Commit got me all confused

Hi,
I have a cursor that reads the data from a table does some manipulation and inserts it into table 2.
Reading 50,000 records and doing manipulation took 6 min.
After each read (one record) and manipulation developer was commiting the record.
We now commit the record after 100 records and the total time has been cut down to under a minute.
I think this is because it does not have to flush to disk after every record but still can it make such a drastic change?
Is there any way to know what is the optimal size when to commit a record?
Thanks
Munish

Redo is used for redoing transactions should your database crash and have to be recovered. From Oracle's viewpoint, data hasn't been given to the database until it has been written to the redo log and the application has been notified about that. This is independent of whether it is committed - the database writer is what writes it to the database, and takes its own sweet time about it, though you can tell Oracle to limit the amount of recovery necessary after a crash by telling it to checkpoint more often. Any particular block on disk or in memory may or may not be the real data from the viewpoint of another session looking at the block, depending on its SCN.

    hi one guy stolen my iphone, and now i need my pictures which i have in my icloud i open my Apple id in icloud but i downlode just 20 pic how i got my all picturs in my pc?

    Update:  I reset my phone again and this time I restored it from my last iCloud backup.  That "sort of" worked.  (The missing info was on my phone temporarily, but it's still missing from iCloud.com and as the phone syncs with the cloud the missing contacts are disappearing.)
    This is good news, but I'm losing progress.  How can I restore my iCloud settings to that last backup?

    I have 6 ios devices. When i got icloud, all the information merged together. How do i make it go to how i had it before.

    "Method Three
    Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open,quit it.
    This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
    I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

  • I got it all figured out:)

    Hey,
    I finally got it all figured out. Burned an acceptable DVD-R (I use actual Apple certified media). When I took the time to configure Compressor (always the way to go by the way). I have it setup with my bitraye at about 6.8 with a max to 8.2.
    Image quality is great. I shot this film on my Panasonic DVX100 (original) in 24p Advanced mode. Letterbox 16:9. Plays well no my Mac mini and our consumer Sony DVD player. Look awesome!
    It did look grainy on my Superdrive on my iMac but so does my Smallville DVDs. For some reason it is playing DVDs at a lower quality. I will have to figure that one out but it should not prevent me from doing a nice screening at Galaxy Cinemas. Looks great and sounds great.
    So in short yes you can get good results just keep plugging away.
    Thanks for everything...
    Chris

    Have you taken the steps recommended in the User Guide:  restart, reset, restore?

    Hi,
    Did you ever back up your phone on the computer?
    Did you use photo stream at all?
    May I suggest changing your passcode lock to a letters and numbers lock (if not all ready it will make your iphone more secure and a restore lock otion shouldent be needed). Then change your setting as well preventing restore after ten incorect passwords.

  • Why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones but not all the phones got the all upgrades, for example the panorama camera??

    why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones but not all the phones got the all upgrades, for example the panorama camera?? this is another reason I am starting to dislike apple. An ipod is able to us an upgrade but not all the phones are? makes sense

    "why is the ios6 compatible for all the iphones"
    Ios 6 is not available for all iphones. Original Iphone and iphone 3 are not supported.
    "but not all the phones got the all upgrades, "
    This is common for most any device/computer.  Not all iphone/computer/device models can handle all of the new features.  Like any device, hardware is limited and cannot always support all new features and software.

  • Lightroom 5 Got Buggy all of a Sudden

    Lightroom 5 Got Buggy on me.
    I have the latest version installed through creative cloud and I also did an uninstall/reinstall.  Windows 7, 64bit, 32GB RAM, intel core i7 6820, plenty of space on the C drive, went through adobe's optimization list, set cache to 20gb, cleared catalog, etc...  I am working on 16bit tiff's, the same as I work on all the time.
    Been using lightroom without any issues for months and this is what it just started doing:
    When I use the adjustment brush or manual lens corrections, the preview freezes and takes awhile to update the image.  Simply painful to use.  It used to update in real time without any issues.  When I try to paint with the adjustment brush, clicking once automatically paints the whole frame.  Yes, auto mask is off.  When I pull down a gradient, it is impossible to control its angle or to rotate it accurately.  The program feels like it caught a cold.
    I have restarted my pc, updated windows, and re-installed Literoom.  Not sure what else to do here as there is nothing I can see that changed with my system which could have caused these issues.
    It's all been the same.  Thanks for any help or suggestions.

