Comments/Mark Up Not Showing

I was e-mailed a PDF with the Comments/Mark Up function enabled so I could edit it, but when I downloaded and opened it the Tools drop-down menu was not showing it as enabled. I know others have been sent the same file enabled in the same way and have had no problem. I got partly round this by upgrading from Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X, which has the Highlight/Sticky Note functions as standard and accessible by everyone, but unfortunately the Text Edit tool is still out of reach. Any ideas why Comments/Mark Up is being blocked in my case?

Thanks for sharing the screenshot John.
However, from what I can see from the PDF properties, I can see that the Commenting is indeed allowed on the PDF.
However, the PDF does not have the Extended Rights enabled. This is what is causing the Edit Text tool to not be displayed/enabled for you. Once the PDF is reader enabled, you will be able to see those options (as detailed at: http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2011/09/17/acrobatreader-x-how-to-enable-the-typewriter-to ol/).
You will have to ask the initiator to resend the file post enabling the Reader Extended features. Instructions on as to how to go about it are detailed at: http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2011/09/10/adobe-reader-fill-out-a-pdf-form-or-type-text-o n-a-pdf-file-using-adobe-reader/

  • Marker shape not showing up in DVT line graph

    Hi,
    I am facing an issue where the Marker Shape is not getting displayed in DVT Line graph. In the graph there is only one series, in which diamond markers should appear at the data points.
    I am using Jdev 11.1.1.7.0.
    Below is the expected result and the result which i am actually getting. Although the data set is different, the diamonds which we see in the first graph are not appearing in the second one(my output).
    My code snippet for the line graph is as below:
    <dvt:lineGraph id="lineGraph1"
                           value="#{bindings.VarianceGraphVO1.graphModel}"
                           subType="LINE_VERT_ABS" shortDesc="Variance Graph">
              <dvt:graphTitle text="Schedule Variance"/>
              <dvt:y1Title id="y1Title1" text="Variance % Days"/>
              <dvt:o1Title id="o1Title1" text="Cemli"/>
              <dvt:background>
                <dvt:specialEffects/>
              </dvt:background>
              <dvt:graphPlotArea/>
              <dvt:seriesSet defaultLineWidth="3">
                <dvt:series markerShape="MS_DIAMOND" markerType="MT_MARKER"
                            lineWidth="2"/>
                <dvt:series/>
              </dvt:seriesSet>
              <dvt:o1Axis rendered="false"/>
              <dvt:y1Axis/>
              <dvt:legendArea automaticPlacement="AP_NEVER"/>
            </dvt:lineGraph>
    Even though the marker shape property is mentioned it is some how not reflecting in my result. Even other types of marker shapes like square, circle, up/down arrow are not working.
    Request you to help me fix this issue.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards,
    Tejas

    Try to set seriesSet  defaultMarkerShape="MS_CIRCLE" and markerDisplayed="true" like:
    <dvt:seriesSet defaultMarkerShape="MS_CIRCLE" markerDisplayed="true">
           <dvt:series/>
    </dvt:seriesSet>

  • Nikon in camera comment function. Not showing in Aperture

    I can't find any reference to this question already having been asked/answered. So, sorry if it's a FAQ. I use Nikon D70s and D200 and import files into Aperture. No problems. Except, the in camera comment I have attached via the camera menu i.e. "2006 Alan Shearer" does not appear in the meta-data in aperture?
    Has anyone experienced this? Is it just too bad, doesnt' work with Aperture, but works with Nikon software?

    If your trouble persists after you restart your iMac, you can troubleshoot your problem using http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
        • If the problem is not related to your user account, the correct "reset" often restores
          normal function.  If the reset does NOT remedy your problem, continue with the
          following.
        • Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then download and apply
           the latest Combo Update for your OS: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1676
       • Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart
          that completes the Combo update.
    Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  For hardware help, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
    (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

  • Why aren't he comments on PDFs not showing up when placed in Indesign?

    I'm placing some PDFs in an Indesign file (They are surveys, so they all have annotated answers in red on the PDF ) And none of the answers are showing up.
    Its not a display problem since they won't show up when you export or print the pages.
    Any ideas on what is going on?
    Thank you !

    Take a look at DTP tools plugin called Annotations

  • Finder not showing file comments

    I have my Finder window customized to show Kind, Size, Date Added, and Comments for all my files. The issue is that the Comments column does not show any info even though the file itself contains that information in its metadata. This info is visable by certain applications such as iTunes and Traktor. The files I am working with specifically are mp3. Why

    Very strange!
    It should be safe to remove the file. As for the icons being gone, click on Finder in your dock, then go to the "Finder" menu, right next to the  in your menubar. Select "Preferences..." In the window that appears, make sure the boxes are checked that refer to the icons that should show on your desktop.
    If that doesn't fix it, try creating a new user account on your Mac.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
    Log into that account and see if icons show up on your desktop. If so, there might be a problem with the preferences and settings files in your original user account.
    Let us know if that helps!

