Comments - appearing on blog but upon opening iWeb no comment are shown

I am unable to edit/delete my comments because they are not appearing on iWeb when I open it on my computer. However, the comments are appearing on the blog. For instance, on my most recent entry there are 4 comments but when I open iWeb on my MacBook Pro it shows no comments. Weird? Any ideas?

Answered my own question - apparently it was a glitch and when I published a new blog entry the old comments appeared. Just a glitch I guess.

Bummer! Try this: repeat the fixes and once the domain file seems to be working make a duplicate of it. Then download BatChmod and run it on the duplicate domain file with the settings shown below:

Open the duplicate domain file and run with it. See if it reverts back to the bad behavior. Can't think of anything else.

Sounds like you have Highlite Hot and Cold Areas set. See the View menu

It looks that the update wasn't successful because your "More system details" list still shows a Firefox 3.5.7 version.
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

There could be a 32 bit vs 64 bit issues-is the old machine a 32 bit? and what is the new machine as far as 32/64 bit. I am not sure now if CS5 has in the help menu of the PS app the selection to update within PS if so that might work. I know that the Creative cloud app for installs updates etc has caused me much consternation over the last couple few years. Last it could be something like your Software firewall settings or anti-virus anti malware programs. Underlying images appear for a moment upon opening pdf or page turn.

Hi, when I export from indesign to pdf, then open the pdf, a graphic layered behind the top graphic on the first page appears first; so instead of seeing the cover of the book, the reader sees one of the layers first, for a second or two, then the top layer appears. Is there a way to 'flatten' pdf content so this doesn't happen? It also happens on page turn, as it takes a moment for the front-most graphic to appear, and in the meantime reveals the one below it.

Everytime you change the page Acrobat needs to redraw all of the page elements. The dealy is probably a reflection of the amount off video memory available, as much as anything.

Upon opening iWeb the pages in the program are blank. Any fixes?

When I open up iweb to update it all the pages are white and blank. The site its self looks fine on the web. Anyone else ever have this problem?

In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Final Cut Studio crashing upon opening whenever external drives are active

Hello folks,
I've gotten some great advice on this forum for a while now, through reading other posts. But now I'm hoping I can get some directly tailored advice, as I'm floundering a bit. Thanks in advance for your time, as I've tried to be as thorough as possible in my description of the problems and as-yet failed attempts at solutions.
The project is a full length documentary, and I'm having repeated, regular problems with Final Cut 6.0.5 crashing when I try to open the application.
Now, here are some of the details. FCP will open just fine, if the external hard drives that contain all the media for the project are NOT turned on. However, if the drives are turned on, Final Cut will begin to open, the white box with the application name, registration information, and whatnot will begin, and it will freeze up, hanging there until I force quit. When I force quit, and look at the report, the only information I can get out of it is that the cause is "hanging", though as I'm no expert on reading crash reports, I'm sure I'm missing a lot.
Once I force quit, FCP will not entirely quit. It remains "open", in that I can't open the application again, and my FCP icon in the dock has the little white dot next to it (I'm OS 10.5.6). However, if I eject the drives (which I am sometimes allowed to do, other times I'm told that the drives are still in use by an application), then FCP does resolve its force-quit, and is entirely quit. I can reopen it again immediately afterward with no problem, assuming I haven't turned the drives back on. If I'm not able to eject the drives, then I have to restart.
My workaround so far has been to open FCP without the drives being active, turn on the drives, and then open the project file I want. This works, but seems to be evidence of some serious problems. If I'm opening FCP, and I have the user preference of "open last project upon launch" switched off, why would the hard drives affect FCP? Is FCP trying to read the drives even though it doesn't need any media from them to open in a brand-new project file?
Other issues that have arisen are occasional freezes while in FCP. I will have FCP open (using the workaround), playing fine, and suddenly a click somewhere in the timeline will lead to the spinning beachball. This happens most frequently if I am quickly changing clips, or if I have just brought another application to the foreground and then gone back to FCP. When this happens, and I force quit, once again FCP does not entirely quit, but has to have all the drives ejected to fully quit.
About the drives themselves - I am using 4 GTech 1 TB drives, all of which spin up normally, though two of them are now over 2 years old.
About the software - I reinstalled FCP, and the problems existed beforehand and afterwards. I may do it again.
About the operating system - I archived and installed Leopard, I did not back everything up and zero the drive before installing Leopard.
About the project files - All project files are under 75 MB, most are much smaller. Since it is a long-form piece with over 200 hours at this point, I've been creating multiple projects.
About the render files - I've flushed them repeatedly.
About corrupt files - I've looked through my capture bins and trashed any suspiciously small QuickTime files.
About FCP preferences - I've used FCS Remover a couple times, and the problem reappears.
About permissions - I've repaired permissions repeatedly, and the problem reappears.
About the rest of the system - Compressor won't allow me to submit batches, but from what I understand that is an issue with Apple QMaster. Also, the problems with FCP were there before Compressor was not working. I just today had a problem with System Preferences crashing once it opened, but after deleting the plist for System Preferences it seems to be back up and running fine.

