Comment & Mark up tools

I have just started using Acrobat X Pro and  I want to embed a file into the main part of the document as I used to with Ver 7 . I have been looking for the Review & Comment/ Comment & Mark up Tools/ Attach File as Comment set of commands but cannot find them. Cannot find then in the View/Tools either. I would be grateful for help.
Regards.

In Acrobat 10, select: Comment > Annotations > Attach File
This is not a menu item, but in the pane on the right side.

  • Comments/Mark Up Not Showing

I was e-mailed a PDF with the Comments/Mark Up function enabled so I could edit it, but when I downloaded and opened it the Tools drop-down menu was not showing it as enabled. I know others have been sent the same file enabled in the same way and have had no problem. I got partly round this by upgrading from Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X, which has the Highlight/Sticky Note functions as standard and accessible by everyone, but unfortunately the Text Edit tool is still out of reach. Any ideas why Comments/Mark Up is being blocked in my case?

Thanks for sharing the screenshot John.
However, from what I can see from the PDF properties, I can see that the Commenting is indeed allowed on the PDF.
However, the PDF does not have the Extended Rights enabled. This is what is causing the Edit Text tool to not be displayed/enabled for you. Once the PDF is reader enabled, you will be able to see those options (as detailed at: http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2011/09/17/acrobatreader-x-how-to-enable-the-typewriter-to ol/).
You will have to ask the initiator to resend the file post enabling the Reader Extended features. Instructions on as to how to go about it are detailed at: http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2011/09/10/adobe-reader-fill-out-a-pdf-form-or-type-text-o n-a-pdf-file-using-adobe-reader/

  • How can I use a ranged comment marker to quickly define in and out range?

    Hi,
I'm using several parts of a single clip, and they have overlapping in and out points. As I'll need to go back and grab them multiple times, I've defined these ranges by using a comment marker, then giving them a range by setting the in and out point in the marker panel.
What I want to do is using this defined comment marker range, right click/double click/clap twice or something that will allow a shortcut to set this marker range as an in and out range so that I can put it into my sequence's timeline.
I'm happy if I can skip the in and out all together and drag the marker to the timeline - but I tried this from the Marker panel, and it didn't work.
If this functionality doesn't exist, I'm going to have to just set a marker for every in and out point, and that's just busywork and confusing as it's not clear what's the in and the out when your'e in the middle of all the markers.
Thanks for any and all help

Premiere does not have a feature that automatically converts a marker's In/Out to function as clip In/Out points. I recommend saving a subclip for each segment of interest. The subclip becomes a new instance of the clip in the project panel, which you can give a descriptive name.
If you give this a try--and if you're using Premiere Pro CC--take a little time to learn about the "Restrict Trims to Subclip Boundaries" option, which controls whether a subclip is "hard" or "soft." http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/create-soft-subclips-with-flexible-edit-po ints/

  • Adding interactive buttons in Acrobat X Standard disables the Commenting and markup tools

Why does adding interactive buttons to PDFs in Acrobat X Standard disable the Commenting and markup tools in the PDFs, but only when they are viewed in the Reader, not when opened in Acrobat?  When the buttons are removed, the Commenting and markup tools are re-enabled in Reader.
    Thank you.

Which version of Reader are you testing with?

    Hi,
    please follow these steps:
    - You have to enable ReaderRights (on ADS configuration using VisualAdmin)
    - The PDF must be static and NOT dynamic
    Then it works.
    Take care,
    Thomas

  • Comment Marker Drag Flicker

New issue in the CC 2014 release.
When I drag a marker (the default Comment Marker kind), the Program monitor flickers between the frame at the CTI and the frame that the marker is at.
Honestly, it's pretty jarring and could cause seizures to unexpecting epileptics. Besides that, not such a huge problem. Just a weird bug that ever-so-slightly reduces the usability of the software.
The project is GPU Accelerated, and I'm on Windows 7.
Can anyone else reproduce this problem? Or has anyone else seen this?

    Hi TeeKay,
Yes, I'm seeing it. Let's file a bug on that: http://adobe.ly/ReportBug
    Thanks,

  • Enabling comments/mark-up

I need to enable commenting and mark-up in Reader 8.0. I need to be able to use the More Tools drop-down menu. I use Jaws To PDF softrware for writing PDF's. Autodesk's Design Review is not ready for prime time and from what I see that is available with "Commenting and Mark-up" it's what would work for us here, but I can't figure out how to enable the functions. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO THIS?
    Thank you

You can add this feature to your PDF documents with Adobe Acrobat Professional or the server product Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES.

