Common division
My client has 4 divisions. He wants all the products in 4 divisions to be in a single sales order. I suggested common division. But he is adamant on keeping all the divisions seperate but at the same time wants them in a single sales order. Plz suggest solution.
Can i use user exits here.

Hi Pankaj
The common division factor will not work for you
The assignment in commom division is for conditions and customers only not for materials
Suppose if you have three divisions like 01,02,03
Suppose sales raeas like this 1000,10,01 and 1000,10,,02 and 1000,10,03
In common division if you have assigned 01 against 01 and 02 against 02 and 03 against 03 in VOR2
These 01,02,03 are the divisions for three different products in material master
I beleive this is what you are doing
You will not be able to succeed
If you keep common division as 00 against 01,02,03 in VOR2
Basically the material master then should have 00 against all products then only it will work
But this is what client is against as per your statement
In VOV8 there are 2 fields called check division and item division
These are troubling you
Suppse for a customer who is in sales area 1000,10,01 if you enter a sales order for the product which belongs to 01 no problem the moment if you enter products of 02,03 the trouble starts
Because header division is 01 item division is 02 or 03
When the header div and item div is different these 2 fields check division and item division in VOV8 and their importance comes into picture
The check division is the reaction you want the system to give
Keep this as blank
If item division is ticked then the sales order with header div and item div different is not possible or permitted and i beleive this is what is happening to you
Pls untick the this item div field
Now in this case if the header div and item is diffrent then there should be a SH in the tem div sales area who is assigned to this SP
Means 1000,10,01sales area of SP, order entered for material of div 02
then there should be SH in sales area 1000,10,02 who is assigned to this SP
then only it is possible
Alternatively you have to extend this SP to sales area 1000,10,02 in XD01
For you the best soln is SP has to be extended to all the possible sales areas or the sales areas where material div will fall in XD01
Without this being done it is not possible in SAP
Sol in a nutt shell is
Keep check division blank in VOV8
Untick itemdivision in VOV8
Extend the CMR to all possible sales areas in XD01 for that customer
I know it is slighly difficult area to understand
But if you do some R & D on this you will understand it better
I will be really happy if you reply to this post

Common Distribution Channels and Common Division
Hi experts,
We are encoutering an error and i think its because of common distribution channels and common divisions.
1:IN Development client we can see the common distribution channels and common divisions setup. But no one says he/she has set them up. Is it possible that the enterprise structure settings filter to this?? May be weird doubt but i wanna make sure.
2: If they are setup in Development , there should be a transport request and am unable to see any??
3: If we need the same settings in Test, We will have to set them up in Test client or we can move the transports from DEV to TEST for these settings??
4:And also if these are not setup , do we get an error while creating customers and materials for sales areas?
Please Advice.
Thanks & Regards

Configuration of common distribution channels and common divisions is a required setting, else it will give an error for Customer & Material Master. This setting has to be done in Development Server & transported to Test & Production Server. If you do not find Transport request, then try to do change in configuration & redo the correct configuration & save the Transport Request.
Hope the above is helpful to you.

Common dist channel and common division
Hai guys,
can any one send me configuration setting and screen shots on common division and common distribution channel in ECC 6 version.
my email id is [email protected]

ShruthiHi Shruthi,
In SPRO -> Sales & Distribution -> Master Data -> Define Common Distribution Channel, you would be able to define a distribution channel as a reference (common).
Similarly in SPRO -> Sales & Distribution -> Master Data -> Define Common Division, you would be able to define a division as a reference (common).
I dont think you should have too much of a problem with the configuration.

Common distribution channel and common division
Hi experts,
Wt is the use of common distribution channel and common division in sale prcocess?
let me know wt are the configuration i have to do for common dist chanl and common division activation.
Regards
IshikeshHi
SAP has the concept of common distribution channel for sharing master data( for customer/material and conditions) across multiple distribution channels under a sales orgsnization
That means say if you have the sales org say 1000 and three distribution channels under them say 10,20 and 30
Now you create a common distribution channel say 40 and assign them in VOR1 like this
sales org--DC-common distribution channel for customer/material ---common DC for conditions
1000--1040--
40
1000--2040--
40
1000--3040--
40
Now you can or need to create master data for customer/material and conditions only for DC 40
There is no need to create separate master records for 10 and 20 and 30 distribution channel's
That one master record created for DC 40 will solve the purpose for 10 and 20 and 30 distribution channel's
*When you create a sales order for the distribution channel say 10 system will check whether that customer is created for DC 40 and material is created for DC 40 and condition record is valid in DC 40*
Similarly for distribution channels 20 and 30 also system will check whether that customer is created for DC 40 and material is created for DC 40 and condition record is valid in DC 40
That means whenever you say DC as 10/20/30 in sales order system will take that as DC 40 and whatever is valid for DC 40 will be applicable for 10/20/30
Instead of three master records one record in the name of DC 40 is sufficient
Similarly for common division but with a difference
The common divisions is for customer and conditions only not for materials
You can see this in VOR2 go to VOR2 t code and observe the difference of that with VOR1
This is a key assignment in SAP and without this being defined you cannot create CMR, or MMR or condition record and one in t codes VOR1 common distribution channel and VOR2 common division
This is a fundamental basic concept any SD consultant should be very clear in his mind

