Command to control the tile menu in Win8.1

Hello,
I'm working on an automation project and was wondering if there is a specific cmd I can run to minimize the tile menu? If not via command prompt, through the shell maybe or with posh? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
We could use shortcut minimize the tiles of the start screen. Then export this start screen layout as a XML file.
Then use Start Screen Layout group policy to attach this XML file to deploy.

Your vi won't load on our machines without the TDS' driver. If you "Save with options" as a "Development Distribution" it should include the required sub-vi's. The be sure and "zip" the resulting .llb file to reduce its size.

Why is the "Send to iDVD" command missing from the share menu in iPhoto 9.4.3 when trying to send a slideshow to iDVD?

How come the "Send to iDVD" command is missing from the share menu? In iPhoto I used to be able to send my slideshows to iDVD simply my clicking on the slideshow, selecting the "Share" menu at the top and going to "Send to iDVD". Now in iPhoto 9.4.3 that option is missing.
Further i am also using iDVD 7.1.2 and running OSX version 10.8.3.

Export the slideshow via the Export button at the bottom of the slideshow window with Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, choose a theme and drag the exported movie file to the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

Pages. Shorcut for "Duplicate" command from the "archive" menu ?

When i make a keyboard shortcut for the "Duplicate" command from the "Archive" menu, it only works once, because when I close Pages and open it again, the shortcut disapears from the command "Duplicate" in the archive menu and it is reasigned to the "Duplicate" command from the "Edit" menu. How can i fix this?

I recommend sending feedback to Apple. I have sent feedback for Pages, Numbers & OS X.The more people who send feedback, the more likely changes will be made.
Feedback works. When iWork '09 first came out there was a lot of ranting about the move of Export to the Share menu. With the first update Export was added back to the File menu & was also left in the Share menu.
Here's what I sent to the OS X feedback.
The loss of Save As… in Numbers 2.1, Pages 4.1 & Preview in Lion is extremely frustrating, particularly since there is no keyboard command for File > Duplicate. Trying to assign ⌘ ⇧ S in System Preferences doesn't work because OS X "decides" to then assign that to Edit > Duplicate which, by default is ⌘ D. I have to take my hands off the keyboard, go to the File menu & then select Duplicate in order to create a new document with the same basic content. Having a keyboard command for File > Duplicate would go a long way in solving this problem for me & many others who complain in Apple Support Communities.

How do I export apps from my iPhone to my iMac? I received notice that there is an update now for the iOS in my iPhone, but that I first needed to transfer some files (apps?) from the iPhone to my iMac. But I cannot find anything in the Help menu on this.

Move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on File, and choose Transfer Purchases. If you need to authorize the computer, the command is in the Store menu.

Word 2001 is Missing the "File" Menu

I am missing the "FILE" menu from word. I Have the apple menu edit, view, insert, format etc... but "FILE" is missing.
I rebuilt the desktop trashed word's preferences, zapped PRAM. Copied the App from a cloned hard drive but "FILE" will not come back no matter what I do.
The app does respond to the keyboard commands found in the file menu but I don't have all of those memorized. And it seems to work fine otherwise.
Any clues to help me trouble-shoot this would be appreciated.

Go back into Preferences and trash the Word Preferences again. And empty the trash. In fact use Sherlock to make sure all Word Settings files are gone.
I used to get this (and still do sometimes). I seemed to get it more with Excel and the Data menu. Can't say how long it would be gone for, but as soon as I needed to use it to sort data, I'd see it was gone.

I'm trying to clean up my library before I sync it with my new ipod touch. Apparently there is a DISPLAY DUPLICATES command in the file menu...can't find it?

You might need to bring up the menu bar first.
If you're using version 11.0.1.12, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Now you should be able to find the duplicates thing in the View Menu.
(If you're still using iTunes version 11.0.0.163, you'd need to update to 11.0.1.12 to get the Display duplicates control.)
EDIT: Sorry, in the initial version of this reply, I said the Show Duplicate items was in the File Menu. It's in the View Menu in version 11.0.1.12.

No "never cut words" command in the contextual menu

When you control-click on a word, the contextual menu does not always contain the "never cut words" command (in french: "Ne jamais couper les mots"). Why ?

In English it's "Never Hyphenate" & the words I don't see it on are words that can't be hyphenated, such as very short words. My understanding is that hyphenation doesn't use a dictionary or list of words but uses an algorithm or formula to hyphenate. I found that the word "word" doesn't give the option of hyphenation but "words" does. But neither word can be hyphenated.

How do I control the size of a command buttoon in a table control?

I was wondering if there is a way to control the height of a command button in a table control.
There does not appear to be a column or cell attribute that can achieve this.

Thanks for the reply, I came to that conclusion as well. What I have is a mixed table with instructions that word wrap in one cell, a command button to log step completion, and I needed the row height to be set to the tallest cell contents, so all I really needed to do was set the word wrap for my text instruction cell, and then as each row is programmatically inserted and the table is populated call:
SetTableRowAttribute(panel, table, row, ATTR_SIZE_MODE, VAL_USE_EXPLICIT_SIZE);
SetRowHeightToTallestCellContents(panel, table, row);
That will allow the row to be sized accordingly without having to worry about the number of visible text lines for the text cell.

Mac shuts down if I do not keep either the Fn, Command or control button held down ?

Hi. I have a mac book pro late 2011 model. I am running Mavericks but but I have a problem where my mac shuts down if I do not keep either the Fn, Command or control button held down. Also if/when this shut down happens I need to hold the shift-control-option keys to restart the mac.
Anybody got any advice for me ?

It is Command+r or for the online internet system it is Command+option/Alt+r keys. Then you use Disk Utility to erase the macintosh partition, from the built in recovery hd, or you can repartition the drive as one partition from the online system.
To actually get to the online internet system you have to hold that key combo down until you see a globe on the screen. Otherwise it will just boot from the built in recovery hd on the internal drive.

Command to handle the double click on a Grid Control

Hello,
In my application, I am adding multiple 'Grid' controls inside the 'Canvas' control. Each of this 'Grid' control is binded to a ViewModel object (say 'GridInformationViewModel') which is having a command saying 'ShowPropertiesWindow' to show a new window
for respective Grid control. Grids are dynamically getting added in the Canvas control for each the new ViewModel 'GridInformationViewModel'.
How i can bind this command for each of the 'Grid'?

I tried adding code as per your suggestion. But i am not able to get the command working using the 'Interaction.Triggers'. Here is the code which i am using. Binding is working properly for this code only the command is not getting fired for the Grid control

My bookmarks have vanished. I want to re-import from Safari. But the "Import" command in the File menu is not available. What's up?

Firefox works fine. However, my bookmarks toolbar is marked as <empty>. Didn't used to be. I have no idea where they've gone.
So rather than dwell on the loss, I thought I'd move ahead by importing the bookmarks I have in Safari over to Firefox. No luck, the "import" command on the File menu is de-highlighted. I cannot select it.