  • My puppy got water all on my NEW macbook pro

    So basically, I had my new macbook pro (mid 2012) for only about an hour when my puppy decided to jump on the table and got my laptop all wet. This was last night. She had just gone in her kiddie pool so it's just water, not chlorinated. My first concern was the screen since I already have another macbook pro with a cracked screen. The screen was wet. She stomped on the left side of keyboard with her wet paws too. I'm not too sure if a lot of water went inside because at this time I was concerned about the water on the right speaker. It took me about a minute or two to wipe it all off. I then tested out the speakers by playing music. It was fine from what I can hear... I didn't really get to use the speakers beforehand so I don't know what to compare it too. I also tested out the keyboard and everything seemed to work. I had the macbook still running searching for what to do with the water. Come to find out I should have turned it off immediately.
    So the macbook was still running fine. I turned it off to take the battery off, but I didn't have a twi-wing screwdriver. I ordered a whole tool kit from ifixit and it's suppose to come in tomorrow.
    I did flip the macbook upside down. And I am planning on taking it apart when my kit comes in to see what is going on. If the LSI is red. Is the LSI built in the macbook, or are they stickers? And can they be purchased somewhere?
    Anyway, do you guys think my macbook is fine? Or is corrosion gonna happen? Or if it's running fine now, will it last?
    I would just take this macbook back and say I changed my mind, but it's customized and I read that you can't return customized macbooks. UUUUGH!
    What should I do?

    Take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP for a proper diagnoses.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
    Liquid damage is not covered under Apple's standard 1 year warranty or Apple Care.
    Apple does have a no questions asked 14 days from the date of purchase return policy.
    NOTE:  If you purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with.   They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).
    If you have Homeowners insurance, place a claim with them.
    DIY Instructions
    Immediately disconnect all peripherals, power cord & remove the battery.  Turn the computer over with the lid partly open and the hinge facing upward to let the liquid drain.  Do not flop it over and lay it flat - you want to separate it from the moisture.  Place paper or cloth towels under the machine to sop up the mess.
    After the computer disgorges whatever you spilled on it, don't turn it on for 72 hours or longer.  You want to computer to dry out completely before turning it on again.
    Some users here swear by hairdryers.  Blow drying the innards may bake whatever was in the liquid onto delicate computer components.  Better to let the computer air dry.
    Use plain tepid water to clean out the computer.  If you spilled iced beverage more than likely this ice fried the hot motherboard.
    Sugary, acidic or milky drinks will almost always cause problems later on as the residue starts slowly corroding the computer innards.
    Swab down any sticky parts with distilled water or denatured alcohol.
    If none of the above works, you will need to take the computer to a repair shop.  Apple Care does not cover liquid or food damage.  Believe me, they can tell.  So the old "my computer stopped working" line is not going to work.

  • I took my computer somewhere to get it fixed, when I got it all of my purchased music, that means over 2000 of them were missing...what do I do now??

    I just bought a Toshiba, Satellite L55t-A5290 and when I took it to have it fixed, it came back minus the COMPLETE iTunes, I mean it was all missing!  My complete music library which I'd had for over 10 years!!!   To this point I thought it was simple, all I had to do was go to iTunes and it was all going to come back, which I'd done for years before!  Not so fast, it wasn't working, all I got in return for downloading the iTunes was completely 0 except for blank pages.  I have filled it back up with 253 out of over 2000+ songs, from here and there.
    Sincerely,
    Jane

    Are the songs no longer listed in the Music part of your iTunes library, or are they still listed there but the actual music files are no longer stored on your computer (and you've checked to see if there are still on your computer, but no longer listed in iTunes, or not where iTunes is expecting them to be) ?
    In iTunes go into Edit > Preferences and on the Store tab tick the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' - this screenshot is from a Mac but it should be similar on a PC :
    You should see in the Music part of your library what you can redownload - the songs will have cloud icons against them. If the old versions of the songs are still listed in the Music part of your library but iTunes can't locate the music files, then they won't get the cloud icon, you will need to delete these 'missing' entries for them to potentially show with the cloud icon.
    You won't be able to redownload music if you've changed countries since buying it, or if the rights-holder has removed it from the store. Also check to see if you have any of your purchases hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

  • Commit in a trigger,Confusion

    Hello experts,
    I am new in oracle using oracle sql developer in windows7.I am little bit confuse in that I am using commit in a trigger as given :
    create or replace
    trigger comt after insert on tbl_city
    declare
    pragma autonomous_transaction;
    begin
    commit;
    dbms_output.put_line('Value is committed');
    end;
    Now when I perform an
    insert into tbl_city values (1,'XYZ',1);
    in tbl_city---->trigger fires properly and gives an output stream
    .Value is committed
    But If I perform
    rollback
    now --->there are the data rollbacked in table.
    why this is happen ?I think after commit(which is in trigger associated at insert to table)there should no any rollback in table.
    Please give me solution.
    Thank You
    regards
    aaditya.

    Hi,
        For your Better Understand of Autonomous transaction., follow My Code, feel the magic of Autonomous transaction.
    Step1: Execute this block without giving commit.
    Create Table emp1(sal number);
    declare
    begin
    for i in 1..5 loop
          INSERT INTO emp1
                      (sal
               VALUES (i
                      end loop;
    end;
    Step 2: Execute this Block used Autonomous transaction.
    DECLARE
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
       BEGIN
          for i in 1..10 loop
          INSERT INTO emp1
                      (sal
               VALUES (i
                      end loop;
    commit;
    END;
    Totally 15 rows u have inserted into emp table on SAL column right.
    Now Give ROLLBACK...
    And issue select statement now,
    Select * from emp1;
    you can get to know still the 10 rows remaing .. that's the use of PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION.
    for commiting the session wise transactions...
    Cheers... !
