Dear all,
Does anyone have experience in using the Infor ERP LN with oracle. Are they fully compatible...the reason why I am asking is to make a good arguement why our company needs to oracle when we migrate over to our new ERP system which is infor ERP LN. currently the vendors are trying to have us change to sql sever.

The vendor itself should be able to tell you whether they are certified against Oracle. I would definitely official confirmation from the vendor themselves, else you might find yourself in a lot of trouble if it turns out that it isn't certified and you have major problems.
Saying 'I asked a guy on a forum' wouldn't do anything to help keep your job in that case...

The Gem Cutter Manual is the least 'evolved' of docs we have put out (written in 2001 and only given some TLC last week!).Â To be honest, we almost didn't put it out, but as I think you've confirmed, it is worth it because we need an intro to the tool.Â Your notes are very welcome, and will help us tighten up the text, especially in some of its 'fuzzier' aspects ;-)
Aside from your points about the document flow turns of phrase, I can comment on the following points:

Yes, the snapping idea would be a good feature.Â I think it was discussed once(!)Â Connecting in the regular way does require one's fine motor skills to be in reasonable shape.Â

The Gem Cutter does indeed 'just write CAL code' (in fact just functions).Â In its current form, it's utility lies as a kind of interactive laboratory for when people are experimenting with functional logic.Â Typically it therefore has the most usefulness in the following situations:
- When learning about functional programming
- When setting out to design some new functional module from scratch (where you want a more RAD approach, quickly prototyping some ideas, testing them, lots of iterative refinement etc).Â
- When playing with composition - perhaps testing the public interfaces of some modules to check that desired logic can be built from the 'building blocks' they expose (particularly useful with the sort of high-level 'functional models' we build to express high-level data behaviours).
Around here, I tend to see it up on people's screens when they are at the beginning of some larger task.Â Once some key ideas have been established, then people tend to take what the Gem Cutter has produced in the way of code, and move over to a regular syntax workflow (in Eclipse). Â
The biggest strength of the Gem Cutter is its interactivity IMO.Â Using the tool often provides considerable insights as you see types change on connectors or run small portions of code (you can run any 'collector').Â This is certainly valuable at particular points, but when you are done 'programming through a keyhole', then you just resort to your favourite text editor.Â To me, this can be a big 'something else'. Â
BTW, another way to see the code that gets produced from the Gem Cutter is to connect logic to the Target Gem (result) and then use the "Edit->Copy Special->Target Gem Source" menu option.Â This will put CAL code into your paste buffer. Â

Er...yes, I think that functionality is defunct (probably changed sometime in 2004!), sorry about the misleading information.Â The Code Gem Editor these days does not show local variables on the LHS, just arguments and functions.Â Instead, local variables are highlighted in the code and a tooltip will indicate what they

Its all depend in which stack you want to fit. If you want to go into EP, then JAVA is must. In XI having knowledge of JAVA will be highly useful and in other Netweaver stack it will be an added advantage. Anyhow ABAP is not enough to sustain with NW technologies.

This simply means it is set to Automatically update and you should not have to do anything with it.
When you put new music in iTunes , it will automatically go on the iPod next time you connect it.
This is the default to make it very simple and very easy to use.
If you want to do it all yourself, iTunes prefs -> iPod.
Set to Manually manage songs and playlists.
You have to drag songs to the iPod and delete them from the iPod.

The list would scroll off the screen, but use loops to display a partial list, hesitate, and then display more of the list. Do not use a graphical user interface. Insert comments in the program to document the program.

Two executions required to benefit from result cache (two executions of the statement with the result cache hint).
First to populate, Second to benefit.
Can offer good benefits particularly with poor code - e.g. functions in SQL, row-by-row function calls, etc.
Optimal solution may be to refactor to more efficient approach.
But result cache can deliver significant short term tactical gain.
Not a no-brainer though.
There were scalability issues with a single latch protecting the result cache - I believe this has changed in 11gR2.
There are also issues with concurrent executions were the result needs to be recalculated and takes x time to regenerate that result.

There must be a problem with the app store right now as a number of people seem to be having this problem right now. Try purchasing it using iTunes on your computer, accept the terms and conditions there, then either sync it to your phone or download it on your phone as a past purchase (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

I encountered an error in the Payment Wizard screen as I was creating an Outgoing Payment for petty cash expenses. On the “Recommendation Report” screen, I clicked “Non-Included Trans.” and saw that one of the vendors (Vendor Code: WILCO) has the following error:
“The document amount is greater than the max. amount allowed in the payment methods linked to the BP”
Upon checking, the “PCF-W” Payment Method linked to WILCO does not have any restrictions, nor does WILCO have any credit/commitment limit set. I have also appropriately defined the Dummy Business Partner Bank (under Payment Terms) as well as checked the “Included” box for PCF-W on the Payment Run-Payment Methods screen.
Could anyone please help me on this?

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!

Every instruction Mozilla offers to find or to do something contains a term or a phrase that is indeciphrable.
I have been trying to change "Cookie Settings" so of course Mozilla advises me to click the Mozilla button at the top of the page. And of course there is no Mozilla button at the top of the page. Then after wading through Mozilla's arcane and moronic help sections I end up at the following:
Display the Firefox button menu instead of the menu toolbar.
Why don't I see it? (the Firefox button)
Apparently the Firefox button is a new feature added in Firefox 4 to replace the Menu Bar. The menu bar is displayed instead of the Firefox button to make Firefox look like other Windows XP programs. Windows XP? Are you kidding me? Windows XP. Earth to Mozilla: Have you heard of Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?
Then your instructions go on to refer to Windows Vista and Windows 7. JFC!
Then, under "How to get it?" Mozilla offers the following gem:
Right click on an empty section of the "Tab Strip" and uncheck "Menu Bar" om the pop-up menu.
WHAT IS A TAB STRIP; and WHERE IS THE TAB STRIP? Again, JFC!
Since these instructions refer to Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7, apparently these instructions haven't been upgraded for more than 2 years. No wonder Mozilla is a non-profit organization. There is no way that this organization could ever be profitable under any other structure.
