Common segment postngs

Dear all,
I have a special question on the segment reporting. Currently we have so many segments and each company is busy in more than one segment. Which means every transactions should be tagged to the corresponding segments. For the unidentified transactions, a common segment will be prompted by the system in the means of Constant. During the month end, these line items should be re assigned to the original segments/profit centers to nullify the common segment.
Like, re post CO line items in the CO modules (for expenditure line items), do we have any option to re post to the original profit center/segment (for B/S items or other than CO line items), in the other words, do we got any solution to transfer the values from one profit center to another profit center by using the same G/L account?
Please give me your valuable suggestion
Thanks & Regards,
RK

Dear All,
Thank you very much for your kind suggestions.
My requirement is to re post the Balance sheet items from one profit center to another profit center without specifying any ledger, which means the transfer posting should update all the ledgers. Besides, this will take place for inter segment postings (more or less) to picture complete balance sheet, the document splitting procedure will split the line items taken place and it will generate the additional clearing line items to balance the balancing field (segment). In this process, I found that SAP has given a new concept called "G/L Allocations" where the cycle will be created at ledger level, which means when do the G/L allocation from one ledger to another ledger, then where is the meaning of ledger specific postings as the system will decrease the balance from the source ledger and will add the balances to the target ledger which is not required. If you see from Segment dimension, it is correct. But if see from Ledger dimension, it is wrong I guess.
In this context, please advice me
Thanks & Regards,
RK

  • How to define common segments across multiple SOB's

We are considering an implementation approach with multiple SOBs for the various entities under the umbrella organization, since each manages itself differently. However, we still need to define a SOB for consolidating the data from the entities. Other than reporting needs, what factors should be considered for determining accounting flexfield segments that are common across the entities, and therefore should be in each SOB? Any other considerations?

    Hi Shelia!
This is a broad question. The main thing to keep in mind is that each set of books should have a unique balancing segment value defined for it and defined at the set of books level when defining the accounts in your Set of Books form.
For example, if you have 3 companies that all share the same chart of accounts structure, the Balancing Segment (Company Segment) should be somethig like:
    01 for Company 1
    02 for Company 2
    03 for Company 3
Then, when you define each company's set of books, make sure you use the corresponding segment value for each.
So, the Retained Earning Account would be 01-3500----- for Company 1's set of books and Retained Earnings will be 02-3500 for Company 2's set of books.
If all of you sets of books reside on a single database instance, and they all share the same chart of accounts, you will NOT need to define a separate consolidation set of books. You can create FSG reports to consolidate the data across sets of books on a single instance.

  • EMail Marketing Question

    Hello,
As a first-time user/admin of email marketing On Demand, I wanted to pose a question for the group.
It's apparent that you can only load "Contacts" as recipients of email campaigns, but what if you wanted to load "Leads" instead? I realize that Segmentation Wizard is the quick answer, but let me explain further.
Our organization attends a lot of trade shows, and in advance, we receive lists to which we can send pre-conference emails to a large pool of contacts/leads we've never been in contact with. Given the fact they're unqualified, I consider them a "lead."
However, there's no single field value to which I'd filter these leads by in Segmentation wizard. Essentially the easiest thing to do was import a list of recipients to a campaign. However, as I mentioned earlier, this isn't possible because they have to be contacts (our organization doesn't consider someone a contact until they're qualified in order to cut down on bad names being converted/added to the system).
Are there any best practices out there for helping me solve the issue about how to upload large numbers of leads who don't share a common segment (other than they are attending the same conference)?
    Thank You!

I think Oracle doesn't look at it the same way you do. We're in a similar position. We would add new Leads, then create the Contacts and Accounts when we converted to Opportunites. Contacts did not play a significant role for us. (Our contacts and leads have a 1-to-1 relationship as a practical matter.)
So, I guess I would ask you how you're adding the new names (as Leads). If you're importing them, just import them as Contacts first. If you give them an External Unique ID, you can easily add associate them when you import them as Leads.
It's not ideal, but I have found a different solution without using the Contacts.

  • Inter-as L2 multi sites

    Hi
I need MPLS inter-as L2 Communication between different AS. Point to multipoint, multipoint to Point, like a big L2 cloud.
Like a Lan connected to 2 PE for router redundancy, it need to have L2 to other sites in different MPLS AS.
VPLS? eVPN? with something to handle inter-as
Using ASR 9001 In core and between core and ASR 901 out in the field.
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Glad to see it worked.
To my knowledge, the LDP Router ID is actually used as an IP address, i.e. when LDP contacts a peer, it sends packets towards its Router ID (RID) as an IP address. This brings up various sorts of problematic behavior:
If the interface from which the RID was borrowed is not advertised in a routing protocol, the LDP session fails because it tries to connect to an IP address for which there is no known route.
If a targeted LDP session is established, it must be established towards the RID of the destination LSR as an IP address. Otherwise, the targeted LDP session will not be built and the following error message may be displayed:
    *Mar  1 00:02:16.043: %ATOM_TRANS-4-CONFIG: 10.255.255.1 mismatches the peer router id 10.0.12.1
In this example, the 10.255.255.1 was an IP address specified in the xconnect command while the LDP RID of that router was 10.0.12.1.
LDP for packet-based IP networks uses per-platform label space, i.e. regardless of the ingress interface, the label assignment to a particular FEC is identical. However, the router itself may have several interfaces and several IP addresses, and it is hence possible to have several ways to contact this peer, especially over common segments. Therefore, it is prudent to establish only a single session if possible, because the label mappings advertised through multiple LDP peerings would still be the same. This is accomplished by contacting the neighbor under its single LDP RID. This is the underlying reason behind the requirement of matching the contacted router's IP address with the LDP RID.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • Difference Btw Secondary cost allocation and activity allocation

