Commerical release with the iDVD menus

Does anyone know if the annimated menus that you use in iDVD are ok to use in commerical releases? in other words, are they freeware?
I plan to release a feature film / DVD using an apple animated menus. BTW, anyone know how to get rid of the apple symbol at the bottom right?

IOS releases with the real user in mind

Since the new update iOS 8 on my iPhone & iPad I have come across a few glitches, well things that I think are a bit rubbish and I just wondered if anyone know whether Apple actually takes into account the real user and reads multiple posts (as in 100s or 1000s) of winges on the same issue(s) when they do their updates.
Some of my examples are:
The correct time given with Find my iPhone.
Being able to delete locations in events on Calender.
Being able to edit (remove) certain Favourites & Recents on the home screen that appear when you double press your home button.
Having the alarm clock alert when the phone is off.
Sorting the Bluetooth out so it actually works properly.
I Love my Apple products and the software is very cool and well thought out so I'm not gonna moan too much but I just wondered if Apple actually adress these issues that are worthwhile amending.

They do not release the reasons for updating.
But many, many features/improvements have been asked for and added over the years.
Why would you think that they would't? Companies do not become as successful as Apple without listening to their customers and prospective customers.
Most have no issue with the iPhone or ios. Have you tried basic troubleshooting from the manual?

Why are the iDVD menus grayed out?

I downloaded a movie from iTunes, downloaded fine. Opens and plays in Quicktime, no problem. The format is mp4 and m4v (tried both). But when I put it into iDVD to put on a DVD disk, cannot do. Using the magic iDVD choice, I can set it up, drag the movie in, preview. But I get a message I need to access "Project info" and change the settings. However, that menu item (and almost all the other menu items) are grayed out, so can't do it.
So what is the problem? I tried both formats in iDVD and neither will work. Is it the wrong format?

Yes, I tried it again by seeing the song in the main library as opposed to seeing it in a playlist. Again, the lyrics tab was grayed out. I was able to see the tab, however, when I did a "get info" for one of her music videos I have.

Why ipad mini released with a non-retina display.. The only reason i didn't buy that..

I was so much after the ipad mini..
but released with the non-retina display and this put me down a lot and I didnt buy this one at all.
Now I am looking one but with a larger screen and where i can use that as a phone around 4.5" min.

There are a few "phablets", small tablets that are also phones, but Apple does not make one. Thus far these "phablets" are not proving to be very popular, but if you think one would meet your needs, by all means look into them.

Export iDVD menus to QT

Hello all, I am using iDVD 7.04 but couldn't find a forum for that version, so I am posting here.
I am looking to somehow use the iDVD menus in a QT movie. I am in the process of uploading files to the web and would like to have the menus included. Is this possible?
I've used Handbrake and MPEG as well, but they just pull the video itself with no menus.
Ideas?

If you'd like the menus to be functional (ie, start the video), you'll need to use web tools to recreate the menus.
If you want the menu with its effects to play like a movie, the way I'd do that is using a screen capture tool for video, like Snap Z Pro.

How to I turn off the disappearing menus?

I am having a really hard time navigating Adobe with the disappearing menus. I have a laptop with a touch pad and I can hardly bring up the menus and by the time I scroll over to them they disappear.

Please- Does anybody have any input regarding my problem???

I saw that a new wifi standard is released with the new Time Capsule. Is it possible that via software update in the future my current new macbookr pro retina 13 inch will be compatible with this standard.
Or will I have to wait for the new macbook pro's?

Can an encrypted USB drive be used with the Airport Extreme?

I would like to keep an encrypted USB drive hooked up to my Airport Extreme (A1354) so that I can use it for a hand archive of documents I might need to reference on the road or conveniently within my home, mainly because it would be handier than having to plug and unplug a USB device into whatever computer I'm using, and would allow my wife to do the same with her computer. I know most internet providers provide a service like this, but I figured why not just do this with my Airport Extreme?
I've read posts from people who have taken encrypted USB volumes generated from their MacBook Pro, and plug that USB device into the Airport Extreme. The Airport recognized the device exists, but it is you can't actually use it as an encrypted volume. This seems like a flaw on the part of Apple if you can't do this, as this device is a much more expensive solution that what most wireless routers provide.
Has anybody figured this one out?

Does it see the same disk if it's formatted just Journaled (ie, not encrypted)?
The tehnical article isn't entirely clear . . . it just says Mac OS Extended: AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule: USB storage device supported formats and protocols
It was last modified June 14, 2011, a couple of weeks before Lion was released with the ability to encrypt drives.
Note that ExFAT is supported on Macs effective with 10.6.5, but not Airport Extremes; there's no reason to think encryption is any different.

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
   1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
   2. Press the power button.
   3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
      Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
   4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

Navigating with the mouse: Differences between iDVD 4 and 5

Hello,
I just finished making a DVD with iDVD5. Everything, slideshows, movies and menus were in the right place and playable but I was surprised to find that I could only navigate using the up/down arrows on the control panel or the keyboard. Last time I made a DVD I used version 4 and I could select a movie from the finished DVD with the mouse.
Is this a feature change between versions 4 and 5 or a settings choice I have failed to make before burning in 5?

Thank you for responding. I've been having some trouble with Safari and OmniWeb (not being able to play QuickTime content,) which I think coincided with my installing Flip4Mac software. After disabling all the plugins except those for QuickTime normal service resumed. I haven't had time to slowly switch plugins back on to see which is the culprit, but I wonder if this problem had any bearing on my iDVD question? I should also burn another DVD to see if the problem has been resolved.

How to apply different keyboard shortcuts to an actions with the same name but in different menus within one application?

Hopefully someone can help. I have the application "djay" and in two different menus there is the action "Eject". I was wondering if it's possible to apply different keyboard shortcuts to those actions with the same name? I can't see how to do it as it seems you can only write the action but as there are two it doesn't seem to work for me.
For example:
djay>Table-1>Eject - ⌘⇧1
djay>Table-2>Eject - ⌘⇧0

How do I get Firefox to go back to scrolling one line at a time with the up/down arrow keys? I noticed this changed in Firefox 10 and I actually preferred the one line at a time, can this be an option in future releases?

The title says it all, I'm not really sure if this is the proper place to post this as it's not a "bug" per se. I noticed on the list of bugs "fixed" in Firefox 10 scrolling more than one line with the arrow keys was one of them. I know a lot of people hated the one-line thing too so I'd suggest in future releases it should be a preference we can change.

You can right-click either Back or Forward button to open the tab history list.

The quality of the images on the resulting DVD are blurred and indistict although the original photographs are of a very high quality. Where am I going wrong? Would I have better results from a different program than the inbuilt iDVD and if so so what programs have others found to be better? I should be grateful for some expert guidance.

Looks like you have image quality issues when using iDVD to burn.

A standard DVD made by iDVD is made to the standard DVD resolution of 720 X 480, which is smaller than most HDTVs and monitors. When expanded to fit the entire screen or monitor, the image will distort slightly due to upscaling to fit the screen or monitor.

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

DVD's are only 640 x 480 (interlaced), so yes, the quality is not nearly as good. You should probably create your .mov in DV format to best match the DVD format
