Communication Channel Archiving

Hi Gurus,
I need help in determining a problem in the archiving process of communication channels. The messages does not return any errors and I am uncertain where to investigate further to find the cause of the problem. Here is my issue:
Everyday there is a batch job in SM37 (report RFKKCOL2) that executes in ISU system and this will produce 3 image files which is thrown to PI for message processing (so that we will have a confirmation that is is processed, more like of a copy) and FTP it to a box. This is currently happening but the Image file is NOT being created completely. I am not exactly sure if the image files are experiencing the errors on the message processing since that messages in PI is not throwing errors, or the problem is in the archiving process. After the communication channel picks up the file, it is set to archive it to the same box.
Since last week, in the image target folder in OS, there are 6,082 individually images equalling to 269 MB or 282,959,479 B; and in the directory of the image archive there is a file called Image<date>.001 which compresses all the 269MB worth of pictures for that day into 1 file and it is expected that it should be the same size but it is actually only 567 KB or 581,129 B, there is a big short fall here. Where is the problem coming from? This just has happened suddenly without any system changes or any programs changes. This issue has been happening for several days consecutively now.
Please advise.
Thank you in advance

Hi Marie,
There is a slight difference between Polling interval (secs) and Polling interval (msecs).  Polling Interval is the time your adapter keeps looking for the file.
Polling interval (msecs) is time to wait before the file picks up. As an example if the file  is getting picked up by file adapter and you have 100 records in the file send to you by legacy system in the source folder, and right now it has only 30 records and the source application is still writing this file then if you dont give this parameter, the file adapter picks up 30 records. So your integraion is not completely done. So if you specify this parameter for 100ms then before the file adapter picks it will see the size of the file and after 100ms it will once again see the size. If there is difference then it will once again see after 100ms. So till it has the same size it will not pick up. This is very important setting for file adapter.

    Hi,
    Looks like your archivelog space is exhausted. Increase the db_recovery_file_dest_size size and check.

  • Query regarding OS Command in Receiver Communication Channel

    Hi All,
    Consider the following  :
    1. Sender communication channel picks up file <abc.txt> from /files/in directory. The CC is configured to archive the file in the location /files/archive.
    2. Resulting Message is processed successfully in integration engine.
    3. Receiver communication channel is configured to place the file in target directory /files/out, and the Run OS command after message processing is set as : "/scripts/FTP_SCRIPT.pl %F".
    The above scenario works fine, but I do not understand why it works. :).
    I can see (by looking at logs maintained by the script FTP_SCRIPT.pl) that in step 3 %F passes "/files/in/abc.txt" as a parameter.
    I believe that the file should not be available in the "in" folder because the sender communication channel would have already archived it. Why is it available?
    In what order is XI processing steps 1-3 in the background?

    Hello,
    If you have selected Adaper Specific message attributes in both the adapters(File sender/Receiver), the same file name which is currently being used will be passed to the place holder '%F' .
    and you might have selected RUN OS command before message processing.
    Just confirm.
    Regards,
    Sreenivas.

  • NegativeArraySizeException in Sender Communication Channel

    Hello PI world
    I have an error in a communication channel that I don't understand :
    The interface is a simple mapping from a FTP server to a SAP IDoc.
    The files are archived in the SAP PI server using the CC configuration :
    CC Type : File FTP Sender (SAP BASIS 7.11)
    Processing Mode : Archive
    Archive Directory : /[directory on our file system]
    Archive is not on the FTP Server but in our file system.
    This configuration is working with a local FTP server and a distant FTP server that we have.
    But it's not working with a distant FTP on a AS400 system (where I have no admin access).
    The processing "Delete" is ok, but with the configuration above, we have this error in the communication channel :
    Could not process due to error: java.lang.NegativeArraySizeException
    Is this an error from SAP PI system or a mistake in the distant FTP server configuration (AS400).
    I didn't find any similar problem in SDN.
    Thanks for your help.
    Jeremy.

    Hello there,
    we face the exact same problem on SAP PI 7.11 SP 4.
    XIAF is on 1000.7.11.4.4.20100106234100
    Is there any solution on this for PI 7.11?
    Note 1297495 is not for 7.11.
    Note 893762 is not for 7.11.
    SAPXIAF04 patch #6 does not show me (at least not in SWDC) any solution to this problem. Or is there with a later patch?
    Thanks a lot,
    Matthias

  • Sender Communication Channel Problem

    Hi,
    We have some issues with respect to files picking up and getting archived without processing.
    Interestingly, there is no trace in comm monitor except for Processsing started and Processing Finished.
    It doesnt happen at all times, moreover we need to reprocess the same file again and again until XI picks it up for processing,
    The only think i dont understand is that how those files are picked and archived without processing.
    Also note that I have configured multiple file names to be picked in the communication channel.
    Please help me in this regard.
    Krish

    Hello Guys,
    Thanks for your suggestions.
    I have already made all these checks whether any other scenario runs with the same directory configuration.
    Moreover the interesting point is that there is no log in the communication channel.  The files are just getting archived without a log.
    Moreover, I had checked in my Development and Test Environment whether any other interface is referring the same directory or not.
    One more thing which i found out was when the file path is been changed to some other directory , it works well, I believe this is something to do with the FTP server directory, some authorizations or permissions.
    But still, From xi point of you, it is confusing that how it can be archived without being processing.

