Command to Remove remove from dock for finder

Hi there. I accidentally ran a command twice for the "Remove from Dock" thing to pop up for finder. What can I do to remove this? I have already tried the plist thing, and it did not work, because I ran it twice. How can I reset it and the dock???

I'm not sure I understand what you have done, but the Dock can be reset by doing a Dock restart using the following Terminal command:
killall Dock
Log out/in and test. If that doesn’t work, you need to look in your user Library/Applications Support/Dock for the .db. Use the Finder “Go To Folder” command. Enter ~/ Library/Applications Support/Dock.  Move the .db to your desktop.
Then try a dock reset.
Applications/Utilities/Terminal enter the command
killall Dock
Log out/in test. If it works okay, delete the .db from the desktop.
If the Dock is the same, return the .db to where you got them from, overwriting the newer ones.
If you prefer to make your user library permanently visible, go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Learned from leonie.
I have to use it after every update.

Click the Finder icon in the Dock to launch it.
Open the Application folder and find the Launchpad application.
    Drag it to the Dock.

  • T-61 fully discharges when docked and power removed from dock

Is there any way to stop my T-61 from fully discharging when powered off & docked and power is removed from dock?
(I remove power from the dock to cut down on parasitic power drains in the office)
I usually remember to remove it from the dock but when I don't, it soemtimes goes into deep dioscharge and I have to remove the memory to get it restarted again.
    That is a huge pain.

I've just flashed the new BIOS (version 1.30) but the issue still persist. Is Lenovo aware of the issue with USB 3.0 SAS storage attached during system boot?
Since flashing BIOS 1.26 the behavior has changed, I can now see ThinkPad BIOS screen, then Windows 7 start loading and shortly after the Windows loading logo is displayed I get a black screen with "text mode" progress bar like the one displayed when you insert Windows 7 DVD - then I end up with a BIOS screen prompting me to select a boot device. After selecting the primary HDD, it all happens again so I am stuck in a loop (except now it asks if I want to do a system repair).
In 1.30 BIOS changelog it says:
(Fix) Fixed an issue where the computer might not be booted from bootloader program.
Unfortunately, this is probably referring to another issue which is not related to the connected SAS device.
Is there some way to submit this particular issue to Lenovo or is someone already working on resolving it?

In the upper right of the panel that opens offering you the options of displaying a message or playing a sound, remote wipe, remote lock... is a link to remove the device. The link is only present when a location for the device cannot be determined.

  • Leading zeros remove from FB05 for assignment field in process open items b

    Dear expert
At present i am using the electronic bank statement completed OT83 & OT51configuration, when i am running FF-5 the EBS soft copy has been uploaded and created batch input session.
I executed  batch input session and the transactions has been posting through FB05 for outgoing payment clearing  with assignment field ( where check number is laying correctly and matching EBS soft copy cheque number and SAP outgoing clearing account line item assignment cheque number ) in case of outgoing clearing is happening correctly.
but where as i have a problem incoming clrg cheque number which is displaying in assignment field and updated when client using FF68(check deposit / collections).
the user is punching all collections from customers using t.code FF68 and cheque number is updated with 6 digit number in the variant. it is like a JV.
after posting batch input session the cheque is number displaying in assignment field. the cheque number is updated with 6 digit number. but in the variant cheque number width 6 digit only  but after posting FF68 & SM35 the system automatically taking leading zeros for the remaining length. Cheque number standard length in SAP 13 in table .
total 13 digit length but user punched only 6 digit only, because the cheque number 6 digit numberonly. so the remaining 7 digits it is occupaying 0000000.
while executing FF_5 and SM35  (thr FB05) the assignment field cheque number (0000000586585) and soft copy cheque number 6 digit (586585) is not matching , because of that i am unable to clear the incoming collections or incoming payments clrg.
so how  can i remove the leading zeros after cheque number ( actually displaying 0000000586585 , but i want without zeros only cheque number 586585) in assignment field in FB05 using FF-5 & SM35).
is there any enhancement or user exit to remove leading zeros or any other way of work around .
    Regards

    Hi Amareswar,
In your case, request your bank to provide cheque number with leading zeros in electronic bank statement as the leading zeros in the assignment field is SAP system behaviour.
Alternatively, use 'Define Search String for Electronic Bank Statement' (refer http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/EN/6d/0cdf4b142e11d3963800a0c9426c73/frameset.htm for details) in the IMG, customize it to search for the cheque number provided in the note to payee field > then append leading zeros.
The first method is the solution we are using and it is the most cost effective.
    Hope the above helps.
    Kind regards,
    John Chin

  • Icon won't remove from Dock permanently

I can't remove an icon (HP Director (All-in-One)) from my Dock properly.
I can drag it off the Dock & it will disappear, but every time I reboot the icon is back again. It isn't in my Login Items to start up (& it's not running when I remove it).
Any ideas on how I can remove it permanently from my Dock?

