Comments made in iTunes don't display on iPod

This may be due to a lack of understanding on my part, but I find that if I add text to the comments section of an MP3 in iTunes, when I sync with my iPod the comment doesn't display - why could that be?

Nothing daft about the question - revealed another feature I'd yet to discover. Follow-up answer... What's being displayed is the Description field - many podcasts set the comment to the first 255(?) characters of the description. As far as I can tell iTunes provides no way to edit the description field. Even if you can set the field via a third party tool there's no guarantee that the iPod will process it for non-podcast items.

Update - I've found both TV shows & music files with "descriptions" but neither show on the iPod.

Computer AND iTunes don't recognize my iPod touch.  Comp thinks it is a camera or something.  iTunes won't bring up devices at all.  I've already uninstalled iTunes and QT and reinstalled after problem that happened when I updated iTunes - updated iTunes completely demolished my computer's ability to recognize the sound card and computer had NO sound at all.  I had to uninstall iTunes, QT, AND my sound card and reinstall them all.  Sound worked fine, but now I can't sync my iPod.  Computer recognizes that "something" is hooked up (thinks it might possibly be a camera) and I get that "open with" window.  In "my computer" it shows that there is an "iPod" connected, but it is pictured as a camera.  In iTunes my username is no longer appearing (although account info is there) and NO devices whatsoever get listed.  There is nothing wrong with my USB ports or cable.  And of course Apple won't help anyone unless you pay them to. ... I am getting beyond P/Oed!!!  You pay hundreds for a product and all you get are headaches with their stupid bug infested software and no support at all.
Can anyone out there help me clean up this unbelievable mess Apple and iTunes has created in my computer?
    Thank you.

After three completely wasted days trying to figure all of this out I finally got it fixed - on my own - by reading dozens and dozens of rogue posts in indie forums from people that refuse to dish out money to have a company TRY and advise possible fixes on their own glitches.
(here's a novel idea - fix the glitches Apple.  Or - don't send out updates filled with bugs in the first place)
Everything (several applications) had to be uninstalled in a very specific order and then restarted , then it all had to be verified with manual deletions of leftovers, and emptying the recycle bin, then another restart, then iT had to be reinstalled again and the system restarted again, and two more update downloads. Holy!!!
I love my little iPod touch, but I honestly must say, when this kind of thing happens (and it has several times now when I try to deal with iTunes or Apple), it makes me want to flush it down the toilet.

I tried everything, works in the beginning but after flipping through a few stations the playing now button doesn't work, all other buttons are fine though. You guys having this issue as well?

Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?
Sounds like you did not try thee instructions:
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

  • Photos don't display on Ipod - blank boxes, scrambled

    I have a 60gb ipod color photo.
On the Ipod, I used to be able to display my photos perfectly, but now when I go to the photos all that shows up in their places are blank boxes that when I click on turn to a scramble screen. It doesn't freeze, just shows the box in the place of the photo, and the scramble screen in the place of the selected photo. This is a problem that occured over time. What happened and where do I go from here?

Did you duplicate the existing book or create a new empty book and add the same photos?
Have you tried rebuilding your library as follows: make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Apps listed in iTunes don't install on iPod touch 4G

I have several apps I've downloaded from the iTunes Store, but even after syncing the iPod touch, those apps aren't installed. They still show up in the Apps Library in iTunes, but not on the touch. All of those apps were listed as being compatible with an iPod touch, but are they not being installed because they're not really compatible, or for some other reason? I have iOS 4.3.1 installed

Since I received your message I explored further into iTunes and discovered some other screens that display what's installed on my iPod. The apps that weren't installed were not checked in the list of apps. However, the box that says something about automatically installing all new apps was checked which was why I've not had trouble getting apps to install in the past. Now I know where to look.

  • Music videos don't display on ipod

I have all my music videos on itunes but they won't go on my ipod nano 5g after synciing several times.

Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Music tab.  Make sure it is set up to include those videos in your music syncing.  In particular, the checkbox that says Include music videos needs to be checked.
If you get an error message, it may because the videos are "HD," which is too high resolution for most iPods.  If you can get the "SD" version of the video, they should sync to your nano.  If they were purchased from the iTunes Store and you downloaded the HD version, you should be able to get the SD version at no additional cost.

