Command + ~ Stopped Working in 5.1.2

Updated Safari to 5.1.2 last week since the display of pdf's issues was fixed. But now there is another problem. Command + ~ has stopped cycling through all Safari windows. I have 4 windows open and it only cycles through 3 of them. I can make the one it skipped the active window and then it will cycle through that one but will leave another out. Anybody else having this issue or know a fix for this?

Try Shift + Command + ~
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, launch Safari. Try cycling between windows.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

FM 8p273 control commands stop working

Hello,
Recently upgraded to 8p273 due to known bug with indexing; this solved that problem.
However--I find that from time to time (increasingly frequently, it seems) control commands (cntl-c, cntl-v, cntl-m, etc.) stop working, in an erratic fashion. I.e. one will stop working properly (seemingly cntl-c to copy things), but cntl-v still works, then after a while cntl-v will paste, but in the main frame not in the marker dialogue box, etc. (difficult to describe all this accurately).
Eventually, I close FM and restart it, and I'm good for a few minutes.
I've tried downloading p277 (in case it fixes this) but only 7Mb of 32 download, and when I try to run it, as far as I can see, nothing happens. So not getting anywhere there.
I'm running this on Win XP SP3 under Parallels 8.0.18494, but I don't know that that's the problem; cntl-c and cntl-v still work in other applications.
Any ideas?
I'm near the end of a project (well, if I can get the work done!) so it doesn't make sense to upgrade to a new version just now....

Thanks very much for these suggestions. I doubt either malware or Parallels are to blame, though, because....
a. It's an institutional computer, with daily updated virus files, and I don't download anything EVER through Windows (except software updates). No guarantee, of course, but I doubt that this would be the cause.
b. When the problem surfaces (which is some time after entering FM), it is *local* to FM. I've never had the problem in MS Access, the only other product I use frequently on Windows, and when it happens, I've loaded Word and other things, and the problem is not duplicated there.
c. The problem is discussed on Parallels forums (for an older version, however), but in those cases, it is global to all apps....

Drop down commands stopped working.

My drop down commands suddenly stopped working in the middle of working on a document. I was changing fonts of certain parts of the document by selecting the text and using the right click command. I noticed I could still change it using the tools at the top of the page. Nothing in my right click command works and neither does anything in the drop down tabs at the top like file, edit, layout etc. For example I can't save or print without using the keyboard shortcuts. It allows me to select the action but doesn't do anything. I don't believe I would have accidently hit anything since what I was doing is a pretty simple task. Any suggestions?

[SOLVED]Commands stopped working

Hi guys,
Some commands like reboot, export and daemon launchers stopped working on my system.
I can't sudo them and the usual "su" doesn't work neither. The only way to make them work is by doing "su -".
Any ideas on what's wrong?

Why does ctrl + "button" stops working?

Hello peeps,
I'm having some trouble using ctrl + "any button" in illustrator CS6 (v. 16.0.2 64-bit) with windows 7. I'm not sure how or why it stops working but I usually go on with my normal job and all of a sudden ctrl-commands stops working. (I will try to look into exactly when it happens and get back to here) I can't use ctrl+c, ctrl+v or even ctrl+n for a new document. Alt-commands such as alt+drag and drop with left mouse button to copy still works. I try to reboot illustrator but it's the same thing, ctrl-button doesn't work. I
All ctrl-commands (and just the ctrl-button in general) works well in windows and in my browser (firefox).
Things I've tried but with no success...
- Re-plugging my keyboard
- Looked over settings for short commands (they're set to standard)
- Reboot illustrator
- Killed illustrator.exe through "ctrl+alt+del"
Things I've tried with success...
- Restarting the computer makes ctrl-button work again
However, if I open a saved document (pdf or ai) ctrl-commands all of a sudden works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! /Fredrik

AppleShowAllFiles command not working on multiple Macs running 10.6.6

I needed to restore a Time Machine cookie from a Mac and no matter what I could not display hidden files in finder (Therefore making cookie restoration a severe pain). The commands seem to no longer function properly in 10.6.6. I even tried the older version of the command with "-bool", but to no avail. I've tried on 3 different Macs running 10.6.6 and another running 10.6.6 server and am getting the same results (no change in hidden files after restarting finder). 10.5.8 and 10.6.3 has no problems toggling the hidden files though....
2 of the Macs had the hidden files already hidden and the third has had hidden files visible since at least 10.6.3 and none of them will change the hidden files from the state they are currently in.
Here is the command I've been using with out issues until now:
# sudo defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
# sudo killall Finder
and then here are the other commands I also tried:
# sudo defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
# sudo killall Finder
# sudo defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool TRUE
# sudo killall Finder
I tried running the commands and then restarting with no luck and tried restarting and then running the commands also with no luck. Terminal processes the command the same as it always has, no success or error message.
I ended up using the "Secrets" pref. pane to be able to get into the hidden files so I could restore the Time Machine cookie but I can't figure out why the terminal command stopped working for me. Is it because of 10.6.6 or am I taking crazy pills? If anyone can duplicate this issue or has seen it before I would be very appreciative as "The Google" does not seem to have the answers I seek.