    Hi All
Can anyone let me understand what is the difference between Secondary cost allocation, activity allocation and direct cost allocation? I will be thank full if some one elaborate it with practical example.
    Thanks

    cbairi wrote:
    Hi,
Can someone explain what is the difference between cost allocation and accounting flexfields.
Cost Allocation Flexfield is used in Payroll and Account flexfields are used in Financials. Basic difference is that you may want to charge to the same GL number even though the cost is coming from two different cost centers. Like say Overtime and Regular Hours Costs.
But it is always recommended that you use the same value sets for the common segments
For instance let us say an employee A is assigned to a payroll P and the employee has a default code comibination(i.e the accounting flexfield) information. Now all the costs incurred on this employee will go to the accounts defined in the accounting flexfield. It will not automatically go to the accounting flexfields but you have to map cost allocation flex with GL Flex and then run the transfer process.
let us know if it explained your doubts or not.

  • I'm desperately needing advice to a common question.  I use Quicken and love it.  But the Mac version is not as great as the PC.   Has anyone installed it by segmenting their Mac with Parallels or Fusion or Boot camp.  If so, which one do you recommend.

I'm desperately needing advice.  New Mac.   Used Quicken on my PC.  Researched all software for Financial programs and Quicken is still the most recommended.   I want to use Quicken on my Mac.  The Mac version is not highly rated so I would need to partition my Mac.   Has anyone done this for their quicken program and if so, which partitioning program did you use - Parallels, Fusion ware or Boot camp?
    Thx

Thanks.  Hadn't heard of it. ?  Is there any concern installing this free program on my Mac.    Have you used it?  Apart from being free is there any other advantage of Parallels and VMfusion. ?
Virtual Box is safe and well developed, it offers similar or identical features to the paid competition, it may be a little less polished but that's all.
Download and try it out, nothing to lose (except time).

  • Free Oracle Tool to Simplify Commonly Run Dictionary Queries

(orastat has a very good 'Hot Blocks' query)
    Hi,
My co-workers and I at Agilent Technologies have developed a
useful tool to simplify running common dictionary queries. It
runs on UX and requires that you be the "oracle" user. You can
    download it from

For example, if you wanted info about a certain table, you could
query DBA_TABLE, DBA_INDEXES. With our tool "orastat", you would
just run 'orastat -ti <OWNER>.<TABLE>. Example:

If the application uses a single database session, you can also generate a SQLTrace file to analyse with tkprof by using either Oracle Enterprise Manager to turn on SQL Trace for the session, or use DBMS_MONITOR SESSION_TRACE_ENABLE(session_id, serial_num) - you then have to find the trace file on the datbaas eserver USER_DUMP_DEST and either read manually (the queries are easily visible) or use tkprof to analyze it Using Application Tracing Tools  Among other things tkprof can tell you the top resource consuming SQL statements.

  • GNU compiled app crashes with signal 11: Segmentation Fault

    Hi Community,
I know this is not a GNU oriented forum, but maybe this is a common issue.
We have a C++ multi-threaded application running properly in Solaris 9 Sparc. Due to some issues mostly related to the NICs we needed to have the application running in Solaris 10 x86. The problem is that the compilation is ok (always with GNU) but during run time, we have the application crashing in different instructions because of a signal 11.
It always crashes in a malloc call within the libstdc++.so.6
It was compiled with the option -mt and -lthread. Is this a known problem? Do you recommend any direction to start seeking for a solution?
Pls, find attached the gdb outcomes after the crash.
    Thanks in advance, Pablo

A crash in malloc in multi-threaded code could be a bug in the system malloc or a failure to use a thread-safe malloc. The default Solaris malloc in /usr/lib/libc.so.* is thread-safe.
A crash in malloc can also be caused by a heap corruption. Probably the most common causes of heap corruption are
    - writing beyond the bounds of a buffer or variable (off by one, for example)
    - deleting the same object more than once
    - using an invalid pointer:
    --- uninitialized
--- pointing to a deleted object
--- pointing to an out-of-scope object
    - failure to guard a critical region
    - failing to declare shared objects as volatile

  • Cash Discount in Segmentation Accounting

    Hi Experts,
I'm using B1 2007 B. I have defined segments in Coa for Branches and Division. I have 4 branches and 5 Divisions. Now I require that I want to post the cash discount also based on this segmentation. ie I want seperate cash discount received/allowed account to be debited or credited each at the time of payment (incoming / outgoing) based on the invoice.
I have noticed that the cash discount account is taken fromG\L account determination so that it will be common for all branches/division. Is there any method or workaround?
    Please Advise.............
    Thanks & Regards
    Jaics

Remove the Cash Discount Account from the G/L Account Determination Window.
Now when you post a Incoming/ Outgoing Payment, System will show an Error, 'No Cash Discount Account is Defined'.
Now set the Cash Discount Account in the G/L Account Determination Window and post the Incoming/ Outgoing Payment.
After Payment is done, Remove the Cash Discount Account from the G/L Account Determination Window.

