Comments and edits cause "insufficient data"

My co-workers and I use text edits and 'sticky notes' in Acrobat quite a lot. Some of us have started to run into an issue. After adding a few comments, and a few text edits, the document will go blank, and the error "Insufficient data for image" appears. The sticky notes are still there, but not the image. You cannot save the pdf with the comments. You're forced to close without saving, and then re-open the PDF and re-create all the sticky notes again.
Does anyone have any light to shed on this? At first I thought it was a disconnecting issue--the PDFs live on our server--but it happens even when the computer is hardwired into the network. We're losing valuable time and causing tons of frustration.
We're all using Macs running 10.8.2, and our Acrobat versions are 9.5.2.

Are these PDFs that have been received via e-mail ?
In doing the research on this error, it seems that there isn'nt any commonality except that these are PDFs being received either from the web or via e-mail. In one case the fella solved it my realizing that the image was 24/bit but had been saved as 8/bit (not sure if that was a source problem or transfer issue). But that might have been a one off solution.
A lot of users were complaining about this problem after receiving a PDF via e-mail. Sending PDFs through e-mail wthout using an archive format such as "zip/WinRAR" can be problematic as some e-mail servers/clients assume that the PDF is text and munge it.
Is this one user using the same e-mail client with the exact same settings as everyone else ?

Feature request: better tools for commenting and editing text

We currently use a comments-enabled Acrobat workflow with InDesign to track changes to our large catalog project. Was hoping to move our team over to CS Live, but currently the commenting tools are sub-par, and not accurate enough for extensive text editing. My request would be to imitate the text editing functionality of Acrobat:
In CS Live online:
- allow users to be able to copy selected text. (This is useful when a reviewer wants to be able to modify a sentence or paragraph. It's a headache now to have to retype the sentence prior to making modifications)
- Ability to highlight text and hit "delete" to mark text as deleted, or highlight and type over to indicate replaced text
- Ability to click to insert text, and have the comment appear with the inserted text designation (little blue carat like in Acrobat)
- ability to highlight a section of text
In InDesign:
- ability to copy the text in a comment and NOT copy all the other extraneous meta data. (Currently, if you click "copy text", it will copy the comment along with all the details about the comment. For example, "- Amy Stewart [10.06.11 at 12:56 PM]"
- ability to see in InDesign the EXACT part of the text that needs to be modified. Right now, the red box outlines the general area. The CS Review panel shows a tiny thumbnail with black highlight over the area of text that needs to be changed, but unfortunately, there's no way to zoom in on it, so you're stuck having to toggle between InDesign and the online review, where it's possible to zoom. (This diminishes the utility of the CS Review panel.)
If you were able to incoroprate all the commenting functionality of Acrobat, I think you'll have a winner. But right now, we're going to have to stick with Acrobat as it's the only way to easily modify text.

Sorry if I might be stating the obvious (but at least I was such a *dummy* once that I needed this explicitely):
In order to move the sequence of images per drag&drop in grid view you need to
Put the sort order in the bottom toolbar to "user order" (toggle visibility with letter T if not displayed)
Grab an image from within its thumbnail, not from its border-cell.
When you move around you see a vertical black thick line wandering in between images where you would be able to drop it
Put the images first into a collection in case they should be spread across multiple folders.
This is the reason why most often from a filter result you cannot re-arrange.
Still sometimes it does not work as I want, but can *be persuaded*, i.e. I repeat the same trial after first moving to another collection, then return back. I can't nail it down sufficiently to file a bug.
For an automated sorting according to filename (chosse that setting finally in toolbar) you could rename the photos in place, without exporting & re-importing. Just select them and hit <F2> to bring up the renaming dialog like possible during import.
+1 vote from me, as I am neither satisfied with the responsiveness of moving folders within LR e.g. from laptop hard disk to NAS.
Apart from that I try not to build much on my folder structure, just break them into manageable quantities and have a quick "diary-overview" by using naming convention "YYYY-MM-DD description of event" (pictures of up to 4 cameras go inside, unique filenames for Canons achieved by renaming during import). For all the rest I prefer to build (smart) collections.