  • Wildcarrd character in file communication channel ( Run OS Command Option )

    We have problem while executing the "move ( MV ) "  command with wildcard character ( '*' )  in file communication channel (Run Operating System command option ). Command is not executing properly.
    e.g. mv /archive/test* /output/
    have anyone experienced the same problem ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dijesh Tanna.

    As far as i know, that doesnt work.
    In Unix environment, the below code will work
    name=`test*`
    target=`xxxfolder`
    file_list=`find $name -type f`
    for fname in $file_list ; do
        echo "Moving: " $fname
        mv -Eignore $fname $target
    done

  • Communication Channel marked all files as being read on FTP

    The Mailbox FTP has all the files flagged as being read when a single file is read through a communication channel.  I manually unflagged the status field so all files had a status of N so none were pulled.  I had 14 files for this test flagged as N.   I turned off all our CCu2019s.  I activated one that was pulling the last file in the list based on the Service Ref# which is unique file name.  I refreshed the dir of the FTP several times as the CC was running.  One by one as the flag was changed to Y (file read) from top to bottom.  It only took a second for each one until it got to three very large files and the status stopped while it was reading the file.  After a minute it continued to change the flag until it read the last one.   All 14 files on the ftp now had the status flag changed to Y.  It appears it actually read the file content one by one and set the flag until it was done.  Do you have any ideas why it would do this?  From a dos prompt I donu2019t have any of these issues so Iu2019m guessing itu2019s something unique in the SAP FTP adapter that is doing it?
    From a dos prompt I can successfully do a get 003520827870964903 c:data.txt and it will only update that ST flag for that one file as being read.  I can also do a get %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 c:data.txt  and it will only flag the four files as being read that have that Mailbox/APRF value.  Now I'm trying to get my CC to do the same but no matter what I try it marks all six files as being read.   I have in my source directory %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 and * for a file name and this will mark all files as being read when activated.   I have entered 003520827870964903 for a file name to further qualify and it still marks all files as being read.  It seems to be getting the file I want cause when I view the communication channel monitor it shows the right data in the payload but it always refers to another file for the archive / delete / test option from the processing tab.  There are no problems having a CC write a file out using similar parms for Mailbox/APRF, but trying to read a single file using the Service Ref # or a collection of files using a Mailbox/APRF mask seem to update the status for all files as being read.  Any suggestions are welcome.

    Have you installed any apps that auto display the emails when they come in? If so the auto read feature may be triggering this, I had a app at one time that showed my emails in the preview window and it made the emails be listed as read... I would check your apps and make sure you are not using something like this unknowingly.

  • Communication Channel Error: Help Please.

    Dear SAP Friends,
    May I ask how do I go about resolving the error message I have right now with my two communication channels:
    Configuration error:

    Your prompt response is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi,
    As said above you should check your writing rights. You should use a username which have the rights to write on the given location.
    I hope it will solve your problem. If it solved it please mark your question as answered.
    Best Regards

  • Validate source data at communication channel level only....

    Hello Experts
       I want to validate the source data just after picking the file i.e at communication channel level. The error file or record has to moved to the archive folder. This is my thought correct me if  i am wrong.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Arjun,
    Communication channel only pick up the data,its does not have capability to check the content,if you want to implement this logic for communication channel,writing adapter module is the right option.
    You need to write a logic in EJB Module  to validate the content ,its purely depending on Logic how you are going to write in JAVA.
    if you are using PI7.1 you can validate your payload before picking up the message.
    search in sdn you will find some usefull documents how to write adapter module.
    Regards,
    Raj

  • Open and close communication channel in one link

    Hello,
    I implement with successful the scenario that described in this blog:
    Control Communication Channels Externally without using RWB
    Right now I use with this link to start the CC
    http://aaaa:50000/AdapterFramework/ChannelAdminServlet?party=*&service=Open_Friday_Service_Sender&channel=Open_Friday_Sender&action=start
    And with this link to stop the CC
    http://aaaa:50000/AdapterFramework/ChannelAdminServlet?party=*&service=Open_Friday_Service_Sender&channel=Open_Friday_Sender&action=stop
    I looking for the way to start and stop the communication channel in one link.
    Elad

    hi elan
    i think you need to write an abap program and schedule it..
    abap program will call this HTTP link as The URL has no dependency on where it is called.

  • Using a variable in communication channel

    Hi,
    I have a lot of Communication Channels looking for files in the same directory. This directory's path will be changed soon and so I assume I'll have to change all my Communication Channels.
    I was wondering whether there was a means of using a variable for the Source Directory in order to just have to change its value where it is defined and not every where it is used...
    Regards
    Yann

    Hi,
    Is this a sender file adapter? or a receiver file adapter?
    You can make a change / make the receiver file adapter's directory dynamic by setting the value during runtime in the mapping.
    Use  this blog and the code in the blog to acheive this,
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
    Sender File adapter, I dont think this is possible.

