Common Libraries are only showing up graphic symbols, nothing else

I've created my own common library but when i retrieve it from the common libraries drop down, the library only contains graphic symbols even though there are movie clips, bitmaps and folders in the master file. If I open up the library by importing an external library it does show all symbols.
To create my own common library: I created a flash file containing graphic, movie clips and bitmap symbols and then copied it into the user-level libraries folder on my hard drive. It does show up in the common library drop down but the library doesn't show all symbols.
So do common libaries only show graphic symbols? and if not then am i doing something wrong?

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

monitor showing only sleep mode and I have turned off and I have tryed to restart but no scrren but sleep mode.

Could be different things: Cable, video-socket in computer, or the monitor itself.
do you have the option of trying another cable or another monitor?
Perhaps go to a friend and see if they can help you.
In order to determine what's the issue, you'll need to do these tests.
Please let me know the result of these tests so I can determine the exact error.

My Viewing area only shows one photo at a time now :(

Yesterday I noticed that my viewing area only shows one photo at a time. It used to display thumbnails of all the photos in the selected event - or library. Now, I'm forced to scroll down and view them one at a time or go into edit mode to see some thumbnails across the top of the screen.
Did I accidently do this? Was it part of an OS update? (I've been away for a month and just don't think I did anything to cause a change...) Can anyone tell me how to view all the thumbnails in the viewing area again?
I'm using iphoto 08 version 7.1.5 (378)

Download RecBoot and see if that will kick it into recovery mode, so your computer sees it and you can do a restore.

The Libraries panel is shipped in AI CC 2014.1 release. If the AI CC version is not AI CC 2014.1 than please update AI CC 2014 using the creative cloud application (quit & re-launch the CC app).

HT1642 iTunes and Contacts are only showing illegible characters

I must have deleted one of the system fonts! Now iTunes and Contacts are only showing illegible characters.
Is there any way to restore them? I migrated my old data from an old iMac to the new one, at one point it did ask about a font not being compatible or something, and i guess i made the wrong choice and deleted it/disabled it.
at the moment iYunes and Contacts only show illegible characters in the menu bar.

thanks for the suggestion! i tried that but it didn't work. I ended up downloading iTunes again - the fonts were then restored in place again too. Thankfully that seemed to do the trick for Contacts too. Phew!

HT4527 Libraries from old and new PC are only showing on old PC

I followed the instructions on Apple's Support page for transferring music to a tee. I even started the process over a few times just to make sure I did it right. Each time, however, home share libraries only showed up on my old PC. So basically my old PC (Win7) is sharing its own library with itself, which is utterly pointless. No libraries are showing up on my new PC (Win8). In fact, I don't even see the home sharing icon. Both PCs have iTunes 11.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Should I just give up and use my external hard drive?

First of all make sure you have backups of bookmarks that you make yourself, and put them somewhere safe outside Firefox paths (The Windows Desktop will do for now) In fact I strongly advice you go further than that and back up the whole Firefox profile immediately. See

The immediate priority is t make safe any bookmarks that you do have. It is important to realise that restoring bookmarks wipes out the existing internally stored bookmarks, and that Firefox's internal backups may only cover a few days.
You may find that icons come back if when you visit a site from a bookmark you click the star to first to unbookmark and then again to bookmark. That is not a good workaround, but at least it is safe and not endangering any stored bookmarks.
Make the backups then we will try later to solve the problem of missing icons.

add your release date manually if it isn't there.
unfortunatly iTunes won't let you do it. i use a program called "TvTagger". just search google, third result from top, that's the one. you have to enter a release date like this: YYYY-mm-dd . I did it and I think it's worth the hassle. not only are your shows sorted correct, but the ugly "Unknown Release Date" line is replaced by the actual release date

My contacts are only showing phone number, all my contact info is missing

Do you maybe have your contacts separated into groups? If so, perhaps you have unchecked the group that the missing contact are in.
In the Contacts app, click the Groups button in the upper left corner. Make sure all groups have a check mark next to them.

Why does my mac retina only show shared graphics card in about this mac?

Im completely new to mac's bought this mbp retina 15 and in about this mac it only shows intel 4000 shared 512mb graphics and in system report it does show the GT 650 M but when I novabenched it it only showed the intel one again.

Your Mac switches between graphic cards when needed, so About this Mac and third-party applications detect the graphic card that is being used at the moment, in your case, the integrated graphic card.
If you want to use your dedicated graphic card, open System Preferences > Energy Saver, and disable the option to switch graphic cards. Also, you can use gfxCardStatus > http://gfx.io

Just bought the Mac Book Pro 17" - set up all OK but the applications are only showing on a small screen size, not full screen - the background is still visible as a margin - how do I take the view to full screen corner to corner so to speak.

Have you just moved over from WIndows?
This is standard on Macs. The ability to see more than one window at a time. Some apps - like iPhoto, Aperture etc - have a Full Screen mode. Check out the View menu.
Drag the lower right hand corner to resize the window.
