Commandline for RAID manager
I have a Solaris 8 System that has a Sun A1000 attached to it. Every thing I read says to use the RAID manager to mange it. Because it was already installed before I came on the scene, I don't know any specifics.
This is a remote system therefore using the RAID manager 6 GUI isn't an option. Is there a commandline (or equivelent software)?
Hello Leon,
please review the <b>Sun StorEdge RAID Manager 6.22 User's Guide</b> for a description of the commandline interface.

I have an A1000 and have been all over the Sun and sunsolve sites looking for raid manager 6.2 or higher, but the download link redirects me to a new storage hardware page. Does anyone have any idea where I can get this software for Solaris 9

Please need help with RAID Manager (+)
Good day
Could someone give me advice is it possible to organize RAID-5 under Solaris 5.7?
I use SUN SPARC Enterprise 250 with four USCSI HDDs (Seagate 18Gb/10k).
One of the hardware requirments for RAID Manager is:
RAID modules with two A3x00 controllers.
I suppose if I use SCSI - A3x00 controllers are already there? Or I missed something and this should be shipped separately? Is there any way to check are there any A3x00 controllers in my system?
Thanks a lot and happy holidays!
Regards,
RomanHi Roman,
The Raid Manager software is specifically for managing some of Sun's external storage arrays, namely the A1000, A3000 & A3500. Raid Manager will be of no use for the internal disks in the Ultra Enterprise 250. What you should be looking at is DiskSuite which is software based RAID that is supplied with Solaris 8. You will find great documentation for Disksuite installation and usage on http://docs.sun.com

I am currently working on a project , in which I am connecting an x86 W1100Z Sun server, running Solaris 10, to an A1000 through using an LM320 Dual SCSI card.
The theory is to use SAMBA to share the A1000's file systems across a network consisting of Solaris and Windows hosts.
Despite the proper connection (and termination) of the A1000 to the SCSI card , I am unable to see the A1000 from the "format" command.
I am also unable to find a copy of RAID Manager 6.22.1 which will run on an x86 architecture.
Can someone please advise on how to proceed?
Thanks.Thanks for the info.
I know that Sun doesn't support A1000 any more, and that it is old-school (plus isn't supported on Solaris 10). However, just 'cos it ain't supported, don't mean it doesn't work!!!!
I had the same A1000 hooked onto the same W1100Z, running Windows Server 2003 and it had no problems seeing it (as a JBOD rather than a RAID, but that's not really a problem once you set up the A1000 to manage itself).
I just find it very hard to believe that there would be a curcumstance where Windows could do something / support something that Solaris doesn't!!!!
I'll try hooking the A1000 onto one on my v880's and re-configuring it as RAID 5 using RM6.22.1, then attach it to the W1100Z and see what happens there.
Any more advice would still be appreciated. -
RAID Management Software for TS130 (Windows Server 2008 R2)
Hello, I'm needing assistance locating RAID management software for the TS130 in Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. In Device Manager, the drive has the following hardware ID: "IDE\DiskRAID11.0.00__". Does anyone know of a utility to check and monitor the health of this RAID array from within Windows?
Hi beau_goldkey,
Thank you for pointing out that we don't have the Intel RAID Management GUI software on the TS130 support page. We'll work on getting that resolved. In the meantime, the same software is used for the TS140 and can be found here.
I apologize for the inconvenience! -
Raid manager and format utility inconsistency
Hi,
I have two A1000 module attached to Sun Fire 280 R with X6541A through both channels. Here is raidutil info for (c3t4d0 and c4t8d0)
# raidutil -c c3t4d0 -i
LUNs found on c3t4d0.
LUN 0 RAID 3 381620 MB
Vendor ID Symbios
ProductID StorEDGE A1000
Product Revision 0301
Boot Level 03.01.02.33
Boot Level Date 06/16/99
Firmware Level 03.01.02.35
Firmware Date 08/12/99
raidutil succeeded
# raidutil -c c4t8d0 -i
LUNs found on c4t8d0.
LUN 0 RAID 5 172345 MB
Vendor ID Symbios
ProductID StorEDGE A1000
Product Revision 0205
Boot Level 03.01.04.00
Boot Level Date 04/05/01

raidutil succeeded!
# lad
c3t4d0 1T04469376 LUNS: 0
c4t8d0 1T03843281 LUNS: 0
Those output actually reflecting the settings,
But what format command gave me is inconsistent with raid manager:

/pci@8,600000/SUNW,qlc@4/fp@0,0/ssd@w21000004cf092afe,0

2 backup wu 0 - 43083 168.30GB (43084/0/0) 352944128
so in format, c3t4d0 is actually reflecting c4t8d0
Anyone can give me a hint,
Thanks,
WeiYeah, you probably want to go through rebuilding the device paths. This amounts to removing everything in /dev/osa/dev/dsk, /dev/osa/dev/rdsk, and /devices/pseudo/rdnexus. Then performing
a reconfiguration boot.
If you're uncomfortable with this, open a service call, or look for
the string hot_add, under Infodocs and Symptoms and Resolutions in the Sunsolve search engine.
Another string is "Syncing lad and format".
Good luck! -
Just wanted to see what everyone's opinion was on my setup. I bought the Sonnet Tempo E4P SATAII PCI-Express card to attach two external Western Digital My Book Studio 1TB drives. I run windows vista 64 and wanted to try to RAID these drives together in a RAID 0 configuration. In Vista I can stripe the volumes together, but not sure which type of RAID this would be. I wanted to see if there was perhaps a software RAID manager anyone could recommend to run this RAID in Vista 64 on my Mac Pro. Sonnet does not have any software to do this. Anyone have any experience with this setup?
Thanks,
TobyWD does not include the RE2 in the MyBook. Sonnet does not support using WD SE's.
Use what you have for PC backup or storage. Get a couple REs and case.
Depends on what you need to accomplish, budget, but if you work with SD or HD video I guess you need 3 drives to break 220MB/sec?
Also, you have to go through the MyBook interface bridge, but confess I've never bought one so I don't know the particulars.
The best case for your drives:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Firmtek/SATA2EN2/
Cheaper but adequate:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MESATATBEK/
WD 750GB RE2 $220
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Western%20Digital/WD7500AYYS/
1TB RE2 $280
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Western%20Digital/WD10FYPS/
Also, is the 1TB MyBook - isn't it just two 500GB drives already in an internal RAID of its own? or just a single drive? In which case it would not be designed at all for RAIDs.

RAID manager failed!!!!!!!!!!!
hi,
i installed the RAID manager on my server Enterprise 220R, but during the installation it gave me this error:
drvconfig: driver failed to attach: rdriver

i have SrorEDGE A1000 connected to the server
PS:at the back panel of the A1000 the "controller active" LED is on..so it whould work, no?!!!
any advice??
Thanks.Hello,
the A1000 isn't supported under Solaris 10 (by Sun, under service contract, ...), but works.
Rainer Orth and Fredrik Lundholm posted instructions on comp.unix.solaris. This an except from the post
Fredrik Lundholm < ... > wrote:
RDAC stands for Redundant Disk Array Controller Support, and is only
needed for path failover on RSM2000/A3000/A3500/A3500FC. Since A1000
only has a single controller it is not needed. rm6 talks to the A1000
through Lun 0.I had complained loudly during Solaris 10 Platinum Beta when I first
learned about removal of RM6/A1000 support in S10 FCS *without any
appropriate prior notice (i.e.: EOL notices) in S9 Release Notes*.
Unfortunately, this didn't help to bring the support back, but my support
engineer quickly determined that RM6 runs just fine with an A1000.
I later learned that the claimed reason for support removal was that the
A1000 itself had been EOLed before S10 went FCS.
Perhaps in some cases RM6 is looking for the RDAC paths in order to
determine where the modules are? So while the driver isn't technically
required it can still cause issues by its absence? The rdriver won't load in S10:

Nov 21 23:24:47 sequoia krtld: [ID 472681 kern.notice] WARNING: mod_load: cannot load module 'rdriver'
But since rdriver and rdnexus are only needed for RDAC (which doesn't do anything useful with the single-controller A1000), I just rem_drv'ed both and disabled RDAC support in /etc/osa/rmparams,
as I had already done in S8:

This way, an A1000 works just fine when connected to an E3000 with 4 x 167 MHz UltraSPARC I CPUs running Solaris Express Build 33, including arraymon and the RM6 GUI and CLI interfaces :-)
I'm actually using it for some ZFS testing, which works amazingly well, considering the old and slow hardware.
Hope this helps.

