• "Channel started but inactive" in RWB Monitor for SOAP sender channel

Dear XI specialists,
I have configured a communication scenario involving SOAP Adapter (sender) usage, but I'm facing the issue when testing the scenario. The problem is that none of messages are coming into the SOAP Adapter (checked via TCode SXI_MONITOR in XI) when using 3rd party SOAP-clients (XML Spy, soapUI) based on WSDL-file generated and exported from XI.
I checked the sender communication channel for SOAP Adapter - it is activated in Integration Builder's Directory. SOAP Adapter itself is also started.
I checked Runtime Workbench monitors and in the Communication Channels Monitor of the Components Monitor received the warning saying "Channel started but inactive" for my configured channel as well as for other channels working on SOAP Adapter.
Activities which were performed (in the order in which they were performed and results tested):
1. the configuration channel restart;
2. the communication channel re-activation and further re-start;
3. SOAP Adapter restart;
4. XI system's Java instance restart.
All mentioned activities didn't give any positive effect in part of this issue resolution.
On the other hand, if I use test message functionality of the Runtime Workbench (Component Monitor), then messages are seen in SXI_MONITOR and expected response messages are also returned to XI from integrated business system.
Would you please advise what can be checked else here and where the root of the problem may be detected?
All your answers and feedback will be greatly appreciated and awarded accordingly.
Many thanks in advance and my regards,
Vadim

Dear all,
Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, the problem still exists after testings and checkings which you suggested.
TO Seshagiri:
I checked message monitor and found only several messages for the required sender/receiver services pair in the used namespace - all of them were successfully processed (these are messages which I sent by means of RWB Component Monitor's test message functionality).
TO Sarvesh:
Yes, sender agreement is configured properly. I configured it when configuring communication scenario in the Configuration Wizard and then manually re-checked its definition. Moreover, when performing Test Configuration in ID, I received positive results.
TO Nallam Guna:
I cleared Data Cache in Integration Builder, but this didn't help.
TO Gujjeti:
I'm on SAP NetWeaver 2004s PI 7.0. Service Pack level for PI is 13.
TO Durga:
Thank you for provided links! I have already had a look at them - but proposed solutions doesn't seem to be working in my situation.
Thank you all once again for your prompt answers! I really appreciate your attempts in helping me!
I would appreciate if you could share any further ideas on this issue.
My best regards,
Vadim

• Custom Adapter - No content in Communication channel Monitoring for JCA

HI,
We have developed a Custom Adapter for our client in XI with name JCA and it is working absolutely fine.
Issue: We are not getting any entries in Communication Channel Monitoring for success or Error Messages.
We have used Audit log for success or Failure entries and they are coming fine in Messaging System but there coule be a standard way to get entries in Channel Monitoring.
Our client needs the entries in CC monitoring instead of Customised Audit Logs.
Please help.
REgards,
Anurag Garg

HI Satish,
Thanks for answer. I am looking for this in Custom Adpater not in adapter module.
This log creates a trace File . Its not to do with getting messages in CC monitoring as we do get for File Adapter or other Adapters.
Like- Message Successfully put into the queue.
- Successfully processed.
Such Messages are there in sample_ra. jar file code but they are not visible in CC Monitoring.
I think some extra code needs to be added to activate this in Monitoring.
Please suggest.

• Payload not visible in cc monitoring for SOAP-RFC synchronous AAE scenario

Hello consultants,
I have a synchronous SOAP-RFC scenario over the AAE (Java only). When I test the service in WSNAVIGATOR the response message contains an error that results in the error message:
"<s:SystemError xmlns:s="http://sap.com/xi/WebService/xi2.0">
<context>XIAdapter</context>

ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION

<text>
java.io.IOException: Parsing Error: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed." the same errror is present in communication channel monitoring for the SOAP adapter.
The status in message monitoring however is succesful.
Is it possible to check the payload for the response message of the RFC call. In CC monitoring I cannot access the payload, it is not there. It does not have to be in cc monitoring, anywhere would be fine.
Since this is an AAE scenario there are no messages in SXMB_MONI.
All tips are appreciated.

