Community Site Template

Hi,
I am using community site template and I have enabled inbound email capability with discussion forum. However, when a post is posted via inbound email that has attachments, the attachment link does not show up until we edit the post. Is there a way to at
least point to the link to the attachment in the body of the post?

According to your post, my understanding is that you got an error when you search in the Community Portal.
Did you install the March Public Update?
In my environment, I had installed the March Public Update, and I used the search box in the Community Portal, it worked well.
You can install the March PU, then check whether it works.

Community sites, Discussion List

I created site from Community Site Template and activated publishing features.
On the Welcome Page(publishing page) there is Discussion XSLTListViewWebpart - OOB webpart. In this case from Settings menu if I click 'Edit Page' nothing happens. I have found work around: first make Check out from Page tab, then Edit.
If I remove this webpart from publishing page everything works perfect.
Has anybody faced with such issue of Sharepoint Community Sites with activated Publishing features?
I will appreciate any answers

I tried to reproduce this issue in my environment, it turns out that all works as normal.
I suggest you create a new Community site and do the test in the Internet Explorer.

Issue with AjaxControlToolkit for SharePoint 2013 Blog site template.

Please find below the details of issue -
History - We are working with SharePoint 2013 and we are using AjaxControlToolkit in our project. Basically this is a migration project from MOSS to SharePoint 2013. So we have migrated code MOSS to SharePoint 2013. Previously in MOSS project, AjaxControlToolkit
was used so after migrating we have also used AjaxControlToolkit with updated version which can work in SharePoint 2013. This is working fine now.
Scenario - There is one web application in SharePoint 2013 farm. Under this web application there are two site collections. One site collection is created with Team site template and second site collection is created with Blog site template.
There are three feature in our wsp that we have created. One feature is at web application scope (which will do web.config modifications and it will add below entry in web.config file through SPWebConfigModification in section 'configuration/system.web/compilation/assemblies'

). And there are two site collection features.
Now when we deploy our solution (wsp) to web application in SharePoint 2013 farm and activate the Web.Config modification feature which is at web application level, it has added above mentioned entry in web.config file.
Our application in first site collection is working fine which we are expecting but in the second site collection which is created using out of box Blog site template, 'comment box' and Post button are invisible as shown in below screen shot -
If we remove below entry from web.config file -

and refresh the Blog site page then the Comment box and Post button is appearing again as shown in below screen shot -

SP2013 - Date Filter Web Part looses connection when used in a site template

Hi,
I created two table reports in SQL Reporting Services 2012 and inserted in a web page using the Reporting Service Report viewer in SharePoint 2013 with CU Dez 2013. The two reports require two dates and I use two date filter web parts (I did not try the
date range solution I saw in the fórum).
So the user inputs the two dates in date filters that send the information to thereports in the same page.
They work in the site and I saved it as template. However when I create e new site using it as a templates, the date filter connections are broken and of course, they did not work.
For another report where I usea text filter, it worked without any problem in the template.
Does anybody know any workaround?

Issue with site template that contains a document library with a lookup column to another list

I have a document library called Proposals with a lookup column in the same site called Document Categories (multiple values allowed). It points to a list called document categories. I have several sample documents in the Proposal Library that
contain valid document categories. When I save the site as a template and instantiate it, everything is fine. However, when I remove the sample documents from the Proposal library and rebuild the site template, I can't get the template to
create another site. I get an error Unable To Open Lookup List.
I don't understand why I can instantiate a site from the template when there's sample data, but not when the document library containing the lookup column is empty.
Does SharePoint 2010 site template support lookup columns?
Why would it make a difference if the library is empty?

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you created a site from the template with no files in the document library.
I tested the same scenario per your post, and I can create a site from the template with no files in the document library with no errors.
To solve this issue, I recommend to verify the things below:
Did you save the site as a template with Include Content checked? If yes, I recommend to test if it works when saving the site as a template with Include Content unchecked.
Test the same scenario with a new site to narrow the issue scope.
I also recommend to check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS.
You can check the ULS log by the methods here:

Is this a bug? Document Library view has the wrong 'Show in Folders' option when created from custom site template.

I have a site with the default document library.
I add views to the library, some ask for the items to be shown in folders, some not.
I create a site template via the SharePoint UI.
I create a new site.
In the new site, the library exists, the views exist, but all the views are set to show the items in folders.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a patch or any workaround?

According to your description, my understanding is that view property "show all items without folders" is not preserved in packaging and is lost after we create a site using the saved site template.
For your issue, I can reproduce your scenario in my environment. It should be caused by the scope attribute is missing. For a workaround, you can try to crack the site template wsp, add the missing scope
attribute to the View schema in the list schema.xml.
Also, I recommend you open up a ticket for deep investigation.

