Communication express dates inconsistencies

hello
an user sent some emails via connector on the 3/7 but these emails never arrived. one moth later on the 4/8 this user retyped these emails and sent them again. then she connected to the uwc and in the sent items she could see the emails with date of 3/7 but when she opened them it was in fact the mails van 4/8. I am just wondering what causes this behaviour and how to correct the dates or show the correct messages with the correct dates?
thank you in advance.

I have asked more questions about what they mean never arrived. they just said 'had lost emails'.. Hmm... I'm a little surprised it took over a month before they tried to resend it and bring this to your attention. This alone makes me a little 'suspicious' of their story.
as far as the messages in the message store are concerned. the date in the header is from 4/8. and if i do a ls -l in the folder where these messages are stored, it also shows 4/8, however in communications express, sent items you see them with date of 3/7.You need to be careful of which folders the customer is looking at and which folders you are looking at. Remember that Outlook by default stores emails in the "Sent Items" folder and Comms Express stores them in the "Sent" folder. So make sure the user is actually looking at the correct folder -- this would explain how the dates could be different. Otherwise it isn't possible for an email to have a date header and a timestamp of 4/8 then show as 3/7 in Comms Express.

Shane.

    Ok, I've done it.
In Directory Server I use "dc notation". Suffix is "dc=dept, dc=domain, dc=com" and I put "uid=amadmin, ou=people, dc=dept, dc=....." or "uid=amadmin,ou=people,o=dept.domain.com "as IS Administrator DN (Bind DN for uwc).
When I declared o=isp instead of dc=... as suffix in DS there were no problems (Bind DN: uid=amadmin,ou=people,o=isp). Of course via GUI. Text-based configuration has a bug I think. Anyone has used it?
Anyone can help how can I write Bind DN to use dc suffix?

I found this link http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2662/6n4ufs4db?a=view on changing the Tab order in communications express. But has anyone added a tab? We use Sophos Pure Message for spam filtering and I would like to add a Tab next to "Options" that would take the user to their spam quarantine.

  • Does Portal Server 6 require Communications Express?

I am trying to do the single install for evaluation in this document:
Sun Java Enterprise System Technical Note: Deploying Java Enterprise System on a Single Host for Evaluation 2005Q1
    Part Number 819-2201-10
I undertsand that the OS stated in the doc is solaris 9 but I would like to use solaris 10 or red hat 3. AFAIK all the components are supported by these platforms except communications express which is solaris 9 and red hat 2.
My question is can I integrate messaging, calendar and instant messaging server with portal server without communications express? And I dont understand why all the components work for solaris 10 and red hat 3 except one.

Just my 2 cents here on installing portal server and messaging.
I don't reccommend putting both on the same machine. The Portal Server is quite complex (messaging server is simple by comparison) and you can easily mis-configure Portal Server and lock yourself out of its admin console (I've done it). My PS LDAP has 3200 entries and that's just a base install with NO user data and the sample desktop configured. Keep in mind, the desktop XML is stored in the LDAP, some of those attributes have nearly 2000 lines of data.
I strongly reccommend using Solaris 10 zones for PS. It is great. take a UFS dump at key points, make a mistake, reload in 20 minutes. I've reloaded/rebuilt my PS zone at least 10 times since I started playing with PS 2005Q1. You could put messaging into a seperate zone on the same machine. It just makes life easier.

  • Configuring reports for express data(2)

We are in the process of configuring reports for express data.
In this regard we have done the following steps:
1.In the machine A reports 9i developer suite release 2 has been installed on Windows 2000
Professional Edition with the following utilities - (a) Oracle Reports Builder and runtime
support,(b) Oracle Express Connection Editor and (c) Oracle SNAPI are installed.
2.Express Server 6.3.4 has been installed on Windows 2000 Professional Edition in machine
B with Remote Operation SNAPI 6.3.4.0.
3.Oracle 8i has been installed on Solaris and the Express Support Administrator and User
Accounts have created and the xrb_admin.sql and xrb_user.sql have been run through the
    respective accounts.
    Queries
1.We have still not run the Express Oracle8 External Procedures on the Oracle8
gateway. Should we run this in order to get Express Data in Reports9i incase of the General
Maintenance where the Express data fetches the data from the Oracle8 gateway on the fly
?We are also not able find the Express Oracle8 External Procedures downloads after
extensive search on OTN.Please guide as to where can we find the downloads.
2.What are the configurations settings that have to be done in the tnsnames.ora,sqlnet.ora
    and listener.ora ?