Wow Baltwo that was a fast correction on that applescript syntax, thanks! The applescript worked, but that made me even more frustrated as the applescript is using the same command just with a boolean instead.
AND THEN, I noticed your comment about sudo not always being necessary. I've never had any ill effects from using too much sudo on linux boxes (excluding security and permissions issues that could arise) and was like "pffff.... sudo never hurt nobody" but that is not the case on mac and/or unix I guess. I dropped the sudo and everything works perfectly.
So for forum searchers: If "sudo defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes" doesn't work after restarting finder, drop "SUDO" and it will work.
So thanks again baltwo, and don't worry about the TimeMachine cookies - that part I had no problems with - it's just restoring the local cookie to the network volume so TM can continue using the sparsebundle already there. I just couldn't get to the local cookie because it's hidden!
As punishment for this problem being so easy to fix I will go let the users assault me with Blackberries and Vista laptops for one hour. Sigh...

Galaxy Note 2 Quick Commands Not Working

I've had the Note a couple days now, but for the first time tried quick command. Low and behold, it's not working. I can write, but eventually it just closes before even recognizing the command. I've had no success with any of the stock commands.
I have tried clearing quick commands data in Application Settings as well as creating a new command. Even when I try creating a command it will not let me even select "Done."
I also tried a factory reset this afternoon. Same problem. I've watched several YouTube's so it's not a user error on how to do it. Any help?
All other S Pen functions work. Anything else I should try? Should I call Verizon CS?

UPDATE:
Wednesday: I stopped in a local Verizon kiosk at my mall and tried the quick commands on another Note. Worked perfectly. They said I'd have to call Customer Service to get a replacement. (Note: The employee didn't even know about the feature!) So I called Verizon (*611) and spoke with a "head tech" (whatever that means). He had no idea what was going on esp. given the factory reset I tried. He said the only option was to get a new device or try a different Gmail account (which I really don't want to move my stuff to a new one). Because the Note is an "iconic" device, they wouldn't ship me one unless I prepaid for it (then would be reimbursed when they received my "defective" phone. So I planned to pick up a new one on Thursday.
Thursday: I picked up a new one. After logging into my Gmail account during activation, I tried QC again...still no go. The employee there again had no idea about the feature, but suggested maybe I ought to try a different Gmail account. I said I would later (I had another appointment). So later, I skipped adding my Gmail account (after doing a factory reset) and BAM...Quick Commands worked! But what about my Gmail account....I added it after activation, and BAM-quick commands doesn't work again. THUS THE PROBLEM LIES WITH MY GMAIL ACCOUNT.
Well it's gotten murkier folks...I did yet another factory reset. This time, I tried a different gmail account that has 2 step authentication as well. Guess what? Quick commands worked. So I tried adding my regular gmail (the one giving me fits)-and lo and behold, quick commands stopped working. What would cause this specific gmail account to make quick commands stop working? I've chatted with Samsung (online) and they have no idea. They want me to call voice support. I may tomorrow morning. THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! Also Sammy tried to say that email is not required for quick commands to work (duh). But I've eliminated options and it certainly is a specific email account causing problems. There's another gentlemen on XDA with the same issue as well.

"ls", "sed", "awk", etc stopped working. Help!

It sounds like you've got some old PowerPC Fink software. All of those tools are available in MacOS X, so I don't know why you would want some older PowerPC versions of the same tools.

ACS Shell Cmds stopped working

I have a group in ACS that has limited level 15 access to NDGs. Under Unmatch Commands I have "configure", with "permit terminal" under unmatched arugs. This has been working fine for months.
A week ago,this command stopped working. I've tried removing and re adding the command but no luck.
Any ideas??
This is ACS 3.3(4) on Windows platform.

What do does the fail attempts log say? You may also want to run "debug aaa author" and "debug tacacs author" and see what is sent and returned from ACS.

CTRL+H and CTRL+B have stopped working for Firefox. Every other CTRL command works. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Whenever I want to open my history (CTRL+H) or my bookmarks (CTRL+B), I use those commands. They've always worked. Yesterday, they mysteriously stopped working. Every other CTRL+KEY command still works flawlessly.
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary in the past few days, and I've already tried to restart my computer. What could be the cause of this?

Command W has stopped working

I've never seen this behaviour before:
The command W "close" shortcut has stopped working. The keyboard is fine, w is fine, command is fine, and e.g. command-option w works, but command w does a "paste". I've reset the keyboard shortcuts to defaults, all to no avail. I have no idea what I did to cause this, but I would appreciate any hint of how to undo it!

Command ~ (tilde) to switch windows stops working

Well, actually I guess it is command-` since you don't press shift.
My problem is this command key short cut stopped working. Mac OS 10.4.11 onAlu iMac with 4gb ram. It had been working, but now I noticed it stopped working.
It never worked on my G4 tower but did work on my wifes iBook. It didn't work in my buddies tower but does work on my dads iMac G5.
What the heck? How does a command key shortcut stop working. I get a audible bonk alert when I try to do command-` to switch windows. It used to work.
Any ideas?

Have you checked your keybindings? +(System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts)+ Is there a checkmark next to "Move focus to next window in active application"? Maybe your modifier keys have been altered? +(System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard > Modifier Keys...)+

Hi, my command c shortcut has stopped working on my macbook pro. Each letter still works individually however the shortcut no longer does. Could you please tell me how to fix this?
