*** Comments won't re-appear

I have an iWeb page that I'm uploading directly to my .mac account. The main reason for this is to have all the features that come with publishing to .mac such as comments and subscribe etc. The problem I'm having is that I can't get the comments button to appear on one of my pages. When I got home last night, I noticed that there was a typo on the page. I logged into my iDisk, pulled the .html page off and fixed the error in GoLive. I know that this screws up the comments section and not to my surprise, the comments button was gone after I made the change, but when I got back to work I removed the typo in iWed and republished and the comments button still isn't there.
What could I do to solve this one?

If all else fails, I think a "Publish ALL to .Mac" might be in order. Keep in mind that this will probably wipe out all of your existing comments.

Marker Comments won't appear

I'm a beginner, but according to the book, my marker comments are supposed to appear in the canvas, and silly me, I can't figure out why they won't appear!
Does anybody know off the top of their head what the problem might be?

To see the marker's name and comment in the canvas (or viewer) window, when the playhead is over the marker, you must select *Show Overlays* from the small popup menu on top of the corresponding window.

Entourage/signature won't always appear

I have a problem with my email signature - each time I go to write a new email, or when I reply to an email, my signature does not appear.
I have set up my email signature, but it won't automatically appear.
I have OSX Lion and Entourage for MAC Version 12.
I have never had this problem before, and it was only when I bought my new Mac Book Pro a few months ago.

You might want to try quitting Mail and then going to ~/users/username/Library/Mail/ and moving the "Signatures" directory to your desktop temporarily (this is to save your existing signatures) and then launch Mail. It will rebuild the directory with a blank SignaturesByAccount.plist file. You can test to see if this fixes by creating a test signature quickly with the "Place signature above quoted text" checked. Choose an email to reply to and see if the signature is in the correct place.
If you had an elaborate or multiple signatures, you can double-click on the webarchive files in the original "Signatures" directory that was moved and they will open in a Safari browser window. Simply copy and paste them into Signatures preference and apply to your accounts as desired. Feel free to safely delete the moved "Signatures" folder from your desktop. Also, you may come across an older Signatures.plist in ~/users/username/Library/Mail directory. That was from older versions of Mail and it is safe to delete.

Comment window does not appear.

When I check for new comments from the file menu, the window that use to pop up does not appear. I have new comments in my blog as I can see the blue dot next to it. I remember that the new comment used to pop up. Anyone know what to do?

Not repeatable with consistency.. gottit - Firefox never (what's that tell ya?)
I have almost always been frustrated by Safari when dealing with gobs of client-side script computing as is always the case at FB - yes sometimes it requires abandoning the session as you describe... thus Firefox for me - even Firefox gets sluggish at times (likely on the FB side) but always succeeds.
You can easily export/import bookmarks to another browser, if that's what's stopping you from switching to a more reliable browser experience. Or, it's not that tough to just fire up Firefox, Chrome. etc. for your FB needs.

IPad 1st Gen stopped typing: the keypad won't even appear. Everything else works.

My daughter's 1st gen iPad suddenly won't type: the keypad won't appear. Sound works, touch works to open apps and play games, just no typing. I've tried restoring it, same problem.

You don't use a Bluetooth keyboard with the iPad do you? If you do, turn the Bluetooth keyboard off and turn Bluetooth off in the iPad settings as well. If that is not the situation, reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Comments won't work

When people try commenting on my blog, there is an error window that comes up saying "We're sorry. We're having a problem processing your request."
This has only started happening since the .mac to mobileme switch.

Is there anything I can do to fix it, or does the problem reside with Apple?

I have solved this problem, too. Maybe the earlier explanation was not clear enough, so give me a go at it. . My Blog URL starts with http://web.mac.com This is the URL where the comments function has ceased to work. It was created in iweb by clicking on "publish" which appears at the very bottom of the iweb screen in between "+" and "Visit". If you hover over the "publish" button, you will see the words: "Publish all your websites to mobileme". Apparently this "publish" button is not working correctly. For me, it creates the site at http:// web.mac.com. For it to work, the site must be published to http://web.me.com.
Now, contrast this with the option that DOES work. In iWeb, go to the very top of your screen to "File" and click on "Publish All to mobileme". Note when you do this, it publishes to a site that starts with http://web.me.com and your comments will work. Seems like this should be a pretty easy thing for Apple to fix.

Comments on Blog only appear on Blog Archive until I publish again

I love to read the comments that people write but just recently I had to put a lot of blogs on at once and since then, the comments only appear when I got to the blog archive or when I re-publish. Why is this? What have I done differently and can some help me get this back to normal please?

We had the same problem so I hired a VA on odesk.com to log in (to only be able to touch comments) and remove them all for a fixed fee - was cheap / worth it and quick. The spam protection has now greatly reduced them.

Firefox is hanging after trying to update Adobe Flash. I can't fix it as long as Firefox is open, but I'm unable to close it-menu bar won't even appear.