    Ramakrishnan,
Express connectivity for Oracle9i Reports is installed by default as one of your pluggable data sources and it communicated directly with Express, which is a large change over Reports 6i in which you needed an Oracle8i database to talk to the Express database.
For Oracle9i Reports, you need to have:
    1 - Express installed 6.3 or later.
    2 - Oracle9i Reports
3 - The connection dialog (which is documented in the release notes if you need to set this up)
That's it. When you click on the Express PDS to access the data, it will read the connection dialog information and you need to supply the logon information to the Express database.
You should also look at the help topic for Express and you will find all the necessary documentation on configuring Reports and how to connect.

  • Cannot get Outlook Connector work Communication Express style

We are using Sun Messaging server with Communication Express, Outlook Connector, Imap Clients.
And we have problems saving SENT items in one style. Both - IMAP clients and Communication Express works correctly - they saves sent items into folder named "SENT", but I cannot get Outlook Connector work the same way.
I have installed outlook connector (Product Version: 7.3-05.01), and configured it to set system folder names "Communication Express style".
I have set my local file:
    C:\DOCUME~1\<user>\LOCALS~1\Application Data\Sun\Outlook Connector\sjoc_folders.map
    content to:
    [en]
    INBOX=Inbox
    Deleted Items=Trash
    Drafts=Drafts
    Sent Items=SentDoes this goes somewhere?
But nothing helps - Outlook 2007 still uses its own SENT ITEMS folder iwth this name and saves sent items in this folder.

  • Communications Express calendar problem with imported events

I'm evaluating Communications Express from the JES 2005Q1. I imported about a years worth of events (about 30/month) which had been exported from iCS 5.1. After each event had been modified and saved in the new calendar server the Month view now works fine.
So, it would appear that there is some data present or missing from the older exported .ics file that is incompatible with the new version 6.0 of the calendar server. If I look at one of the events modified as descibed above I see only one difference (in addition to the time stamps) and that is the presence of the tag:
    CATEGORIES:Other

We are upgrading to Communications Express from Sun One Calendar Express.
Exporting data from Sun One Calendar Express to Sun Jave Systems Calendar Express works fine; all day events show up, etc
So, the export feature works OK from Calendar->Calendar.
But, when we import the same calendar data into the Communications Express calendar the month view fails. It's only after changing/deleting the all day events does the imported data show in Communications Express in monthly view (the other views are OK).
Isn't the Communications Express calendar really the Sun Java Systems calendar with a different "look"
    What gives?

  • Is there any methods to recover Outlook Express data?

How to recover Outlook Express data, such as mail accounts, news, messages?

    Hi,
Since you posted the question in our forum, there's one thing I need to Confirm: Are we talking about Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express?
Please note, they are different products. In our forum, we provide Support for Microsoft Outlook. If you are using Outlook Express, we are not the best resource.
Anyway, you may refer to How to back up and to restore Outlook Express data and find useful information:

  • Communications Express doesn't create access Manager SSO session

    Hi all,
I'm running Communications Express, Sun Access Manager and Sun messaging server, each on seperate hosts.
Single Sign On works i.e. when users have a valid session and point their browser at the Communications Express URL they can access their mail, calendar and addressbooks without further ado.
When they don't have a valid session though and the users go to the Communications Express URL they get a username and password prompt. If they enter valid credentials they will be logged in, but the session created is only a local session, not an Access Manager SSO session. This behaviour has changed from the previous versions of Comm Exp which wouldn't work at all without SSO.
Is it possible to configure communications express to either redirect users to the Access Manager's authentication page or have Comm Exp create the SSO session on the users behalf?
    TIA
    Herman
    Versions:
    - Communications Express 6.3 update 1
    - Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-4.01 (built Aug 3 2007; 32bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-4.01 (built 17:13:29, Aug 3 2007; 32bit)

    Hi Shane,
as always your anwer is better then I could have expected. A more or less complete manual
just hours after asking my question. Thanks!

