Comments on Blog only appear on Blog Archive until I publish again

I love to read the comments that people write but just recently I had to put a lot of blogs on at once and since then, the comments only appear when I got to the blog archive or when I re-publish. Why is this? What have I done differently and can some help me get this back to normal please?

Hi Trevor,
We had the same problem so I hired a VA on odesk.com to log in (to only be able to touch comments) and remove them all for a fixed fee - was cheap / worth it and quick. The spam protection has now greatly reduced them.
P.S - I'm a massive fan of your podcasts!!
Best,
Lana

  • Iweb blog archive photos?

My picture thumbnails aren't showing up in the blog archives. I thought the pictures were showing up before. What happened? I don't see an option for turning them on and off in the archives only on the mail blog page. Help?

Thanks for that explanation. I was having the same problem and that fixed it. However, if you want this to work, you cannot have text wrap around the photo on the entry page. To have text wrap you have to cut and paste the photo into the text block. This appears to "erase" the attributes of "placeholder" from the image and it is therefore not recognized as such on the summary page. A nice fix would be for the designer to have the ability of inserting a placeholder into the text block. I don't see that option anywhere.

  • Can't leave comments on blogs using iPad

I cannot comment on blogs using my iPad. Have tried Safari and Chrome. Found a suggestion to try Opera but it is so slow it won't even load the sites. Any suggestions?

The problem seems to be specific to blogs. I enter the required information in the comment fields, i.e., name, email, website, and comment--then hit the submit button. The site goes through refresh as if processing comment but comment doesn't appear. I have researched online and this appears to be a common problem when using iPads to leave comments on blogs. The only suggested solution has been to use Opera browser but it is extremely slow. Here are some examples of sites:

also, it doesn't make a difference if the site is mobile responsive.

  • Links in blog archive not working

Can anybody help me get more reliable performance from my iWeb archives page?
    http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/Archive.html
I am getting very frustrated with the Archives page for the blog I've created with iWeb. Often -- very, very often, the links on the Archives page for past posts are corrupted -- not by me, but somehow by the software. When these links are clicked, instead of showing the proper link and taking viewers there, the link looks like: http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/$link$. This of course results in one of two different types of "Page not Found" pages.
    One looks like this:
    Not Found
    http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/$link$
The requested URL was not found on this server.
    お探しのURLはこのサーバーでは見つかりませんでした。
L'URL que vous avez sollicitée n'a pas été trouvée sur ce serveur.
Die URL, die Sie angefordert haben, wurde nicht auf diesem Server gefunden.
The other is a more professional-looking page that says "We're sorry, but we can't find the iWeb page you requested. . . "
This is maddening to the point of being infuriating. These links are not always corrupted, but it seems to happen randomly and frequently. This has nothing to do with my links, which are all fine when published. It appears that this is an issue with MobileMe.
Anybody have any ideas on what I can do? My blog is extensive (more than 100 posts over eight months) and I have lots of people accessing it. The blog serves both personal and professional purposes and I cannot afford or tolerate such spotty performance. Though I love Apple products, this alone is enough to make me cancel my MobileMe subscription and look into web-hosting from a different vendor.
Can anybody help me get more reliable performance from my iWeb archives page?

Did you wait long enough for the 'archive' page to fully load before you clicked on a link ?
If not, then you may have clicked on an incompletely loaded url, resulting in the "not found" MobileMe page. (yes, indeed it's about fractions of a second, that is why it seems to happen randomly)
If this happened in Safari, clear the cache and wait for the page to fully load. Does that help ?
Ps : I can navigate from your archive to the corresponding entry ( tried 4 random links)
For other browsers, if you wait long enough for the page to fully load and then do a "reload page" and again wait long enough ... does that help ?
When you hoover over the links and do get a $links$ move over to the next one, go back... now do you see the correct link ? Not always, but most of the time it's a blog entry with a very long filename.

  • Is it possible to have a blog archive page including pictures?

In my blog, there is a blog summary, and there is the blog archive page. The blog summary shows the main picture of the blog, however, the blog archive is only a title list with links previous blogs.
Is it possible to also show pictures in the blog archive page (next to the blog title)?
So far, I have not been able to find this functionality in IWeb. Maybe it doesn't exist?
    Thanx!

In the upper right of this forum's _main page_ is a +Search Forum+ bar. If you enter:
    blog archive image
...into it and hit Enter, you'll find the first hit in the list is your answer.

  • Blog Archive in iWeb

    Dear All,
I am putting up my first site in iWeb and I am having trouble with the Blog Archive. It automatically places the Blog archive as a page underneath the Blog parent, and will not allow me to drag it out into the main tree structure of the site. This means that I am unable to put the Blog Archive into the site navigation. Does anyone know how to get the Blog Archive into the site navigation, or is the only way to link to it to provide a manual link from any page that you feel it should be available from?
    Thanks, Jules

    Different methods:
Method 1. make a blank page of the white or black template , name it "Archive", drag and drop a fragment html, insert this code :
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.location.replace('http://urlof_your_blog_archivepage.html');
    </script>
    In this code replace http://urlof_your_blog_archivepage.html
Now, the item "Archive" is in the menu, and your blank page redirects to your Blog Archive page,
    or
Method 2. Don't display the navigation menu, do your own menu with links (inspector > link > hyperlink > link to my page ) with a link to your archive page (it is what I do on my [website|http://iweb.debutersurmac.com] ).

