  • I can no longer see the gray "suggested text" boxes when I type an email or text message.  How do I restore this function?

I upgraded my phone to the latest operating system a few days ago.  I really like the gray suggested text boxes that appeared when typing an email or text message.  That function has stopped.  How do I get it back?

Make sure you have "Predictive" turned on (green) in Settings > general > Keyboards.

  • Resizing Comment or Text Boxes in Acrobat X

Is anyone else having a problem finding corner "handles" when resizing text boxes or comment boxes in Acrobat X?
Whenever I need to resize a text or comment box I have to spend quite a bit of time hunting for just the right place to get the cursor to change into the resizing handle, and it's typically some distance away from the position of the actual corner (or side) of the box.
Is it everyone else, just Mac Acrobat X users, or just me?

In acrobat X when you use text box, you simply get the typewriter function, rathe rthan a text box.
To actually get the text box, you have to actually escape the etxtbox function then go to the select option and then (with great difficuly try to resize or move it). The problem is that some bright spark thought that combiining the typewriter function and the text box function would be a great idea. It is not.

  • Vertically Center Text in a Text Box

Just switched form Acrobt 6 to Acrobat Pro 9 and can't figure out how to verically center text in a text box.  When I select the text it gives me the properties bar shown below:
Seems like a really dumb question because I know I could in Acrobat 6 and I don't know why they would take away that feature, but I can't find it anwywhere.

The only time the More button is enabled is when I have the Text Box selected, and then the options pertain to the line weight, etc. of the box and not the text.  When I select the text the More button is not enabled and the only options properties are the ones shown above.
I made the Text Box by going to "Tools", "Comment & Markup", "Text Box Tool".  I have not seen anything that says Multiline and when I searched help it only talked about multiline fields in forms.
    Thanks for the quick responses.

  • Help - text boxes/highlighting hidden unless selected in Acrobat Pro 9.2

I am working Acrobat Pro 9.2. When I insert a text box, it disappears when I click somewhere else.  I can only tell it's there If I hover over it - I get a black mouse arrow.  If I click on it and select it, then I can see the text and border, but if I click anywhere else, it disappears.  I've tried all the options and settings I can find.  It is set to show, not hide, all comments and text boxes.  Also, when I try to highlight regular text, it puts a little yellow, symbol above my text but does not highlight the text.  When I roll the mouse over it, a yellow note pops up with the text I highlighted, but when I move the mouse away, nothing is highlighted.  Again, I've tried changing all of the settings I can find related to highlighting but nothing works.  I use Acrobat on other computers and have used both text boxes and highlighting without any problem.  Is this due to a setting somewhere, or is there something wrong with my installation of Adobe?   Thanks.

    Something to check.
To have text selected by the Highlight tool placed into the annotation's pop-up:
    Preferences > select Category "Commenting"
There are three panes of configuration options.
    --| View Comments
    --| Pop-Up Open Behavior
    --| Making Comments
Tick the last option (Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups) in the third pane.
Play with the other options as you may find others that are very useful.
    For form fields:
    Preferences > select Category "Forms"
In the first pane (General), select "Show focus rectangle".
In the second pane (Highlight Color) select "Show border hover color for fields".
    Be well...

  • I am using the big date calendar template and when I submit it to apple for printing I lose the name of two months. These names are not text boxes. I see the names when I send it in but something happens during the transmission to apple. It was suggested

I am using the big date calendar template in iPhoto. I am on Lion 10.7.2, macbook air. The names of the months are on each calendar page but something happens when I send the data to Apple. The names are part of the template. They are not text boxes. I lose two names on the calendar after it is sent to Apple. Apple suggested I make a pdf file of my calendar before sending it in and check to make sure every name shows. I did this with a calendar I just sent in. The calendar was correct. All names of the months were showing. After sending the data two month names disappeard because when it arrived by mail, it was incorrect. Apple looked at my calendar via a pdf file and it was incorrect.  This is second time this has happened. I called Apple and they had me delete several folders in the Library folder, some preferences and do a complete reinstall of iPhoto.  I have not yet remade the defective calendar. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
    kathy

Control-click on the background of the view all pages window and select "Preview Calendar" from the contextual menu.
You can also save the pdf as a file to compare to the printed calendar.  If the two names are visible in the pdf file then the printed copy should show them.  Contact Apple for a refund.  Apple Print Products - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • "Text Boxes" (comments) in my form are included in "tabbing" through fields while filling in a form

I have included several text boxes (not text fields) in my form. They are adjacent to the fields that are being filled in and serve various comment functions that I do not want in the printed form at the end.
If the user "tabs" through the fields to enter data in the next field the 'text boxes' (comments) are included in the tab stops... I can not see where to turn that off. I want the tab order key to ignore the comment fields - the text boxes. They are not even listed in the tab order menu.
Also - is there a way a field that shows up multiple times in a form (duplicate field) can be skipped by the tabbing through IF it aleady has data in it?

