Commit problems in form

hi to all,
i have got a problem , plz somebody help me. Its very urgent.
my problem is
i have got a content canvas. on that i have a data aware block, a tab canvas and a stacked canvas. In the tab canvas i have three pages and all the data blocks in those pages are based on from clause query.
Now when i am making any changes first time in the master block the changes are
getting saved in the database but after doing clear form build-in , when i am again saving the data it is not getting saved. and no errors the encountered.
what should i do in this case.

That means you were probably using Adobe Acrobat to view PDF's. Acrobat is totally unnessary, you can view PDF's in Preview (Applications - Preview).

Role Based Access problem in forms

This would be a long reading.
I'm having a problem with forms Role Based Access.
We have two databases, one in London and one in Zurich. We have installed
application server and oracle forms on London database. We have implemented
Role Based Access to forms. For this we have created a database role (say ZUR_USER)
in both databases. The view FRM50_ENABLED_ROLES which is used by forms role based access control
is also created in both databases with a 'grant select to public'.
Our form system has a menu and forms under that menu. Both menu and the underlying forms have been
assigned Menu Security/Item Roles to the above mentioned ZUR_USER role and the role is assigned
to various users.
Now a Zurich user is trying to login to Zurich database using the URL for forms installation
in London server. He can login successfully and can see the menu heading in the main screen but
when he clicks the menu he doesn't see the underlying forms list.
When we try the same user id and database from London (using the same URL) we see all the forms.
Any idea what are we missing. The Menu Security is setup at menu level as well as the form level under
that menu. User can see the menu but not the form under that menu from Zurich. No such problem while
login from London.

I'm using the Forms 10g
and yes the only difference is between login from Zurich and London.
Problem definitely is due to Role Based Access setup.
The user in Zurich can see the Menu but not the items under that menu.
I have set the security set up at both menu and menu item(i.e. form name) level.

Problem in Forms...in 11i

Hi All,
i have created a form, and uploaded to respective directory. From apps menu it is calling the form and working fine, but the foreground colour is black...
So if i highlighted the field then i can see the field value; otherwise full text field is black.
Do i need to set any thing?
If I run from directly from form6i, it is showing perfectly fine.

Problem in form based authentication

Hi,
I am encountering some problem in form based authentication.
When I try to login for the first time. It reoute me to the image
directory and not to the request page.
When I try it for the second time, it shows
"Form based authentication failed. Could not find session."
And it always show this message no matter how many time I try.
I am not sure is it something that I did not set ...

It may be a problem in your web.xml, I missed the "/" slash character
in the web.xml's in <form-login-page> element. So your web.xml
must look like

DB Link problem on form/report 6i

I have an problem on form 6i with DB Link , that When I have view Using the DB Link and want to use the view on form6i or report 6i, the report not work when call the run file but work through the builder and also on the form not work (Form/ Report 6i With Oracle 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production)

we have both 6i forms for client server for Linux and Sparc and the same forms ported (a year ago) to iAS/iDS 10g R2 just to be able to support the same application when 6i becomes obsolete. The issue of trying/asking/investigating if 6i works or will be certified against 11g or not, is simply to find out if we can support our application on the client/server side when the end users want to move to the new database server version/s. As you know the runtime for the client/server version of 6i is free. But we can not simply recommend our end users to start using 11g db server yet, given that 10gR2 forms are not yet certified against 11g yet. Thank you for your comments not only for this posting but on Forms forum though, I always find them very helpful when making educated decisions. Also knowing that you are a unix person makes your comments more valueable for me, personally.

Comma problem with global string variable

Hi,
I'm fiighting with comma problem for global string variable. I've on page string for example "7nndqrr52vzyb,0" and by dynamic column link I'm assigning this string to global variable. Then I'm trying to display value of that global variable on another page but I see only string till comma, nothings more. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because when I'm trying to assign that value normally by computation process as a constant value is fine and see on another page correct string. I'll be really glad for help.

When it tries to display the string, it sees the comma and wants to believe the string is terminated. You could escape the , in the string or replace it with a different character..

Commit a different form from another form

Here's the scenario:
Form A and Form B are on the screen.
User makes changes to Form B.
User clicks on a button in Form A to launch Form C.
How do I commit changes on Form B when clicking on a button in Form A? Commit and forms_ddl('commit') don't seem to do it.

Anytime you do a commit, the commit applies to everything in your session. If you want to commit only one form, then you need to open the form using open_form built-in and specify a new session. See the open_form built-in in the help documentation.

Std layout was given by SAP. If you do not want to print the form in the layout given by SAP, select Customer Layout and enter the name of the layout created by you. You can create your own layout through transaction SE71.
Name of the Layout Set .......................... Script name
Name of Annexure Form.........................Script name
Name of 12BA Form...............................Script name
Name of 16AA Form..............................Script name
These scripts are created by Tech people based on our req....

Hindi font problem in forms

My aplication requires text input in hindi font by implemneting PJC.The pjc is working fine but the text box is not picking correct font from aplication server.I have deployed form on 9i AS.

Am i missing any steps to use unicode fonts in my app....or this is very common problem of forms and unicode fonts....or do i have to register the fonts in any other config files?
One more info regarding fonts is required.....from where forms load the list of fonts in item property pallete and in layout font selection dropdown...? Since i m not getting same fonts in both the lists.

