Comp crashed need to sync to new comp

the computer I normally sync to crashed and I need to sync to my fiance's computer which she already uses for her iphone. I'm curious what we need to do to make sure that she doesn't lose everything when I sync my iphone to her computer. She wants to make sure that she retains her contacts and calendar. She's already put all her music on her external harddrive but we can't find the contacts or calendar on her computer to be able to move them to the external.
Thanks for any help
Allen

you do not need to sync contacts with her computer if you dont want to or calendar however you should be syncing them somewhere your biggest issue is going to be the applications as they are drm protected to the itunes account used to purchased her applications will not run on your phone unless your using her itunes account and vice versa
the easiest way to do this without causing a problem is by creating a separate user account on the computer so you can sync to your own personal account with contacts, applications, and calendar

  • 2 iPhones need to sync with new computer

I just purchased a new HP computer and downloaded iTunes but I need to know how to sync two iPhones to the new comp without losing all the data off the phones... Also, what is the easiest way to move my library to new computer?

Transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer along with all other important data from your old computer that you will need or want to access on your new computer such as documents, folders, etc. You can use the external drive that you use for backup purposes as long as the external drive has adequate storage capacity to store/transfer your entire iTunes library. You also need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.

  • Do I still need to sync a new iPad Air to a computer

I am buying a new iPad Air and would like to know if I need to sync it to a computer or laptop for start up as I did with ipad 2

No. You can activate it directly.   If you have music on the Pc you wish to transfer then you would want to sync.  But you don't need to.

  • Computer crashed can i sync to new computer without losing contacts that are on my phone

My computer crashed so i bought a new one. I have all the contacts on my iPhone 4, but i am afraid if i try to sync it to the new computer it will erase all the data. Can someone please verify this for me.

Use your backup copy of your old computer to put everything on your new one.

  • I need to sync a new desktop to my laptop and android device. I have tried everything in your help section and cannot make it happen

I just got a new Comp and my old one tanked. I am trying to recover my firefox setting and book marks and such. I have tried doing the sync.... but it doesnt seem to want to. I am trying to sync it with my spare laptop. What I really want to do is sync it with my old laptop whose hard drive I actually had installed as a backup drive in the new system. Its complicated. I actually have the old comp synced to my android phone... but can not get it to sync with the new comp either. Its making me nuts, I have so many book marks and to add them all by hand is going to suck!!! I got through firefox's walkthrough, and it says to go to the Firefox button and select Options, then select the Sync Panel... that is the first problem! there is not "Sync Panel" on either the new or the old comp. It does not exist. I can select "set up Sync" but that is not under options, it is separate... and get the choice Create new account, or I have an account... then I can either enter my account info and a recovery key (which i dont have and cannot find) or I can get a 12 digit code to enter to sync the other device. problem is, both computers generate a code, when one is supposed to have a blank space so I can enter the sync code. Some times I get the blank space on the comp that I am trying to sync the old one too... and I enter it and nothing happens. HELP.

Thankyou. I actually figured it out partially myself. I simply opened a new Firefox sync account so that I could sync my backup laptop to my new desk top. The issue here is that I am dealing with 4 devices.
1.'''Original Laptop''' (which is no longer functional, though I have the harddrive installed as a backup drive in my new tower... it was cleaned of all bugs prior to install)
    2. '''My backup Laptop'''. I have been using this device for the last 3 weeks. Was unable to sync it with my old one before it went down, so I have since added many bookmarks as such to the onboard firefox browser.
    3. '''My android phone''' (Samsung Note 3... top of the line current device) to which I actually have the bookmarks from my '''original laptop ''' synced. That sync was on my now old sync account
    4. '''My New Desktop''' Just out of the box tonight. I have now synced my backup laptop to this device.
The reason I started a new Sync account with a different email address is because I could not get anything to work as the Firefox instructions said to. So once I setup a new one everything worked perfectly as far as syncing from the backup laptop to the desktop. I finally was actually shown the previously mythical "Sync Pannel" which would not show before.
    My question is this now:
I see that one of the options when sycing allows you to blend the saved data with both devices (assuming that both have bookmarks and browsing history etc.)
I need to be able to add in the sync data that is stored on my android to the other devices, most importantly the desktop. Now that this data is in two separate sync accounts... is that possible?
I had issues with both the desktop and the backup laptop being able to log into my old sync account even after I was successful in resetting the password. I tried to use the recovery key once I reset the PW and i copied it exactly and even regenerated a new one. The sync system would not accept the copy and pasted exact copy of the recovery key, it kept saying invalid key?
I would really like to get my sync data from my android to sync and blend with the new sync account as I have many many bookmarks on the android that were on my old laptop.
I hope that this makes sense... It is very tough to explain!
    Will appreciate all help.

