Comments Function Question

Hi All,
When I add a comment, the program opens the pane and my text is highlighted yellow. That's fine. However, when I close the comments pane, the text doesn't indicate it's commented. Is there something I'm missing or is that part of the "functionality" of the program.
Thanks!
Jon

This is how it works. I've not viewed this as a problem but I can see where one might pass on a commented document and the receiver not know it is commented. If you look under the Pages menu at the far left of the menubar, you'll find a feedback option. Apple does listen to our feedback and if enough people ask for some visual feedback even when the comments column is closed it might appear in a new version (it is unlikely to appear in an update to this version).

Is it possible to activate the highlight and comment function in Adobe Reader 9. An online help line suggests that this is possible. Is this for a different version of Reader?

It is possible, but it requires that the file be given certain rights in advance in Acrobat. With later versions these rights became obsolete and Reader can add highlights and sticky notes even without them.

    Hi Experts,
I need to ask some questions to customer on SD & FI functional related questions for BI Analytical reports..
Already cutomer implemented Data ware house Informatica with congnos reporting tool.

    Hi,
    A few more pointers.
Start with Reports. What the client is using. What he is expecting.
If he got existing reports map the fields with Business Content BW Fields. Go to Business content and make a list of queries which are delivered from SAP. Explain them the KPI's. This should be good to start with. Also check the Tcodes they use.
Look for DataSources that get data from theses Tcode's.
Project Preparation (Initial stuff -- Do a conceptual review after this phase requirements gathering)
Collect requirement thru interviews with Business teams /Core users / Information Leaders.
Study & analyze KPI's (key figures) of Business process.
    Identify the measurement criteria's (Characteristics).
Understand the Drill down requirements if any.
Understand the Business process data flow if any.
Identify the needs for data staging layers in BW – (i. e need for ODS if any)
    Understand the system landscape.
Prepare Final Requirements Documents in the form of Functional Specifications containing:
Report Owners, Data flow, KPI's, measurement criteria's, Report format along with drilldown requirements.
    Hope this helps.

  • Commenting functionality not available when I open a pdf in air application

commenting functionality not available when I open a pdf in
air application. Adobe documentation says that is expected with
adobe air 1.0 but I still have the same problem even if I use the
    latest air runtime

    Back up all data.
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
I've seen an unconfirmed report that the "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you might need to remove it as well, if applicable.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Comment Function Solution

At least for one scenario using iWeb v08 and hosting with Apple...
I was a dotmac user. I had a unique domain name for my blog, that forwarded to the dotmac blog address. I added the comment function following the transition to mobileme, but was puzzled because I never got any comments (even though readers had requested the comment feature). Yesterday I found out users were getting an error message and went digging for an answer, which turned out to be absurdly simple, but annoying.
The whole problem came down to using "...mac.com" in the domain forwarding address. If a reader was redirected using the mac.com address, comments don't work. As soon as I edited the domain redirect address to "...me.com", voila, comments work.
Hope this helps. Would be interesting to know how many other iWeb issues this mechanism might be related to...
    Mark

Mark ~ Good to hear you found the solution. These forums' Search Bar and Apple's Search Support page are under-used:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search
...at that page, this document can easily be found:

  • Commenting functionality for blog pages

Does anybody have any information as to when/how Apple might be planning to address a horrible oversight in an otherwise solid 1.0 release... NO COMMENTS!
Is a blog really a blog without commenting functionality? I realize I could publish to a folder and then tweak the code to add a third party service like Haloscan, but that kind of defeats the "one-click" appeal of iWeb. I am still surprised to see that this software made it out the door without some implementation of a commenting solution.
I would be happy with either an Apple proprietary system via a future update OR the ability to insert snippets of code right in the iWeb workspace from third party commenting services. Either way, currently my blog is just a series of static articles without the communal discussion aspect that commenting provides. It's very frustrating when you look at all the other blogging options out there, and nearly every single one allows for comments.
Apple, please don't make us wait until 2007 and another $99 Family Pack to address this crucial oversight! Otherwise, I really love this software. I'm rebuilding my own blog and site with it

