Comments Missing/Opaque Boxes

After upgrading to 6, my comments are missing. This was my principle way of sorting by subject name. The idea of rewriting comments for 28,000 photos is daunting. Usually, Iphoto5 crashed while I was naming and when I got it back on, the comments were not visible but I could still sort. Now I can't. Should I be going with Aperture for this many photos? Is the crashing an issue with that program?
Also, I must have corrupted files. In six, they appear as gray boxes with dotted lines. When I scroll to that area, the program slows down and doesn't allow me to deal with the files. I tried rebuilding my library and even the helpers at Applecare didn't seem to know what else to do.

Ugg. Not sure about the comments. When I moved from 5 to 6 it worked pretty good, but the import function kept crashing - I manually moved over my photos. If you have your original '5' files, you might want to wipe the contents of the iphoto6 library directory, manually drag over a few files and test that. It worked great for me, and iPhoto rebuilt the files it needed. If it works to drag over a couple pictures (and you still have your comments), then just drag the rest over instead of importing.
Supposedly 28k photos is ok, but that is a lot of photos. You might want to consider breaking that up into multiple libraries based on some logical content. you can have as many libraries as you want, and you just hold down the option key when you launch iphoto to select which one you want.

Missing check box & Red, Green minimise buttons

hey all ,
After upgrading my Macbook Pro to the latest version my "red green amber buttons " are missing along with all checkbox's and borders to all system buttons.
I thought this look pretty cool at first and thought it was part of the new system, however i soon noticed I couldn't see any checkboxes or borders on buttons and now it's a massive pain. (13-inch, Mid 2009 2.53 for 2 duo)
any sugestions ?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Can't comment-sign in box keeps reapearing

when i try to comment on something on itunes, the sign in box comes up and when i put in my username and password it does it again. i put my info in again, and the same thing happens. what happened?!!?

Resizing Comment or Text Boxes in Acrobat X

Is anyone else having a problem finding corner "handles" when resizing text boxes or comment boxes in Acrobat X?
Whenever I need to resize a text or comment box I have to spend quite a bit of time hunting for just the right place to get the cursor to change into the resizing handle, and it's typically some distance away from the position of the actual corner (or side) of the box.
Is it everyone else, just Mac Acrobat X users, or just me?

In acrobat X when you use text box, you simply get the typewriter function, rathe rthan a text box.
To actually get the text box, you have to actually escape the etxtbox function then go to the select option and then (with great difficuly try to resize or move it). The problem is that some bright spark thought that combiining the typewriter function and the text box function would be a great idea. It is not.

Help: Iphoto 6 photos missing, gray box with exclaimation point

Hi all. I am a terrible manager of my 14K photos. My husband said my system could not process updates because I have so little hard drive space, so I went on this massive effort to purge photos I did not need. I thought I was being virtous by going to the pictures folder from finder, finding the album, and deleting there, but now I have learned that I actually need to delete from the iphoto library. Now, when I go into i photo, there are a lot of big empty gray boxes with an exclaimation point, including for photos I know I did not delete (I can still see the thumbnail in some cases). I am using i photo 6 and would hate to lose these pictures. We have an external hard drive and I was in the process of moving some of the files and videos. Can someone help? I am also wondering what the best way to clean up my library is. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help! I live abroad and so can't go into an Apple store for help. Thanks!

That's an indicagtion the the file path to the original image files has been broken. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Missing Check Box in the Sales Order form

Hi guys and gals. I am faced with a very strange problem. Actually when we create a sales order, in the Account Assignment tab we have a column which asks for Account Type. There we would be having a dropdown/combo box along with a checkbox 'more'. but i am unable to view this dropdown box. some how this field is missing. so what do i need to do to retain that dropdown box.

Is there a way to suppress the "dll missing message box" when OraOLEDBpus11.dll is missing?

Hi,
We are working on a .net windows service program. In one code path, we will create an oracle oledb connection to an oracle database using ado.net provider over oledb.
We use oracle oledb provider (11g, 64bit) but we found when the path was configured incorrectly, a message box of "OraOLEDBpus11.dll is missing" would pop up. Since it's a windows service, the dialog box can't be seen and thus blocked the whole process.
We would like to know if it is possible to suppress this message box. And how can we suppress it?

