Communities
please update communities or facebook apps for E72......
The model number is not enough to know whether the phone is locked or unlocked.
You can upgrade your phone to iOS 5 if you want. That doesn't depend on the phone being locked or not.
If your phone has been hacked / jailbroken to be unlocked, then upgrading it may re-lock it. However, you should know whether you have jailbroken your phone or not. Nobody here can tell you that.

Can't sign into apple support communities with icloud apple id
i realise this isn't the right community for this question, but apple don't have a support category called "apple support".
i have that problem where I have an appleid called "frumbert", which I got about 10 years ago. it is and always has been tied to my gmail email address. i used this for about 5 years worth of itunes purchases, then forgot it for a couple of years.
when I got an ipad I also got an icloud account, and stupidly signed up using my gmail email address as my icloud username. it's tied to the same gmail email address as my existing "frumbert" account. i've since made all my itunes and app purchases using my icloud appleid, and it's the one associated with my mac warranties and such.
so two appleid's share the same email address.
i can't sign into apple support commuities with it because I need a new username. i can't create a new username because the email address is tied to an account already (this one, the old one, "frumbert"). An account utilizing this email address already exists. Only one account per email address is allowed on Apple Support Communities. Apple's way of saying you're c-ockblocked!
but I can't also change the "frumbert" account because there's another account with the same email address, my icloud one.
fark! how does one get out of this mess?I'm having the exact same problem and so are a lot of other people. Apple's solution - shut up and create a new account just for the support community.
Smells outsourced to me! -

GaragebandHI Paul, I'm not sure what the question is. If you meant that the communities are listed on the front page, then yes they are, but that view does not include links to specific categories, such as Airprint for the iPad. The list provides a way of finding direct shortcuts to these filtered sections of communities, either for your own use as a bookmark or when recommending a potentially useful area of the site to explore in your answers to others.

WHO CAN HELP ME RESTORE MY OVI STORE AND COMMUNITIES COS THEY ARE NOT WORKING EVEN THE CHAT AND MAIL .....
I'm using nokia c202. Even i also have the same problem. Please help me in this regard.

I had to create a new email address, then using the new email address I created this Apple ID to log in here. But my normal email address (and original Apple ID) is giving me nothing but grief when I try to log on to support->communities. On my iPhone: [ When I type in my normal email address and password, I'm taken to another login page that says in red letters "Please sign in again. For added security, we need to reconfirm your Apple ID." When I re-enter my password, I get an error "Safari cannot open the page. The error was: "cannot decode raw data". " ]
On my iMac running Firefox, same story but the error is something about unable to load data because of an unsupported compressed format, and it says to contact the web administrator (which would be Apple) - when I press the button "try again" it gets me to the appleid.apple.com page that asks me to pick a user name (to be seen by other members of the community). From there I also run in circles (see below):
Telephone tech support keeps sending me to appleid.apple.com which also gives me nothing but grief: it asks me to pick a user id (a nickname to be used in the forums) but when I do, I get the error message in red font telling me that there is already somebody using my Apple ID (which is of course my email and therefore is my account) -- so why are they asking me to pick a user ID if I already have one? This is very frustrating. When I call and talk to tech support, they try to get me to buy extended service to help me log in, but the reason I'm trying to log in to support->communities is because I can't afford extended service. The people patient enough to stay on the phone tell me to go to iTunes and fill out a support request, but there's no option to fill out a support request for website difficulties. Please help!
I think this is probably because my original Apple ID was "mtalldude" and instead of creating a new account when Apple switched to using email addresses as Apple IDs I just changed my ID to my email address. My original ID may be ten or twenty years old. I don't mind saying that my new login id (the one I'm having trouble with) is sal_mander at hotmail in case a website administrator is reading this and can help me and needs this info and can reset whatever is broken and is not allowing me to pick a user name. Please don't spam me fellow humans! Thanks for the flag J.K. - they contaced me and solved my problem. On this account (which I created just to ask this question), I log in with my email rather than my user name (mtalldud). On the account that I was having trouble with, they told me to use my user ID instead of my email to log in and it worked. This is a bit confusing and seems a bit inconsistent but at least I don't need this temporary account any more to get into this community and find answers!

Question:-
I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time or other portal and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?
Answer:-
For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
(I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
NOTES:-
The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
@mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name. It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message. What do I do next ?
Answer:-
Open iChat
Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
If you have a Blue Globe name (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
Then change the password in iChat as details above.
Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
Open iChat if not launched.
Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Click the Add ( + ) Button at the bottom of the list.
Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
Add in the password. (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
Click Done.
The Buddy List should open (New Window)
The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

How can i make my communities and email work on my...
everytime i try to get online at communities, it always says that communication error?.. what can i do to make it work??.. and also the email..
This topic has been discussed in-depth on this forum in multiple threads. The account iDs for the iTunes Store and for MobileMe/iCloud are not the same thing. The text strings used to login can be the same, but they do not have to be.
To enable iTunes Match on the iPhone you must be signed into the mobile iTunes store with the same account ID that was used in iTunes to activate iTunes Match. Go to Settings > Store to sign in. -
How can I change my email address on Apple Support Communities?
Currently, I receive emails from Apple Support Communities on my Hotmail account, which is also my Apple ID.
I have now created a similar alias @icloud.com and I would like to send all the mail from Apple Support Communities to my new iCloud email.
II guess it would help. All I really need is for my all emails from Apple Support Communities to go to my account @icloud.com. But Apple ID does not allow to use emails created on Apple-owned domains. So I technically must have at least 2 email accounts, which isn't really convenient.

