Common division & distribution channel

Hello all,
Kindly provide a solution to my query .  Incase of same division & sales organisation but different distribution channel we can maintain common distribution channel so that no separate customer master data needs to be maintained for different distribution channels if customer details are same.
But incase where either division or distribution channel & division is/are different we can maintain common distribution channel & division so as to use the same customer for different sales area. But here do we need to maintain separate material master record for each division along with customer -material info record as well as condition record (customer/material)...???
As in here although common division is maintained but the materials ( Pharma & Paint ) are different along with their industry sectors....so how can the same material master be maintained for both the divisions..?
  Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR & LS
  Div : PH & P1
Please provide any input .                                                                                Thanks.

Hi
As of my understanding,
Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR & LS - Choose either of LR / LS as a common distribution channel.   SAY LR is a common division
Div : PH & P1 in this case SAY PH is a common division.
Now
1. Your commond distribution channel and Division will be used only in case of creating of Customer Master. So your Customer master will be created in the following sales area.
Sales org :   LSE
Dist chl :       LR
Div :              PH
2. To create Material Master Data we need only Sales org and Distribution channel. Division is not Required.
Sales org :   LSE
Dist chl :       LR
For the reporting or LIS / SIS purpose you can keep seperate divisions for the Every Material.
Say Material A with Division PH
Material B with Division P1.
Try Maintaing the data like this it will work for you.
Now here make sure when you create sales order , before that go to VOV8 and remove the entry for CHECK DIVISION (keep it blank) other wise system will give the error, Header division and item division will mismatch.
Finally for Condition again you  can keep the respectively seperate division for each kind of material
Thanks

  • Combine division,distribution channel

    hello friends,
Can somebody explain me why we do combine sales organizations, combine distribution channels, combine divisions, and ref sales organization, distribution channel, division?
    regards,
    sekhar_functional consultant

We use VOR1, VOR2 to share the master data and reduce the database pile up of repeated data.
The master data shared by several distribution channels applies to conditions and customer and material master data.
This helps you minimize the cost of creating and maintaining the master data.
You can also update statistics for each distribution channel and division without creating the master data for the different sub-areas of the organization.
    Example
You can, for example, create customer master data for distribution channel "01" and define it so that it is valid for distribution channels "02" and "03".

  • Common distribution channel and division

    Hi
Following is the scenario in our Process.
    We have Sales Org 1000 % Distribution Channel 10 , 20 & 30
In Define Common distribution Channel screen have maintained following Config
    Sorg Dchannel       DchConds       DchCust/Mat
    1000 10                  10                    10
    1000 20                  10                    10
    1000 30                   10                   10
so we have maintained Ref Distribution Channel as 10 for 20 & 30
Now we wish to extend the customer to 1000/20 to main some specific data in certain fields related to that distribution channel. but is giving an error no Sales Area 1000/20/Division could be determined.
We would like to use common ref distribution channel and also if required if specific data is required to be maintined in it should be extended to other disctibution channel.
this will ensure that at the time of preparation of sales documents like sales orders it should check if the customer is extended to that distribution channel if yes it will refer data from that disctribution channel else will refer data from common distribution channel.
    Is it possible.

  • Sales document type is not defined for(sales org/division/distribution chan

    Hi Friends,
I am getting the error that sales document type is not defined for x/y/z(sales organisation/division/distribution channel). while creating sales order.
    Any pointers will be rewarded.
    Regards

    Hi there,
When you define a sales doc type in VOV8, you also should assign that to the sales area SA (sales org / dist channel / division).
Only then you will be log a sales order for a sales area.
Check if you have done it. You will find it in SPRO --> Sales & Distribution --> Sales --> Sales doc header --> Assign sales doc type to SA.

  • Common distribution channel division

We are using common distribution channel and division on R3. On CRM the BP are setup against sales area - using sales org + common distribution channel of R3 + common division of R3.
But the requirement is, when an order is created in CRM it should go to R3 for the required sales area and not common distribution channel division. common distribution channel division are being used only to maintain customer master and material master to reduce master data.
I am using header division option on CRM, how do we set up common distirbution channel and division.
    pl advise.