The instructions worked for me. I did remove the two forceloads (rdriver, rdnexus) in /etc/system as well.
Sideeffect: These changes removed the long delay (about 5-10 minutes) during boot Solaris 9/Solaris 10 too.

LaCie Raid manager unable to access localhost:8845 in OS X server Yosemite
I am running OS X server Yosemite. I have an external LaCie RAID Storage box. The RAID manager software that comes with the LaCie communicates settings by accessing the hardware via a web browser (ie. localhost:8845). I am able to access this port on my macbook pro just running OS X Yosemite but when I plug the hardware into my OS X server, that access is blocked.
Can anyone provide me with instructions to allow browser connection to the localhost. I assume it is an apache2 problem. But maybe that is just my guess.
Thank you in advance.Hi,
Got a reply from LaCie, they are aware of this problem and are working on a permanent fix. In the meanwhile I got a zip file, which contained a terminal.command file from which I have posted the code here, you need to save that file as an executable so you can run it.
As always create a backup first, goodluck!

After a RAID 5 failure, I have set up my data volume as RAID 10 using 4x2TB WD Red drives. The volume shows as OK on bootup and in the
Intel Rapid Storage Technology dialogue but it does not come up as an available drive.
I have initialised it in both the Intel Rapid Storage Technology dialogue and in
Control Panel\ Administrative Tools\ Disk Management and presumably I have yet to create a new volume in
Disk Management. For RAID 10 do I select New Spanned Volume..., New Striped Volume... or New Mirrored Volume?
I don't think it can be a spanned volume but since RAID 10 is both striped and mirrored, which do I select?Glad to here it is sloved, thanks for sharing your solution and experience here.

Replication of a BP in CRM as a FI Vendor in ECC for Grants Management
Hi,
We are implenting SAP CRM 7 with SAP ECC for Grants Management, integrated with FI AP (we're not using PSCD).
For BP replication we followed the next steps, however something looks it is incorrect because my BDOC still shows errors:
The middleware settings had been completed between the CRM and the ECC system.
- Site, Suscription and replication from CRM to SAP ECC are in placed
-The next replication object are activated:
-All Business Partners (MESG) (BUPA_MAIN)
-All Busines Partner Relationships (MESG) (BUPA_REL)
-All Business Transactions (MESG)
-Grantor Program Management
Also we implemented the next steps:
1) Define the number ranges for BP groupings in CRM: This number range would be internal in CRM and External in ECC.
CRM (IMG) -> Customer Relationship Management -> Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Basic Settings ->
Number Ranges and Groupings
2) Since the BP would be replicated as a BP in ECC we define the same number ranges in ECC too:
ERP (IMG) -> Customer Relationship Management -> Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Basic Settings ->
Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges
3) Activate the post-processing framework: (Business processes CVI_02 and CVI_04 in Component AP-MD)
ERP (IMG) -> Cross-Application Components -> General Application Functions ->Postprocessing Office -> Business Processes->
Activate Creation of Postprocessing Orders
4) Activate PPO Requests for Platform Objects in the Dialog:
ERP (IMG) -> Cross-Application Components -> Master Data Synchronization -> Synchronization Control -> Synchronization
Control -> Activate PPO Requests for Platform Objects in the Dialog

Q&A db for warehouse management and inventory management
Hello Everybody,
i read on the help.sap website that standard as well as industry specific versions of Q&A db are available. but the website doesnt say where. i searched a lot but the links dont lead to the actual Q&A db.
i would like to request you to kindly share the Q&A db for inventory management and warehouse management with me as i need it for preparing the AS IS documentation.(preferably automotive industry but if not then even standard Q&A db is fine).
thanks a lot.
sapman. Now QADB will not help to map the clinets requirement. Instead of QADB get AS IS information form Coreusers... thats best practice now....
Go through www.sap-img.com for further details...
