Comment Pane in acrobat x

Hi There
I'm using Acrobat x pro.
I'm enabling the comment extension for acrobat reader for a specific PDF so my client will be able to add comments when using the acrobat reader x
My questions are -
1. Can I make the acrobat reader open up with the Comment pane open as a default? So the user will know it's there every time the user opens the file?
2. Can I disable the "tools" and "share" panes so only the comment pane is visible?
3. Can I Have a button that displays the comment pane in case it's not possible? The only action I found was to display the comment toolbar and not the comment pane...
Thanks a lot!
Guy

#1 - If you want to open-up Comment pane as default for your reviewer, use Shared Reivew ('Send for Shared Review').

  • How to increase width of comment pane in Acrobat X

In Acrobat 9 the comment pane showed up at bottom of the page and it spread across the whole width of the page and could be as high as you wanted it to be. This made reading my comments easy.
But in Acrobat X the comment pane can not  expand its width, this is not very useful and it is hard to search notes by scanning them.
How to expand the comment pane? I would prefer to change its location as well.

You can't change the width of the panel, but you can undock the Comments
List section (at least you can in Acrobat XI, I'm not sure about X), via
    the Options button in it.

  • Opening Reader 11 with Comment Pane open on the right.

    Hi,
I would like to set my Reader in a way that for any PDF that I open it opens the Comment Pane on the right to be displayed...  Right now it opens with the Tools pane open on the right... I looked over Preferance, Properties, views all over and I could not find anything that pinpoints how to set the view to the way I want the PDF opens when I open one...

  • Executing item in "extended/comment pane" for Reader X - javascript

Is it possible to execute an item in the extended/comment pane via javascript? Those options show for extended forms and Reader X users...just trying to figure a way to execute or show those items via javascript.  Thanks

After getting a list via app.execMenuItem I am getting an anomoly...I open Adobe Acrobat Pro X and execute the menu item javascript, it returns a large "basic" list,  however when I manually browse to VIEW > COMMENT > ANNOTATIONS then run the app.execMenuItem javascript again the list changes a bit, an added entry "Comment_Annotations" appears. I run that via javascript and the comments pane appears...NICE but this does not work without first manually activating the function..
Any thoughts on this? Why does the menu item list grow when manually visiting VIEW ......
app.execMenuItem ("Comment_Annotations"); any idea on getting this to work with some other "activating" javascript?

  • How can I increase the font size in the Comment pane?

In the commenting preferences, I can specify different fonts and font sizes. However, it seems like those settings only affect the text that appears in the popups. How can I increase the size of the font in the Comment pane itself? It is so tiny, it's hard to read. I use Acrobat's Comment pane features extensively to reply to my reviewers' comments, and increasing the font size would help reduce eye strain.

Unfortunately you can't but starting in Acrobat XI, you can at least undock the Comment List and expand the window.

  • Crashes when accessing copy from Comments pane

Using Acrobat 11.0 on a Mac laptop running OSX 10.9.4, when I try to copy text in the Comments pane, it crashes. I just upgraded from previous operating system thinking this was the problem, but it still occurs. I see that on my desktop, my version of Acrobat is 11.0.7, and when I see if there is an update on Creative Cloud for this laptop, it says my Acrobat is up to date. Not sure if this might be the problem.

You should check OS X logs and Windows client logs to have a better understanding of what happened.

  • Mouse Scroll Wheel Broken in Commenting Pane

    Hello,
In Acrobat XI Pro, the mouse scroll wheel does not work for me in the Comments List area of the Comment pane. I've read other posts where users are reporting the same problem. This worked in Acrobat X.
I'm a technical writer and frequently get upwards of 50 comments in a PDF that I need to scroll through. It is a huge time waster to use the arrow keys or move my mouse to click. Adobe, is there a fix for this problem? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I've tried two different mice.
    Thanks!
    Justin

Found the problem.  For years the mouse portion of my xorg.conf said
    protocol    PS/2
... as noted previously, that always worked, including scroll wheel usage.  But a little hunting turned up the advice to change it to IMPS/2 and now it works again.  For the record, the complete entry now says:
    Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier    "Maus"
        Driver        "mouse"
        Option        "Protocol" "ImPS/2"
        Option        "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option        "CorePointer"
        Option        "Buttons"    "5"
        Option        "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
    EndSection

  • Enable Commenting & Measuring in Acrobat 10 and 11

What does the "measuring" refer to in File | Save As Other | Reader Extended PDF | Enable Commenting & Measuring in Acrobat 11? (BTW, it was Comments | Enable for Commenting
and Analysis in Adobe Reader in Acrobat 9. The path was similar to 11 in version 10, but not identical.) I add this for others who are trying to find what new path to follow in 11. I had to go to Google to find it, and that was for 10. Thanks adobe.com support.