  • Commenting on blogs and file structures

    Hi,
two problems. I was once able to post comments to my blog but now it won't work. I get the processing error when anyone clicks on add comment. I have tried making new pages and republishing, etc. and nothing works.
Also, is there any way to change the file structure within iWeb? It's slightly annoying having a main page that is www.whatever.com/iWeb/Site/home.html. It would be so much nicer to just have /index.html or /blog.html etc.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I too am having the exact same issue and need to figure out a solution as soon as possible. My site is hosted on .mac and I'm using the iWeb version previous to iWeb '08.
I am able to add a comment by selecting "see more comments" on the page (the add a comment link is not appearing on the site). Once I click on "see more comments" it displays a "add comment" link.
When I click on "add comment", I get the same error, "We're sorry. We are having a problem processing your request."
What can I do to fix this issue?
    Thanks for your help!

  • $link$ in Blog Archives

My site has been up before and worked in previous incarnations of iWeb. Now I have uploaded in '08 and the Archive page sometimes display the link to the blog entry as /$link$ instead of the correct URL. This is usually remedied by a refresh. Happens in Safari and Firefox.
    Help!

    Jim

I have the same problem. My earliest blog entries from 2006 don't display the correct link, and I see the $link$ that you get and receive a "page not found" message in Safari. However, if one of the pages appears in a search, the correct link URL is displayed below it, and when I click it, I get the page. I'd like to find out which file contains the links for the Archive, but I haven't found the right page in the Domain file on my computer or in the blog archive files on my iDisk. I know enough about editing HTML to be able to manually correct the link if that's the problem, but I haven't found where the break occurs.
Here's my website: http://web.mac.com/juliekaye and the broken links occur at the bottom of the Year 1 archive.

  • Firefox 3.6.27 (Mac) doesn't work with Google Blogger's Blog Archive links?

I noticed this just started happening about week ago. Firefox 3.6.27 (Mac) doesn't work with Google Blogger when clicking in the Blog Archive sidebar links. I can't upgrade because I'm using a PowerMac. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

I press the combination after having some of the document's text selected, otherwise there wouldn't be anything to apply the paragraph style in the first place. But the real thing is I do the exact same with other paragraph styles combinations (Cmd+Alt+1, Cmd+Alt+2, Cmd+Alt+4, Cmd+Alt+5...) and it works. In Safari, even the one I'm interested in works (Cmd+Alt+3). The natural solution, it appears to me, would be a shortcut conflict, but I can't manage to find it, not even disabling my four add-ons (Adblock Plus, bookmarks-deiconizer, Customizable Shortcuts, YouTube to MP3). The Google forums are not finding a solution either. Anyway, thank you for trying.

  • How to change the color of blog titles on blog archive page?

So while I'm waiting for apple to fix iweb's publishing problem, I might as well do a revamp of my site in the meantime.
One thing I've been itching to change, but can't is the color of the blog titles on the main blog archive page? They show up in red, even when I change the color on the actually blog entry page to blue. Can anyone please help?

    Thanks,

All of this style information is contained in the .css files that iWeb publishes. Here is a very informative introduction to editing these files...

  • Page formatting is out of whack after comments, new blogs, etc

I just started my website with iWeb and i'm already having problems. I first noticed this when I added a 7th blog entry and the white background on the blog listing page was not big enough for all the information there, so it shifted to a midpoint...it's difficult to explain... (pics should be helpful, keep reading)
I figured out a way to fix it, change the page layout dimensions, publish, change the layout back, and publish again - and it works! I was happy I found that, until i saw that every time someone would comment a blog or a picture, the page would become screwed up like that and i'd have to go through every page with a comment and fix it.
here are pictures of the problem (the white background should be covering the page top to bottom.

Or you can check out the site yourself. add a comment to a picture and watch the formatting screw itself over. www.calinchrist.com

    Don't use gradient background.

  • Unable to Post Comments on Blogs

    Hi Friends,
I'm not able to post my comments on blogs. Is it some authorization issue? I do have a blogger profile.
    Regards,
    Vimal G

    Is it some authorization issue?
Certainly not so.  Can you provide the blog where you were not able to  post.  Also what error message system was popping up???  Ensure that while trying to comment on any blog, you have logged in :-(.
    thanks

  • IWeb 09 Crashing at Blog Archive creation

I have a blog with several hundred entries, and iWeb 09 has not been able to publish it, crashing every time during the creation of the blogs Archive page. This happens when trying to publish to MobileMe, or to a folder.
    Anyone else seeing this?

This is not an iWeb 09 issue... I just tried installing the OS and iLife 08 on an external drive.. and publishing the ENTIRE site with iLife 08.. and it fails too. I watched the system run out of memory, prior to crashing. My 1.5 GB site needs more than 4GB of RAM to publish.

  • Transfer old 1.0 iweb blog archive into a new template

I want to change templates for my iweb blog. Is there a way to copy my old blog archive into the new site. I'd hate to loose all the old content.
    Thanks
    imac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Unfortunately, as of this moment with iWeb 1.1.1 there is no way to change themes/templates for pages that are already published. You will have to recreate your blog in order to use a new template. Alternatively, I guess you could just start a new blog with the new template.