  • How to construct an "URL-address" to open Adobe Reader XI at certain Comment/Mark-Up?

    Hello.
I have set up Adobe Reader XI as pdf-Viewer in Google Chrome, so that when applying a certain URL in my HTML-code, it will bring up the pdf-document at the right spot and view.
However, I'm frequently using the Adobe Reader XI for marking up datasheets etc., so that important places are easily accessible, and would of course like to be able to point these spots out, as well.
    Unfortunately, the guide
    - https://www.google.dk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB8QFjA A&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.adobe.c…
is quite old... and years before the Comment tools were introduced...
    Thus:
    - Has anybody here any experience in constructing URL-links, that can "reach" a certain Comment or other Mar-up from the Adobe Reader XI documents?
    Thanks.
    Best regards - Jesper.

It should be noted that Chrome does not use Adobe Reader by default, it uses its own viewer. This viewer does seem to implement some of the open parameters.
Comments have been around MUCH longer than open options, and there are no new open options so far as I know. You can link to pages or named destinations. A named destination is not, as many people assume a synonym for something else like "bookmark" but something quite specific.

  • Did anybody know about the OMR(Optical mark reader) tools.

I have to read a image file using OMR(Optical mark reader).Did any third party tools for java r available in market? Plz help me....

    Hi Karsten,
Some of my experience with stills is discussed here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2331300&tstart=120
This mainly covers the "freeze frame" problem with loss of colour and definition/brightness. I use the "video adjustments" tool to match the still with the original video frame.
Like you, I'm generally happy with the quality of stills obtained from iMovie '09. Other than "freeze frames" I import stills from the Events into iPhoto for enhancement/adjustment then either prepare slideshows in iPhoto or re-import to iMovie for slideshow preparation etc.
None of this is probably that relevant to your question, but it gives me an excuse to ask you - what happened to your Mac Mini, or have you turned to the dark side?
Incidentally, thanks for all your invaluable help over a lengthy period - keep up the good work!

  • Remove comments from highlight tool

Hi, getting frustrated at the annoying comment pop ups that I get every time I use the highlight tool.  Occasionally I want a comment, but 99% of hte time I just want to highlight the text. Is there some way I can turn the automatic comment box off so the highlighter doesn't do this?
    thanks in advance

OK, I've still got the same thing happening.  I've changed the preferences, but it still doing the same thing.  I've tried quitting Acrobat and re-starting and re-opening the document, but it's still the same, I highlight text, and a comment box opens.  The thing that's different now is that the highlighted text isn't in the comment box, but it's opening a comment box.  any more ideas???

  • Commenting Enabled but Tools no longer appear from the menus!

A major problem with the Commenting function has appeared.
It seems like it MIGHT be related to some Adobe updates that were just pushed through by our company.
I enabled a PDF for commenting with Acrobat Professional and sent it out for email review.
The receivers see in the document properties that it is enabled for commenting, but they cannot access the commenting toolbar.
This happened both with Reader 8 and 9.
I could not find the toolbar either.  There was nothing under the View > Toolbars menu or the Tools menu that would activate it.
We have been using this function for a long time and depend on it, but it has suddenly disappeared.

  • Exchange Connector Analyst Comments marked with "IsNull"

    Hi
Has there been any update to the issue with the exchange connector where analyst comments that get added via the exchange connector are marked as null as this obviously causes problems with subscriptions with any true or false values.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Switch to SCUtils Email Connector and that's all.
    Cheers,

  • Scrolling page whilst using mark up tool ??

In acrobat 6 whilst I was using the polygon fill or rectangle tools, I could use my mouse wheel to scroll and zoom.
In acrobat 9 pro, when i am using any tools, i can't scroll or zoom. I have to move the mouse to the edge of the page to scroll which is painfully slow.
How do i change this back to how Acrobat 6 used to work?
    Cheers

    I can't believe this hasn't been answered.

  • Restoring missing Comment and Markup Tools

After installing Acrobat 9 to a new computer, the tools have disappeared. Repair and un/reinstalling aren't solving the problem. Does anyone have a miracle cure? Many thanks!

To go along with George's Answer if you have acrobat X or XI:
Note: This is the Mac version of this Pannel. But the PC version should be laid out the same though not necessarily look the same.