I'm not aware of any app that will translate the form fields from Word to the iPad. My guess is that you're going to have to recreate the forms on the iPad.  The best app that I've found for doing this is FormConnect http://http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/formconnect/id432653695?mt=8&ls=1. It's a very simple app for creating check boxes and text fields.

  • Add comments in a text box or callout

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e5a.w.h tml

is there a way to keep the property box open at all times or do i have to go to Show every time i need to use it.  Also, within the text box, if I hit enter to provide a space between lines as soon as I close out of editing the spaces all go away.  Both of these things we available in the last version of adobe i was using and can't understand why you would take things away from the program that were previously available.

  • Carriage returns in text box comments

Hi I am new to Acrobat (using Acr
obat Pro 9) and I have found that when I add text to a text box it does not seem to recognise the carria
ge return. It seems to do when I type than when I click out of the box the CRs dissappear.
I have resorted to adding a space which does not seem correct.
    Is there a setting somewhere?

Whenever you append a line of text to the StringBuffer you also append the newline string for your platform which you can get from the System.getProperty(...) method. For a list of properties, see the getPoperties() method.

  • How do I save a font and it's size and color in a text box as a default

I am using Adobe Acrobat XI for Mac and can't figure out how to set a default font for text boxes. I don't seem to be able to access the properties to set the default by highlighting a properly formatted text box and pressing ctrl-e. Is there another key combination for Mac? Or another method for setting defaults? I'm finding I have to set the font, size and color every time I open a new Acrobat doc and want to add a text box. Also, the choices are not even saving with the document. The fonts already typed save correctly, but on reopening, I have to reset if I want to add more text.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tom Carlson

Thanks for the suggestions. I've got a Logitech G700S Mouse with a right click button, so right-clicking isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the I can't seem to find the menu to "Use Current Properties as New Defaults." I may not have described the problem correctly.
I am adding text to a pre-existing pdf document, not creating a form. I would like to be able to set a default font, size and color for text, so that when I enter text in a text box onto the pdf document, it has those properties. If I select the text box that is properly formatted (not the text, but the box) and right click, the only choices I get are:
    Cut
    Copy
    Delete
    Select All
    Deselect All
    Arrange>
    Edit Using>
So I gues my question is if one can even format a text box as a default or a "style" or the like. I tried setting a default font, size and color for "comments" also in the Acrobat preferences, but even that didn't seem to stick when I opened a new doc. This all may just be a Mac / Mavericks interaction flaw. Anybody have any other ideas?

  • Cannot type in a text box or text callout box

I'm using Windows 7, IE 9.0.8112.16421, and Acrobat version 10.1.6. I am working in a priorietary platform for reviewing material and I can use all of the commenting tools and can create a text box and a text callout box, but I cannot type in them. My text box and text callout box work just fine with every other program that I use on my system. But this requires using Acrobat and its tools within their platform and I cannot type in those two boxes in that situation. Their first suggestion was it was an Acrobat problem. We have repaired and reinstalled several times to no avail. They then said to be sure Acrobat Reader was not installed (and it wasn't). I've cleared history. Their online reviewing system requires a specific Java script in a specific place -- we've installed, deleted, reinstalled, etc. and it still doesn't work.
I've used this platform on another computer and it works fine. I got a new computer in February with a new CS, and the problem is occurring on only this new system. And only when I am using Acrobat in their platform.
Would anyone have any suggestions what I might try? They said they had one report of a person having the same problem, but they had Reader installed.
    Thanks!

I don't know how to save a sample file to the forum.  But I know it's actualy being created because I can close and reopen the document and the text box is still there and you can still select the text in the text box, view it and see it.  But as soon as you click outside the text box, the text in the text box disappears again until you click back inside the text box.
This problem has been discussed ad nauseum with no solution ever having been given.

I am on Adobe X Pro and whenever I add text using the text edit tool the text disappears when I add text to another place in the document. It is also creating comments for every place I add text. How do I get the text to remain visible in the document and not create a comment?