Dear SAP guru's
Can you tell me if i create a common division and assign it. When we create a sales order we give the sales org, dist channel, common div.
Now customer is created in one of the divisions - so how do we take the reports for same customer - division wise, dist channel wise, and sale org.
And whether the customer has to be created with common division or how to go about.
points will be rewarded
regards,
ReshmiHi reshmi
You can define that customer master records, which have been created for each sales organization for a distribution channel (or division), are also valid in other distribution channels (or divisions). As a result, you create and change customer master records that are required in different distribution channels or in different divisions only once. This makes it easier to create and change master records.
You can also use the same function to process article master data and prices.
Activities
In the standard R/3 System, you can define common master data for the following:
Distribution channels
In Customizing, you can specify other distribution channels in which the customer master data (and article master data and prices) from the reference distribution channel are also valid.
Divisions
In Customizing, you can specify other divisions in which customer master data (and article master data and prices) from the reference division are also valid.
Prerequisites
You do this in Customizing for Master Data (Sales and Distribution) in the following activities:
Define Common Distribution Channels
Define Common Divisions
Example
Customer master record has been created
Sales organization
Distribution channel
Customizing: Data is also valid for these distribution channels
Yes 0001 01 02
No 0001 02
You create a customer master record for the sales organization 0001 and distribution channel 01. In Customizing, you specify that this customer master data is valid for the distribution channel 02. When you process a sales order for a customer in the sales organization 0001 and distribution channel 02, the system uses the customer master data entered for distribution channel 01.

Hi Gurus,
I have created folln divisions.
10-xxxxx
11-zzzz
12-aaaaa
13-pppp
And common division as
01- Common Division.
material masters are created with respective division in material master.
However I want sales orders to be created on common division but effect should be of particular division.
As I do not want to create / extend customer master for each and every division.
please let me configuration setting.Go To Img>Sales and Distribution>Master data-->Commom dist channel/division.
Enter your 'Sales org' & 'Dist channel/ Division' (as per ur req 10 & 11) and Assign common dist channel/division (01).
Ex:
1000 10 01
1000 11 01
Then create a master data for common dist/division (01). Now u can process a sales order from 10, 11 and 01 also.
Please Note.
1. You cannot create/change a master data to the distribution/div that refered to the common dist/div.
2. You cannot Refer common division for material master as a division is material master feild.
3.Here you may/may not also refer for condition records.
I think this will solve your problem.
Reward if usefull for you.

Common Division and Sales Order
I setup the common division for the company.
[see image|http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h336/809836724/sd/SO_vor2.jpg]
My understanding is, the purpose of this common division is so that I do not need to create separate master record for each of the division for the customer master and the material master.
When I tried creating a sales order the sales area window comes up and and asking me to select a sales area.
[see image|http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h336/809836724/sd/SO_commondivJan13.jpg]
I selected one sales area (not the common division) and I was able to create and save my sales order with no problem.
When I tried selecting the common division on that screen ([see image|http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h336/809836724/sd/SO_commondivJan13.jpg]) and
input my material, I got an error message ([see image|http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/h336/809836724/sd/SO_errorJan13.jpg])
Question:
1. Should I select that common division on the sales order window or other appropriate sales area?
2. My goal is to create a sales order, with different materials (each with different division). Is that possible on one sales order? I suppose the common division is the solution but it is not working on my end. How can I make it happen?will try removing check division on vov8 as advised here:

Common division & distribution channel
Hello all,
Kindly provide a solution to my query . Incase of same division & sales organisation but different distribution channel we can maintain common distribution channel so that no separate customer master data needs to be maintained for different distribution channels if customer details are same.
But incase where either division or distribution channel & division is/are different we can maintain common distribution channel & division so as to use the same customer for different sales area. But here do we need to maintain separate material master record for each division along with customer -material info record as well as condition record (customer/material)...???
As in here although common division is maintained but the materials ( Pharma & Paint ) are different along with their industry sectors....so how can the same material master be maintained for both the divisions..?
Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR & LS
Div : PH & P1
Please provide any input . Thanks.Hi
As of my understanding,
Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR & LS - Choose either of LR / LS as a common distribution channel. SAY LR is a common division
Div : PH & P1 in this case SAY PH is a common division.
Now
1. Your commond distribution channel and Division will be used only in case of creating of Customer Master. So your Customer master will be created in the following sales area.
Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR
Div : PH
2. To create Material Master Data we need only Sales org and Distribution channel. Division is not Required.
Sales org : LSE
Dist chl : LR
For the reporting or LIS / SIS purpose you can keep seperate divisions for the Every Material.
Say Material A with Division PH
Material B with Division P1.
Try Maintaing the data like this it will work for you.
Now here make sure when you create sales order , before that go to VOV8 and remove the entry for CHECK DIVISION (keep it blank) other wise system will give the error, Header division and item division will mismatch.
Finally for Condition again you can keep the respectively seperate division for each kind of material
Thanks

