Command-tab during Keynote shows on wrong screen

Hi,
Since I upgraded Keynote I now see the icons of the programs I have open during a command-tab keystroke on the wrong screen. My audience sees everything I have open and I am lost on my screen.
It does not always occur. When I hook up my MacBook to a large screen beamer yes. Not when I connect to just another monitor on my desk. There is some little option somewhere I guess... But what has changed where?

Alternatively, hit the letter 'x' when in slideshow mode to eXchange the two different views between the two screens...
The switch should be instantaneous.
Jai
ps hit the '/' to get other keyboard commands on screen.

  • Command, Tab option not showing all open applications

    Hi,
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion and now when using the combination of Command+TAB not all open applications are displayed.
This seems like a bug or am I missing something

I want to add to list as having same issue... Even core Apple programs not showing up (Safari, iPhoto) in Command Tab. But Mail, iCal do show up in Command + Tab.  Also noticed that only some applications "minimize window into the application icon", while others get minimized to bottom right of Dock.  Additionally no "Show indicator lights for open application" appears for those missing programs.  I attempted to select-unselect both of those in the Preferences -> Dock options and restart a few times, with no success.
The same programs missing from Command + Tab are also missing a graphic icon in Dashboard view (only Application Name appears).
Issue is new to OS X Mountion Lion, I did not have that problem before.

  • Command-tab does not show minimized window

Hello, use command-tab to cycle through all the open apps, and I stop on one that I want to display. However, if that app is minimized, nothing happens. Not too convenient. Is there a way to automatically show the minimized window when I select it w/ command-tab? (this is how windows works and I prefer it this way)
    thanks

Greetings from a System Leopard user.
I've not yet upgraded to System Snow Leopard, but I'm running across unbelievable messages and applications that are required to allow CMD+Tab to work right under System Snow Leoperd. Is this a big joke or what?
There are at least 5 $hareware/commercial (but not public domain) apps that are required to restore the use of CMD+Tab for System Snow Leopard users.
Using System Leopard, CMD+Tab works perfectly. But reading various messages threads it looks like Apple programmers have disallowed CMD+Tab to work properly in System Snow Leopard. Why?
    Any Apple Employee, anywhere:
If this is all true, that CMD+Tab has turned into a convoluted mess, then why have Apple engineers disallowed normal use of CMD+Tab?
If this is true about CMD+Tab, is it because Microsoft Vista programmers sneaked onto the property and diddled with the System Snow Leopard source code?
Apple employee, the most acceptable reason for not upgrading to System Snow Leopard is software application compatibility, but if global functions are intentionally convoluted in System Snow Leopard, please explain the Apple decision process vis a vis CMD+Tab, and the reasons this condition has been allowed to fester.
    Thanks much!

  • Command-tab does not show open apps after sleep.

In Mountain Lion, after the system goes to sleep, it no longer shows applications when I command-tab.  So it doesn't show the open apps.  Only Finder.  Also, it no longer shows the white dot beneath apps on the dock. I have to restart the computer.  Then it shows the open apps again, but the whole problem starts once the computer goes to sleep.  This problem has been occuring since the new install of Mountain Lion.  Any ideas?

My only solution is to never let the computer sleep, only the display.

  • I downloaded a TV show to wrong screen name!

I purchased a TV show (a whole season of one) and accidentally did it on another screen name on the computer. Can I transfer it to my screen name and still keep all the CD's and other things I have put in my library?

    Select the files in iTunes.
Drag them (directly from iTunes) to a Shared directory.
Switch users, open iTunes, then File -> *Add File to library* and select the files in the Shared directory.

  • Command/Tab no longer showing active application list since 10.6.8 update.

Any ideas where this has gone?

updating.. It looks as though as soon as I open an app, the icon disappears.
I looked in console, (whose icon disappeared) and these messages showed

  • Can we use Spaces during Keynote presentation?

Every time when I am giving presentations using the Keynote, I think I really need the Spaces function because I sometimes want to show actual applications for demo. But it seems the presentation screen is locked and I can't use the function, so I must get out of the presentation. Obviously it doesn't look neat. Does anyone know how to? Maybe there is some third party utility for that...

There is no way to remove the Finder (or any running app) from the list. However, If you Command-Tab from App 1 to App 2, then when you press Command-Tab a second time App 1 will then be selected in the list. Also, if you quickly press and release Command-Tab, it will bring forward the next selected item, without having to navigate the list. Putting these two facts together, if you set up your presentation so that you Command-Tab to the second app, then Command-Tab to Keynote, you can then toggle back and forth between these two apps with a single quick Command-Tab press, with no risk of invoking the Finder.

  • Open applications not appearing in dock or command-tab.

