any help you can give!

Good deal, glad it's taken care of. I had a wireless keyboard on which the caps lock key stayed lit all the time, even though it did turn the lock on and off. And sometimes it wouldn't light at all. I took it (just the keyboard) to a local AASP and they checked it out and called to say my new keyboard was ready to be picked up.

Shift factor is not working with Depreciation Base method- 0004

When I am changing shift factor and variable depreciation portion in asset master data. Its not calculating depreciation as per shift factor.
What can be the reason behind it.
Even I have already maintained config in depreciation key also for multiple shift.

Hi,
Shift factor works only with the variable portion of ordinary depreciation. The variable factor is defined as depreciation area level.
"When you use depreciation with a multiple shift factor, the system
multiplies the variable depreciation portion by the multiple shift factor"
In depreciation area tab of asset master data double click on the depreciation area. You can check the variable portion can be see under "Additional Specifications" tab. If the value is 0 then the shift factor will not work.

Command F [find] function not working in Word 2011

It seems that my Command F function is not working properly...when I look for a term that I KNOW is in my document, sometimes it won't locate it. Sometimes it will only locate one instance of the word [in the sidebar] when the word actually appears multiple times in the document. And, if the word appears in my footnotes, the command F function will then only highlight the instances in which that word appears in the footnotes, but not in the main text [again, in the sidebar]. I've also noticed that the spotlight function does this as well [ie, I will use spotlight to search for word documents containing a certain term, and although I KNOW the term is in a certain document, spotlight will not identify that document as containing my search term].
These documents are a mix of ones that I created using Word 2011 and previous versions - the problem happens consistenly across all word files. And I'm not specifying any particular case for the terms (ie, I'm not searching for "Coffee" with a capital "C" and not getting any results because only "coffee" appears in my document).
I'm running Word 2011 on Lion OS. Please help - this is driving me insane.....

When Firefox is open the zoom function (option/command/space bar) does not work in Adobe programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). This happens only when Firefox is open and when I close it the zoom functions work fine again without having to restart the applications.
This is intermittent but happens quite frequently each day if Firefox is active.

I get a usable window, but zoom doesn't work as you noted.
How about using an intermediate page and window.open() for the target page? You can (mostly) restrict the chrome of windows opened that way, but it will leave behind the intermediate window...

Open the Speech pane of System Preferences and check whether either the listening key or the speech key has become set to that keystroke; if so, change the setting.

USB keyboard shift keys suddenly not working

For some reason, when I woke up my MacBook Pro this morning, both shift keys on my aluminium USB keyboard were not working. I'm using the keyboard with a Magic Mouse and LED cinema display connected to my MacBook. When I hold either shift key in combination with any other key, either nothing is typed, or there will be random characters typed, occasionally.
I ran AppleJack on auto to see if there were any problems. There were a few preferences it corrected, but nothing major was wrong. I connected the keyboard to a friend's MacBook Pro, and the shift keys did not work on his machine either. Caps Lock does work. I've tried canned air. I don't remember spilling anything on it.
Any idea about what I can try to get it working, or is it broken? Thanks,

"Bocked"? Is that a word?
The key combination you mention is for resetting parameter RAM or PRAM. Nothing really to do with passwords.
At what stage is it asking for a password?

I have been trying to authorize my new Macbook Pro 2011 for weeks. (I set up and authorized my iPhone with no problem.) Whenever I try to authorize my computer using the Digital Editions instructions given at the bottom of this post, I get the message:
Activation Server error - code E_AUTH_NOT_READY
Digital Editions encounter an error on the activation server.
I've read all the forums and tried everything. To deal with this problem, the answers in the forums say to deauthorize my computer and the reauthorize it but, no matter what I do, I cannot get it to deauthorize. i have tried opening ADE and hitting Command+Shift+D--using command because I have a mac--(tried this in library view and in reader view) but nothing happens. This is different from so many others who have solved this problem using Command+Shift+D. When I hit Command+Shift+D, nothing happens at all. I get no screen so I cannot hit Erase Authorization. I don't know how to get rid of the authorization that must exist somewhere but I don't know where. Only after I get rid of it, will I be able to reautorize my computer so I can read ebooks from the library, etc.
I also tried uninstalling ADE 2.0 and then reinstalling it. I did not get the set-up wizard to help me authorize my computer. So I went to the Help menu and chose "Authorize Computer" and got a window titled "Authorize Your Computer." The eBook Vendor was already shown as Adobe ID. All I had to do was enter my Adobe ID and Password. I did this (which worked successfully on my iPhone) and got the same error screen message noted above:

I decided to try step 5 in the instructions below so I navigated to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions. There was a document named "activation.dat" and a file named "Voucher." I dragged the activation.dat file to the trash.
I returned to the Help menu and chose "Authorize Computer" and got a window titled "Authorize Your Computer." The eBook Vendor was already shown as Adobe ID. All I had to do was enter my Adobe ID and Password. I did this and THIS TIME I WAS SUCCESSFUL. I got the following message screen:

Your Computer Has Been Authorized
This computer has been successfully authorized to [email protected] with a Vendor ID.
You are now ready to read Adobe DRM protected items on this machine, and easily transfer them between devices.

Issue
When you activate Adobe Digital Editions 2.0, you receive the error, "E_AUTH_NOT_READY."
Solution
This error occurs when the authorization information is damaged. Follow the below steps to rebuild the Activation file.
Mac OS
1. Open Adobe Digital Editions.
2. Press Command+Shift+D to deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
3. Select Erase Authorization.
4. Click OK and Quit Adobe Digital Editions.
5. Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion.
7. Open Adobe Digital Editions and reauthorize.

I have just encountered the same problem and all the same frustrations as karliekate, except that I haven't got a new eReader. I just use my PC, so I don't know what might have caused this. The Adobe Help (!!) pages say to contact the eBook provide (the library) whose site says contact Adobe, although it should be well known by now that software producers like Adobe, Apple, Microsoft and many others are completely indifferent to their customers' problems.