Remove reference to Publishing Feature from site template

Hi all, I have a custom site collection which I package as a wsp to deploy as a custom solution template to multiple sites.
Accidentally, years ago I've activated Publishing Features in my site template and then disabled them. I still work and create new templates from my site without any problems (ShP 2010).
Now, I've installed SharePoint 2013 and updated my site template to 2013. Then, I've created the new wsp but when I try to apply my template to a new site collection I receive an error message: "Failed to instantiate file "AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml"
from module "Style LibraryMedia Player_Features\PublishingResources": Source path "Features\PublishingResources\AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml" not found."
How could I remove all the reference to features belonging to Publishing Features?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to remove reference to publishing feature from site template in SharePoint 2013.
You can do as the followings:
extract all files from WSP file by (a tool or) changing the wsp file to cab file and then extract all files to a working folder.
edit the Onet.xml file to remove the unsupported features and save the changes.
create a ddf file for makecab.exe to repack the wsp
run cmd: makecab /f my.ddf to generate the new WSP file

I created a document library with the "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item" on, and saved the site as a template. However when I create instances using that project site template, the document library doesn't
have the "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item" option on, like the site that was used for the template have.
Is this option not possible to save on a project site template?
Here are the steps I did:
On a document library I set the versioning for major and minor version
I create an “Publishing approval” workflow and set it to “Start this workflow to approve publishing on a major version”.
But when I create a project instance of this type, the document library on the project site has the “Start this workflow to approve publishing on a major version” turned off.

I recommend to create a WebProvisioned event receiver.
We need to create an event handler and register it with the Web Provisioned event. In the event, we need to find the specific Library and set SPList.DefaultContentApprovalWorkflowId property.
When the site is provisioned, the event handler is activated. Then the "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item" option will be checked.

Site template without inherited permissions

Can I not create a site template with permissions inheritance off. When I break inheritance, create a template based on that site, then create a new site based on that template then inheritance is back on again......that's bad
Seems like that would be a core need for site templates.

According to your post, my understanding is that when you create a new site based on the template then inheritance is back on again.
When you create a new site, if you seelect “Use same permissions as parent site”, it will inheritant permissions.
I recommend to check “Use unique pernussions” to create your own permissions.

Need suggestions for upgrading discontinued site templates.

I'm currently working on migrating our MOSS 07 site to SharePoint 2013 (using 3rd party software). I have a site template that i'm not sure what i should convert/upgrade it too.
I have a Budgeting and Tracking Multiple Projects (PROJMULTI#0) site template. What would be an equivalent or similar template that I could convert this too?

Weird issue with Site Template in O365

Hi,
I ran into a weird issue while working with Site Template in O365 last night.
I created a sub-site in a Site Collection with some Site Columns, CT and Lists. Then I saved it as a Site Template so that it can be used for different sites. Then I created 3 different sub-sites using the template. All went good.
After some time when I looked at the sites, something really irritating happened. I saw the first two sites were missing all the site columns and CT. And the latest third site had 3 copies of each Site Column and CT. Though for the first two sites,
all the CT, Site Columns were available at List level, but it wad just the reference. The Actual CT was not seen the site settings.
This is the first time I saw this kind of issue. Not sure what is the reason for this.
Any idea around this ?

Assign Values to Category column in custom Site template by using save a s template method

I am trying to develop a new custom site/web template in SharePoint 2013. In the site I have used Issue tracking list. I rename Issue status to Risk status. In the category column I gave my custom values e.g.

I saved the site as template and uploaded the custom template into site collection. When I created a new site based on the custom template I noticed Risk status has been renamed to default Issue status and category column has default values e.g. category

As the error message suggests, it is not supported to add this app into a site template. To work around this issue, it is recommended to remove this app from your
site before saving it as template.

Data type change made to schema.xml of comments list which is part of blog site template is not reflecting in the existing site but working fine when new site is created.

Hi,
I have created a blog site with the available site template few days back. Now we have the requirement of having the attachments in the body of the comments section.
So, I updated the schema.xml of the comments list available under ../templates/blog/lists/comments/schema.xml to have rich text for the Body field.
With this change, I created a new site and it was working fine. Change is reflected in the new blog site.
However, this particular change is not reflected in the existing blog site. Any changes made to the schema.xml is not effecting the old blog site.
Can anyone suggest what can be done for the change to be reflected in the old blog site?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add attachments in the body of the comments section.
You can add the the Code inside the Default list pages. For more information, you can refer to:
Enable Attachment in SharePoint Blog post list and display the list Attachments
In addition, you can add an enhanced rich text field to the comment list and remove the body field. Then you can insert files into comments, too.