    Hi Regina Engelken,
If you are specifically looking for information about measuring tool, Please refer this Link- Tips & Techniques: Measuring in Adobe Acrobat
I have also found a video Tutorial that depicts the usage of measuring tool :
The navigation path you mentioned ( File | Save As Other | Reader Extended PDF | Enable Commenting & Measuring in Acrobat 11) enables the Commenting and Measuring features for Users who are using Adobe Reader instead of Acrobat.
I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have any other query or need any assistance.

  • Commenting features slowing Acrobat 9.0.3 to a crawl

I was wrong in my previous thread about Adobe Updater being the culprit for the horrendous slowdowns in Acrobat Pro 9.0.2.  Updater.acroplugin is not the problem.
Apparently, the commenting feature of Acrobat is what grinds it to a halt. If I disable any one of the plugins required for the comments option to show up in the menu bar (AcroForm.acroplugin, WebLink.acroplugin, EFS.acroplugin, and possibly others), Acrobat becomes excruciatingly slow.
Does anyone know of a way to make the commenting feature of Acrobat move faster? It takes about 30 seconds for it to respond to any click or movement of the mouse.

    OH. MY GOSH. IT'S FIXED!!
I have spend the past 2 hrs on the phone with Adobe and Apple tech support. Adobe had me try creating a brand new user account and opening Acrobat. It opened fine with commenting enabled. So that seemed to indicate that the problem was somewhere in my User library.
So after trying various things that didn't fix it, including deleting the entire preferences folder, and starting in safe mode (hold down shift while rebooting until you see the grey apple, then wait 10-15 minutes for it to load).
Finally, he had me pull this folder out and move it to the desktop:
HD: userfolder: homefolder: library: application support: adobe: acrobat
After that, like magic, it works at full speed again.
He warned that he has no idea what Adobe might need that folder for, so you shouldn't trash it completely, but leave it on the desktop until you know for sure.
I'm happy once again! I hope this solves your problem too.

  • How to Enable Comments in Adobe Acrobat Professional?

    Hai Pals,
Am doing one desktop application for Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 in Java. Am in need to enable the comment option in Acrobat. I have idea to do this requirement through some other Third Party Scripts. Even i done that by script means, i want to do the interaction between the script and my application in JAVA. So, The better way i chosen was creating the entire application by JAVA. I have found some information by Google. There is some package to access the Adobe called adobe-utilities.jar. By using the package we can access the adobe application. Can someone guide me to develop my application module?

Thanks For your Response. I got some idea through Google. I think it's possible with adobe lifecycle. But i have'nt any idea about that. I have found that some JAR like adobe-utilities.jar,j2ee.jar has some facilities to do the existing operations with a JAVA code. Is there any other technology like Scripting, StartupScripts or etc.,..

  • Have the right Comment pane be the default instead of the Tools pane

I'm cross posting this from my other post, found here. Since I don't think the Quick Tools bar can be customized in Reader XI, my main question is:
Can you change which "pane" is selected on the right side when Reader XI is launched?
I'm not 100% sure if pane is the right term, but when you open Reader XI, Tools, Sign, and Comment are shown on the right side. Later, if you open a PDF, Extended is also shown. Right now, Tools is always open when you open a PDF, or open Reader XI. If I can't customize the Quick Tools, at least I should be able to tell Reader which right-side pane to default to when Reader is opened, shouldn't I?
Again, searching the Preference Reference doesn't turn up anything definitive. A few entries looked slightly promising, bcommentPanelOnImport being one of them, but no matter the combination, Tools always defaults when Reader is opened.
    So, to get more specific,
Can I have the Comment pane open by default when Reader XI is launched, as opposed to the Tools pane?
    Thanks again in advance.

Can you please post some screenshots ?
Also have you tried to test by rotating the text frame ?
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Crash when opening tools or comments pane.

I have a mac OS X 10.8.3 and adobe reader 11.0.02 and when I open a file and try to use the tools or comments pane, Adobe Reader crashes!
    Any solution?

    photocompany,
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).
Here is a website where you can see whether it can rescue the file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
    and another similar website,
    http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-fi le-recovery/
As far as I remember, the former is for Win and the latter for Mac.

  • Keyboard Shortcut for Comments Pane

    Hi,
Discussion topic says it all - is there a shortcut for the "comments" pane? Searched the forums; didn't see a post for that, so if this a double post, just let me know!
    Thanks,
    Jon

    Jon
Not that I know of but you can make your own keyboard shortcuts for anything that is in a menu somewhere:
+System Preferences > Hardware > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts > Application Keyboard Shortcuts > All Applications > click the little plus sign under the window > Application: > Other > browse to Applications/iWork/Pages > Menu Title > Show Comments (type exactly including U&lc) > hit cmd shift c (or whatever you want)+
Since the shortcut works on the literal text, it will not toggle on and off. You will have to have another shortcut for +Hide Comments.+