Write a nasty email to HP about this obnoxious behavior. What they have done is create a hidden program that runs automatically on startup and inserts the thing in your Dock. You can delete the noxious program, but it leaves an entry in the login.plist file so that the system tries vainly to launch the now missing program. Bad HP! You need to remove the program AND edit your login.plist file. See this description:

I consider this behavior adequate reason to not buy HP products.

  • Remove-From-Dock Smoke/Sound Every Time Chrome is Opened

This is a bizarre issue... not a huge deal but annoying nonetheless.  That puff of smoke that you get whenever you remove something from the dock, shows up everytime I open up Chrome, up by the menu bar.  Anyone know what could be causing this?
I'm running Mavericks and the latest version of Google Chrome on a new Macbook Air.  Many thanks!
    Kelli

Just in case anyone else ever has this issue:  deleting the bookmark on the toolbar that was up by the puff of smoke did the trick. (I added it back again afterward.)

When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window.
    Wait.
    Application will quit.
If this does not help, press the power button for 7 or more seconds.

  • Applications folder missing from Dock and Finder

I was a little confused to find my applications folder missing from the Dock on my Macbook Pro today - I can't think of anything which I may have done to actively cause it to go missing. I opened up the finder and dragged the applications icon from the LHS of the finder onto the RHS of the dock, but rather than reappearing in the doc it just disappeared.
When I went back to the finder to try again I discovered that it had vanished from there as well. I ran a search in the finder for "applications" and found the applications folder in the results, but when I try to open it I get the following error message "The alias “Applications” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found."
Does anyone have any ideas on what might have caused this or on how I get my Applications folder back on the Dock? Any help would be really appreciated!

The Applications folder on the dock is a shortcut, or more specifically, an alias.
It sounds like what you did was to drag the Applications item from the Finder sidebar...which is also an alias. By dragging it from the sidebar, it's as if you'd dragged an icon off the dock. It poofs and disappears.
To get them back, open a Finder window and navigate to Macintosh HD (or whatever you've named your hard drive). At the root level of the drive lives your Applications folder (the actual folder, not an alias). Drag that one to the sidebar to replace that shortcut, and drag it again to the Dock to replace that shortcut as well.
If you click on Macintosh HD and all you see are System, Library, and Users and have no Applications folder, then something terrible has happened.

  • Can't open certain files from Dock or Finder Window

Since going to OS 10.6 certain files won't open from the dock or by double clicking them in a Finder window. I think this may only be Excel files. Not all of them behave this way. I haven't found a pattern yet. My dock set up has Folders displayed as lists. When I navigate to a file in a list it should open when I release the mouse. Some do, some don't. Same with finder window, some docs won't open with a double click. They can only be opened by going to Excel and navigating from the File > Open menu. I often Save As on files as I build a new show on top of an old one. Probably an Excel issue. Any ideas?

Nope. For example, one folder has two xls workbooks, two Word docs and a pdf. Only one of the xls workbooks won't open. All the other files open normally. When I try to open the problem xls workbook, whether from the dock or the Finder window, I end up in Excel, but without the workbook opening. When I quit Excel, the problem workbook started Excel, but didn't open.
Update - I'm seeing something now. I use Excel to build "shows," I'm a production mixer for television. I went to one folder, five xls workbooks open fine, four do not. The four that don't open were modified (Save As with changes) with each "show." This was the first pattern I've noticed and only because that particular subfolder had the four workbooks with that relationship. The other xls workbook I described has the Save As file in another folder, but I'm not sure what the original file was. Note - those two "corrupt" files are unrelated, they had different "parents."
What could I look for in the original file that won't open and passed that gene onto its spawn?

  • Remove "Finder" from dock in Mountain Lion?

