Command tnsping not found

Hi,
I have installed three packages to use oracle client (basic, sqlplus & sdk additionnal) on a Ubuntu Server 10.04.3.
I used the software Alien on Ubuntu to convert .RPM to .DEB.
And i can't find the command TNSPING in /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/bin.
I have to install another package ?
For information, sqlplus works on my computer without problem.
Thanks for your help.

  • Cmd command "Tasklist" not found.

I'm running Windows 8.1 and I've been having issues playing League of Legends, so I sent a support ticket to Riot Games, and they told me a list of information that I needed to retrieve to help them identify the problem. One of the steps they asked me
to complete was send them a process list through the cmd command tasklist /v > "%USERPROFILE%\desktop\Process.txt"
I pasted the command to the cmd and it came up with an error message reading "Error: Not Found" I ran the cmd in admin mode after this to see if that would work but to no avail. Is there a way to fix this error, or is there another way to
compile a process list? Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why this is not working.
As a work around, You can grab the list of processes using process explorer.

  • Following Beginner's Guide, but one command is "not found" - alsact1

    Hello
I'm following the Beginner's guide and doing everything exactly as it says. However, when i get to the Sound Card setup instructions (using ALSA) one of the commands it is telling me to use returns the error "-bash: alsact1: command not found"
I have done everything exactly as per the directions. According to the instructions, this command saves the mixer settings so that on boot-up, the volume levels are as they were previously.
I wasn't able to create the file that "alsact1" is supposed to create, but upon boot-up, the sound levels appear to be as they were last time. so everything works just fine.
Should I just forget about the "alsact1" command and move on? Anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix? or is it a typo in the instructions?
    Thanks in advance!

The last letter is an L, not a 1
    ie ALSACTL rather than ALSACT1

  • Command not found error

I'm trying to run this command in my terminal:
    sudo ./cloudera-manager-installer.bin
however, it is saying that such a command is not found... I've tried also inputting the actual path to the object as such:
    sudo ./cloudera-manager-installer.bin
and have gotten the same error messsage. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

The second command is the same as the first. It will work only if there is an executable named "cloudera-manager-installer.bin" in the current directory. If there isn't, change to the directory or use the full path.

  • VM Tools install fails: "command not found"

    Hi guys,
I'm running a Linux Mint guest on Win7 x32 using VMWare Player 6.0.5. It's basically going well, but I'm unable to install Tools. I open a terminal in the directory of the extracted files, then run the command under SUDO, but the command is not found. I'm attaching a shot of the command line and the target directory.
I re-extracted the Tools package, which is why the folder has " (2) appended to it, but that made no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

You can add the line "set -x" at the beginning of your script to see at which line it fails? I suspect the . ./env line.

  • WINE Command not Found

I installed WINE 0.9.45 from source without any errors.  I can go to /usr/local/bin via Konqueror and execute the shell scripts that are there and everything works perfectly.  I can even run Windows applications through winefile.
However, when I try to do anything with WINE through the console, it says the "wine" command does not exist.  If I type "man wine" it once again can not find it.  The WINE install worked perfectly, and I can run WINE by going to its directory with Konqueror, so any ideas why the wine command is not found?

Protip: if you want to compile wine yourself run configure with --prefix=/home/you/(utilities/)wine45, because it produces a LOT of programs/scripts. This way you also don't need root.
And add $HOME/wine45/bin to your $PATH.
When the next version comes out you can install it to a new directory and delete the old one without having to worry about general package management issues.

The "~/.xmonad/bin" part in the $PATH is wrong. It should have been expanded to /home/$USER/.xmonad/bin; probably because you quoted the tilda in your .zshrc.

  • HT4103 my sudo command is not working

Hello, when i type sudo it show bellow message
    Arifur-Rahmans-MacBook-Pro:~ arif$ sudo
    -bash: sudo: command not found
    when i type ls
    Arifur-Rahmans-MacBook-Pro:~ arif$ ls
    -bash: ls: command not found
Please help me i am not able to work anythings.