Problem: trying to update all detail rows on pre-commit (MASTER DETAIL FORM

I got a MASTER DETAIL form... and I need to update every detail row of this form (if the master was updated) before commiting the changes. the problem is that i cannot do that for instance in PRE-COMMIT or ON-COMMIT... it's an "illegal operation". I achieved part of it by coding KEY-COMMIT... but that did not solve the all problem. first take a look of the kind of code i want execute before commiting.
form trigger key-commit code is is somehow like this:

The problem is for instance when the users close form in the "X" button (right top, near minimize form) ... If they do that Forms ask "Do you want to save changes?" ... and with this i do not execute the update of the detail rows...
But there are other situations when this happens... for instance if EXECUTE_QUERY when i change a record...
Anyone help?

Oracle Forms 6i - mySQL (Commit Problem)

i'm using Oracle Forms Builder 6i to connect to mySQL 3.23.49 via
Oracle Open Client Adapter for ODBC 6.0.5.35.0
Now I have a problem of controlling which form to commit if more than one form are opened.
E.g. I need to open 2 forms (eg. A, B) and only want to commit the changes made on Form A

I open the forms using the follows (i can't use OPEN_FORM('A', SESSION); since mySQL doesn't support)
OPEN_FORM('A');
OPEN_FORM('B');

then I changed both forms
Now the :SYSTEM.FORM_STATUS, :SYSTEM.RECORD_STATUS, :SYSTEM.BLOCK_STATUS are 'CHANGED'

I then press my custom save button on form A (triggers KEY-COMMIT). Inside KEY-COMMIT, it calls COMMIT_FORM, then triggers
ON-COMMIT eventually. In ON-COMMIT, i use the built-in COMMIT to commit the changes.
Then I found that :SYSTEM.FORM_STATUS, :SYSTEM.RECORD_STATUS, :SYSTEM.BLOCK_STATUS are 'QUERY' which is normal. However both
forms are committed.

So I fixed it by: In ON-COMMIT, add RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE; after COMMIT. Although it stops committing changes on another
form. But :SYSTEM.FORM_STATUS, :SYSTEM.RECORD_STATUS, :SYSTEM.BLOCK_STATUS are still 'CHANGED'. Then I do a EXECUTE_QUERY
after COMMIT_FORM to change back :SYSTEM.FORM_STATUS, etc to 'QUERY'

It works. Only Form A is committed. However when Form A has a lot of records (eg. >500), it affects performance.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

The question is not how you disable a key, it might be more how to disable a functionality. What functionality do you want to disable? By default F5 maps to the KEY-MENU-trigger, if thats the function you want to disable, write a NULL; in the KEY-MENU-trigger.

PROBLEM WITH 'COMMIT' COMMAND IN FORM 4.5

During any process if I use COMMIT command after insert, update
or delete command in table which is not the base table of
current form a message appears on screen 'No changes to save'
and changes are saved in the table. How can I stop this message?
If I use Database trigger then I am not sure if I would be able
to use Rollback command.

If you are referencing standard.commit, it works for me. I
am using v4.5, I am assuming if is the same for 5.0 or 6.0 if 5.0
or 6.0 is your product.
Having said that all solutions mentioned are valid. I would
recommend next to try:
v_system_message_level := :system.message_level;
:system.message_level := '5';
commit;
:system.message_level := v_system_message_level;
If you modify the on-error/message trigger you may not
receive this error when it is raised when you really
do want to see it.

Navigation Problem in forms 10.1.2.0.2 !!!

Hi All,
when we create relation between master and child block then getting problem in navigation.
i assume that you have form with two block with relation and data then execute query then
start following step
0) make sure you set required = true for first navigation item of child block
1) you are in child block make some change on any item and make your cursor must not be on first navigation item.
3) commit the form
2) then click on master block and here make sure you are clicking on non current record.

this is error explanation :
I have debug many times !!!
actually it is not error but funny behaviour !!
when you click on parent block on diffrent record then validataion trigger of first item of child block will fire. I do not why it is happening !!!
I removed the validation trigger and did required=true for first navaigation item of child block then also it's behaving funny.
This are the steps.
1) create form with parent and child block and make relation ship
2) insure that you put 2 record in parent and 2-2 recors in child for each parent record.
3) insure that your first navigation item of child block has required property = true
4) run your form fresh
5) from parent bloc execute query ( I hope child block is populate some records)
6) click on any record of child block and make changes
7) then commit your form.
now fun will start
8) click on parent block on any record which has child records and non current record.
9) then form should populate details for child instead of it behaves different as follows
you will find FRM-40202 : Field must be entered
your cussor will remian in child block;
your record will not change in parent block.
and child block will remail blank.
by debugging I found that problem is coming from this code of <Clear_All_Master_Details> procedure

when I remove this line

then my problem is solved
But I do not know what is the other impact can be possible by removing this.

Master-Detail commit problem

I have master detail scenario. I have two forms. First one for the master and the second for the detail. I am first inserting the master data and then i navigate to the other form to insert the detail data. If i make commit from the second form it works just fine, but i need to go back(using JSF navigation) to the first form and commit from there. When I'm doing that i get the following error: JBO-27102: Attempt to access dead view row
I need solution to this problem

JBO-27102: DeadViewRowAccessExceptionReason: Trying to access a ViewRow which is part of an obsolete/invalid collection. This could happen if a reference to the ViewRow is held by some business logic while the containing view object was removed.
Solution: Find the referenced ViewRow either by re-querying or using findByKey methods to get a valid reference to the ViewRow.

How are you creating your detail row - when you are navigating back are you doing a form submit to make sure that the data is submitted to view object..? If yes, try to get the handle to detail viewobject instance to check it holds new rows before commit..?