We are using ABC pdf to generate pdf reports in our website and then a mail sending routine executes and mail those reports to our clients. Some times when user recieves the mails then he is not able to see the reports properly using adobe reader X and it shows "Insufficient data for an image" error. These reports are multiple page reports. Although reports saved at our end are genreted properly and we are able to open them proeperly. So is there any work around for this?
Please let me know in case of any query.

I checked out the link, that is the exact error I get when I open the file. I tried the suggested Work Arounds. Changing the zoom does not make the problem go away. Optimizing the file and then saving it, and then opening the newly saved file does not fix it either. Thanks for your time. , though.
This file opens fine in earlier versions of Acrobat, no problem.

Ping and editing and double quotes

Couple of issues using the Ping to comment and send email.
1) It appears that using double quotes in either a comment on a Ping invite or a Recent Activity Item appears to cause problems. When referencing other songs/album/content I tend to quote them in the recent activity item comment and this causes an error.
2) Not sure exactly how this happens, but a couple of times I have managed to delete my whole comment. It seems to occur when deleting in the middle of paragraph of text. Anyway, when this occurs the undo does not seem to work.
Anybody notice these behaviors?

Insufficient data for an image error. We have Adobe Acrobat 11.0.10. Happens when edit pdf.

We are all updated on the Adobe Acrobat XI standard version 11.0.10. However, when we delete a page, extract a page, or even add a page we get the insufficient data error message and the PDF is deemed worthless. Looking over different forums, it seems that this has been an issue for many years although we have only encountered it recently.
What is being done about this error? Our company uses adobe for all our printing uses and we need to be able to edit PDF's.

This message only comes up when editing.
I've been trying to recreate different scenarios and it seems that it is constantly happening when I delete a page and try to save the PDF. After deleting a page, when I try to save I get this:
When I try to close out it lets me save but then viewing the PDF I get this:
When this happens, we are missing signatures or chunks of texts above the signatures, or even whole pages of text.
We have never had this issue before and we do edit PDF's all the time.

Here's how to do ALV (OO) with dynamic fcat, int table and editable data

Here's a more useful approach to ALV grid with OO using dynamic table, data NOT from DDIC, dynamic FCAT and how to get changed lines from the grid when ENTER key is pressed.
It's really not too dificult but I think this is more useful than the ever present SFLIGHT methods from the demos.
This also defines a subclass of cl_gui_alv_grid so you can access the protected attributes / methods of that class.
You don't need to add the class via SE24 -- done fron this ABAP.
When you run it click Edit for the first time.
After editing data press ENTER and the break point should bring you into the relevant method.
Code developed on NW2004S trial version but also works on rel 6.40 on a "Real" system.
The code should work without any changes on any system >=6.40.
All you need to do is to create a blank screen 100 via SE51 with a custom container on it called CCONTAINER1.
The rest of the code can just be uploaded into your system using the SE38 upload facility.
When running the program click on the EDIT button to enable the edit functionality of the grid.
Change your data and when you press ENTER you should get the break-point where you can see the original table and changed rows.
This program is actually quite general as it covers Dynamic tables, building a dynamic fcat where your table fields are NOT in the DDIC, intercepting the ENTER key via using an event, and accessing the protected attributes of the cl_gui_alv_grid by defining a subclass of this class in the abap.
I've seen various questions relating to all these functions but none in my view ever answers the questions in a simple manner. I hope this simple program will answer all these and show how using OO ALV is actually quite easy and people shouldn't be scared of using OO.