A hack has been worked out using Javascript, and it works very well. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1609160#1609160

  • Sumifs function question

Hi, Everyone, I have a function question of Sumifs, here a sample as follows,
=SUMIFS(Budget :: E4:E14,Budget :: C4:C14,"=5003677000",Budget :: B4:B14,OR("=Transit","=Drawing cash")), according to the logic, I think like this, but it's wrong. So how to insert the OR function to the Sumifs function? May someone find the mistake in the function?
    Thank you.
    Alex

I think you would actually do a sum of simifs, i.e. Sumif(....."Transit") + Sumif(....."Drawing Cash")
Basically if you have two sumifs that differ in only one condition that would be treated like an OR in SQL, then make one Sumif for each unique set of  conditions and add them up

  • OIC: Functional Question(11.5.10)

    Hi All,
I would like to know answer for the following functional question in Oracle 11.5.10 Incentive Compensation Application(OIC). I would greatly appreciate if you anyone can reply for this.
    1. Question on Foreign currency exchange rates:
We know that OIC cannot handle foreign currency exchange rates. Since all of our offer letters to the Sales guys are in local currency what we end up doing is picking an exchange rate on July 1st every year and converting them to US $. What I’m wondering is why couldn’t we just set them up in OIC in their local currency, without converting them?
Is that possible? OIC can handle this?
    2. In OIC, Can I enter a DUMMY Acoount Executive (since we are not going to credit any single person in the Primary Account Executive role) that bookings could be credited to in order to ensure they roll up to the appropriate manager?
    a) Is that possible?
    b) Does this DUMMY Acoount Executive should be part of the HR Employee setups as well?, In OIC should we need to load the transaction for DUMMY Account
Executive so that credit will get rolled up to approriate managers based on the Group hiearchy setups?
    Thanks,
    Johnson

    Yes

You do not need to set up the dummy resource as employee. All you need is to create as OTHER type of resource and add that resource to group.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to enable Comment functionality in Design Studio

    Hi Experts,
How can we enable comment functionality in Design studio? This is important for users:
    a) To enter comments in the application
    b) To see the comments after reopening the application again. This means, it needs to be stored somewhere.
This application is built on top of a BEx Query.
    Really appreciate your help here!!
    Thanks,
    Jomy

Hi Jomy - I see your point
Looking at Figure 7 here Lumira and Design Studio Updates Roadmap from ASUG Annual Conference - Part 2 it is not going to be built in Design Studio
So my opinion only here -  either you buy CubeServ add-on or you build SDK yourself.  As an accountant I would do cost-benefit - how long (cost) would it take for someone other than CubeServ to do it versus buying from CubeServ.
    Maybe others have ideas?

  • Incremental updates on collections/full schedule - Functional question

    Hi everyone,
At a customer of mine we have the following set-up:
Almost all applications are deployed User Based
Collections are used for targetting the applications
Incremental updates are enabled on practically all collections which deploy applications
For the moment this setup is active for 498 collections (out of 714  collections).
Since it's not advised and Microsoft recommends to only have incremental updates active for 200 collections, I would like to change this setup by means of POSH. I have just finished writing it, but I still have a functional question:
Which schedule time would be best to activate for the collections? Keep the standard value to update collection every 7 days?
When would you activate "incremental updates"? Device collections with required software for faster deployment time?
I only foresee the following "downside":
We have a lot of applications who are available to "all domain users". When the AD-account is created, it will sync with SCCM and will receive their deployements. But by changing the update schedule to, let's say, 7 days.. They wouldn't be able
to see and install these applications if the collections haven't been updated yet?
Thanks for the insight with your experience!
    Kr,
    Sven

