Comment enabled pdf's, showing pop-up when opening in acrobat professional.

Hi all,
We are sending the comment enabled pdf's to authors for review.
Some of the authors stating that its showing an pop-up when they open the PDF's:
We opened the same document in Acrobat 6,7,8 & 9. Professional and Reader. We did't get the above said message.
Are the authors using the outdated version of acrobat which was not compitable for "comment enable".
Please suggest.

  • Problems with comments-enabled PDF: I can't see my client's comments

    Hello,
I really hope somebody can help me.
THE SITUATION: I have a comments-enabled PDF. The comments repository is located on my externally hosted webdav server. Both my client and I have local copies of the PDF, and up until today, my client was able to post comments on the PDF.
    THE PROBLEM:
    - Today, my client suddenly noticed that the review had "expired" and she can't post her comments.
    - I am able to see and post my own comments in the PDF, but I can't see my client's comments in the PDF.
    - My client can see her own comments. (I don't know if she can see mine.)
    - If I log into my webdav site with FTP, I can see my client's XML file which contains all her comments. I can also see my own XML file which contains my comments, and it is indeed updating each time I add a new comment.
I thought it would be possible to import the XML file containing all her comments into the PDF. However XML is not a format that Acrobat allows you to import!!! It only will accept FDF, XFDF, or PDF!
Phone tech support was spectacularly unhelpful. I seriously doubt "Nelson" from Bombay has ever used Acrobat in his life. He asked me to send the file to him, which I did, but I haven't heard back.
    So my question is:
    1) How can I get my Acrobat file to view the comments which are sitting on the comments server in an xml file? Why would it see mine but ignore hers?
    2) If I can't get the comments to show up, then can I at least import my client's comments, which are currently sitting in an XML file, into my PDF?
bonus question: Why is there so little documentation about dealing with webdav comments repositories? Is it considered better to use acrobat.com instead of our own webdav server or something?
This is Acrobat 9.1.0 Pro for Leopard.

Thanks for your reply, Steve. Yes, she did say that there was an end date, but when I go there, I don't see one. Baffling.
I have decided to go over to her office, create an archive of her PDF, then try to pull those comments into a new PDF.
This is a GIANT PAIN. And egg in my face, after I've sold this client on the ease and convenience of a PDF workflow!
So is there any way to get xml comments back into a PDF???

  • How to get crop tool in comment enabled pdf file?

    Hi,
I want to place comments in pdf file using Reader 9. So i opened the pdf file in acrobat 8 and did 'Enable for commenting in Adobe Reader' so that i place the comments in Reader. I need all advanced editing tools. But when i comment enabled Crop tool will disappear. How can i enable crop tool in comment enable pdf?
    Thanks in advance...

You can't. By enabling commenting, you're adding certain usage rights to the document. In order for those usage rights to be preserved, certain types of changes (most) need to be prevented. If such changes were allowed (and actually made), the usage rights would be invalid and Reader would no longer be able to add comments to the file. So you can enable commenting in Reader, or allow for other changes in Acrobat, but not both with the same file.

  • HT1937 I have installed an app : Birdfield guide in my iPhone 4. But the app is not working after installation. It shows black screen when opened

I have installed an app : Birdfield guide in my iPhone 4. But the app is not working after installation. It shows black screen when opened. I need suggestions to make it work or the reasons for not working.

Yes TeeKnows, try deleting it and download it again. After finished installation if still shows black screen delete it out off 'running apps' by double tapping the home button and swipe it off. If still shows black screen then try fully turning off your iPad (holding the sleep button) and turn back on again.
    I hope I helped
    thanks

  • Texts in pdf form don't appear when viewing in Acrobat nor in Reader.

Texts in pdf form don't appear when viewing in Acrobat nor in Reader nor when printed after the form has been filled. But the texts appear when one clicks inside the field. What is the solution to be able to print and view all of the texts in all of the fields that have been typed.

More than likely caused by someone filling out the form with Mac Preview.
    Here's a potential fix: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html

  • Older (tiger) cd photo library shows no pics when opened in iPhoto 11 (Mt. Lion)

older (tiger) cd photo library shows no pics when opened in iPhoto 11 (Mt. Lion) how do i get to view those pics ?...thanx

That library was created by iPhoto via Share ➙ Burn menu, correct?  It's old enough that you may have to drag that library to the desktop and open it with the Finder.  Then drag the subfolders from the Originals folder into your open iPhoto 9 library window to import.

  • Background not rendering when opened in Acrobat 9.4.7 but fine in Reader 9.3.4

The PDF in question was created using InDesign CS5 7.0 and the properties of the file identify the following additions
    PDF Library 9.9
    PDV V1.5 Acrobat 6.x
and Fast Web View is Enabled
The background colour looks to have been added as a layer during the creation of the PDF. When the PDF is opened in Reader, the background displays fine, when opened in Acrobat, the background is not present. The thumbnail in explorer also shows the PDF with the correct background.
Is this a configuration problem at my end with Acrobat?
Any help is very much appreciated!

Is there an outside chance that you do not have view large images turned on? OK, I am taking a stab in the dark, but it is a potential thing to check.