    Hi.
To transfer common distribution channel and divisions from R/3 to CRM, you need to start transaction CRMD_DOWNLOAD_OM and execute report with option sales area bundling.
With this report bundling sales area will be copied to table SMOTVKOS and SMOTVKOV and then you will be able to define your master data only in the referenced sales area.

  • Common Distribution Channels and Common Division

    Hi experts,
We are encoutering an error and i think its because of common distribution channels and common divisions.
1:IN Development client we can see the common distribution channels and common divisions setup. But no one says he/she has set them up. Is it possible that the enterprise structure settings filter to this?? May be weird doubt but i wanna make sure.
2: If they are setup in Development , there should be a transport request and am unable to see any??
3: If we need the same settings in Test, We will have to set them up in Test client or we can move the transports from DEV to TEST for these settings??
4:And also if these are not setup , do we get an error while creating customers and materials for sales areas?
    Please Advice.
    Thanks & Regards

Configuration of common distribution channels and common divisions is a required setting, else it will give an error for Customer & Material Master. This setting has to be done in Development Server & transported to Test & Production Server. If you do not find Transport request, then try to do change in configuration & redo the correct configuration & save the Transport Request.

<b>How to configure Common Distribution Channel and Divisions and what is the advantage of the same?</b>

    dear sunil
    distribution channel
If you do not need the master data (customer / material and condition master data) to
be differentiated according to distribution channels, you have to set up a representative
distribution channel. The master data for the representative distribution channel
applies to all distribution channels for which you have set up this reference in
    Customizing.
By doing this, you can minimize the effort of entering and maintaining master data.
In addition, you can update statistics for distribution channels without having to create
master data for the various distribution channels.

If you do not need the master data (customer or condition master data) to be
differentiated according to divisions, you have to set up a representative division.
The master data in the representative division applies to all divisions for which you
have set up this reference in Customizing.
By doing this, you can minimize the effort of entering and maintaining master data.

  • Common distribution channel and common division

    Hi experts,
Wt is the use of common distribution channel and common division in sale prcocess?
let me know wt are the configuration i have to do for common dist chanl and common division activation.
    Regards
    Ishikesh

    Hi
SAP has the concept of common distribution channel for sharing master data( for customer/material and conditions) across multiple distribution channels under a sales orgsnization
That means say if you have the sales org say 1000 and three distribution channels under them say 10,20 and 30
Now you create a common distribution channel say 40 and assign them in VOR1 like this
sales org--DC-common distribution channel for customer/material ---common DC for conditions
    1000--1040--
    40
    1000--2040--
    40
    1000--3040--
    40
Now you can or need to  create master data for customer/material and conditions only  for DC 40
There is no need to create separate master records for 10 and 20 and 30  distribution channel's
That one master record created for DC 40 will solve the purpose for  10 and 20 and 30  distribution channel's
*When you create a sales order for the distribution channel say 10 system will check whether that customer is created for DC 40  and material is created for DC 40 and condition record is valid in DC 40*
Similarly for  distribution channels 20 and 30 also system will check whether that customer is created for DC 40 and material is created for DC 40 and condition record is valid in DC 40
That means whenever you say DC as 10/20/30 in sales order system will take that as  DC  40 and whatever is valid for  DC 40 will be applicable for 10/20/30
Instead of three master records one record in the name of DC 40 is sufficient
Similarly for common division but with a difference
The common divisions is for customer and conditions only not for materials
You can see this in VOR2 go to VOR2 t code and observe the difference of that with VOR1
This is a key assignment in SAP and without this being defined you cannot create CMR, or MMR or condition record and one in t codes VOR1  common distribution channel and  VOR2 common division
This is a fundamental basic concept any SD consultant should be very clear in his mind

  • The use of Common Distribution Channel & Division

    Dear All,
What is common distribution channel & common division ? What is the use of it ?
    Regards
    Rakesh

    Hi
To put it simple whenever you enter a distribution channel or division in sales order the system will search for the valid records in the common distribution channel and division which is assigned
E.G if yourcommonDistribution channels assignment is like this
Distribution channels 11 commonDistribution channels 11
    For 12 it is 11
    For 13 it is 13
Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 11 the system will search records against 11
Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 12 the system will search records also against 11
Now in sales order when you put Distribution channel 13 the system will search records against 13
The same concept is applies for Division
    Hope you are very clear
This is very important assignment without this you cant do anything in S.D
You test it and see and you will understand it much better
    Cheers