    If I check in the SXMB_MONI in  i'm getting the following message ..  but the URL whicjh i provided that is fine.. but my doubt  is  through XI  may be it's  not able to connect the  Target System... .. so, please suggest me...

    By default, the SOAP adapter sends the SOAP message with the content type text/xml.
    When you check "Do not use SOAP envelope", the default contnet type is application/xml.
    You can change the content type like this: Go to the SOAP receiver communication channel module tab. Add the module "localejbs/AF_Modules/MessageTransformBean" before the standard module. Add the parameter name Transform.ContentType and value text/xml.

  • How to set up the communication channel for third party idoc

    Hello,
    I am trying to send an idoc from an sap 4.6c system to an third party system. The third party system is supporting idcos with trfc.
    My problem is to set up the communication channel in the integration builder (configuration) for the third party system. The idoc is waitung in XI to transport.
    My settings are:
    adapter type: idoc
    transport protocol: idoc
    message protocol: idoc
    adapter engine: integration engine
    rfc destination: xyz (is working fine)
    interface version: sap release 4.0 or higher
    port: ??
    sap release 46c
    My problem is the port. should i set up a port in idx1? But the third party is not an sap system and so i dont have a client.
    On the xi i have defined a port in transaction we21 (transactional rfc) for the third party with my rfc destination xyz. But if i enter that port in communication channel i got error messages.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Christian,
    yes, you have to mainztain that port in idx1.
    First ypi load the rfc-metadata from an SAP referenzsystem and afterwards copy this metadata to the third party port.
    For further details check the onlinedocumentation "IDoc Processing with the IDoc Adapter" XI -> runtime -> adapter
    Good luck,
    Holger

  • Convrtd to Invterval Part- ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    Hi all,
    I had a table as Interval Partitioned. In order to create XML- Xpath indexes on it, I converted it to Range Partitioned table.
    I am able to create the XPATH indexes but I get the error: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    - When I revert the code to Interval Partitioned without the XMLIndex, it works fine(although takes time as no XML Index)
    - When I convert table to non partitioned table, create the XML Index, it works fine.
    But I need the partitons, so when I create the partitioned table I get the error.
    CREATE TABLE INT_PART_TABLE
    DB_ID VARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
    xML_mESSAGE SYS.XMLTYPE,
    LOAD_TIMESTAMP TIMESTAMP(6)
    XMLTYPE xML_mESSAGE STORE AS BINARY XML
    PARTITION BY RANGE (LOAD_TIMESTAMP)
    PARTITION MAX VALUES LESS THAN (TIMESTAMP' 2013-06-01 00:00:00')
    TABLESPACE CSTR_STG_DATA
    NOCOMPRESS
    NOCACHE
    ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLINDEX.dropparameter('Indx_Par');
    END;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_XMLINDEX.REGISTERPARAMETER(
    'Indx_Par',
    'PATH TABLE Table1

    end;
    create index INDX_XPATHS on "INT_PART_TABLE" (XML_MESSAGE) indextype is xdb.xmlindex
    parameters ('PARAM Indx_Par') local;
    Now if I execute the following statement in
    SELECT T.xML_mESSAGE
    FROM INT_PART_TABLE1 T
    WHERE XMLEXISTS (
    declare namespace abc="ABCD";
    declare namespacedef="DEFG";
    declare namespace xyz="XYZA";
    let $tt as xs:boolean := fn:exists($p/main/id = ("144283","9085802")])
    return if ($tt) then true()
    else ()'
    PASSING T.xML_mESSAGE AS "p");
    - Is there any other way of writing this Select statement, which may work?
    - Any other thing I need to take care of when defining the table and partitions script so that I don't get this error?

    Hi,
    I think it's time you give a clear (and working) test case so that we can safely try to reproduce the issue.
    What you've given so far has syntax error and name mismatch.
    So please :
    - database version (SELECT * FROM v$version)
    - complete sequence of DLLs
    - some sample XML documents (it doesn't have to be the real ones, but at least something realistic)
    Thanks in advance.
    declare namespace abc="ABCD";
    declare namespacedef="DEFG";
    declare namespace xyz="XYZA";
    let $tt as xs:boolean := fn:exists($p/main/id = ("144283","9085802")])
    return if ($tt) then true()
    else ()'Why all that stuff? You don't have to return a boolean.

    If so, you can use a simple function-based index instead of the XMLIndex :
    SQL> drop index int_part_table_uix;
    Index dropped.
    SQL> create index int_part_table_ix1 on int_part_table (
      2    xmlcast(
      3      xmlquery('/main/id' passing XML_MESSAGE returning content)
      4      as varchar2(10)
      5    )
      6  );
    Index created.
    SQL> SELECT xml_message
      2  FROM int_part_table
      3  WHERE XMLCast(
      4          XMLQuery('/main/id' PASSING xml_message RETURNING CONTENT)
      5          AS VARCHAR2(10)
      6        )
      7  IN ('144283', '9085802');
    XML_MESSAGE
    <main>
      <id>144283</id>
    </main>
    <main>
      <id>9085802</id>
    </main>
