Communication problem in Mac Photoshop 11.0.1 (CS4)
I’m using OS10.6.3 Mac, and recently Photoshop can not detect CanoScan 8600F (scanner): I see 8600F in the import menu in Photoshop vers. 11.0.1, but when I select it, I get an error message saying that ‘Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check Status. Scanner driver will be closed. 155.0.0’ - I then click the OK button to close the alert and Photoshop freezes with spinning colored ball and I need to force quit the app. I reinstalled the entire Adobe CS4 as well as 8600fosx12131ej4.dmg, cstbosx5014ej4.dmg, and cstb50oposx101en.dmg, but problem persists. Curiously Canon’s Scanner Toolbox and Arcsoft Photostudio work fine with scanner.
I should mention that I replaced the OS hard disk and used Migration Manager to import previous apps and the like. Before reinstalling CS4, I uninstalled CS4 and deleted all CS4 files from preferences and application support per a suggestion on the web. When I ran Adobe CS4 Clean Script, it reported that there was nothing to delete.
Please advise since I'm out of ideas. Thanks.
Ahh.... now we're getting somewhere.
When it works under one user and not under another..... it's permissions.
You need to check out AppleJack.
You run it in Single User mode and it deep cleans the system cache, and repairs permissions at the Unix Kernel level.
Find it at sourceforge.net
There are instructions for installing and using it.
I'd say there's about an 85% probability that after AppleJack, your scanner will return.

Problems with mac photoshop elements no longer working
I believe this problem started with or shortly after installing snow leopard. But I couldn't access my photoshop elements 6 anymore on my mac. I removed PE 6 (dragged to trash), and tried to reinstall it and now have the following error:

- The installer database is invalid: please re-install the product from the original media.

So I've tried to remove as files associated with PE 6 nothing has helped. I do have the original disk with the serial number etc. I even downloaded the trial of PE 8 for mac, but received the same error. I've been trying to find the answer to this problem, but nothing has helped. Even called Adobe, but they sent me to the wrong area. Sigh.
Any ideas would be welcome. I'm about to give up on photoshop and go with Aperature, but I'd rather not.You can't install PSE 6 or 8 by trashing them. You must use the uninstaller (for PSE 6, that means putting the install disc in and choosing Remove Components rather than Install Components). However, it's too late for that now. This is extremely frustrating! Trying to get a library book onto a Nook and having no luck. I dislike the Adobe approach of requiring a login to this site in order to search the forums.
There are multiple posts on this issue and NONE are answered.
My next e-reader will be another Kindle because of the difficulties Adobe E editions is causing.
Please address these questions Adobe staff.

This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID. -
I upgraded to a new apple mac book pro and now when I try to download to adobe digital edition I receive this error:Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY
What does that have to do with Digital Publishing Suite?

CS3/Mac photoshop.executeScript problem

I am having trouble getting photoshop.executeScript() to work on CS3/Mac. photoshop.executeScript is a simple wrapper for BridgeTalk and I want to call it from InDesign.
I have seen reports of others being unable to get it to work. However, I have also seen reports of people doing InDesign/Photoshop cross DOM scripting.
Using ESTK2 the following 1-line script works with target apps bridge, illustrator and indesign but not photoshop (unless photoshop is also the host):
app.executeScript("alert((12345678).toString());");
I would like to know whether this is a problem specific to my installation.
I have also looked at how BridgeTalkIterator in the Bridge CS3 WasScriptLibrary.jsx does things and can't figure out how I might get photoshop.executeScript to work for me in InDesign.

There is no app.executeScript function in PS.
photoshop.executeScript('alert("testing")') works fine for me from ESTK2 and
from in PSCS3 on XP.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.

I was trying to update to 13.1 from my photoshop through > help > update but this option is off. it is appear gray color. I couldn't click on it. please help me.
Mac Perpetual CS6 current version is 13.0.6 the subscription version is version 13.1.2. How are you trying to update to 13.1.?? do you have a Creative Cloud Subscription?

Communication problem with printer when using Parallels
OK, apologies if this has been asked elsewhere but I've been trawling the forum for an hour and have yet to find the exact problem that I'm having!
First of all, I'm a recent convert to Mac (hurrah I hear you all cry), secondly, I've set up Parallels to deal with some PC left-overs, thirdly, I've tried to use my old Dell printer and realised Dell doesn't support Macs (or not my AIO 922 anyway).
So, I thought I'd get round this by installing the drivers for the printer on the Windows partition, which all went well until I actually tried to print something... although the printer is visible and 'on-line', I get the box informing me there's a communation problem with the printer and computer.
It's beginning to wind me up so any info/advice would be greatly appreciatedThis is either a Windows or a Parallels problem. For Parallels go to http://forum.parallels.com. For Windows go to the support forums at Microsoft.

Hi, I bought an e-book in PDF format that uses Adobe DRM. I've created an account on adobe.com and tried downloading the book in Adobe Digital Editions on the Mac (as well as the bookstore's e-reader--logged into my Adobe account--on an Android device).
It tries to download the book but get's the following error:
Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:
E_ADEPT_DOCUMENT_TYPE_UNKNOWN:
Has anyone come across this? Any guidance would be most appreciated!

Charles P.: That is correct it is a free license but your account has to be associated with one license and yes the Digital edition is a ebook reader that our ebooks use for you to viewWell, just for the halibut I tried opening the book again today and , GLORY BE!, it worked.
Guess it may have taken overnight for Adobe to OK my license to their free ADE software. Also works now using Bluefire app as the reader on my android phone, although it was a pain
to get the book file in the right file folder for bluefire to see it.
I hope that time also heels the issue with all other Error Getting License users.

I had the exact same problem & this worked for me. All I needed was the first step. Good luck!!!! (copied from another thread):
"Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and indeed installation can even trigger this state.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
Another is "E_AUTH_NOT_READY"
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).

I am trying to download a library book (Epub ebook) into my Mac laptop. I have updated my Adobe Edition to 4.0. I keep getting this message

I have gotten in touch with the library. They advised me to do the following:
Mac OS
Open Adobe Digital ! Editions.
Press Command+Shift+D to deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
Select Erase Authorization.
Click OK and Quit Adobe Digital Editions.
Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash.
I am stuck on Erase Authorization. After I choose erase authorization another message pops up: Unable to Erase Authorization. Please try again after some time. I tried all day in fact I even went to the Apple Store where a staff member was also unable to get any further!!Hi dagmar