  • Names changed in itunes don't update on iPod Touch

I have a brand new 32 gb iPod touch which won't hold all of my music. I checked the convert to 128 kbps AAC so that I can get the whole collection on. The problem is I was cleaning up the names of some of my ripped music and I had a band that was listed twice on the iPod because there was a different spelling in the name from two different albums. Even after manually fixing the artists they still appear differently on the Touch.
I know that the 128 aac versions are completely separate from the original music but could this be why the albums are not updating? Is there a way to force the sync so the changes show up (whether my guess at the 128 aac is correct or not)?

I don't know if you have fixed this yet, but the thread isn't marked as answered. Music names won't change on your iPod if you are manually managing your music.

When I made my Itunes account, I didn't type in a rescue email address. Now, whenever I try to buy music, it says that "since this is the first time buying music on this computer, you must enter the answers to your security questions". But, first, I've always bought music on this computer. Second, I can't remember the answers to my security questions. But I can't reset them, because I don't have a rescue email address. What do I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.

  • ITunes no longer displays CDs after latest install

I've seen similar older questions, but  I haven't seen an answer that works yet.
I Just installed latest iTunes SW (12.1.x?) on 2/28/15.  Now iTunes does not display (or ask to display/import) a CD when I insert one (or have one inserted).  (My preferences are still set to ask to import a CD when inserted.)  iTunes has the same issue with both of my drives.  Windows Media Player can play CDs from either drive just fine - so its not a problem with the drives.  When I run iTunes diagnostics, iTunes recognizes my drives and gives them both  'green' status... however - they still don't show up in iTunes (when CDs are in them).  iTunes seems to be working fine other than this.  (I'm able to sync to my devices, play songs, etc.)
There's an articles I found on trying to repair 'missing drives' (iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install - …)  And I tried the steps here even though its not exactly the same issue.  (I removed than 'reinstalled' the latest Gear driver; I verified I don't have either of the  afs.sy, afs2k.sys conflicting drivers.)
    I'm running Windows-7 64-bit.
I have not tried to uninstall/reinstall iTunes... [yet].
    Anyone having the same issue?

Thank you so much for your responses.  I greatly appreciate it.  I wish Apple was as responsive as you.  I also wish it was easier to find out how to actually file a bug report with them.
My first PC was back in the 80's.  I made sure to have a 5.25" floppy drive since 3.5" was still new.  It was a fancy PC back then, with the 3.5" on my A: drive and 5.25" on B:....   Styling.  The PC I run iTunes on now is about 4-5 years old, (about 25 years newer than my first one) and has up-to-date BIOS, Windows 7, etc.  I built it myself with whatever was pretty much top-of-the-line at the time.
I don't doubt that even Windows 7 still has some ancient A;/B: drive issues lurking about.  I was nervous about that when I changed my optical drive letters to use them a month ago.  No other software, including Windows Media Player, had any issue, so there didn't seem to be a problem.  I feel like I'd ripped a CD into iTunes since I changed the drive letters, but I must not have.  Unfortunately I updated iTunes right before trying to import a new CD I just bought, which led me to believe the update was bad... especially after seeing several 'similar' issues from other users who updated to iTunes 12.1.1.4 (including your original comment).  I suppose my bad, for not fully checking out using the old reserved drive letters when I changed them.
I still consider this an Apple iTunes bug (even though I'm sure there's plenty of blame to share with Windows).  Since ALL my other software is fine with the drive letters there's no reason iTunes - as big as it is - shouldn't also be.  AND there's no reason iTunes shouldn't warn about this when Run Diagnostics is run from iTunes.  Run Diagnostics DOES recognize the A:/B: drives, but does NOT report any error on it.  This would have been no issue at all if their diagnostics software identified that iTunes still has an issue with the historic drive letters instead of just reporting that everything is OK.
Hopefully Apple browses through these forums.  I 'think' I found a place to report the BUG to them last night, but they don't make it easy to find that through their contact pages that kept bringing me back to the phone number web page.  (Sorry for the rant... I'm just frustrated cause I wasted so much time on this, and even more time on my previous issue with iTunes stealing some music from me that I had purchased and saying i didn't own it any more even though I still have all the receipts... I'm really about to give up Apple completely - I already moved to Amazon for digital downloads due to Apple's music theft.)
Anyway I'll consider this issue closed when Apple fixes it (either by accepting the old reserved drive letters, or by updating their Run Diagnostics)... in the meantime, I have an easy, though undesirable, workaround in using alternate drive letters.
Again.  Thank you for your help.  Your responses helped push me to find the real issue and a workaround.  I truly appreciate it.