Wow Jörgen, thanks for this information! This was something I haven't read about. Will keep this in mind.
In your blog, you mention that you use this tool to keep track of performance issues. When do you feel that there are too many collections which have incremental updates enabled (by using the tool)?
The last weeks/months, we have a lot of issues during OSD. We have collections to which the TS is deployed.
In orchestrator we have a runbook to add workstations to SCCM + add workstation to collection + update membership of collection. But the update takes from 5 minutes to 40 minutes.. So this is the main issue that we have..
@Andrew: Thanks for your contribution! I believe you are speaking of "Global Conditions"? I haven't used it either, but I thought that this had some downsides.. For instance, we target most of the applications "Used Based" (since MS is
moving to user centric deployment). So if I target the application to the "all users" collection and create a "global condition" to only install when user is a member of a specific AD-group (for instance: Skype), then the user still sees
"skype" in the application catalog and will have an error upon installing it when he is not a member of the skype AD-group.
Maybe this is completely wrong what I'm saying.. Just did some brainstorming with collegues but haven't found the time to play with it in a test environment. @Jörgen: Please enlighten us if I'm wrong.

  • Comment function lost.

My client was not able to make comment no more on the file I send last week, it work before and it didn't work now. I alway enable the make comment function when I send file, this is not the issue, he is able to download the file, though. Pls help.

Go to the file you want to share and click the Share button. In the Share dialog make sure the Allow Comments box is checked.
If you have already done this and making a comment is still not allowed let me know. If you want to test that the feature is working save the Share url and try the Share url in a second browser where you are not signed in (or sign out of the browser you are in).

  • Nikon in camera comment function. Not showing in Aperture

I can't find any reference to this question already having been asked/answered. So, sorry if it's a FAQ. I use Nikon D70s and D200 and import files into Aperture. No problems. Except, the in camera comment I have attached via the camera menu i.e. "2006 Alan Shearer" does not appear in the meta-data in aperture?
Has anyone experienced this? Is it just too bad, doesnt' work with Aperture, but works with Nikon software?

If your trouble persists after you restart your iMac, you can troubleshoot your problem using http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
        • If the problem is not related to your user account, the correct "reset" often restores
normal function.  If the reset does NOT remedy your problem, continue with the
          following.
        • Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then download and apply
the latest Combo Update for your OS: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676
       • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
          that completes the Combo update.
Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  For hardware help, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • General feedback, comments and questions