  • Converting segments of MS Word doc to lists.

I am pasting MS Word docs into my web page. There are segments of the doc that have names, placed initially by setting and using the tab key. there may be 3 columns of first and last names. HOW... can I align these when I copy them.  This must be a common problem.. can someone point to a decent complete tutorial? or... for example.. the steps to turn the following into aligned text on my web page
Shareholders:     Tom Jones                    Bill Strong          Ralph Smith
Susan Bright                 Mary Shoe         Paul Windy
                              Joe Blow
Here then would be another paragraph to be included but is not part of the list.
Any help most appreciated.... getting very frustrated trying to find the trick on my own. From what I have read... it seems I "should" be able to select a number of words.. apply a class and have the padding move it  the required number of pixels... I would need 3 different classes to pad to 3 different locations... That does not work consistently... sometimes it does.. sometimes it does not. From what I have read I "should" also be able to use the make list feature... tried that in HTML then use CSS to remove the bullet.. well that sort of works but I can not capture the second and third rows of names. I can see using an AP div... but that seems really complicated... there must be an easy way

    Hi Ralph,
Please use the Copy/Paste settings in DW Prefereces to set this up. If you need just the structure with basic formatting from your word doc then choose option 3rd and if you want exactly as that in word then use option 4th.
Just try these options and see what suits you best.

    Vinay

  • EDI segment number - correlate with the corresponding EDI segment

    Hi,
In an EDI transaction we get an error log which says the mandatory data in segment 65, mandatory data in segment 815 is missing. Can anyone throw some light on how to get the correct EDI segment & field based on this piece of info?
    regards
    Prabhu

Seems like the EDI tool that you are using can provide you only with general reference to the error position and cause.
At one of my clients is using a software named EDI SIM where all the warnings and error
regarding an EDI message can be seen and read.
I suggest that if this is a common thing - you should get one as well or use
SAP Conversion agent (ItemField),SeeBurger EDI adapter to get the exact error position and cause.

    Hi DFy,
This kind of error is usually caused by tools.jar not being in the appserver's classpath. See KM Note 1395735.1.

  • Cost Centre and Account Segmentation

    Dear Experts,
Our client's requirement is to take profitability branch wise, department wise.
Can we use Cost Center or we can enable account segmentation.  Which is the best way.
As per SAP notes, it is stated that account segmentation is used for branch wise, region wise, department wise arriving balance sheet, profitability.
Which will be the appropriate way.  What is the advantage and disadvantages if we cost center or account segmentation.
    Thank You,
    Sundaram R

Hi Senthil, this is what I have experienced.
Segmentation may be mandatory in USA, for other countries they are optional.
For some who are playing the role of accountant in the company, they find it hard to comprehend the segmentation rule. In which case it is best to convert their current single segment profit center oriented chart of account to map into SAP B1.
Segmentation may be too complicated for smaller companies and one or two ware houses, mainly because to best use the segmentation, the accounts in G/L determination and warehouse determination and item determination need to be configured properly for segmented chart of account.  At times the customer will have to choose a segment for manual JE, and it is not that simple if they are not used to the idea of segments.
There will be situations when certain segments do not make sense and yet you need to have them as zeros or something common while implementing it. You may end up creating too many segments or too few at the beginning. If too many it is not a good sight with useless accounts, if too few, they creating new accounts needs planning.
I would leave the option to customer and as consultant it also depends upon your own experience.
    Hope that helps.

  • Segment reporting view in FBL1N

    Dear Friends,
We have segment reporting and each plant is a different segment.
Our various plants deal with common vendor and have same vendor code
I need to see the segment view of one vendor in FBL1N report
Hence i added "Segment" as a field in SPRO - as below
Path: FA(New) -->GL (New) --> Master Data --> GL Accounts -->Line Items --> Define special fields for line item display.
    Table: BSEG
    field: SEGMENT
    save the changes.
I still cannot see SEGMENT in selection options after executing FBL1N.
    Kindly assist, Thanks
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
I am not aware which version of SAp you are working with.. But if you are working with new GL active for your company code, then you will not see Segment view in FBL1N. Instead use report  "S_PCO_36000219 - Payables: Segment "
Now the question, that why even after adding to special fields it is not displaying.. it is because, this Config node would pick up data from BSEG table, so only if you have entered segment manually at the time of posting, it would show after adding to Special fields.
This segment in the baove report is picked up from FAGL* tables.
    Hope it clarifies..
    Regards,
    SAPFICO