  • CF 8 CFPDF "Merged" document throws 131 Error when opened in Acrobat

We are using CF 8 on Windows Server 2003 platform.
Any CFPDF "Merged" documents are throwing 131 Errors when opened in Acrobat
Tried re-saving the documents on local machine and still same problem. Tried opening in multiple versions of Acrobat, same problem.
Individual documents created are opening without issue. It is Only when these documents are merged that this error occurs.
We do not experience this behavior in our CF 10 environment.
We are a Big, Slow moving enterprise here so not much chance of getting our CF 10 environments promoted to meaningful production use soon.
Found virtually nothing in HelpX and nothing online of any value regarding this issue.
Has anyone else experienced the issue noted in the title of this discussion?
Has anyone a work around or solution?

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • Works when opened in Acrobat 9 but not in IE ?

I'm trying to rewrite a plug-in that reads data from an external system using a COM component and it works just great when opened in Acrobat 9 pro, but when I open the pdf in Internet Explorer (on the same computer) I can see that the plugin is activated OK but all connections to the other system just doesn't return anything.
CoCreateInstanceEx returns OK as if everything is working as planned, no exceptions are thrown .. just nothing?!
Is Acrobat 9 pro somehow sandboxed when inside the IE window or is it because my plugin still isn't signed?
The old plug-in that I am rewriting works in both IE8 and IE6 but with Acrobat 4, so it isn't IE that is limiting the plug-in.
    thanks
    Ulrik

Yes I do write both debug and error messages to a log file.
I did further testing and found that it must be somewhere else the problem is because the object returned by CoCreateInstanceEx works just before the function returns.
What are the differences between running a plug-in in Acrobat 9 inside and outside IE? Like I have to get the AVDoc from a callback (AVDocDidOpen) function because AVAppGetActiveDoc() doesn't work in IE (external window)

  • PDF created in Pages won't open in Acrobat

has anyone had this problem before? did acrobat update and pages just needs to catch up? thoughts?

    Hi Blake,
If it's any help at all, I've noticed big problems when using black and white/grayscale images; they format randomly when opened in Acrobat Reader. The image can still be black and white, but you need to make sure it still uses a colour space like RGB/sRGB/Adobe RGB. Try checking the colour profile of your images in Photoshop, or you can get Automator to assign a colour profile if P'hotoshop isn't available to you.
    I hope that helps.

  • Comment Enabled PDF problem

    Hi all,
We have a huge design jobs which was done in Indesign, Pdf's which we have creted from Indesign will be comment enabled and send it to client for commenting purpose.
    Client Message:
Acrobat would  freeze up when working with certain documents that have a water mark. I just  wanted to note that I am currently working on CL_VanDerbeck, chapter 4, and it  has been happening repeatedly. I have attached the file for  reference.
We have open the file at our end and tried to add comments on the watermark part as they mentioned, there were no issues at our end. We are able to add comments on the watermark and other areas.
What will be the problem since this question was raised by our customer second time. Is anyone came across these type of issue.
    Kavya

Give them three more copies of the file. One with no comments or watermark. One with comments, but no watermark, one with watermark and no comments. Do they have problems with all three?

  • Keyboard short-cuts and comment-enabled PDF's

I'm running AR7.0.9 under SuSE 10.1 and I have the following problem when working with a comment-enabled document, such as the JavaScript reference manual. Once I've used the highlighting tool, whose keyboard short-cut is U, I find that I can no longer enter the letter U when composing a note. Similarly, once I've added an attachment, whose keyboard short-cut is J,
I can no longer enter J into a note. Is this a known problem?
Or is there something wrong with my setup?

  • Document not showing properly when opening in Acrobat 9 Pro

When I create a document in InDesign and export it as a PDF, I want to see what it looks like as the PDF. One of the documents that I opened does not look as it should. It only has the photo on the ad but is missing the red background and the words on the ad. As a thumbnail, it looks correct. But, it is not showing up correctly when I open it in Acrobat. Some of the other ads are fine but this one in particular is not showing me all the elements. What do I do to fix this?

Yes, I have the most current version of AA9. I exported the document from InDesign using the PDF exporter. That is what I have used for years and it has worked fine. I just installed CS4 yesterday.
I think I realized what the problem is but I don't know how to fix it properly. I actually went back to the preferences in AA9 to the document color options in accessibility and changed it back to its original state (which, I believe, is where nothing is checked). I had originally changed it because I was trying to experiment with the background of the program. It's black and when I open a PDF, I can't see the black border. But I mistakenly changed the document color. Which brings me to the question of: how do you change the background color of the page so that I can see the black border on the document? I sell advertising so I need to be sure that when people send me their ads, they have black borders. And I can't tell when it has the background behind the document so dark. Acrobat Reader has a white background.
Additionally, can I still install the latest Acrobat Reader and use that instead of AA9 if I want to? It seems easier.

  • How do you create a PDF that shows up on the opening of an e-mail

I use to be abel to create a PDF that I could drag onto the desktop of an email and it would show up as part of the e-mail when opened as well as an attatchement. Is there an actual procedure for creating one or is it random?  Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't?

There is no procedure. Whether it shows up or not is purely dependent on the receivers email application and their preferences.
As always, I suggest if you want to do something like that, you should create an HTML email. There's a bit more control although it isn't foolproof either.

  • PDF form data not visible when opened in Illustrator CS5

I've been searching the forums but have been unable to find an answer to my specific problem.
I've created a form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The PDF form fields are then populated with data via Netsuite. When I open the PDF (with data) in Acrobat all of the information shows up, however when I open the PDF in Illustrator CS5 the field data is not visible. Is there a way to force the data to be visible when opened in Illustrator?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You could try first flattenening the fields. This converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript, PDF Optimizer, or a Preflight fixup.