I would like to remove the Finder icon from my dock.
I know people are going to ask "Why?" Simply because, I don't like it being there.
I know Finder is always open and I know to close it would cause problems. I don't want to close it, I am just wondering if there is a way to remove, or hide it, from the dock so I don't have to see it.
    Thanks!

I found the solution a few years ago, and posted it on the forums I could find, but nobody seemed to propogate it.  The LSUI Element solution is FLAWED because the menu of the application dissapears when the application is running.
Anyway, the solution is to edit DockMenus.plist and add a "Remove from Dock" option to the "finder-running" category.  Then you can remove it by right clicking like normal.  You can find the remove from dock option in DockMenus, and then copy and paste it into the finder-running category.  And if you add it to the processes category, you can remove other running applications too!
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock/Contents/Resources/DockMenus.plist
Now, once you remove the Finder, it can only reappear if the Dock process is relaunched.  And this only happens when you log in.  So the best way to have your Finder icon always gone, is to make a small applescript which clicks the "Remove from Dock" option FOR you, and then put that applescript in your login items.
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Dock"
tell UI element "Finder" of list 1
                        perform action "AXShowMenu"
click menu item "Remove from Dock" of menu 1
              end tell
    end tell
This worked for Snow Leopard and it works for Mountain Lion too.  I'm assuming it worked for Lion also.

  • I want to remove the icon for Photo Booth from the dock, not from the computer. How do I do this?

I would like to remove the icon for PHOTO BOOTH from the dock only, not the computer. Is this possible and if so, how do I do it? Running OS 10.9.3

Click & drag it away from the Dock; or Ctrl (right) click it, choose Options - Remove From Dock.

  • Unable to add or remove items from dock

First, sorry if this is a duplicate post - I did a number of searches and came up with lots of "frozen dock" and other bugs that weren't this one. There seemed to be pages and pages and after several I just gave up and posted myself.
For the past few weeks I have noticed that I have been unable to remove any items from the dock. It is not that I get an error message when I try to remove them, they just don't budge.
If an item is in the doc and the program is active, and I ctrl-click on the item - there is no longer a "Remove from dock" option.
Further if a program is in the doc only because it is running and is not "always there", the ctrl-click will no longer give the "Keep in dock" option either.
The lack of error message almost makes me think I have set some "feature" without realizing it - rather than encountering a bug.
However, I would very much like it to go away anyway
    Anyone have any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Will
    Powerbook G4 15" Mac OS X (10.4.6)

It sounds like you might have the 'contents-immutable' setting enabled on your "Dock". The only GUI available to an OS X client machine to adjust this setting is under "Parental Controls" in the "Accounts" pref pane - if your account is listed there as "managed", then it's possible that it may have become activated, in which case it should be possible to log out of the account, then in to an "admin" account and change the setting from there.
Unlike "parental controls" which manage the "Dock" through 'mcx_settings', it is also possible to set the property directly in the "com.apple.dock.plist" file in the user's "~/Library/Preferences" folder. Usually this wouldn't be expected to happen by accident - third party software is often involved when hidden settings are suddenly found to have been enabled.
If 'contents-immutable' has been set in the ".plist" file, one way to get rid of it is to move the "com.apple.dock.plist" file out of the "~/Library/preferences" folder, logging out and back in. The "Dock" will revert to default settings so it will be necessary to reconfigure it again. Alternatively, try opening "/Applications" > "Utilities" > "Terminal.app" and entering these commands:<pre>defaults delete com.apple.dock contents-immutable
osascript -e 'tell application "Dock" to quit'</pre>

  • Lost iMovie by removing it from dock?

Stupid noobie question I am sure... But how can I find iMovie after removing from dock?
I am a new-ish mac user still getting used to things. I was recently cleaning up my dock removing programs I don't use that often. I removed iMovie by right clicking and "remove from dock". It poofed away and now I can't find it anywhere. It is not in my applications nor does it turn up when I do a spotlight search. Other apps that I removed from dock are found in my applications folder (like iDVD for instance), but not iMovie.
    Any idea where it is?
    Thank you in advance.
    Message was edited by: xvertigenx

Look in your movies folder for a folder called imovie projects, open it and you will see all your projects safely stored, don't try moving any, just double click on one and imovie should open.
With imovie open, go to the dock, click on the imovie icon and select show in Finder, this should locate the application for you. You could the close imovie, move the application folder to where it should be (applications) and drag it to the dock from there so it becomes permanently available in the dock.