"I have a map pdf that I printed from Google Earth. I want to use text boxes to put labels on it. I can place the text boxes and get the font and colors all set up OK, but then when I click the cursor in a new place to start a new text box, the first one vanishes and won't come back unless I mouse over it. I've wasted hours trying to solve this one! I'm using Acrobat Pro X and Windows 7. It also happens with Acrobat Pro 9 and XP."

Usually, responders claim that one is using Mac Preview or reader or some other program.  THAT IS NOT THE PROBLEM.  THE DOCUMENTS ARE BEING CREATED AND/OR EDITED IN ADOBE ACROBAT X AND NO OTHER PROGRAM.

  • Acrobat Pro 9, blank lines in text boxes vanish upon save

    Folks,
Since I upgraded from Acrobat Pro 8 to 9, whenever I put blank lines in a text box, the blank lines disappear as soon as the PDF is saved.
    Here's an example:
    - Open a PDF file
    - Click on text box tool in the toolbar (or from menu Comments->Comments and markup Tool->Text box tool
    - Draw a box on the PDF page somewhere
    - Enter "First line", then hit Return twice to add a blank line below, enter "Second line"
    - Right now my text box contains two lines of text separated by a blank line
    - Hit save
    - Blank line vanishes in the text box. Now the two text lines are on adjacent rows.
This did not happen in either Acrobat Pro 7 or 8. I've been using textboxes consistently for years without this silly behavior.
Any suggestions? I've looked through forums and knowledge bases and such to no avail.
I have acrobat pro version 9.0.0 running on XPSP3.
    Thanks!
    Petros

    Hello Petros,
I figured out how to make this work, at least on my computer.  Hold CTRL key and hit ENTER.  This leaves the space.  Hope this works for you.

  • Text in "Text Box Tool" won't print

I have Adobe 6 Professional and a Brother printer.
You can print text box comments and highlighted text using "Document and comments" option under the "Print what" drop-down in your printer dialogue window.

    Thanks...
Flatten sounds like a great way to go. I looked all over, but didn't see a flatten action, can you point me in right direction? I think Photoshop and/or Illustrator have this, but was hoping to just stay in Acrobat, and not get too involved/complicated, if possible.
I stumbled upon a document that said flattening occurs if you save it to [a very old version of Acrobat, like 1.x] Didn't see any place to do this either... on the "Optimize" menu, mine only goes down to Readable by "4.0 and later". Welcome any suggestions.
Re: using "real text" instead of comments, I'd like to, but in some cases the pdf is received, instead of created. So, would like to be able to work with what got (a pdf at the start), then just add the text and embed/flatten/integrate/save or whatever, permanently so to speak, into the document.
Thanks again, and thank you for patience with these questions...

  • Paste does not work in Safari browser to enter copied content into text box

For example when I go to copy a URL Sosa to paste it into a text box on a local newspaper comment section, it won't paste in. Same goes for any pasting into the text box. I highlight what I want to copy (or cut) and the go to paste it into the text box, and nothing happens. Also there is this problem of the cursor not wanting to go where you direct it with your finger on the touch screen, where you have to get out of the data entry mode altogether then get back in to be able to continue typing to enter text, an d to add to the frustration, the cursor won't go where you want it to, but seems to arbitrarily choose an other place in the middle of the word next to where you want it to! Anyone experience this? I can't believe I'm the only one.

Please don't take offense, you can't believe what some people post and then realize later that they have had a "duh" moment.
I don't know what to suggest other the basic fixes, rebooting (holding the sleep and home buttons down until the Apple logo appears) and see if that helps - maybe clear the cookies and data in Safari even though that should not have any bearing at all on this issue or so I would think.
I can relate to the cursor jumping on the screen issue as I do experience that from time to time. Not quite as bad as you seem to experience it, but it does happen to me as well. I have found that I get the best results using a light touch. And of course I will also enlarge the screen as well if I get too frustrated with the insertion point.
Can we assume that you can copy and paste with the success in email, notes, etc?

  • Is there a way to count the number of chars in a formatted text box?

I have a formatted text box in my web dynpro for comments pertaining to workflow.
in the backend, this is mapped to a char200 field.
is there a way to have a running counter to let the user know how many chars are left? I'm not sure if there's an event to use for that.
    thanks,
    robert.

    Hello Robert,
There is no way to get a running total of characters typed by the user - if you really need this functionality - consider creating an Adobe Flash Island.
There was in the last year another thread which covered pretty much the same theme - it could be worth looking at that - although you will find that the eventual solution is the same as I suggest above.