  • Computer crashed - need to sync ipod w/ library

My computer crashed. I've downloaded iTunes 7.6 on a new computer. When I log in, my iTunes library is empty. I pulled in my iPod and it says that it's synced to another computer (yes, the one that is dead). How can I transfer all of the songs on my iPod (purchased thru the store and downloaded from CDs) to an iTunes library. Please keep instructions clear and my computer skills are limited!!! Thanks for your help!!!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod.
The transfer of content sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Hard disk crashed: How to sync to new computer without erasing my iphone

    Hello,
I have an Iphone 4 and Win XP laptop. My old notebook's hard drive crashed and I do not have any itunes backup. Now I have a new laptop and I want to start syncing my iphone to the new computer. I am concerned that as soon as I sync the phone to the computer, itunes will erase everything on the phone. What do I do?
    Thanks in advance,
    -CIL

Download iTunes, log into your account(same one as the purchases on the iPhone).
Plug the iPhone in-you will get warning about different computer, etc.-do not sync.
Either use the prompt to transfer purchases or once the iPhone shows up in iTunes-right click on it and select transfer purchases.
You will only be able to downloaded iTunes purchased content(songs, videos, apps)-nothing from CD or bought from other sources.

  • Hard Drive Crash - need help with choosing new drive and installation

My hard drive seems to have crashed. My computer froze, and when I tried to reboot, it got stuck at the startup screen. I started from the system CD, ran the disk repair utility, and it said it could not repair the disk. I ran Tech Tool Pro and it could not repair the disk. I tried to start up in Target disk mode while connected to my older G4 iMac (that I'm using now as my backup), and the disk would not mount. So I need some expert advice - I am assuming the hard drive is toast. I wish I could at least mount it in target disk mode to transfer files, but I haven't been able to do that. I was going to take it in for repair (or possibly buy a new computer), but after reading some of the posts here, I am thinking I could just replace the internal hard drive with a 3.5" SATA drive.
What I need to know is am I correct about this? And is this the right kind of drive for my iMac? Are there any specifications I need to be aware of when ordering a new drive? I downloaded the manual explaining how to replace the drive and it looks doable. I would appreciate any guidance as to choosing the new drive (specific brand names/models would be great), installing the drive, and tips for formatting, etc. Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to Discussions - any 3 1/2" SATA drive will be fine, go to [macsales.com] or [smalldog.com] or [newegg.com] and choose whichever drive fits your wallet. Most of them are reliable, I have heard of problems with Seagate and Hitachi, but there are always some failures with any brand. Make sure to get a good warranty.Instructions will come with the drive, but you can download them from [Apple|http://www.apple.com/support/manuals/imac> as well.

  • HD crashed, need to sync iPhone4

My external HD attached to my imac died. With it, my iTunes library.
My iPhone 4 needs updated, but I want to sync it with my MBP now. I don't have anything in the library, but it is signed into my account. What will happen when I try to sync my iPhone to the new computer? Will it just create a new backup file? The phone is set to manually manage music/videos if that matters.
    Thanks.

  • Computer crashed, need to sync my Ipod to my pc

My hard drive crashed and can't be restored. All of my paid-for content from ITunes is on my Ipod and I would like to transfer that to my new pc.
I found an article of sorts on the Ipod site that says you can sync from Ipod to a pc, but there were no instructions on how to do it.
Can someone offer me a walk thru?
When I think of all the money I have tied up in the content on my Ipod, it scares me a little to think I might make a wrong turn and delete it all.
Thanks for any help you can give.

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread. It's very comprehensive and gives you all the steps: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, the support pages will give you the steps to go through, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Computer crashed- need to sync the computer with iphone

my computer crashed and i have to erase and reinstall the os. However, this computer was synched with my iphone. How do i get itunes to sync with my iphone (just the contacts and the browser bookmarks most importantly). Basically- just to be clear, after I reinstall the OS- there will be NO contacts or calendar events- I just want the iphone info to to replace the empty info on the computer.
I'm just nervous that the iphone contacts/calandars will get erased. Is there a sure-fire method to this?
    thanks.

I plugged in the phone and basically it was a piece of cake. I basically "merged" the info from the phone with the empty computer info. Itunes prompts you with this after clicking merge contacts/calandars/bookmarks in itunes.I knew it had to be easy since this would be something you'd go through if you bought a new computer. It was scary for sure but all is well.
