Commands/Import, Import from an SD card

I want to import directly from my SD card. I can't do that if I go File/Import/Files, which would seem to be the place to go. Instead, I find hidden under the Final Cut Pro menu/Commands/Import and that works. That seems awful strange to hide it there. Am I missing something? What is different about that import from the other import in the file menu?

Sorry, I guess I was mistaken as to why my clips on the card showed up. I just tried it again, and the import window just appears when I insert the card. That's great!

iPhoto 11 doesn't show the photos that I just imported from an SD card, but says its importing to library 15 min after SD card is removed. The import seemed to start normally, I went to mail to check messages, came back to iPhoto & the usual prompt about wanting to delete the photos on the card never came up. The photos didn't show up in events or the library & the device icon wasn't showing so I tried to import again. A prompt then came up saying that I needed to wait until the import was done!

Hi, this problem is also happening to me also. I just took some pics of my daughter on my nikon d3100 and imported them from SD card to iPhoto. It says 'preparing to import' but during the process i do not see the photos being imported. After it was done, there was a new event album, i clicked opend it to see my photos but all of them were blank. I forced quit and re-launched iPhoto but it didnt work, i even re-imported, not to no avail.. Please help.  Earlly 2011 13' MacBook pro 10.7.2

  • ABAP command "import from database..."

Can someone in this forum explain to me the low level  details behind the ABAP command "import from database"?
The select in tables like stxl, indx, moni just retrieves data in hex format for the fields of type raw or lraw.
But the command import from database works fine!
What's the magic? Compression? Hash algorithms? etc?
    Thanks!

When you import a field from a database, it should be the same name and format when it was exported. These databases are a cluster table where data is stored in raw. I assumed it will read the cluster portion of the record and convert it into the field structure byte by byte. These tables have field CLUSTR which store the byte size of the record. So if you are willing to program the read, where you find out the length of the field you want to IMPORT, then read that number of byte from the cluster data, move it to the field you are importing, you should be able to do your own read. However, if we can do it in 1 statement using IMPORT, we don't need to program it.
Cluster table is used to save space since you don't need to create a new database record for each line of internal table you stored into them. Hope this helps.

  • Imports from my memory card to Aperture have suddenly become scrambled, not in numerical, chronological or any order. Whats up?

Imports from my memory card to Aperture have suddenly become scrambled. Not in numerical, chronological, or any order.

Hi waynecook.  More information is needed in order to provide a helpful response.
What settings are you using in the Import dialog?
Can you sort the images once they are imported?
Are they sorted/sortable in the Import dialog?
Into what container are you importing them?
Is your installation of Aperture and of OS X completely up-to-date?

  • LR 1.3 won't import from CF, SD cards in Leopard

With Leopard (OSX 10.5.1 - iMac 24), LR is unable to import all the files from our cameras (both CF and SD cards). It will get 6-10 images but that's about it. If we delete the images that imported and start again, we will get another 6-10. Using a card reader might be a little better but still not more than 10-12 images. If we copy the cards to a USB photo bank and then import from that, it works OK; we get all the images. Aperture (1.5.6) is able to import with no problem.

I'm having the same problem with my Nikon .nef images, except LR 1.3/Leopard can't import from my card reader either. Doesn't matter if it's a dozen images or 150, it will import the first five and then tell me it can't read the rest, although the error message says it can't read "the following files" and then gives the number of files that can't be read: 0. Zero. I can see the images in the preview pane, but it won't import them.
At first, I could delete all the five imported photos from the disk, eject the card, reinsert it and it would perform a full import. But for the last few days, it won't perform a full import at all. I have to copy the photos to my desktop and import from there -- hardly an efficient use of time or drive space. Works fine in other apps, and worked fine in Tiger, etc. etc.
Any thoughts as to why this might be?? Any fix???
    Thanks....

  • Problems importing from Compact Flash cards shot on Canon 5D Mark ll

On my first attempt at importing footage from the Canon 5D Mark ll, but I've not been able to do so. I'm using FCP 7 and I downloaded the Canon Log & Transfer plug-in. I followed the instructions on Canon's website exactly, but when I get to the stage where I need to pick a preference and try to pick 'Canon EOS,' when I click 'OK,' nothing happens. The clips just don't show up.
I know the clips are there as I can view them on the 5D and I was able to import them automatically into Aperture. However, I don't know how to do the necessary transcoding once they're imported into Aperture instead of FCP.
Anything obvious that I may be doing wrong?