Common division and Sales Office
Do common division and common distribution channel have effect on the setup of sales office and sales group?
When I need to setup the sales office to be connected to the sales area, will I need to just connected it to the sales area which has the common division or I need to setup the sales office to ALL of the sales area?Hi,
Common distribution channel and division is for creating master data like customer master or material master, so even if you have more channel and division you need not to extend customer or material many times.
Now sales office you have to assign sales office to all sales area because when you creating sales documents you are maintaining sales area that is not common rather it is conditional (Distribution and divisions are different not common).

What is purpose of common division?
what is purpose of common division? give
some examplesDear Mr Raj,
Regarding common division let me try to offer an example:-
A petrol pump offers both petrol and diesel, of different grades and brand names.
There are certain pumps that are located inside cities, that do not have much diesel sales, and so confine themselves to selling petrol.
There are other pumps, located on highways that cater solely to large commercial vehicles, that are run exclusively on diesel.
Both products are supplied from the same depot of a petroleum product refiner.
Vehicles from depots to the pumps, may carry either one or both of the products, concurrently, for delivery at the same or at different pumps, from the point of view of optimally utilising the capacity and similar services of the vehicle.
Both the products are defined as different divisions, within the respective material master.
To cater to such a scenario, the provision of common division is used, where one of the products is used as common division, say petrol for both petrol and diesel.
It practically works as follows:-
A common sales order may be entered for both the products indented together by the same pump.
A common billing document would be generated.
This is as far as convenience of order entry and billing go.
Further, in case of pricing, terms for local levies like octroi can be set up together bringing down the maintenance of pricing conditions.
Trust this serves to illustrate the use of common division for order entry and pricing.

Devdatta JoshiHi,
Go to SPRO -> SD -> Master Data -> Common Divisions
Now if have created ur BP in one common division, and would like to use the same BP in other divisions (say the 10 that you have now created).
Put ur sales org - each one of those 10 divisions - common division for all the these 10 combinations
For eg
S001 - Div 1 - Common Div (CC)
S001 - Div 2 - Common Div (CC)
If useful please reward

Dear Experts
I am facing a problem regarding the maintenance of common div.we have div as 10,11,12,.and distribution channel as 25.We have Sold to party defined for Sales org-25-10 sales area. Now a different SH is also defined for the same sales area.i.e. sales org/25/10.
Now in VOR1 the config done is
Sales org Dchl Dchl Cond Dchl-Cust/Mt
ABC 25 25 25
& In VOR2 the config is
Sales org Dv DivCon DivCust
ABC 10 10 10
ABC 11 10 10
ABC 12 10 10
The problem that i am facing is when i prepare a sales order i give the sales area as ABC/25/10 and give the SP and a diff SH and the material is entered for DIV - 11 but the system gives a error msg as SH is not defined for sales area ABC/25/11.If i have maintained the common dc & div then this msg should not appear.
helpful suggestions will be rewardedHi
Common division will not check material master as division is not an organizationl unit in MMR and it is a field which we specify in basic data and sales org data 1
Suppose if you are creating an order for a customer created in sales area 1000,10,00 and you are inputting materials which belongs to
Material X division in MMR is 01
Material Y division in MMR is 02
Material Z division in MMR is 03
Here the header division is 00 and item divisions are 01,02,03
if you tick the item division in your order type then materials divisions 01,02,03 takes control for this sales order
That means for your sold to party in sales area 1000,10,00 there should be a ship to party in the sales area combinations of 01 and 02 and 03 or sold to party has to be extended to 1000,10,01,and 1000,10,02 and 1000,10,03 in XD01
If item division is unticked the header division is valid for all items
that means you can smoothly process the above scenario
For your case i dont know what is the problem with your new plant you need to extend the customer master in XD01 in all the possible sales areas wherever your item division falls
Common divisions will not work you can see in t code VOR2 you will see the assignments for customer and conditions only and not materials
But in VOR1 you will see all three like customer and conditions and materials
Soln is
Extend the CMR to all possible sales area that the material division lies like you have the customer for only 1000,10,00 and materials in 01,02 03 divisions then extend CMRs them to 1000,10,01 and 1000,10,02 and 1000,10,03 assuming that we have only one sales org and one distribution channel in this example