Section tool is missing bounding box... show bounding box not available

My selection tool is missing the bounding box, i am unable to transform anything.
under View where show bounding box is suppost to be it is not.
I am using CS5... and JUST installed it, i haven't done anything yet.

checking out the shape tool, and just noticed that the rectangle and rounded shape tool displays differently in settings at the top bar. they appear to be "shape" objects. but when clicking on the elipse tool in that group, it's considered to be a "path" tool? does this have anything to do with this issue because with the elipse, i can create one and the handles are back on the objects, along with the other shapes in there such as the star.
in order to get the resize handles back onto the rectangular shapes, you have to convert them to path? why are these different?

After installing iWeb 08 (vers 2.0.1) - Blog comments missing

Originally my web site was created and maintained by iWeb '06 and resides on my .Mac web space. It contained several blog entries and associated comments (as it's a site I set up to commemorate the death of my partner's son). I've just updated to iWeb 08 and when using it for the first time it asked that the site is updated to work with the new version - which I did. I then published the site (though I'd made no changes). Unfortunately, though the blog entries are still there, all the comments we had received from the site visitors have gone missing.
I don't want to try an re-publish the site until I know whether I've lost forever all the comments. Unfortunately, I've not made a back up for the site for many months (my stupid mistake). Is there anyway of getting these comments back.
Any help will be very gratefully received.

Just updated with iWeb 08 and have the exact same problem. It's a shame when you spend so much time putting together a site and you lose something as valuable as blog comments. I now have dual websites. One updated and the other with comments I want to keep but can't update. Now I have to make everyone know there was also a change in the web address. Bummer. Major disappointment.

Missing Project box thumbnails but weird

Under Library: Projects I have folders. One of them contains all my personal work. It is mostly folders for subjects like dogs, flowers, people, travel, etc. In each of those are either more folders or typically Project “boxes”. Like one for dogs and one for puppies in the Dog folder.
Recently, I went to Americana folder and saw that my Flags Project box (along with a few others) were missing most of the images. The little grey number showing images in each project was showing the right number. But only 5 or so actual images are visible in the Flags project “box”.
Interestingly, they show up when I select the Americana folder (but not the Project box they were in)!
I did each of the option + command Aperture library rebuilds, permissions, basic fix, and then total rebuild. Twice. Interestingly, another Project box “Farms” did bring back all the missing stuff after the final full database reconstruct.
But not the flags I need to properly organize and edit (or who knows what else out of thousands of images).
What can I do to restore the proper organization here?

Never mind. Unbelievably, the FILTER was still on for just that folder! But I had not been in the Flags Project box in YEARS!
So, does that mean that, filters are retained for specific Project boxes? Apparently, that is so as I just looked at other folders. But, inexplicably, while the check box (star rating) was checked, unlike with the Flags, it seemed to have no affect on those others.
So the filter option is clearly unclear on functionality.
That’s just bad UI and UX.

"Add Comment" missing on Blog in iWeb ???

Well there's sommeting missing (or that i cannot find) in iWeb...
How to add the possiblity to let visitor the option to "add comments" on our blog ???
Most of Blog editors include this option, so i'm surprise apple forget this option ???
I saw the post with iComments... but is it the only solution to have comments on our blog "create on a mac" ?
Please does anyone have a solution to create "add comments" on .Mac web site or blog ?

In another similar thread where I've checked a provided URL I've noticed that the blog text has been converted to an image, and I'm beginning to wonder if this is what's causing the problem. There's certainly something strange showing up in the source for that site which doesn't apply to Joel Suplido's blog pages which work correctly.

IPhone 6 arrived - PHONE MISSING FROM BOX

My iPhone 6 arrived two days ago via FedEx. Unfortunately, while the packaging, charger, and headphones were in the box, the actual physical phone was missing. Has anyone had to deal with this same horrible issue? If so, where, and what did Verizon do to rectify this issue? I've been given conflicting information by Verizon representatives who are not willing to work with me to figure out a fast and fair way to make me whole. Please help.

I suspect most problems not necessarily yours, is actually the buggy iOS 8.0 and the slightly better 8.0.2

Missing Message Box after Skin Copy in IC Agent

Hi,
I copied the default skin in a customer z-skin (and added a logo).
Everything works fine, even the company logo is visible.
Now I have the problem that for the role "IC Agent" all the three message boxes have disappeared and that behind the SAP logo, the "Interaction Center" is smaller then before.
Is this a problem in the process of the copy? Or is the mistake somewhere else?

Hi Tim,
We are facing exactly the same issue with our skin. we tried to copy 'NOVA' into a new custom skin and the three message boxes have disappeared.
Also we get a warning on UI when we use this new custom skin saying "Communication management software system is not configured".
Please can you extend help on this one. This is important for us.
