Hi
1)What is the implication of Financial transaction in the Commitment item master?
Kindly explain in details regarding various financial transactions like
30  Post revenues, expenses, fixed assets, inventories
40  Post Goods receipts and Goods issues
50  Clearing
60  Post receivables & Payables
70  Post customer clearing
80  Post bank clearing and BG
90  Post cash holding
Explain for which transactions and GL accounts these financial transactions must be used.
2) What is Commitment Item caegory? When and for which transaction these item categories must be used like
1) Balance
2) Expenses
3)Revenues.
4)Clarification work list

I've create commitment item master (FMCIA) without "Standard Variant" field flaging. When I display commitment item heirarchy (FMCIE) the commitment item is under my Standard Hierarchy.
I reviewed in table "FMCI" and found that field Standard Variant (STVAR) is flagged "X". Is this mean all Commitment Item Master Data will be automatically flaged the Standard Variant field?
From my experience, all Commitment Item should be flagged to be position under the standard variant. I tried create Commitment Item Master in the client that the Standard Variant indicator filed appeard by un flag that field. There is the error Message no. F6160 (You can only maintain postable cmmt items in standard var. xxx).
Are there any case that the standard variant field in Commitment Item master should not be flagged, and let that commitment item out from Standard Variant ?
Is this related to the configuration that I set for Year Independent Master Data?

  • Commitment item error

    Sir,
    While doing MIGO Goods Receipt following error coming related to Fund Managment :-
    Posting not possible; incorrect financial transactions of the cmmt item     Message no. FI149
    Diagnosis
         You want to post a goods receipt. However, this is not possible because
         commitment items that have a financial transaction  larger than 40 are
         included in the posting.
    Procedure
         See to it that your system administrator or consultants check the
         commitment item assignments to the G/L accounts.
         If you want to post a goods receipt, the only G/L accounts that can be
         included are those with a financial transaction smaller than or equal to
         40.

    Hi,
    You must take care that the commitment item which is assigned to the G/L relevant for MIGO is defined with 30 (or 40)/3 financial/item category. You can verify the financial transaction via FMCIA. You can define the commitment item which is supposed to be derived either in the G/L master data or with FMDERIVE functionality.

    Hi,
    I had experience with same error message, and find the solution as follows. 
    You shoud check the completeness of Sales order transaction. It could be the VKOA or acct.assignment group of material/customer master data not complete. It means the customizing or master data not derive the gl account. Then "no commitment item error message exist".
    You can check on sales order item: Environment/analysis/account determination.
    If you double click the lower node you have to find i.e "G/L account 4001002000 determined from Account determination type KOFI". And account assignment group exist with data.
    I think the test derivation does not find the source because acct.determination not complete. I have the experience as i tell you above

    This message issues when system needs Commitment item in FI document.
    Commitment item can be:
    - entered manually by user
    - automatic assigned by:  a) Standard derivation from G/L account master data. If Commitment item field  ( Table SKB1- Field FIPOS) is informed into G/L account master data system will  automatically assign it in FI documents (Tr. FS00). Or  b) Funds Management derivation tool (Tr. FMDERIVE)

  • How to Change financial trasnactin for commitment item for which no trasnaction has been posted

    \We re in process to Go live for he FUND Management module for Power generation business, while we create all  FM master data and budget structure we found a mistake in NONBUDGET commitment items. we wrongly mapped financial transaction 30, while changing it to 40 system showing following massage,
    Field "Fin.transaction" cannot be changed
        Message no. F6288
    Diagnosis
        You can no longer change the entry in field Fin.transaction as commitment
        item NONBUDGET in FM area SAPL and fiscal year  has already been defined
        as a budget object.
    System Response
        Field Fin.transaction is not changed.
    2. when we try to delete the commitment item system showing following error
    Commitment item NONBUDGET in FM area  and Fyear SAPL defined as a budget
    object
        Message no. F6206
    Diagnosis
        The commitment item NONBUDGET in the FM area SAPL and fiscal year  was
        defined as a budget object.
    System Response
        The chosen action was not executed.
    Procedure
        Remove the indentification Budget object in the budget structure.
    As per above error we check the following details
    1. FM deriver - Removed NONBUDGET from all the rule
    2. There is no Budget/ Posting in FM9k
    3. There is no activation of budget ( no golive)
    4 There is no data posted with the commitment Items

  • Cost Element Category and Commitment Item Cat. for PS Cash Mgmt

    Dear All,
    We are activating PS Cash Mgmt.
    I want to know the difference between:
    1. Maintaining the Cost Element Category as 1 and 11. Is it necessary to maintain 11 (Revenues) or maintaining 1 (Primary costs/cost-reducing revenues) will have same result.
    2. In Comm. Item Financial Tran. maintained is 30. But for Commitment Item Cat. as 3 (Expenditures) or 2 (Revenues) only to be assigned for revenue.
    Our Client is asking to maintain everything as 3 (Expenditures) to all the commitment items. What will be the effect on PS Cash Management if I use Cost Element Category as 1 & Commitment Item Cat. as 3 ?

