Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:
    Snow Leopard from Amazon.com
    Snow Leopard from eBay
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
    Snow Leopard General requirements
      1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
      2. 1GB of memory
      3. 5GB of available disk space
      4. DVD drive for installation
      5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may
          apply.
      6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
First, you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 as stated above.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Before upgrading check that you computer meets the minimum requirements:
    Lion System Requirements
      1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or
          Xeon processor
      2. 2GB of memory
      3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
      4. 7GB of available space
      5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
      1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
      2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
      3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
      4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
      5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
      6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
      7. Xserve (Early 2009)
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
Am I eligible for the free upgrade?
See Apple - Free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade Program.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.

Post some code so we can see how you are doing it. If you are using JPA entities take a look at the @Lob annotation.

  • After installing "Java for OS X 2013-004" update, Java apps don't work anymore as expected

After installing "Java for OS X 2013-004" update, Java apps don't work anymore as expected.
Windows of Swing apps don't display all GUI elements.
After replacing System/Library/Java from a Time MAchine Backup, everything works normal again.
    Is this update corrupted?

"avoid using Java in a web browser at all,..."
    Good advice.
"...old Java apps/applets that aren't written to modern specs ..."
The stand-alone Java Swing applications, that don't display their GUI elements after installing this update, have been written according to modern standards. With Oracle Java7, and with Java6 from Apple prior to this update, they run absolutely flawlessly.
    This is absolutely Apple's fault.

  • How to update my mac book pro??

how to update my mac ???

Software Update under the Apple menu (upper left corner).
If you are at 10.6.8 then the only way to update would be purchasing Mountain Lion via the App Store application.

  • How to update java classes.

    Hi
Basically I have a java application, that users run on an everyday basis.
My question is where do I start off to make an "auto-updater" for the code, so if there is a new
version of the application, it would automatically be downloaded and replaced.
Thanks, any advice would be great.

I am asking here some advice and I have received itNot very graciously, though. You basically said it was too much effort
I do not need someone to tell me what I am trying or not trying to do.I disagree. You seem to be under the impression you're going to get this functionality for free. It's pretty common for people to come here asking questions like this, thinking there's going to be a single method call they can use, or some free package that relieves them of all effort and responsibility. It's hardly fair to let them carry on thinking that, and even less fair for you to be rude to someone who is being open with you about your requirements.

  • How to update Java on my iMac OS X 10.6.8?

    Firefox   Link to download.
The only way you can upgrade Safari is to upgrade your operating system. The current version of Safari is 8.0.4 which requires Yosemite. If you want to consider upgrading, check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
    Application Compatibility
    Applications Compatibility (2)
    Do a backup before installing.
One option is to create a new partition (~30- 50 GB), install the new OS, and ‘test drive’ it. If you like/don’t like it it, you can then remove the partition. Do a backup before you do anything. By doing this, if you don’t like it you won’t have to go though the revert process.

  • Update Java Sun JSDK 1.4.2_07 in server

    Hello,
I wonder if it is compulsory to use the version Sun JSDK 1.4.2_07 on the server xMII 11.5 or we can update the JAVA after installation of XMII 11.5 to a latest version of Java?
We would have problems with support in SAP?
    Nilo ...

For version 11.5 you can use any 1.4.2_x.  The newer the better.  You can change it after the install, but it's easier to change it first.  There's a note on how to update java when xMII is already installed.