  • CMIR Common Distribution Channel

    Hi
    I have a few distribution channels e.g.
    10
    20
    30
    I have a few divisions e.g.
    01
    02
    03
Now suppose I make 10 as the common distribution channel.
My Sales area are defined as
    1000/10/01
    1000/20/02
    1000/30/03
I create a customer master with the following details:
    Customer number : 1234
    Sales Area : 1000/10/02
It allows me to create the customer and extend it to sales are 1000/10/02
Now I create an order with customer number 1234
The sales are which gets determined automatically is
    1000/20/02
Reason for picking up 20 as the distribution channel is because division 02 is only associated with Distribution channel 20.
Now the main problem comes while creating the CMIR ( Customer Material Info Record )
If I try to create a record for customer 1234 using sales are 1000/10, I get the following error
Combination of sales org 1000 and distribution channel 10 is not defined
What should I do in this case.
The purpose of Common distribution channel failed in this case?

    hi Mona
Do common distribution channels and common division. in spro
    go to VOR1---Make entries with
    Sales org--Distribution channel
    10000010
    10001010
    and go to VOR2
    1000-00-01
    1000-01--01
Make these settings and do again the process.
If any quries get back to me..

  • Common distribution channel

    Hi forum,
Can we map Common distribution channel in R/3 to CRM. I know common division can be mapped by defining Common (Dummy) division. Is there any provision for distribution channel.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,

    Goto VOR1 and VOR2
    In VOR1:
Here you have the option of assigning a Reference Distribution Channel to your combination of Sales Org+Distribution Channel.
What ever distribution channel you give here in the Refrence Fields, you will then be maintaining the Material masters using this reference Distribution channel.
Having assigned a reference D Channel to the combination of Sales Organization and other divisions, while creation of a Sales Order with Sales Org and any other division, the system will use the master data maintained for this Reference D Channel for your Sales Area in sales order.
The use of this is that, Master data can be maintained for only Common Distribution Channel & Division. So it reduces a lot of system load.
The same applies to VOR2, here you assign a common division to the combination of Sales Org+Divisions.
    Hope this helps you.
    Reward points if helpful.

  • Distribution Channel and Division in STO

    Hi All,
We are have a STO senario. We are also using the common distribution channel and common division. However when we create an Invoice with the delivery created the system is picking up the common division not the material division. In delivery  also in the line item of the in delivery shows 00( cross division) and not the division of the material from the material master.
We have configure the Shipping data for plant with common division and common distribution channel.
We want the system should pick the material division compared to common division.
Kindly guide us on the issue.

  • Which is the best practice of creating distribution channels and divisions

actually my company has 11 plant and every plant has differnt type of finished goods
the sales is gone on order ,its exported and its given to distributers
the goods are totally based on order and one product is dedicatedly going to one customer
so in this way what should be the stretegy to creat division and distribution channel.

    hi,
just to add, since the type of products if they are totally different in nature  better you create that many divisions. But a customer might be buying all of those are some of those. So, use common divisions concept. You might as well need to use the common distribution channel since you have exports and tomorrow see a situation for domestic sale. There can be different type of customers in domestic.
so having few distribution channels helps. But, this depends on the project scope.
but basically you are doing only export. Can go ahead with one distribution channel.
But remember building up enterprise is the most critical thing and has to be done after a great deal of analysis keeping in view the project scope.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks

  • Common dist channel and common division

    Hai guys,
can any one send me configuration setting and screen shots on common division and common distribution channel in ECC 6 version.
my email id is [email protected]
    regards,
    Shruthi

    Hi Shruthi,
In SPRO -> Sales & Distribution -> Master Data -> Define Common Distribution Channel, you would be able to define a distribution channel as a reference (common).
Similarly in SPRO -> Sales & Distribution -> Master Data -> Define Common Division, you would be able to define a division as a reference (common).
I dont think you should have too much of a problem with the configuration.