• Configure Interface channel monitoring for PI in SOLMAN 7.1

Hi Experts,
I am configuring interface channel monitoring for PI in SOLMAN 7.1.In step 5 (Define scope) it is asking to select scenario.I can see all PI systems (Dev,QA and PRD) is listed in the table with "monitoring and alerting setup status" as yellow.when I select PI (prod) and proceed , in step 6.3 (Interface channel Monitoring config) I don't find any channel name in table.I need your support to clear my understanding on this.
1)My objective is to monitor all the interfaces that are existing between PI system and other SAP as well as non SAP systems (that include JDBC connections also). How can find all these interfaces in solman while doing Interface channel monitoring config?
2)I am not sure if I have understood correctly that I need to create scenario that includes technical systems between which Interface channel are to be monitored. If I am correct then how can I bring the technical system to SOLMAN SLD from Local SLD of PI(prod). Here I am not getting option to synchronize SOLMAN SLD from PI Local SLD. Even Import option is also not there. Do I need to create all the Technical systems (present in PI) to SOLMAN SLD manually?
If my understanding is not correct then please guide me through steps to do the configuration to achieve my objective.
Thanks
Aditya Roushan.

yes, the problem solved. thanks for your replies all.
the users SLDDSUSER and SLDAPIUSER got locked, I changed it in su01.
and I created rfc in SM59 for SAPSLDAPI and LCRSAPRFC and create the same in JCo RFC provider.
both are working.
but iam facing new problem.
I have solution manager 7.1 system and I configured local SLD. I did not connect any managed system as of now.
after all the trouble shooting, SLDAPICUST and SLDCHECK is fine but
the error is
"Functional call returned exception code 3"
"Access to XI Profile currently disrupted.
I have solution manager 7.1, I did not configure managed systems as of now. is this error belongs to solution manager 7.1 or for PI system.
can u please guide me how to trouble shoot this error. check the following screen shot for reference.
thanks in advance.

• PI 7.0: Message prioritisation in adapter engine for SOAP adapter.

Hi All,
We have both high and low priority synchronous messages using the SOAP sender Channel of the Central AE.
How can we make sure that High Prio messages ALWAYS get a thread right away when entering the AE? Installing a separate AE is not an option.
When I look in RWB->Component Monitoring->Adapter Engine->Engine Status in the Queues tab, I see this:
SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/SystemCall Yes 5(5) 5
SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/SystemRqst Yes 5(5) 5
When a new High Prio message enters, it can take more than one hour before it gets processed, because there are 1000 Low Prio messages also using the same 5 available Threads...
This delay is of course unacceptable for High Prio messages.
I checked in many other threads in SDN, looks like we cannot priortise for particular messages in PI 7.0, as we can do only at adapter level, not at interface level.
I was thinking of going to the approach which was suggested by "Gr, Wout" in the below thread.
xi prioritization in adapter engine (ae, af, adapter framework, java, jca)
Creating own adapter "MYSOAP" by copying the metadata of SOAP adapter. By that we can use our own adapter "MYSOAP" for high priority interfaces.
what you think guys about this approach?
Is there any thing I need to take care going through this approach apart from copying SOAP metadata into my own adapter.?
Thanks
Deepthi

• Setting interface name dynamically from client for SOAP Adapter...