Are you importing them directly from the camera card or from Aperture?
If from Aperture I had a similar problem with the 5D movies after I had imported them into Aperture and deleted everything off my card (I presume this is what you may have done)
The problem is that you need the associated .THM files that are created when you shoot a video on the 5d. These are the same name as the movie file but with the THM extension rather than .MOV.
    What I did was:
Create a folder structure on your hard drive that mirrors the structure on your camera:- ie
    DCIM
    EOS5D
Export all your .mov files from A3 into the EOS5D folder.
You then need to recreate a THM file for each of the .mov files and they have to have exactly the same name apart from the extension.
You can simply copy a THM file from your camera card and then just rename it. Repeat the process for each .mob file
Once you have done that you should be able to find the files, point to the DCIM folder however.
I had to do 270 of them and created a work flow in Automator to make it a bit faster.
However as the the metadata for the clip is contained in the THM file you will lose all that.
Trick is in the future to ensure that you don't rely on A3 for importing your movie files if you want to get them into FCP (or other software I presume). Do an exact copy of the card file structure and files onto your HD iof you want to import later.

  • How can I retrieve photos imported from a CF card?

I have imported photos from a CF card to my MacBook Air via card reader to iPhoto, later exported a couple of them to Facebook (i.e., I saw them in my iPhoto library after import). Then they disappeared. I run Yosemite and and have the latest version of iPhoto.

    MediaRecover or Picture Rescue
will recover images from a card.

  • Why are my photos importing from my sd card out of order?

Why are my photos importing out of sequence when uploading from an sd card?

The card is probably sorted alphanumerically in ascending order, i.e. a1, a2, a3, etc.  So set your view option to: Sort by Title Ascending. Then check to see if that's correct.  If not change it.

  • How can I delete the All Imported folder on my ipad (imported from an SD card)

When traveling, I import all of the pictures I take each day into the photos app to view the day's results, and provide a back up copy.  I then return the SD card to my camera for the next day's use.  In this way, at the end of my trip, I have all of my photos on both my SD card (or cards) and also my ipad.  When I return home, I load all of my photos into Photoshop on my PC for storage and editing.
I then wish to delete the entire All Imported folder from my ipad.  I have not found a way to do this.  I could theoretically individually select each photo and then delete them all.  This is impractical, however, since I have thousands of pictures on my ipad by the ende of the trip.
I seems to me that there must be a way to delete the entire imported folder, but I can't find it.  I can delete folders that I manually create using the edit function, but this doesn't work for the imported folders.
I haven't been able to find a solution on the community or using google.  Any help will be appreciated.

The iPhoto App can select all of the photos in the All Imported folder and delete them.

  • Canon MP560 how to scan/import from a memory card

I'm connected via Airport Express, printing and scanning is fine. I have installed the last update I can find (mp560sosxcp103030ea8-2). I want to import picture from a Compact Flash memory card, the printer perfectly read the card.
Message was edited by: Daniel Chenier

You may need to check the Advanced Guide for your MP560. This is part of the On-screen manual you can download from the Canon web site. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0300237701.html
The reason I suggest you check the guide is that according to the Guide for my MP980, the Card Slot cannot be used over a network for Mac OS X 10.5, and presumably 10.6. It functions fine when the printer is connected directly to the Mac via USB. But if you have the machine connecting via wireless to the Express, then it may not function. But given your model is a year newer than mine, maybe this limitation is no longer present. So, check the manual to confirm.

  • Why does Lightroom 5.2 & my mac crash on import from a memory card reader?

    I'm running Lightroom 5.2 on my iMac (OS X v 10.7.5).
When I try to upload raw files from my Compact Flash memory card reader (Lexar USB 3.0) the files begin to download. When it gets part way through download the download stops and I get the spinning wheel of death.
No matter what I try I cannot get Lightroom to shutdown or even the computer to shut down.
My only option is to disconnect the computer from the power.
When I re-start the images are downloaded but I do have to start from where I had left off to complete the download.
Does anyone have any idea's what I should do?
This computer has never run Lightroom before so I do not have a previous version of it on the HD.

Go to this page: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/camcorders/high_definition_camcor ders/vixia_hf_r20_black#DriversAndSoftware
    1. Download the drivers and/or other software required for the OS version you're running.
    2. Install the downloaded software/drivers.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Insert the memory card into your card reader.
    5. Copy the entire contents of the card to your media drive - do NOT  alter the folder structure.
    6. Launch FCP and use Log & Transfer on the files on your media drive.