I am using 10.9.5 on a Macbook Air and I've noticed recently that open applications don't display icons in the dock.  Command-Tab also doesn't show the icons of all open applications either.  This seems to be recently occurring.  It's quite frustrating switching between applications when command-tab doesn't show the open application icons nor are the icons of open apps displayed in the dock.  Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thank You

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following:
         killall Dock
Press RETURN. See if that helps.

  • How to make a backup of your stuff? and Command+tab question

First of all, is there an alternative to using a different Command+tab button? OR the F3 button to switch between windows? A lot of times I have more than ONE safari window open and I want to Command tab but Command+tab won't show the OTHER safari sites open. I use the F3 button also but is there another way to ALT+tab to DIFFERENT safari/firefox windows like on the Windows OS?
I was just wondering if IN TIME, Mac's will start running slower (like PC's) as you put more programs in. I know from experience, even by just staying on trusted sites, in about 2+ years your windows vista/7 will be a little slower. How do I reformat a Mac (factory reset) and besides backing everything up on a DVD, is there a way to backup my files?
Sorry for these nub questions, I only had this for like a month xD

    Welcome to the Mac world!
Mac OS let's you fully customize the keystrokes which you can quickly move between the windows you want. You will find these settings under System Preferences and Expose & Spaces under the personal area.
When you are in here, you can assign a different keys, or secondary key, to active the show all windows (what you are currently using as F3). Under the All Windows selection, you will see the default set to F3. Here you can change it if you would like, say assigning the right or left shift key to open the show all windows feature. In the box to the right which should be empty, you can even assign extra mouse keys (assuming you use an external mouse) to do the exact same thing, which I find makes your work-flow much easier. Play around with the mouse settings to get what you like (I use my mouse to show all windows when I press the scroll wheel). Hopefully this will be a sufficient solution to your needs. Have a look here for more keyboard shortcuts: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343
Regarding your second question, you will find that Mac's do not fall failure to the typical 'OS rot' that you see when using Windows in just a short year or two. The same goes for keeping your computer on for long periods. Where Windows will be noticeably sluggish after even a day or two of continuous use, Mac's can have an uptime of weeks without a drop in performance (a buddy of mine usually only restarts once a month unless the power flashes). You will likely only need to re-install the OS if something happens to the computer and it no longer functions properly. In this case, I recommend using Apple's build in Time Machine application (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427) however you will require an external hard drive. Time Machine takes a backup of your computer whenever you ask it and if you have to re-install the OS, it will restore everything to it's previous state.
    Hope this helps!

It looks like an unstyled background in your frameset. You'd
    be better

  • I am doing a presentation in Keynote and can't get my presenter notes on my Mac only and not have them show on the screen.

I am doing a presentation in Keynote and can't get my presenter notes to show only on my Mac.  They are showing on the screen as well as my Mac.  I tried to change it under "View" but they are either totally off or totally on.  What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you have display set to "Mirror"
Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays > Display tab > deselect mirror displays

  • HT2474 how to operate the dock - when i pull up the dock Command Tab, the dock appears centre screen but  can select an item to open

    Hi
I am trying to use the dock like i have seen on other screens, by pressing command and tab - i can pull up the dock so it appears and cycles through, but when i try and select an item it just disappears, i am holding hte command button when selecting it or it just disappears. any helps appreciated.
    thanks

That's not the Dock.. the Dock is the thing at the bottom of the screen that shows apps and a trash can.
Regarding command-tab, the window that brings up should show all running apps. As long as you hold down command, it will stay open. Selecting an item in that window should cause that app to come to the front. However, if the app in question does not have any open windows, there may not be much change on the screen, so you could miss it. Keep an eye on the menu next to the Apple menu, which has the name of the current app. Does that menu change to whatever app you selected using command-tab?

  • Screen sharing and "command tab"

    Hi,
is there a way to "command tab" within a Screen sharing screen.
When I use "command tab", it's doing this on the host, and not on the remote machine...
Or is there another way to jump from application to application?
    Cheers,
    Roger

  • I don't know what's wrong with my 3GS. It only shows the black screen with white apple. Turning it on then off doesn't help.

I don't know what's wrong with my 3GS. It only shows the black screen with white apple. Home button and turning the phone off then on doesn't seem to do anything.

    Thanks Lucas,
I've tried doing that with no results. Same screen keeps showing. Maybe it'd be more helpful if I told you a bit more info.  My phone was randomly playing music, and the voice control would also suddenly start without me touching the phone.  Then I let the battery die and started to recharge when on the screen it indicated to plug into my computer/iTunes, I tried to restore but was getting an error message (can't remember what it said now). Battery died and now my current issue of the black screen with white apple.  I'd love to be able to restore my phone but now its not showing as a device on my iTunes. HELP! Any other suggestions?

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!