The cleanest solution I could develop to address the behavioural change was to
leverage a web-server policy agent to perform the redirections.
I wrote up a guide but never received any feedback unfortunately so results-may-vary.
I have republished this guide externally - feedback is welcome:
http://msg.wikidoc.info/index.php/AM_redirection_using_Policy_AgentTook me some time to implement, test and write feedback:
The setup we have is a little more complex then the a single box scenario you
    have tested on:
From the internet working inwards we have load balanced
SSL accelerators (apache+SSL doing reverse proxy) in front of
dedicated application servers running communications express.
Mail is retrieved from separate mail-store clusters.
Access manager is configured similarly: load balanced SSL accelerators
in front of application servers running the login page (disributed
authentication UI). Those then talk to the access manager cluster.
Firewalls and access lists between each of those layers. None of the
applications can be accessed directly from the internet and they are
limited in what they can access in the DMZ as well.
I followed your recipe to the letter. After a bit of tweaking everything
worked like a charm. Policy agent installed and configured on the
SUN webserver where communications express is deployed.
Instructions were very good on detail and easy to follow.
We deploy uwc in the root of the server not in /uwc. Something I didn't notice right away.
It would seem that the policy agent expects the values com.sun.am.naming.url
(The URL for the Access Manager Naming service) and
com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url (The URL of the login page on the Access Manager
where users should enter their credentials) to be the same host.
In our setup the URL/host users have to use to log in can't be accessed by the policy agent.
The policy agent should verify sessions directly against the access manager cluster.
I played with some of the override settings in the policy agent configuration file but
without much success. Eventually I used the hostname our users have to use to log
in and abused the /etc/hosts file to map the external hostname to the internal address
of the access manager cluster. Users end up on the correct login page, and the policy
agent can verify the sessions. Ugly, but it works.
The other issue is that the policy agent redirects to:
    com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url?goto=URL_Protected_by_Policy_Agent
When a users enters incorrect credentials they get the default login url, without the
goto parameter. (May be bug in access manager or by design...) After entering their
credentials correctly on their second or third try users won't be redirected back to UWC,
but will end up on the default page defined by their iplanet-am-user-success-url LDAP attribute.
I solved that in the policy agents configuration file by adding the gotoOnFail=URL in the
    definition of com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url:
com.sun.am.policy.am.login.url = https://login.domain.com:443/amserver/UI/Login?gotoOnFail=https://uwc.domain.com:443When you enter incorrect credentials you'll be redirected back to uwc (where the policy agent
will again intercept you and send you on to the login page for your next try). May be more of
an issue in the policy agent then your manual.

libimta.so 7.0-3.01 32bit (built 09:08:43, Dec 9 2008)Convergence 1u3 requires MS7u3 and above. You can use the "commpkg upgrade" command to migrate to MS7u3 64-bit.
Sun Java(TM) System Communications Express 6.3 What is the exact patch level of UWC/CE (./showrev -p | grep uwc)?

Are you running UWC/CE and Convergence in the same web-container?
What JDK version is in use by the web-container hosting UWC/CE?

  • Invisible Address Book in Communications Express

In an otherwise complete installation of Communications Express 6.3 , the Address Book tab is completely blank below the standard Communications Express bar . Changing the address book location references in personalstore.properties seems to make little difference . I don't know what log file I ought to check for this .

Oops . I double posted . Ignore this thread .