In the process of updating Adobe Flash, Firefox froze. It registers as being open, and none of the fixes I've tried will work as long as it's open, but I can't close it. Even when I click on the Firefox icon, the Firefox menu bar doesn't appear. No Firefox window appears.

Trying to print comments but 'Commenting' option doesn't appear in Preferences in Adobe. Using Mac OSX.6.8

I need to print off some student work in PDF form showing the comments they have added BUT when I go to the "preference" menu in Adobe, the "Commenting" option just isn't there! Any idea why? Any way round it? I'm on a Mac using OS10.6.8, Adobe version 9.3.2.

Sorry – new to this. I just have Adobe Reader, version 9.3.2. The site I looked for help from was an Acrobat Help site. It directed me to the Preferences menu and referred to (and showed) a "Commenting" option which just isn't there on my screen. The page is here:

Why won't podcasts appear in playlists anymore?

I have a basic 80gb old school video iPod. I used to have a smart playlist that selected all my movie podcasts I subscribe to and had them in date release order. Now the iPod (now I've upgraded to iTunes 11) won't sync playlists with iPods. Even ordinary manual ones. Anyone have a work around - aside from downgrading iTunes?

Insert Editing, Why Won't Clips Appear In The Timeline?

Every time I attempt an insert edit, either via the "downward arrow" symbol or via "W" on the keyboard the clip appears in a secondary time/storyline below the Timeline, with a blank space in the main Timeline of exactly the same duration as the clip.
Similarly if I drag a clip from one part of the Timeline to another the clip appears below the Timeline with a corresponding blank space.
I do not want a secondary, or indeed tertiary storyline, I want all my clips to appear on the Timeline. I am not bothered about the length of the project or if I alter the length during the editing process.
Suggestions will be appreciated,

Couldn't manage that Tom, my hands aren't big enough BUT I have since discovered that what I thought was the Timeline is in fact a secondary storyline, with the Timeline, dark grey, below it. If I insert edit the clip appears correctly on on the Timeline with the two adjacent clips above on the Secondary line.
I have no idea how this happened. I started off my edit by by using the "append" arrow but the clips appeared and lined up together on this Secondary storyline.
A very laborious task in dragging each clip off the Second line and onto the Timeline. Nearly an hours worth of short clips!
I am about to start another project so will want to be certain to get all onto the Timeline. Perhaps my settings were wrong or I've inadvertently pressed the wrong key. Ron

Why won't thumbnails appear?

I created a pdf. portfolio using Acrobat 9. When I saved the portfolio and viewed it on another computer using Adobe reader 9, the thumbnails of some of my pictures above the description do not appear. All of the pdf.s are less than 700k, if it matters.
I'm also not happy that in order to view the portfolio, someone has to have Reader 9. I thought that using pdf. would allow a more universal way of viewing in case someone had an earlier version of Reader or another pdf. viewer.

Check Safari > Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extension issue, use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, it's free, and may help the 404 error.
Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK and restart your Mac.
Relaunch Safari.

Prompt to Update Account with Mobile Phone Number WON'T STOP APPEARING

When signing in to Verizon a box keeps coming up to enter mobile phone number. I have been checking off "No Number" and it says account settings updated but the box keeps appearing. I have deleted cookies and history as instructed by cust. svc but that did not fix the problem. Using Firefox.

Why won't app appear on my IPad? It says I've already downloaded it?

However, when I go to the App Store it shows that I need to download it via the iCloud but a message saying already purchased appears. Any help would be appreciated.

Attempting to automate shared review with XI - deleted comments won't delete

We've been using the old/depricated browser based reviews for years. We've integrated that process with several of our line of business apps. The shared review process in XI is cumbersome to start for large groups of people from within acrobat, but we need the be able to use the shared review process in our workflows. (Looking at livecycle, but the pricing is jaw dropping.)
So we're attempting to inject the needed javascript into our pdfs to start the review process (using Delphi, with some Debenu components) . We can do this successfully, but have noticed that deleting comments from the review are not actually deleting.
For example, using the following document level javascript in our test document:

will trigger the review, and accept comments from users, but if we attempt to delete any comments, and then publish those changes, the comments are coming back.
The comment XML file is indeed reflecting that the comment is deleted, but reopening the PDF shows the comments.
The comments are not being embedded into the pdf, as I've locked it with security to disallow editing the pdf.
I have noticed reading and writing to a file during the commenting process:
C:\Users\kjohnson\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Acrobat\11.0\Synchronizer\resources
This is using Acrobat Pro 11.004 on Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 SP1. (both x86)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are going down a rabbit hole of sorrow and tears. A couple of things about what you are attempting to do.
The JavaScript API that starts a Shared Review is undocumented. It's not in the Acrobat SDK and if you run into problems you are pretty much on your own. LiveCylce unfortunately is not a solution in this case either. It has no Shared Review capability in it like it used to have for the old and deprecated Browser Based Review.