    Hi,
    Cost element category as 1 and commint Item caterory 3 holds good for all expenses, so you can use this, with this when you process Invoice In MIRO a Project cash management document will get generated and this will update the report against the payments in CJIA as well in S_ALR_87013574 reports etc.
    Combination for creating commitment items is
    Cost element category 1 --> Commitment item category as 3 and Financial Transaction as 30
    Cost element category 11--> Commitme nt Item category as 2 and Financial Trns as 30.
    Note : what ever the G/L accounts created wrt Chart of accounts, whether it is Expenses or Inventory or Revenues, you have to assign commitment item in the G/L Master in Create/bank/interest tab in field commitment item. If it is not assigned in all modules you will get error as commitment item not assigned.

  • Different commitment item between FI/CO and FM

    hi,
    We have defined a commitment item group 506 and two sub commitment items 70 and 90 which are Directly postable in Former Budget Structure Template. And these sub commitment items was defined in the G/L account master record.
    We park FI documents all through using commitment items 70 and 90. But I find some Funds Center only commitment item group 506 displayed in Report FMRP_RFFMTO30X.
    Our DEV system have a client copy from PRD at 2008.6.1. In DEV system I find some Funds Center displayed commitment item 70 and 90 in Report FMRP_RFFMTO30X. That mean these commitment items is right before 2008.6.1, Some operates made budget controlling changed from 70 and 90 to 506.
    I want to know, which operates could make this and how can I revert.

  • GR/IR Commitment Item

    Dear All,
    I created the Commitment itmen ( 40/3) for GR/IR  Account  and assigned to its master record. I have only dervivation FMDT_READ_MD_ACCOUNT_COMPANY Read Account Master Data for deriving the commitment item.
    When we post the GR, system is not deriving the Commitement item from GR/IR General ledeger , instaed taking the Commitment item from offsetting GL entry.
    please advise

    Thanks. Yes in FBL3N in  dynamic selection by giving  commitment item. User need reporting dr/cr of all GL against any  commitment item which are assinged to that GL's.
    e.g one commitmnet  is assign to many GL, they need sum of Dr/Cr against that commitment in particular period

    you can change Commitment item with each 250 GL a/C
    1 - use T.Code: MASS
    2 - Select Object Type     BUS3006 & Execute
    3 - Select G/L account master (company code) (SKB1) & Execute
    4 - Give Comp Code & GL from to number & Execute
    Here select commintment item field and change Mass Records

    When we create a payment request or another budget document, don't retrieve automatically the commitment item from the customer/vendor master record.
    We need to create a derivation rule or there is any customizing transaction that solve it?

    Regarding to your first question, you should have a derivation rule which derive the appropriate commitment item.

    And for your 2nd question: Yes, depending on your postings, the system will consider the combination of Commitment items involved in your document.

  • One Inventory GL to several Commitment Items

    Dear BCS experts
    Here is a requirement for capital Items. 
    1. All assets should go to Inventory GL while raising the PR/PO.
    2. While issuing the Goods(GI) it should go to respective Assets.
    Requirement is while raising the PR/PO, if I select the Blank Account Assignment category,  it will ask commitment item.
    If I do not assign any commitment item to the inventory GL, will the system allow me to overwrite  the commitment item for each line item for the same inventory GL? (manual entry).
    Ex: One Inv GL for Computers and accessories.
    Commitment items- Fax machines, computers, x-rox, printers..
    I would like to select different commitment items for the same computer Inv GL for consuming the Budget and controlling purpose.
    Can I do this without any other settings.

    Does the FM derviation strategy & function module defined for GL to CI? Plus is the CI field compulsory in GL Master record?
    Is above are defined in that case, it would depend upon the derivation rule plus the setting whether overwrite is possible or not.