2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
6 GB memory
667 MHz processor speed
FCP 6.0.5

Thanks for your input on this. I went through several steps, including most of the ones you recommended, and came upon what seems to be the problem (knock on wood).
My editing setup is one MacPro, 4 G-Raid drives, and one Sony DSR-11 digital video deck. After clearing up more space the G-Raid drives to bring them to about 10% free space, things seemed to be running smoother - there were less crashes within FCP. However, I was still getting crashes on opening FCP, at the same "splash screen" point (after all the AE Effects and Video Effects had loaded).
Running Disk Utility on all drives showed no problems, and unfortunately I don't have DiskWarrior (though that may be an upcoming purchase).
It wasn't until I went through your suggestion of starting FCP with the individual drives connected that I got somewhere. FCP would start up fine with one or even two drives connected, but not with three or four. Doing a little research on that brought me to two threads on Creative Cow about G-Raid drives and daisy-chaining:

Once I put two of the drives onto the rear FireWire800 port, and two of the drives into the front FireWire800 port, with the DSR-11 still in the back FireWire 400 port, my problems disappeared. Huzzah! The G-Raid folks recommend no more than three FireWire devices connected at a time, and lightening the load on the FireWire port by uncoupling the four-drive long daisy-chain has immediately helped. Now, I'll keep an eye on it, and may potentially buy a PCI card if something goes wonky again, but I am very happy to have gotten things up and running again. Cheers!

Import appears to work but when choose STOP, no thumbnails are generated

I've been using iMovie 08 to import with Canopus 55 as converter from VHS deck. Yesterday it worked fine and i left my MacBook Pro on overnght. This morning I can choose IMPORT, I've tried adding to existing EVENT and creating new event and the import screen displays the input video but when I hit STOP, the video isn't importing. I have seen the THUMBNAILs being generated screen taking several minutes for a 15 sec clip and no thumbnails appear. OR I hit STOP and the import screen goes blue with STOPPED on it, but no thumbnails are generated. If I need to clear iMovie pref, I don't remember how. Thanks alot.

Do you know what version of flash you were upgrading from? I want to try to reproduce this.
In the meantime, if you really need the flash right now, I would suggest downloading google chrome browser. It comes with its own package of flash and should work despite it not working with your safari.

Tap the Bookmark/Favorites Icon; select Favorites; tap on "edit" at the bottom right side of the drop down; tap the red circle with white line and tap delete for each favorite you don't want. Then you should be able to add your favorites in English, or whatever language you want. Hope this helps.

You have to upload your site to a server first before this will work - won't work in iWeb directly or when publishing to a local folder.

FCP 7.0.2 crashes upon opening

I have just bought FCP Studio and fully installed without any problems. But upon opening FCP it loads and then crashes "FCP Quit Unexpectedly". I didn't remove an older version on my system before installing but it appears to have automatically replaced it. I have since trashed the preferences files as advised on a similar post. I have also repaired all disc permissions and downloaded the latest updates. So I'm £700+ down without working software... Appreciate any advice. thx.

are you trying to open up an old project or start a new one? do you have any old plugins from a previous version?
FWIW, my habit when installing FCP on a work machine is to
1. backup drive entirely first (using carbon copy cloner)
2. clean install os (wiping drive) and bring it up to date, transferring users etc NOT Apps from migration assistant.
3. install FCP and other software and bring up to date.
4. bring back any folders, files from backup drive.
at stages 2 & 3 I run disk permission repair (or YASU) regularly.
I also only upgrade when there is a definite need for my business.
This may seem overly cautious and time consuming to many, but I have 3 solid reliable systems which I depend on for income. Spending a day once every year or so to do this has seemed like a small cost in the end

Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Site Not Appearing When I Open iWeb 09

When I open iWeb 09 my web site usually appears. Now the application opens but the site does not. The inspector apears but nothing else. Under File I cannot open a new page or new site. Under library/application support/iweb the file named Domain is there. If I try to open that the same thing occurs.
Just before this started happening I would be able to open my site and on my blog page the main page opens and looks fine but the page with the individuals blogs as well as the archive page were blank. The program crashed a couple of times and now nothing appears as I have noted above.
If you have any thoughts on what is happening or has happened and what I can do about it please respond. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. Deleting the preferences file worked. Now I get my site back, however the problem with the blog remains.
I have the blog as a second site in iweb. It has been working fine as I have been creating it (haven't published this yet) but now only the Blog page is visible. The Entries page and the Archive page are blank white. When I went to try to publish it just now it came back with an error and unable to publish.
Any thoughts on this remaining concern? Thanks.