Hi,
does anyone have experience in setting the sender interface name in the HTTP-SOAP request dynamically? I have followed the instructions in "How To Use the XI 3.0 SOAP Adapter" on page 17 (see also SAP Note 856597) which say:
"If you select Use Encoded Headers and Use Query String,
[...]The sender SOAP adapter creates the XI message header according to the
information provided in the query string. [...] In the sender SOAP adapter, you can use only some of the parameters, but the first
parameter must always be the version. For example, you send from the Web service client to the following URL: http://<host>:<j2ee-port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=<party>:<service>:
&version=3.0&Interface=http%3A
%2F%2Fsap.com%2Ftest%5ETest
This will overwrite the default interface and namespace of the sender channel."
This is exactly what I need! However, what I actually get as a response following this description is a SOAP:Fault with a java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1.
Has anyone got this to work properly?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your input. I am using the following format for the call (with "x" standing for one letter each):
http://xix.xxx.xx.xxx:5xx00/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=:xx_xxx_xxx_xxxx:xx_xxx_x_SOAP_S&version=3.0&Interface=http%3A%2F%2Fxxxxxxxx.xx%2Fxxxxxx%2Fxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx%5Exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Anything wrong with that? With unchecked "Use Encoded Headers" and "Use Query String" it works fine (default interface) but as soon as I set these flags I get the SOAP-Fault response.
We are on XI 3.0 SPS18.

• Getting invalid content type for SOAP: TEXT/HTML exception for Soap Adapter

HI,
see
• Q: What character encoding is supported by the SOAP sender adapter?
A: The SOAP sender adapter can accept any character encoding supported by the local JDK. When you are using a particular character encoding with content type text/xml, you must make sure that the encoding name given in the content type and in the XML declaration must be consistent. What makes this more complex is that the default values. The default encoding for "text/xml" is US-ASCII, whereas the default encoding for the XML declaration is UTF-8 or UTF-16. The following examples show several valid combinations of content-type and XML declartion:
text/xml

text/xml; charset='utf-8'

text/xml; charset='utf-8'
no declaration
text/xml; charset='iso-8859-1'

application/xml

The response message from the SOAP sender is normally encoded in UTF-8. If you want to change this encoding, for instance to iso-8859-1, you can supply the encoding information with the xmlenc variable in the request URL as in:
http://host:port /XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=p:s:c&xmlenc=iso-8859-1

• Login Module configuration for soap adapter ?

Hi Guys,
I have configured XISOAPAdapter for client certificate Authentication and i have created 1443 as the HTTPS port on the ABAP stack and defined this port in the instance profile.
Under SSL provider i have selected 50101 as the HTTPS port and the user mapping to the certificate works fine and i was able to login directly.
https://host:50101/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet - I was able to login with the user mapping to certifcate.
but when i try https://host:1443/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet - it is asking for the basic password authentication and the automatic login with the certifcate is not working. Our customer will be using this url to send messages to soap adapter.
under policy configurations for XISOAPAdapter, i have defined only clientcertificateloginmodule and define the rule as Rule1.getUserFrom=wholecert.
any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Srini

Hi,
We also experienced that limitation when a vendor is connecting to our XI SOAP Sender Adapter. It is asking for basic username/password. What we did was to create a Generic XI user with a password on it and use SSL authentication at the same time. Our Scenario was PI --> XI --> SAP R3, with the PI system using an HTTP RFC destination with a Basic Logon and Active SSL option to connect to the same system as yours https://host:portnumber/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
Let me know if this helped...

• Problems using access control in sender agreement for SOAP adapter 7.1

I am trying to use Access Control Lists to restrict user access to web services/interfaces which are exposed via PI. This can be configured via the Integration Builder Directory using the u201CAssigned Usersu201D tab of both Communication Components (Business System) and Sender Agreements.
The configuration is via the above mentioned components. However, I understand that itu2019s the adapters which at runtime are responsible for actually applying these checks.
I have been having problems getting the access control to work using a setup involving a SOAP adapter of type SAP BASIS 7.10.
The symptom of the problem is that although the access control works as expected at the Business System level, any settings at the Sender Agreement level appear to have absolutely no effect whatsoever.
I have confirmed that I have no problems if I use an adapter of type SAP BASIS 7.00. However, I really need to get this working on 7.1.
I have looked on the SAP support portal but can not find any notes that relate to this.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? And have you found a fix for it?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