Commitment items classify budget transactions and business transactions affecting liquidity into revenue, expenditure, and cash balance items. You can assign budget for particular responsibility areas (funds centers) to the commitment items. Budget is used up as postings commitment items and funds centers with commitment and actual values. Funds reservations and business transactions entered in the feeder systems also affect the budget.
    <b>Fund Center</b>
    Organizational unit within an FM area which represents the structure of an organization (areas of responsibility, departments, projects) in the form of a hierarchy.You can assign budget to funds centers in Funds Management. Budget is used up as postings are made to funds centers with commitment and actual values. Budget is even consumed in Funds management through a reservation of funds or by business transactions entered in the feeder systems of Funds Management (such as financial accounting, materials management).Funds centers in Funds Management are arranged in hierarchies. You can define only one funds center hierarchy per FM area. There is only one top funds center in a funds center hierarchy. Every other funds center has exactly one superior funds center. A superior funds center is defined in the master record of a funds center.

  • Removing assigned budget from commitment item.

    Hi.
    I am facing a problem with how to restructure commitment item in our R3 system. The problem is that when the commitment item has been created in our system, person responsible chose "Not Directly Postable" option though it should have been "Directly Postable". Right after that budget has been assigned to this commitment item. I went through a number of FM documents and they all say that feature "postable"/"not postable" is not changeable to begin with and on the top of that commitment item cannot be changed once it has any kind of budget assigned to it. As I understand I need to roll back assigned budget (thank God, nothing else has been done), then delete this commitment item, then create it again. I couldn't find anything that explains how to do that. There is a Tcode FMDOCREV but it reverses the whole document and this is not an option for us as by the same document budgets have been assigned to a number of commitment items and spent from them already.
    To summarize my post: I need to remove assigned budget for my commitment item (the rest seems to be easy).
    Please, advise.

    Hi,
    Maybe you can use this work around solution:
    1. create a direct postable and budgetable CI
    2. in BCS derivation tool, replace the old CI with the new CI when applicable
    3. in FMDERIVE, add the new CI to the applicable derivation rules
    4. transfer the budget from the old CI to the new CI using FMBB.
    If your FM master data is year-dependent, you have the option of use back the old CI by checking the postable indicatior for the new FY.

  • Derivation of wrong commitment item in ML81N

    Dear all,
    A material document is created in ML81N with expenses a/c Dr. & provision for expenses a/c Cr & the budget is cosumed with debit of the expenses.& also Cr of this provision for expenses.Because the system defaulting the committment item of the expenses which is different from the commitment item attached to the provision for expenses G/L.
    I have enhanced  the  derivation rule in FMDERIVE with checking the business transaction,G/L & commitment item.Then switch on Trace. Then while saving/posting/checking transaction i can see business transaction and other details also.
    Even then the same problem is exist.
    Now can any one advice me how to proceed further.

    Hi Shivaji,
    Please check the following hints:
    1) First of all, we need to be sure that all existent correction notes are implemented in your system. Please check if the following notes are applied in your system (including manual steps):
    1289547 FM account assignment incorrect in GR/IR clearing in service
    1450965 FM account assignment incorrectly inherited from PO
    1480503 FM account assignment for GL line overwritten in MIRO
    1502874 Planned Delivery Costs are not updated during GR/IR postings
    These notes correct wrong behaviours in include LFMCOBLF06 related to account assignment.
    If the notes are not there (and valid to your release/package), please apply all in one test system and retest your issue.
    2) Regarding inheriting the FM assignments, material po's can retrieve the FM account assignments from the FM tables.  This insures that the current FM account assigments are always used.
    However, in the case of Services, it is not possible to use the FM tables as it is not guaranteed that the correct Account assigment will be retrieved.  So, the SES table ESKN is used instead. The ESKN record is created at the time the SES is created.
    So, the Invoice should inherit from the GR.  But, it is not possible to read the FM tables to get the account assignment.
    3) Talking about your derivation rules (i believe you checked this already), please enter in the derivation rule -> Definition Tab, double click in the name of your Target Field (bottom part of the screen).
    There you will find the fields:
    ( ) Do not overwrite if Fld Already Filled
    ( ) Overwrite with new value
    ( ) Overwrite with new value if new value is not empty.
    I believe you should have marked the first option due to your business requirements described in this thread.
    4) I believe you have set your derivation rule to derive commitment item with the function module  FMDT_READ_MD_ACCOUNT_COMPANY  "Read Account Master Data". For additional information, check note
    839488.
    5) You can also add Conditions to your Derivation step regarding commitment item to not perform the step when (VORGN = 'RMWE' AND KTOSL = 'WRX') OR (VORGN = 'RMRP' AND KTOSL = 'WRX').  To simplify the maintenance of this condition, the Temporary flag could be used instead.  You can set this flag in a previous step using the attributes above and then use that in the Condition list.