    When I said type
    echo $PATH
I did mean PATH in ALL CAPITALS.  When working on the Unix side of Mac OS X, as weill all Unix systems upper and lower case do matter.
But from the error message, I can see that somewhere along the way, mongodb (a database package), and the modification of PATH was done incorrectly.
If you installed MongoDB, AND if the instructions had to modify your .profile (or perhaps .bash_profile), then either their instructions were wrong, or you missed a step, which explains why you can not enter commands are not found
PATH is a Unix environment variable that contains a colon separate list of directories where the shell will look for commands when you enter them at the command prompt.
So your choices are delete the offending .profile (or perhaps .bash_profile) and forget about MongoDB, or if you do need MongoDB, then fix your .profile (or .bash_profile) so it has a properly formed PATH environment variable.
    Fixing this would look like
/bin/ls -a         # this will show you all the files starting with a period (dot) as in .profile or .bash_profile
    /usr/bin/nano .profile
now in this text editor use the arrow keys, and the delete key to find and delete offending text, then type in the corrected text.  Nano gives you a menu at the botton of the editor with additional commands.  ^O (Control-O) writes out any changes you made.  ^X (Control-X) exits from Nano.
You want your PATH variable to look like (REMEMBER UPPER/lowercase is IMPORTANT)  ALSO spaces or nospaces are important.
    export PATH="/usr/local/mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.8.2:$PATH"
NOTICE there is a colon between the MongoDB directory path, and the $PATH.  The $PATH will append your existing PATH to the end of the new PATH environment variable you are setting up.  The entire PATH string is enclosed in double quotes.  ALSO NOTICE, there is only 1 space between export and PATH.  No spaces anywhere else in the line.
Again, I used .profile as the most likely file name, HOWEVER, your shell will look for 1 of 3 different initialization files starting with
    .bash_profile
    .bash_login
    .profile
If will use the first file it finds in the above order and stop looking as soon as it finds a match.  So it is important that you edit the correct file.  The
    /bin/ls -a
command will tell you want leading period filenames exist in your home directory
I'll also give you one word of caution.  When playing on the Unix side of Mac OS X, and following instructions you do not understand, it is generally wise to have a very recent full backup of your system.  There are some commands that can make your system unusable should you enter them blindly.

  • Camera raw file not found

I have adobe photoshop cs6 on mac os 10.6.8. I recently tried to upgrade my camera raw plugin and now when going to about plugin camera raw it pops a window open saying could not complete camera raw command file not found. Please help for i have no idea whats going on.

Yes that does seem to be my first issue. But now i think I might have to many plug-ins duplicated or downloaded causing it to crash. It is still is giving me the same response. It says "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file,'' when trying to open any cr2 or jpeg. When I click on; about plug-in, camera raw, its says "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found," does this mean the file is misplaced or might i have too many duplicate plug-ins in the same location causing confusion. I just don't know where the plug-ins need to be nor where they're located to even fix the issue. Also if it matters my bridge appears to be Bridge CC and its working with Photoshop CS6. So if any one knows of how to resolve this issue of lost camera raw plug-in please fill me in.

  • Compiling package Not found

    Hi All,
I have windows XP. I have java files in following 3 directories that I want to compile.
    C:\spring\commands\*.java
    C:\spring\controller\*.java
    c:\spring\service\*.java
I went in to command directory and run javac *.java --- all java files successful compile
I went to service directory and run javac -d *.java It keeps complaining
AuthenticationService.java:9: package spring.commands does no exist
    import springexample.commands.LoginCommand; not found
On the contrary AuthenticationService.class is present in the commands directory. Then why it complains and what is the solution ?
    thanks
    pp

Assuming all classes' source code starts with one of the following: package spring.commands; package spring.controller; package spring.service (and in the associated directory).javac -claspath c: spring\commands\*.java spring\controller\*.java spring\service\*.javaThe classpath must contain the root directory for the package, in this case c: not the package directories themselves. So the path to the .class file is classpath_directory + package_directory(s).
I am not sure that c: will be interpreted as a valid directory - you may need to use c:\ or you may need to put the .java files in a better directory such as c:\myjava.

I opened the contents of the application and run the shell script for opening aplication there it worked very fine and application started working.. But if i open application directly through launchpad or finder it doesnt show up and console
I tried running those commands in the terminal directly there they work.. But dunno whats wrong in here. and even if try to open the application through the terminal it all opens fine.. what could be the possible problem, is it with my mac..?

i finally figured out the problem.. it is with the environmental variables.  the path for all those commands like "grep" is not being set for the GUI applications.  that is why i got that error.
for those GUI applications which require path, we have to set path in the file /etc/launchd.conf  the environmental variables set in here are used by the gui applications and those which are launched through spotlight.
that file may bot be present in most of the macs. No problem even if not present,we can create one and use.
    so  type in terminal
              $ sudo vi /etc/launchd.conf
and in the editor add these lines
              setenv PATH = /new/path
and save.  Note: replace /new/path with the path which you need to have for the commands used in the script.
remeber that you need to restart your mac for applications to use these environmental variables.