Two Apple IDs, can't log into Support Communities with newest one
Hi, I have an old Apple ID (very old, actually, from the earliest date of being able to have one) and a new Apple ID that I want to use for access to the support community.
Problem: I cannot access the support community with my new ID.
I can access it with my old ID. That's how I accessed the support communities to post this request for help.
This is what happens:
I go to Support --> Communities
I enter my newer Apple ID
I enter my correct passwordNote - I use this combination on iTunes for purchases all the time. It works. This isn't a password issue.
I then get asked to establish a sceen name.
I enter a name that (finally) hasn't been taken by someone else and click the button at the bottom of the screen, to continue.
An error message returns stating that there is another account using that e-mail address (my newer Apple ID).
I can never get past this error message using my newer Apple ID.
The system won't let me log in using my new Apple ID. It says my new Apple ID - which is a .mac account e-mail - is already used by someone else. But that someone else is me. I'm not trying to replace my new ID, I'm not trying to alter the password on my new Apple ID, I just can't get past the step where the system rejects any and all attempts to create a screen name associated with my newer Apple ID.
Something's messed up. I just want to use my newer Apple ID and pretty much forget about the older one.HI,
I have in the past "Created" a Support Communities "Alias" for at least one if not two @mac.com accounts
I have create a number of @mac.com accounts as "iChat Names" as the @mac.com registration Page advertised them as during the MobileMe period.
I have checked one on the Apple ID page and logged in (I had to change the password first)
It seems the one I checked had only the @mac.com address and no alternative email address.
(I am sure if I used this one in Messages it would cause problems.)
I am sure another required me to set up an alternative email and that required me to remove one of my three external emails from another ID.
I would still use the "Contact iTunes Support" link to see if they can sort it out.

Can I send an e-mail to a specific person in Communities? Want to thank them for their answer to a question that I didn't ask. Just wanted to give him/her feedback that their info was very helpful. Just a pat on the back to perhaps brighten their day.
If you click on the person's name, you go to the public profile they have posted. If there is an email address given you can email directly. If not, you cannot email the person directly.
You could post a reply to the persons reply on the communities to note their help. -
How can I stay on the Support communities with out signing in all the time?
How can I stay on the Support Communities without signing in all the time?
ThanksYou will be signed out as soon as you quit the browser, or within around 5-10 minutes of closing the window. The only way to stay signed in is to keep a window open all the time, either working in other tabs, or minimizing it and then going on with something else in a new window. It's a pest, but that's the way it is.

How to change my Apple ID for iTunes & Support Communities
I currently have my personal domain email address as my Apple ID for iTunes, Apple Support Communities, and for iCloud (though I haven't setup a .me email address yet in iCloud). I want to stop using my personal domain email address and create a .me address in iCloud that will be my only email address. The problem is that I need to have a valid email address as my Apple ID in iTunes and I won't have it any longer once I switch email addresses to the new .me address I will create.
Before I do something wrong here, does anyone know how I can create a new .me address in iCloud, and then use that email address as my iTunes, Support Communities, and iCloud Apple ID?Disregard my question...found out I don't need to do this. Evidently I can't delete the post, even though there are no replies.

I signed up for an "Apple ID" and an "Apple Support Communities username" separately using the same e-mail address. Is there any way to merge the two accounts?
I signed up for "Apple Support Communities" several years ago to get help with Apple products. I then signed up for an "Apple ID" later on to buy stuff at the iTunes Store.
I was trying to access "Apple Support Communities" using my Apple ID and I get prompted to choose a username. But when I type my current username, it says the username is already taken. Alternatively, if I try to choose a new username to go along with my Apple ID, I get a message saying that there is a username already assigned to my e-mail address.
For some reason, "Apple Support Communities" is not intuitively syncing the two accounts together despite the fact that they are linked to the same e-mail address.
I don't want to cancel either of these accounts since I have activities using one/the other that I do want to preserve.
Can anyone help me merge these two accounts together?
Thanks.I will do it for you. I can't say they will take any action, they operate in their own way, but if they feel there may be a threat to your security they will normally take it seriously. My guess is they would eMail their actions to you, though not to me of course.
I hope this will help.
Okay; I've now reported the thread.