I would like to know is it possible to update my excel sheet having 10 different fields (Columns) to share point, and edit them as a list. Want to know step by step procedure.
My requirement is as below
I want to update the list of activities for each member of my team, in a excel in the first 5 columns and then upload to the share point daily, as my team members were placed in different locations, I want them to update their achivements
for the day in the next 5 respctive columns. By filtering on their names respectively. So that I can check online and take the report back to excel whenevery i required.
I want to know
1) Step by step procedure I can upload the excel to share point
2) is it possible to restrict the data on particular field, to respective users.

Excel and SharePoint List does not allow two way sync it is only unidirectional.
You have to go by Scott's suggestions or else Office Web Apps which will allow excel Semiformal co-authoring (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/document-collaboration-and-co-authoring-HA101812148.aspx).
Here is how you can use the import Excel funcationality in SharePoint custom list.
1. Define a table to your Excel Data and Save the excel file
2. Go to your site, create a new list either using Site Settings or All site content menu, by selecting Import SpreedSheet
3. select table in the import dialog box
SharePoint will create a new list with the excel data.
As per your requirement , the challenges that we have are -

You cannot reimport excel to a list as per your above requirement, there is only one way of importing to a list library and every time it will create a new list.

You can use item level permission for restricting user access to a list item or use SharePoint designer custom workflow to give item level access.

You can blur it out with retouch
The built-in "Retouch" brush in "Edit" mode should suffice, if the background is mostly uniform, and if you set the size of the brush to slightly wider than the bar width of the letters. For example, in this picture I removed the year from the date (in the lower right corner) by using the "retouch" brush and following the contours of the letters. (the screen shot is from iPhoto '11, but iPhoto 9 should give similar results).

TS3579 I found this useful because I did not know about the effect of typing in data and that you could only drag to rearrange the data. I had typed in data before and this had caused problems but restoring defaults did not cause correct dates to show up

I found this (TS3579: If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac Learn about If the wrong date or time is displayed in some apps on your Mac) useful because I did not know about the effect of typing in data and that you could only drag to rearrange the data. I had typed in data before and this had caused problems but restoring defaults did not cause correct dates to show up in Finder.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here. First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance. Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error. If you get an error, post the error message your hitting. If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect. If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog. Ex: "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name. However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format. Ex: COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install. Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

Error opening PDF in 9.1.0 ("Insufficient Data for image") and 7.0.9

I generate PDF documents in code (basically converts TIFF images to PDF, using FOP).
Few of the PDFs can not be viewed on Adobe Reader 9.1.0, and 7.0.9. But, these open fine on 8.0 version.
With 9.1.0 version I get error as "Insufficient Data for image"
With 7.0.9 the error is "A drawing error occured"
8.0 works fine and opens the PDF.
Is there any issue with 9.1.0 for opening PDFs, I got this version installed recently on my system.
Appreciate an early help/views on this issue.

Try this - from adobe support!
It worked for me and (as it seems) solved a one year long anoying issue.
1. Exit Acrobat.
2. Choose Start > Run, and type: %APPDATA%\Adobe\Acrobat\ into the Open text box. Click OK.
3. Right-click either the 6.0 or 7.0 folder, and choose Delete.
I deleted both folders.

In a FORM search box that i have data saved, how can I go and see what is saved and edit it? Sometimes when I'm doing maintenance it all gets deleted and I would like to be able to see what I have saved before it gets deleted.

Insufficient data sent error in Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X

I have an issue that is happening with several users that I support. It is only happening in a specific program that they use. When they open PDFs, they get the message insufficient data sent and then a blank document opens. I noticed that this seemed to be an issue a couple years ago, but it was apparently solved with recent releases of Adobe reader. I have installed and set up Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Reader X, but the results are the same and very intermittent. It can happen when trying to open a document and then not happen 10 seconds later on the same doc. The company that provides the online program blames Adobe. Where do I proceeed from here?

Firefox 3.6.* and earlier set the downloaded file's modification time to the current time. In Firefox 4.0 the behavior has been changed, if a server returns a timestamp telling when the file was last modified (Last-Modified header), it is used instead.
You can revert to the previous behaviour by using the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/93121/ Download Timestamp] add-on.