  • Check mark not showing after importing in Image Capture

    The check marks will show right after importing photos to a hard drive in Image Capture. However, after unplugging my iPhone and plugging it back in to import new photos, the check marks are not showing up for the photos I have already imported. One way I was successful at getting the check marks to show was to select another folder to import to and then select the folders that contain the imported images.

    CDs don't contain artwork, you can either add the artwork manually or (if the album is available in the iTunes store) you can have iTunes download it automatically from there. You'll get information on both methods at this link: <<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/8.0/en/15298.html" >iTunes for Mac - Adding artwork to songs and other items

  • PDF comments showing/not showing inconsistently

    One of my coworkers has Acrobat 9 for Mac. 95% of all commented PDF’s show up fine on her Mac but every so often she gets a PDF where the comments just do not show up.
    If I open the same PDF on my Mac the comments show fine but she still cannot see them. If I resave the file on my Mac then the comments will show.
    It doesn’t happen with every PDF though, it's inconsistent.
    I was thinking of reinstalling Acrobat 9 on her Mac
    We are moving to an all PDF workflow soon so we need to find out what could be causing this. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Allen

    We have checked the preferences and they match mine and I can see the comments. It is just strange that it is so intermittent.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Comment box not showing up

    I just published my entire iweb site to a folder so that i could export it to a wordpress site. Then I went back to publish another blog post via mobileme and the comment box does not show up.  I updated all of my software, tried to recreate the post agian and republish it and did a new "test" post, which came up with no comment box as well. I would love to hear if anyone has any suggestions... Or am I just at the end of the line with iweb?
    http://www.playfulearning.com/Playful_Learning/Blog/Entries/2012/3/6_Mama_Time__ A_Cart_of_One%E2%80%99s_Own.html
    Thank you...

    The comments feature does not work if hosted on a server other than MMe:
    Features Unavailable When Publishing to a 3rd Party Server:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two feature will be broken.
    So if you want to have user comments with your blog you'll need to use a 3rd party commenting system like Discover your community - DISQUS, IntenseDebate  or Echo - Products.
    Another option is to conver your iWeb blog to a Wordpress blog with Rage Software's iWeb to WordPress for Mac OS X. Or start a new blog at one of the established blogging sites and embed it into your iWeb page like in this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page

  • Finder not showing previews of Canon 5D Mark II raw files?

    I've updated to Mac OS 10.5.7 but the Finder is still not showing the previews of Canon 5D Mark II raw files.
    This is on a Mac Mini with 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    (Interestingly, I have another Mac Mini with 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4, running Mac OS 10.4.11, and the Finder does show previews of the Canon 5D Mark II raw files...)
    Thanks!

    Adobe support is generally unreliable.  You should install the latest version of ACR, 5.6.  It's easy to make a mistake with the manual installation instructions.  See this FAQ for troubleshooting:

  • Pages 5 doc not showing comments when exported to Word

    I'm using Pages 5 and I like it, but am having a problem. When I try to export a Pages document with comments into Word format, the file looks good on my Mac using Quick View. I can see the comments. It also looks fine when I open it with Pages, the comments still show. But when I email it to someone using Windows, the document does not show any of the comments, not even the highlighting.
    I never had any problem with this using the previous version of Pages, where documents exported to Word format and the comments were visible.
    I have resorted to copy/pasting my comments, then saving as a PDF, which works, but is sort of clumsy. Is there a better way to do this with Pages 5?

    Thanks for the additional helpful information, Fruhulda. I didn't realize that they had removed important features in the so-called upgrade.
    It sounds as if Pages 5 will work for fast and easy tasks, but Pages 09 will be good to have for heavy-duty work. I guess this explains why Pages 5 didn't overwrite Pages 09 on installation. They are really two different apps now.

  • Comments link not showing

    My comments link isn't showing on "Amanda's Blog" where it says "read more... 0 comments"? It does show in iWeb, but not on the published website? It's working fine on "Jon's Blog"?

    first, give the feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html (ask them what's the hold up? I'd done it... long ago)
    second, here is the proof... my javascript is linked to my page: http://home.cyclosaurus.com/Welcome.html
    you only see it in Safari Activity window, you will not see any GA code in my page source.
    the box is boxed you in, so you need to think out of the box.

  • Comment View of Acrobat not showing the details of annotations

    Hi,
    We have one application in which Acrobat(8.0) is embedded in IE(7.0) Browser. And when we create annotations in the PDF file, the comment view of Acrobat is not showing any detail of it. It looks to me that, details of annotations are coming in the comment view but it is not visible.
    This problems is specific to IE 7.0 and Acrobat 8.0. Because it is working fine with IE 6.0.
    Any Idea why this problem is coming with IE7.0 ?
    Regards,
    Arvind

    Hi Leonard,