Background: Written many web applications over the years (Java [cocoon, struts, home-grown frameworks], ISAPI, cgi-bin), and also worked with RAD tools like Delphi doing client/server apps. Consequently, JSF looks very interesting to me, especially when you consider .NET and Web Forms. Here are my comments/questions:
    -     The name Request Events is confusing. Should be UI State Change Events or something.
    -     Why isn't there a subclass of FacesEvent for Request Events?
    -     Are there any standard events that all components respond to? (i.e page lifecycle events)
    -     Is there anyway to explicitly state that a component responds to specific types of events (like the way Validators tell you what types of attributes they respond to)? What Id like to see is the ability to generate an Events tab in the development tool, like most modern RAD environments.
    -     In order to take advantage of a central dispatching mechanism (ApplicationHandler), it would make sense for all pages to flow through the FacesServlet. Is there a pass-through mechanism that doesnt require a response tree, or would this just be some type of application event? In other words, how does FacesServlet process requests that arent mapped to a component tree?
    -     Can you give us an idea about how the model references will work, and what the standard way for the application handler (and its delegates) will get a handle to a model reference will be? (i.e. session parameter).
    -     Why use UIParameters instead of attributes?
    -     I understand that grid and table display functionality is handled by standard Renderers. I still think that JSF needs to have a more complete standard suite of components as well, including grid and table components that can be bound directly to collections and ResultSets. (I know this isnt EJB-friendly, but in reality many servlet-based applications dont use EJB). Just requiring a UIPanel alone and the appropriate Renderers isnt enough. I think that in order for JSF to be successful, it must have at least the standard components that .NET does.
    -     This is a minor detail, but shouldnt there be a simple addMessage(Message message) method on the FacesContext instead of requiring you to send in null?
    -     You should be able to declaratively associate an ApplicationHandler you shouldnt have to add a ServletContextListener to do this.
    -     You should be able to specify a RenderKit for an entire application declaratively. This brings up the question of whether or not an application-wide context is needed (or if the JSF implementation should just subclass ServletContext).
    -     You should also be able to specify the RenderKit for a given session as well as a specific Tree.
    -     Currently, I dont see any support for modifying the render kit in the JSP implementation. Shouldnt this be an attribute of the <faces:usefaces> tag?
    -     Im worried about the performance implications of this design for more complex user interfaces with many controls on a given page. Ive seen others raise this concern as well, especially when you consider the overhead of copying component values, and constantly traversing the component tree. I recognize that there are a lot of places where object pooling can be used (Renderers, the components themselves, LifeCycle objects, etc.), but does anyone have any specific comments on how this can be achieved with minimal overhead, especially when you consider that a given application may have filters and additional logic in the ApplicationHandler (that may in turn talk to the EIS tier).
Im glad to see that for events, encoding, and decoding, you can either handle it directly in the component or delegate it to the proper handler (either a RequestEventHandler or a Renderer). This addresses the fact that in-house controls will likely be bound to a specific client device (at least originally).
In general, I think this is a great move forward, and its one thing that weve been lacking for a while (there have been many non-Sun efforts on this front for a while, but we really need a standard if Java is going to remain the preferred platform for rapidly building web apps).

In regards to my third point:
    - Is there anyway to explicitly state that a component responds to specific types of events (like the way Validators tell you what types of attributes they respond to)? What Id like to see is the ability to generate an Events tab in the development tool, like most modern RAD environments.
I just realized that this is handled implicitly by the fact that all UIComponents are JavaBeans. JavaBeans supports this via EventSetDescriptors. This is what happens when you haven't worked with any GUI tool kits (like Swing) for years :-). It'll be nice to see this functionality in the servlet world.

  • Performance issue and functional question regarding updates on tables

A person at my site wrote some code to update a custom field on the MARC table that was being copied from the MARA table.  Here is what I would have expected to see as the code.  Assume that both sets of code have a parameter called p_werks which is the plant in question.
    data : commit_count type i.
select matnr zfield from mara into (wa_marc-matnr, wa_marc-zfield).
update marc set zfield = wa_marc-zfield
         where werks = p_werks and matnr = wa_matnr.
      commit work and wait.
    endselect.
I would have committed every 200 rows instead of every one row, but here's the actual code and my question isn't around the commits but something else.  In this case an internal table was built with two elements - MATNR and WERKS - could have done that above too, but that's not my question.
                DO.

                    matnr     = wa_marc-matnr
                    werks     = wa_marc-werks.
              ENDIF.
Here's the question - why did this person enqueue and dequeue explicit locks like this ?  They claimed it was to prevent issues - what issues ???  Is there something special about updating tables that we don't know about ?  We've actually seen it where the system runs out of these ENQUEUE locks.
Before you all go off the deep end and ask why not just do the update, keep in mind that you don't want to update a million + rows and then do a commit either - that locks up the entire table!

The ENQUEUE lock insure that another program called by another user will not update the data at the same time, so preventing database coherence to be lost. In fact, another user on a SAP correct transaction, has read the record and locked it, so when it will be updated your modifications will be lost, also you could override modifications made by another user in another luw.
You cannot use a COMMIT WORK in a SELECT - ENDSELECT, because COMMIT WORK will close each and every opened database cursor, so your first idea would dump after the first update. (so the internal table is mandatory)
Go through some documentation like [Updates in the R/3 System (BC-CST-UP)|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/BCCSTUP/BCCSTUP_PT.pdf]
